Comfortable Atmosphere. Attentive/Friendly waitstaff. Great menu, value/portions are all excellent. Food was great and the prices are very reasonable. Will definitely be back. Loved the cole slaw.

Food was terrible, place was dirty. I will NEVER come back. When we paid our bill the server asked how everything was, we said terrible. NO RESPONSE. We (all 3 of us) left over 1/2 of our meals on out plates. When our plates were cleared we stated it Wes bad, no apology. WOW. This all took place while the owner watched and did nothing.

Have been here several times - and while there is no single dish that will 'knock your socks off' there are plenty of good options to choose from. The staff has always been very friendly and attentive. Menu is reasonably priced too. Items we have enjoyed: - several soups / lemon rice is good - several good salads - gyros - shrimp appetizer - various fish dinners (battered fish, perch, cod,) have enjoyed them all - good breakfasts too Quite often they have daily specials too. Give them a try.

Paul's is located right across from Lipumas Coney Island, on the edge of downtown Rochester. We stubbed across Paul's one Sunday morning when the wait everywhere else was thirty minutes plus. Paul's had a wait but nothing more than 5 minutes. The staff are always very friendly and more than willing to over accommodate your needs! The omelets are incredible and so are the skillets! The omelets come with hash browns on the side, whereas in the skillets the hash browns serve as a bed for the rest of the ingredients to lay on. Order a coffee and welcome an entire pot to your table, Paul's once again over serves each customer but not in a negative fashion. The coffee is so good that you're sure to finish the whole pot. I know it's just coffee why am I ranting about it? It's definitely not just coffee, drink this coffee and you'd wish there was a Paul's coffee instead of a Starbucks coffee on your way to work! Paul's is well worth the stop!

Used to love it, but the last time I went sausage was PINK in the middle. server was slow, eggs were almost raw. They brought me bacon instead it tasted like microwave bacon. It was horrible. Our server was not nice at all. No one was paying attention to us. It makes me really sad cause I was going there ALL THE TIME for breakfast. I loved it, please fix these things.

We use to go here a lot but the food is lacking and it's a bummer... They use to have a great lamb shank... Eggs Benedict use to be good ... I don't know what happened maybe all the outside construction don't know but we really don't go there anymore

Worst diner ive been to in awhile. Dont waste your money here go across the street to coney island. I ordered cheese sticks, french onion soup and Reuben. The corned beef on the reuban was like rubber. The fries were cold. Almost tasted like they were microwaved and put on my plate. The cheese sticks were cold in the middle and not hot. Nasty as hell!

The food was okay but the service was horrible. Forgot a lot of stuff and took for ever to fill drinks. I won't be coming back.

I really don't know why this place gets good reviews. The food is not good at all. The service is mediocre. I've been here a few times before they renovated and said I wouldn't go back. I thought I'd give it another chance after they redid the joint, but they did nothing to improve the food. My French toast was burnt in random places and extremely bland. My hash browns were bland and also randomly burnt. I ordered a grilled cheese on wheat bread for my kid but it came on white, and it was gross. How do you mess up French toast and a grilled cheese? My husband's gyro was not good. By the time the waitress came back to check up on us, my husband was almost done eating so I just sent my food back. My kid didn't eat his either. So we paid $23 for crappy food and then go eat again since I was still hungry. I definitely won't be going back.

I only pass this place 4-6 times a week, and noticed the always packed lot. Plus a yelp pal, told me best biscuits & gravy ever! And another said BEST GREEK DRESSING EVER! So Saturday thought we would try it out. Walked in & were greeted like old friends /family & we were promptly seated & served water. This sweet 17 year old energetic server Luzia, bounced onto the scene & offered us ideas/suggestions. We looked at the food being delivered here & there & were amazed at the portions & presentations. The corned beef platter called my name for only $9.50 It came with 6-8 large thin strips of corned beef 1/2 of a large boiled potato 1/3 of large boiled cabbage head 1/2 cup of tender boiled carrots + a crock of french onion soup A+ and I got 3 more meals out of it as leftovers at home The Bride ordered a turkey rueben deluxe , which included fries & the crock of french onion soup also an A+ & she took half home her only disappointment came with the large steak fries had a metallic taste. Between Luzia faithfully checking on us & the water / coffee guy stopping by on every lap we LOVED the service - homey atmosphere! Now to get back & try the yelpers suggestions!

This is a small but really nice diner style restaurant. The owner, Paul seated us and was really nice, he asked us if we wanted drinks while we were waiting to be seated. This was a great place for brunch but try to get there early to beat the Sunday church group. We went around 10:30 am. I had Paul's omelette, it was really tasty. There was plenty of food, I could have had a side option of hash browns or potatoes but I went for tomato slices and toast. Overall great hole in the wall restaurant, I would definitely recommend it.

This time I tried the Gyro plate and was it ever delicious. Lots and lots of meat on the sandwich, cooked to perfection. I have tried many things on their huge menu and have not been disappointed yet. Consistently great service and very inexpensive.

Paul's on Main street has one of best breakfasts on Main Street. The service is really great and my water was constantly filled up. They have a very clean building and the bathrooms are clean as well. Every time I come here I look forward to their breakfasts. My omelette I order here is cooked very well and the toast is like any other toast. You can look forward to coming here in the morning and getting your moneys worth. I give the restaurant 3 stars because their dinner is not greatest. What is ordered is down below. The steak came with a side of peas and mashed potatoes. The peas were dry but the potatoes were mediocre. The soup was spot on and not too salty. However, the steak was extremely dry and had no taste at all. If you are looking forward on going to dinner here do not have high hopes. Dinner I ordered: -New York Strip -peas -mashed potatoes -French onion soup

Service Service service the waitress was way to fast she brought out salad I took to bites then she brings out our flaming cheese . I said okay to myself trying not to make a seen. And lest then two minutes she brings out my entree. Then I had tell her that I was still working on my salad and appetizer. So she took back the entree and then 10 or 15 minutes later she brings back the entree that was not worth waiting for.

The food is okay, nothing to special, nothing you haven't had a family diner before. I had the spinach pie, the taste was pretty good. The biscuits and gravy were okay (I'm really picky) something just didn't make me happy. I also he the French onion soup which was again just okay, the cheese had a strange consistency. The waitress I had was awesome, super friendly, the rest of the staff seemed to be just as nice. The one thing that did stand out to me that kind of upset me which is why I have them 3 stars is I could hear the microwave going off in the kitchen constantly. That to me is a big turn off in a restaurant, if I wanted microwaved food I could have stayed home and microwaved something at home, but that's just me.

There were very few places open since it was Memorial Day, but we figured we would give it a shot. When we were seated & I realized it was basically a Coney Island I wasn't expecting much. I was most pleasantly surprised. I ordered the Greek salad with chicken and it was, hands down, the best Greek salad I've ever had! The Huge, marinated, grilled chicken breast on top was fantastic- very tender & flavorful! Mixed greens, not just iceberg, fresh feta, beets, and a thick & creamy Greek dressing with hot, freshly grilled pita bread. Those with me ordered a grilled chicken sandwich, a cheese omelet with hash browns & a Reuben & all received rave reviews. Nice steak fries, although the sweet potato fries I saw on another table looked yummy as well. Great service & clean restaurant. I would highly recommend this establishment & will be back!

If you want greasy nasty grilled chicken on your salad 3 times in a row then this is the place for you. We even specifically asked for no oil on the chicken the 3rd time. And they did nothing about it.

The greatest breakfast you'll ever eat in your life. Also the greatest coffee you'll every drink in your life. The old man there is so nice and tries his best to keep the customers happy.

Great coffee! Had a couple eggs and sausage carry out. Very good, would come back again

First time, won't be the last. Came in for breakfast, place was busy, but seated right away. The place is clean and fresh looking. We both ordered different breakfast items, no complaints at all, food was good, service was good. Not much else to add. Definitely a place to return in he future.

  • David Z.

This place needs a pulse. Seriously? What's the big deal here? Counts as food. Overpriced for a greasy spoon. They burned my toast. How hard is it to look at the toast before you put it on the plate and say to yourself "gee, I burned this toast let me make some new toast before I send it out. " I never thought about it but you can tell a lot about a place by their toast. It's disappointing that the cook didn't have enough pride in his work to serve good toast. Forget about getting a smile or a hello or a thank you out of anyone who works here. They walk around like the living dead.

Great food here no matter what you get! Fair prices for large portions!! Our service was a bit slow but we were busy catching up with family so were less bothered by the lack of attention! One of our favorite places in Rochester!

  • Steve S.

Despite the fact that we went on a busy holiday, we were seated relatively quickly compared to other places. Food was a bit slow but they were swamped. You get plenty of food and it's fairly good.

  • Brad M.

Nice local place, with apparently a great breakfast. The service was okay, nothing stellar...nothing wrong. 3 different people waited on us. We had the French Onion soup... and although we couldn't place it (I think it was the cheese) something was just slightly off... only a few bites. We each had the Chicken Sicilian Salad. Ample amounts of breaded chicken (was juicy and tender)... Lots of grocery store tomatoes (pale, thick, colorless, flavorless)...Blue cheese and walnuts...Balsamic dressing... yet, the lettuch was brownd (cut instead of torn?) :( The place was okay, but not overwhelming in either direction. Decent price point, lots of food, good view of downtown . 2.5-3... leans towards 3 STARS

Not bad at all especially with the new remodel. I would come here for a traditional breakfast any day of the week.

  • Phillip B.

This review is on service only due to the fact our server never came to get our food order; or for me to even tell him there soda syrup was bad. Waited 15 min's to try and place a breakfast order and no service. So me and my girl friend got up and left and on our way out a server said thanks for coming...

Very good breakfast! I really like that they have breakfast sandwiches on the menu. Hash browns were under done but everything else was delicious. Good service. Fair prices.

This place is the best for breakfast! It's the only place I've found in downtown Rochester that makes 100% homemade biscuits & gravy! The place is just like your typical family diner, but the food is really good and the prices are decent. The staff is just okay though, they definitely take care of you, but they don't go out of their way to do anything above-and-beyond. We've never had to wait though, because the staff does a great job of bussing the tables and getting them ready for the next group.

Excellent food! Best breakfast in downtown Rochester, and I've been to all the joints. Lunch is fantastic, too. Great coffee. Great service. Go there. Tell Paul I said hi.

I can come here everyday just for the coffee. If you like biscuits and gravy this is the place! My mother in law and I come here at least three times a week when she's around and she loves the Senior breakfast. Eggs Benedict is another favorite of mine in this restaurant. George (Paul's Father) is always going around filling coffee in every table - it's awesome! They have just renovated the restaurant and added outdoor seating.

My wife and I finally decided to expand from our usual breakfast place (The Pantry in Washington Twp) and went to Paul's. Thank you Yelpers, we were delighted! And yes, the coffee is absolutely the best! We both ordered The full breakfast with 2 eggs, meat, hash browns and of course, the biscuits and gravy. Everything was extremely good! The service was terrific as well. The owner was pleasant and refilled my coffee himself 3 times. You have to love when an owner cares enough to mingle with his guests and help out his staff. The biscuits and gravy was so good, I was bummed I missed the opportunity to throw a spoonful or two of gravy on my hash browns. The eggs, bacon, hash browns (and my wife's sausage) was done just right. She mentioned "not too spicy, not too bland, just right for breakfast". Temperature was right on. My bill was less than $20, in my opinion a great value. I gave it a 5 because I can't think of anything they could do better while keeping the price under $10 per person for a very full breakfast.

My favorite breakfast place downtown!! I love Paul's coffee and all their servers are so nice! Usually fast to get your food too. For lunch they also have carry out and their chicken breast on salads is delicious! They are now adding a outdoor patio which will be really nice

Hands down! Best place to grab a bite in Rochester. Amazing wait staff that caters to your every need. Huge portions so you never have to leave and feel hungry. Where can I start from breakfast, lunch and dinner it is the perfect place to eat at any time. Favorites- Breakfast: Paul's Breakfast Special Huge Portions of 2 pieces of bacon, sausage, ham, 3 eggs any style Lunch: Where can I start from sandwiches, to wraps, and I can't forget those amazing huge portions chicken salads. The chicken at this place is seasoned to perfection Dinner: Chicken and Shrimp Stir-Fry. Mixed with vegetables and teriyaki glazing it is just so amazing.

I went there for lunch last week. Maybe it was a bad day for them, or maybe people who have given this place all these good reviews have only been there for breakfast. Food taste is below average. I don't care how large the portions are, just make it a bit tasty for God's sake! It's not the waitress fault.

    (1)
  • John K.

Came here for breakfast the other day and it was terrible. Eggs were scrambled and really runny. Bacon wasn't good, my hashbrowns were burnt and even the coffee was bad. The waitress seemed like she didn't care to be there. I didn't even bother to complain about anything. I won't be back to this place.

The owner is super friendly, tons of choices in the menu, fast and reasonable price! Feeling too fat after eating? Go for a walk by the river next to it.

I have eaten here multiple times and always had a good experience! Everyone is friendly and always willing to grab something for you even if they are not your direct server! I have had good business meetings here and would go here with anyone.

The deck is complete!! Now I can enjoy the Paul's Omelette outside! The breakfast is their strong point. I've had lunch here once - a burger with fries - average. But the breakfast is always the best.

Nice little diner just north of the downtown Rochester area, this place was not a disappointment. The service was good, the food came along at a good speed, it's definitely a return spot for breakfast!!

  • Heather H.

So, this place is pretty much just like any other "family" style restaurant. I was impressed by how fast the staff was, and that despite the fact that this place was PACKED we still didn't have to wait more than a couple of minutes for a table. The food was good, and moderately priced. For the two of us we only spent $20.

    (4)
  • Amya S.

I still love Paul's! My favorite items on the menu are: The chicken salad- a mix of greens served with a huge portion of marinaded chicken. Try it with the homemade Greek dressing! Fish and chips- light and flaky fish served with a generous portion of steak fries and amazing tartar sauce The coffee- oh, the coffee. I drink one entire pot to myself. I wish I was kidding. Cabbage soup- yummy broth, tender veggies. Perfect when I'm feeling a bit under the weather. Or above the weather. Skip the veggies served with the dinners. They aren't so great.

Busy on weekends but one of the best choices downtown for breakfast. Great food, good prices, typical diner service.

    (5)
  • Tom T.

Paul's by far the best family diner in Rochester. I love the smoke-free atmosphere & the presentation of the food. The service is always very friendly and fast. As soon as you walk in, one can smell the aroma of the fresh homemade food. The portions are more than enough and for under $10 per person, one ends up taking half the food home and it makes great lunch on the following day. Another great thing about Paul's is the coffee they serve. Once you have tried they're coffee its diffucult to go back to your regular coffee. This place is fanstastic and I recommend to everyone! If your just wanting to get a carryout or if your wanting to have a great dinner with your family. During these economic times, Pauls it definitely the go to place.

Have gone here for years with about 3 to 4 visits per month. Good food and truly nice people. We like this resturant and think you will too.

Pauls is the best! We go at least once a week and have never been disappointed. We love the homey atmosphere and the excellent food. The menu is varied, which is another plus when you can't make up your mind...there is something for everyone's taste. The portions are generous and prices reasonable. Guess where I'm going for supper....Pauls!

This is a family favorite in my house. Our family has been eating here since they opened and I have never had poor service or bad food. Both are top notch!! We are very lucky to have so many wonderful restaurants in the Rochester/Rochester Hills area and this one is no different. Excellent, fresh home cooked food and the staff is friendly and quick. This family restaurant fits right in with the family feel of our city.

I usually get the same thing every time i go there... a gyro! which is amazing! i think it comes with soup or salad and fries! The portions are huge! They are usually busy... but that means they must be good!

Okay I love love love this restaurant. The service is good, the food is amazing and I love the family feel and the old guy that comes around and puts a ton of whipped cream on the hot chocolate. Never had a bad meal and the pancakes are truly worth going back for.

  • Amanda K.

The food isn't bad and the service is good. I love the older man that comes around to make sure everything is good, refills coffee, and tops off hot chocolate with whipped cream. I have never had that at a restaurant before. They also have ammmaaazziinnggg coffee!!!

Paul's is a nice diner. I usually get the Vegetarian Pita, fries and a salad with ranch dressing. The Pita contains feta cheese, lettuce and onion with a side of Greek dressing. The pita is hit or miss.. the last time I went there was a couple of months ago and my onion was not cut very well, there were a lot of big chunks. Their waitresses are really weird and make me feel very uncomfortable. They are almost robot-like. I can't even explain it, you have to experience it for yourself. But overall it is an alright place to eat.

Great food, great service and always a great time... Thanks Ami, Julia and Paul. Everytime I come back home from Chicago this is the place we all eat. Highly recommended!!!!

My wife and I used to go there all the time for the good food and good service. Today we went for lunch and waited 15 minutes for someone to take our order to no avail. We left and went somewhere else to eat. We won't be back.

Excellent breakfast and cheap! Not sure what else to say... my wife says that they have the best coffee she has ever had, and it is a bottomless cup.

  • Rae D.

I went here with my friend for dinner and we didn't like either of our meals. I had fish and chips and both the fries and fish were terrible. I also had lemon chicken rice soup which was the worst I had because the broth was so loose. My friend had a brownie ice cream dessert and she said the brownie wasn't even good. I don't consider us to be picky when it comes to food, but that was just horrible. For lunch and dinner go to coney island instead, the food tastes better and is cheaper. I agree the waiters are creepy and robot-like. I heard the breakfast was good but I have never had it.
