This place is a gem....in the Thumb, you won't find a better meal or a better view. I live nearby, and am a huge fan of Chef Clint and his wife Charity, and what they have brought to our humble county. Everything is prepared fresh, they don't use frozen foods. Make their own dressings, and use locally caught fish and locally raised chickens. Local and in season veggies are used, so the nenu is always fresh. I enjoy cooking, and know just how much effort goes into cooking like this...from the scrumptious sauces to the delicate desserts, it's prepared with care. My personal favorite is the pan sauteed lake perch, with buerre blanc sauce. It is simply the best perch I've ever had. My hubby loved the risotto so much, he wanted me to make it at home. For the amount we would eat, I convinced him we should enjoy it here instead. Quite often I try to decipher the ingredients and preparation, so I can "knock off" the meal at home. This place is so wonderful, and nearby, I'd rather just come and enjoy someone else cooking! The comments below about the color and decor....really? It's beautiful, fresh and updated, and you feel transported out of the Midwest and to an coastal village out East. If you're wondering where to eat in the Thumb, it's no contest....eat here.
A great find and something of a gem for the area. We've been here several times (near our summer place in Lexington). I've always had good food, thoughtfully prepared, with attention to detail in the sauces and side dishes. In reading some of the reviews below, I'm very surprised. We're from Manhattan so used to a different food vibe. I mean, come on, someone complained because the menu changes ??? What??? It's seasonal and local! That's a good thing! Who complains about the wall color in a restaurant, but I see that mentioned a time or two here. Reminds me of the people who look at a new house and don't buy it because they don't like the color of the PAINT. The only thing I would suggest to the owners, and this may be because I'm from New York, is that the servers should be better trained. They're friendly and bring out the food hot and fast, but a little more training and professionalism would be nice. The food and drinks are very good, the wine list is CHEAP, and good, the view is AMAZING. They make their own butter, they make all their dressings and sauces from scratch, the carrot cake has buttercream cream cheese icing...need I say more? Go...just go...you'll see!
Uri's is a weird place to me. The chef there clearly knows what he's doing and seems to be making efforts to pull off 4 star food. I felt like a food critic seeing some of the dishes they've got there. Presentation is definitely not lost on Uri's. We got the crab taquitos as an appetizer and damn were they good. Looked good and tasted good. The other meals here seem to be slightly inventive takes on standard food that you'd expect in a place like this. Most items seem to have a little extra here or there to keep the cuisine from just being bland Big Boy type fare. We had to wait 10 minutes to get a table. Not because there was a wait; there was just no one at the front of the restaurant. We were about to leave when someone finally stopped by and said "oh, the hostess will seat you in a minute." Our waitress was lacking at best. Never came around for water refills, slow with the bill and takeout boxes, waited forever between drinks and appetizers, etc... I think if this restaurant got some fresher decor and somehow renewed the vigor of their waitresses this place could definitely be the place to go in the thumb for a bit of finer cuisine and a nice view.

Stayed here for one night last Tuesday night but would be willing to stay a few more if I was back in the area. Tom and Connie were great hosts and more than willing to have a conversation and fill us in about the area. Also nice enough to let you be on your own. Cottage appears to be a converted garage but once you walk inside you will be pleasantly surprised. Main part of cabin has a bathroom with shower and toilet, a very nice raised kitchen with all the appliances you might be used to and a small dining area that sits right next to the bed in this room. Gas fireplace, sofa, book shelf and small closet are here also. This part of the cottage is a little too crowded especially if there are more than two of you. Off of the dining area is a very large addition that has two beds, a couple of chairs and a flat screen TV with satellite. This room is done nicely in white pine panel but could use some comfy chairs. There is also a washer and dryer in this room hidden in a closet. All of this sits on 30 or 40 acres of woods and manicured lawn. Tom told us that there was a creek and a tree house about a quarter mile back in the woods but that some one was renting the tree house back there so we did not go back. We did see a deer right outside our back room on Wednesday morning. You have the option of getting breakfast here and Tom and Connie delivered it to our room at 9 am. Nice touch. For the $95 we paid this was a deal. Would definitely consider coming back.

Really nice place to stop along the Lake Huron shoreline. The place was very clean and decorated so nicely it felt festive and welcoming. The hostess was very friendly and offered a refreshment while we waited. Arrived during the dinner rush but only waited 10 minutes to be seated. Waitress was bubbly and offered suggestions on the menu which I went with. Portions where good and the taste of there steak was to die for. Prepared perfect and really juicy. The manager came over and we talked for a couple of minutes and he suggested a local winery and told of the history of the stone lodge. Really impressed and would recommend them if you want a great experience with great atmosphere.
What a nice little gem of a place. Considering where it's located, this is a dang good place. The menu has a little bit of everything you could want. The location is nice, the restaurant is nice, the service was wonderful !!! I had a steak. It was cooked perfectly and was delicious. My wife had a burger and it was also cooked to perfection. Folks, this isn't high-falootin' dining. But, it's great American cuisine done for a reasonable price. I'd venture to say this is the best place to eat in Port Sanilac and possibly anywhere in the area. You'd be wise to give it a try.
As a local, I may be a little biased here but.... This place is amazing! It's a cozy little place we love to eat at. I've never had a bad experience here! The wait staff is tentative and happy, the food is hot and the beer is cold! Stop in and start out with the portobello mushrooms as an appetizer you won't regret it!!

The owner of this establishment passed away last year. She is very much missed. Her son may be operating the motel, but the restaurant isn't open at this time. There are several other places to eat in Port Sanilac. Check out listings for Mary's Diner, The Stone Lodge, The Blue Water Inn, The Van Camp House, Uri's Landing, and a few miles north are Huron Shores Golf Course and The Forester Inn.
