We grabbed carry out from this place for lunch, they were kind enough to take our order even though they closed in literally two minutes! My husband had the perch hoagie and I got chicken strips and fries to share with the littler person. His sandwich was awesome and I wish I had more time to look at the menu but the strips were good. Plus we got service with a smile even though we were the last customers of the day.
We went to The Stock Pot after a dreary day of rain at our campground. The decor kinda looks like a pool hall minus the pool tables. But the food, damn! There were 5 of us and every one of us loved what we got. I had the fish sandwich with fries. You could taste that the fries were freshly cut potatoes. And the tartar sauce had fresh pickles slivers in it. I wouldn't exactly call this place a dive, but you can definitely tell that they put the effort into the food rather than decor. My friend had the Ruben and she loved it. Make sure you bring cash though, they dont accept credit. There is an ATM at the bar next door.
We didn't set out to have lunch at the stock pot, rather one of four other options that didn't open until 4pm. Overall the food was delicious, especially the homemade soups and the service was excellent. We arrived right before closing and they were happy to take care of us with a smile. The only negative is that they don't accept credit cards, but the ATM in the vestibule solved that issue ($2.50 transaction fee). We had a nice lunch with reasonable prices with great service. Well worth a visit if you're in the area.

My wife and I went here for breakfast after camping for a night with a couple friends in Wagener. We came here because it was on our way to kayaking in Port Austin. When we got to the restaurant around 10 AM, there were several people waiting outside as the place is tiny and extremely busy. We put our name in and we were told that it would be a twenty minute wait. I am happy to report that it was in fact a twenty minute wait, which we were all pumped about because we were getting hangry (when a person is so hungry that he or she becomes irritable) and there was no where else to get breakfast near Port Austin that we knew about. We were seated at a table for four in the corner and our waitress came right over and took our orders. It took another twenty minutes for us to get our food, but the waitress was super friendly, attentive, she brought our food to us piping hot, and she made sure we always had a full cup of coffee. I had the Lighthouse Special, which is two eggs, bacon, sausage patties, and ham. I asked for raisin bread with my breakfast, a glass of OJ, and later I had a glass of milk. The food was fresh, delicious, and warm, and the OJ and milk were refreshingly cold. So the things keeping this place from getting five stars are the wait (both the wait for a table and the wait for the food), the bathroom (unisex) was tiny, and there were a couple bugs flying around the restaurant. Besides that, I think that we will come back and have breakfast here again when we are in the area.
It's a small and quaint cafe. The service was slow (we came during lunchtime which was understandable). The staff that was seen out of the kitchen were all young and friendly. They did manage to mix up our order with the table next to us. That being said, the cook gathered them together and yelled at them. It's a small cafe so we heard everything the cook said and it made us uncomfortable. We felt bad for the girls who were waiting us so we gave them extra tip.
Absolutely dreadful. Salad was limp and brown. Fried chicken was previously cooked and just reheated. Place was dirty and run down.

I have eaten here twice this past week, so this rating is an average of the two. The first trip I was dying for some fish and chips-since my mom mentioned my little brother comes here for fish and chips I figured it must be good. I must say it started out excellent as the cole slaw seemed homemade and was outstanding! But then when the meal comes out tartar sauce is in a small pre-packaged kraft tartar sauce packet. Come on now! Tartar sauce is not that difficult to make and stores seemingly forever. Also, one small package of tartar sauce for three pieces of fish? My mother also ordered fish and chips and got the same. The second knock is choice of fish. Pollock is a decent fish, call me old school but it's not fish and chips unless it's cod or haddock. There were three large pieces (long and thin) and batter was light and crispy. My wife had a hamburger and fries. The patty seemed to be pre-made/frozen and was under cooked. Although the restaurant was not busy, service was slow. So this was about 2.5 out of 5. Three days later on my daughter's birthday, we were looking for a good pizza to order. The pizza place we had planned to order fell through (cash only and we didn't have enough on us at the time), my wife suggested we try Fireside Inn because the folks next to us when we were eating there had ordered one and it looked/smelled excellent. So very reluctantly, we ordered one for pickup (one large cheese, the other a large supreme-like) hoping we weren't going to end up with a bad pizza for birthday dinner. Both pizzas were fantastic, especially the supreme. They were even better reheated the next day in the oven. So the pizza was 3.5 out of 5 and one of the best that we've had in this area of rather limited choices.
Hey it's a bar. However the surprise is the great pizza. Their fish is pretty good. Rustic and charming.
While on vacation with my family we visited this restaurant. I found this to be the most normal restaurant we visited. The pizza, breadsticks, and salad were all good. It has a rustic/log cabin type decor. Compared to other restaurants in the area we found the prices to be very reasonable. Would visit again.

So we had lunch here on a Saturday afternoon just before Labor Day. Surprisingly there weren't a ton of people but overall we had a good experience. The service was good, but nothing stellar. For the small number of people in the restaurant it took quite a while for the chef to prepare our meals. My wife had the fish and chips and was very happy with it. I had the Waldorf chicken sandwich which was incredibly delicious and somewhat creative. The pizza looked yummy, but we didn't try any this visit. Prices were fair and the beer selection was pretty impressive. Overall, I'd definitely go back again especially since there really aren't a whole lot of choices in the area. I don't think if drive in haut to eat here, but it's well worth a visit if you're already in the area.
We have gone here for years.. But not very happy with this current staff. The service was awful. We met Friends there for dinner and asked for a table for 7, You would have thought I asked for a table for 20. We said we didn't mind waiting and played a few games of pool. When they said a table was ready they put at 2 tables next to each other. We asked if we could push them together and they said no. There was a table for 8 that needed cleaning but they didn't want to sit us there. So we sat down and then after a few minutes pushed the tables together. The hostess walked up, stops at the end of our table, and rolls her eyes at us. All we wanted was to have a dinner with friends with all the kids together. We had to get our own menus, they were out of mac n cheese, hot dogs, walleye and chocolate milk, on a Friday night!! We had to ask for bread, that came with our meal, multiple times.... It was like the entire wait staff was set against us because we moved a couple tables around...it took us 2.5 hours to eat our meal, And we left as soon as we were finished eating. Very disappointing. Very annoying meal with our kids who loved the place in the past. We are up here a lot, and we wont be back. Also the waitresses were wearing borderline offensive Tshirts... On the back it said we are Hookers on the weekends.. I really didn't find them very funny.
Expensive beers, terrible service to start. We walked in to captain Morgan's for a late night beer, from the moment we walked in the door every person in the bar stopped what they were doing to size us up. It was not a very welcoming experience. The bar tenders seemed uninterested in serving us and spent most the time socializing with the locals rather than doing their jobs. I would not recommend visiting this bar.

Service was horrible. Took 2 hours just to get our salads and the place wasn't even busy. Food was fair at best.
A nice atmosphere ruined by bad service and overpriced meals. Stopped in for lunch On the weekend & barely anyone else in the place, but basically ignored after we arrived and forgotten when served. The Farm is way better for the money.
Easily one of the worst places I have been in along time. My wife and I took the thumb road trip on our Harley's and we stopped here for lunch. Honestly we would have been better off brown bagging it. My fish sandwich was horrible. So much freezer burn on it, it was hardly edible. And the homemade potato chip, the only thing I can say is: what a joke. Over cooked and no flavor. My wife ordered the chicken tenders and paid quite a bit of money for what looked like a 4 piece chicken mc nuggets but not as much flavor. If there was a McDonald's, I would have much rather went there.
