Love Italia Gardens! Food is awesome (although I'm not a big fan of their ribs, but the Italian is great). Keep in mind, the gravy here is on the sweet side... If you like more savory, herbed Italian gravy, you might not love it. Try something without red sauce!! Bread baked on premises, table salad (which they refill as you request), kids can make their own pizza. Oh and the specials!!! Buy one, get one. Kids night. 35 cent pasta night. Staff is always pleasant & attentive. It's a great value... especially for families!

Ordered carry-out from there tonight and I'm disappointed to say the least. I had placed an order for spaghetti and meatballs.. simple, right? Once I got home I opened up the box and come to find out that there were no meatballs. C'mon guys! You had one job to do.

I will not complain about the food it is actually quite good (not great) really happy with our meals. The problem is with their policies. You can't split a meal as it will cost you an extra $4 or get free refrills. There is too many other options in the area for this nonsense.

Another visit and another great experience. Try adding spicy sausage or meatballs to your meal, great stuff. Good salad and great bread. Calzones are good as well and of course the cannolis are perfect.

I want to give the place a worse review just out of principle...but it's actually a pretty decent little Italian place despite what you are about to read. Okay, lets get the mostly positive review out of the way first: The food is good. Yes, the marinara sauce is on the sweet side. If you don't like that, you shouldn't order it. I like it. All of the pasta dishes are good. If you have kids, let them go up to the oven and make their own pizza. It's really a fun little experience for them and not something you see all the time. Its a very kid-friendly place....sort of....which brings me to my big complaint and reason to not go back: KETCHUP. Look, I get it...you are trying to make a point "we serve good food" but I am puzzled as to why you chose to take such a stance against an American staple condiment? Its such a silly thing to take a stance against. Why can't we have ketchup? It is so crazy to think that you would alienate customers because you don't want to serve it. Are you so successful that you would turn away business simply because you don't like ketchup. This is really the strangest thing I have ever had to write. It's so ridiculous and extremely pretentious. It's not like you are some exclusive Michelin star restaurant with a waiting list for reservations. You are a tiny little establishment in a tiny little town and serve pretty good (not great) Italian food. GET OVER YOURSELF. If my wife wants ketchup, I don't understand why that's a strange and unacceptable request for you. Were you assaulted with a ketchup bottle as a child? Were you made to eat only ketchup in a POW camp? If not...I really cannot fathom why you would want to prevent people from enjoying something SO COMMON that NOBODY would even think to ask "do you have ketchup available" when they came in. Sorry. It just makes no sense to me.

The food and service are great every time I have come here for dinner. There is never a wait and they have great specials. I enjoy the pizza as well as the spaghetti and meatballs. I come here often and will keep coming back!

Just ate lunch here. Moved from Texas and one of the most terrible dining experiences I have ever had. No service the pizza came out after we ate our main food. No refills on drinks. I never write reviews but this place is just awful. We will never go there again. Save your time and money and go somewhere else. Small portions and food was too greasy. Just stay away and find somewhere else to eat.

Sauce is way too sweet. Bread was not what I expected. Wish they had some dishes that were with just garlic and oil tossed in instead of sugar sauce. Or maybe even a white sauce with garlic in it. Side of meatballs was very good. Service was good.

Wonderful value for the price. Great family restaurant. Being an older couple we love it. The little ones can "create" their own pizza. Their specials are amazing, check out the ones for each day. We have had wonderful food. Not gourmet, but really good, and a lot of food for the price. Great deal for everyone. Staff is very accomodating. They have an area for large parties. Try it at least once. I promise you will be back. We have been eating there for at least 6 years. Never knew I could review it. Go, you won't be disappointed. Norma Peters

Very nice place. Great staff and atmosphere. Not particularly fancy but nice. The style of Italian food is a little different in that their sauce is sweet, but not overly sweet. I find it a nice change of pace from other Italian food. They have many nights with specials. Highly recommend.

Italia Gardens never disappoints. Service is consistent and attentive. The food is fantastic. Prices are competitive. The staff is so warm and welcoming, even when we show up 30 minutes before closing. My absolute favorite meal is the Sicilian sausage platter with skewers of spicy sausage, onion and green bell peppers. It's a fantastic combination and guaranteed to give you leftovers. Try to come on special nights (kids eat free Monday, Two-for-Tuesday, 35¢ pasta Wednesday and BOGO ribs Thursdays). The ribs are so delicious and fall off the bone! They also offer local wines, which as a teetotaler, I haven't tried. :) Hubby says their cannoli are the best he's ever tasted. I have never had a bad meal there, and I recommend this restaurant highly.

Good Italian food at fair price. The portions are very generous so be prepared to have leftovers to take home. By the way, the fresh baked bread is awsome.

My family goes here every week. We all love it. Its delicious, not very expensive, and the portions are huge! You could easily split an entree, as they give as much salad and bread as you could ever eat. I ordered a take out meal, and it was enough for two meals, maybe three. Also, we brought my little cousin once, and when he ordered pizza, they let him stand next to the brick oven to help make it, and pull it out. He loved it! They're never very busy, probably because they are new. Though its not saying much, definitely the best restaurant in Oxford!

From the moment you walk into this small place in northern Oakland county you know you have found something different. From the brick oven bread to the fresh salads there is something for everyone. Huge portions for a small price. A+

Not being much of a fan of Italian food, Italia Gardens should be proud of the 4 stars I'm giving them. The second I walked in, and saw the huge, brick wood-burning oven to my left, I knew that I would enjoy my meal here. The bread to start is good (although I'm a sucker for bread--i like it all!), but the salads here are actually kind of weak, very simple and not much to them. I ordered the Chicken Tetrazinni with melted cheese on top--AWESOME. The pasta was good, the sauce was creamy, and the chicken in the dish was juicy and delicious. My one complaint is, I guess, that the portions are WAY too huge!!! I mean, I like getting a good value, but the quantity of delicious food in front of me caused me to eat WAY too much, just saying. That said, come to Italia Gardens for some good Italian food, a few glasses of wine, and you'll leave with enough leftovers for at least 1, if not 2 more meals!

I wasn't expecting much since restaurants seem to come and go in this location, but I was pleasantly surprised. I've been there twice and had fettucine alfredo and lasagne. Both were really good, didn't taste like canned sauce or anything. Most dinners include salad for the table (like Olive Garden) and bread, but it's a big round loaf instead of breadsticks. It seems like they bake loaves early in the day and reheat them in their brick oven before serving. It makes the bread a bit crusty for my taste, but it's not bad.

Love the piping hot, homemade italian bread. I could just fill up on that and salad, have a glass of wine and take the entree home in its entirety. I'm kidding, but the bread and salad that come with the meal is always delicious and like Olive Garden, it's unlimited, but it's not served out sparingly like they do at Olive Garden. This is homemade goodness. It's more like traditional authentic Italian than most Italian style restaurants. I've been to every Italia Gardens location and they are all consistent. The ribs are delectable and so is every pasta dish they make. Servers are warm and cordial and the wait time for meals is usually not too long, considering it's all homemade. The marinara sauce is better than any canned jar sauce out there and hits just the right balance of sweet and savory.

No matter what I order, its great! Tuesday, buy one get one free. Huge Italian salad and warm, homemade bread fresh out of their lobby oven. Always friendly service even when this place is packed.

I'm surprised we hadn't visited here before, since living here for almost four years, but it seems to be on our radar now. My daughter attended a birthday party here over the summer, and now we have two 'dine to donate' events in less than two weeks here. They seem to be a great restaurant to have in the community. Our first dine to donate here was last weekend, and we went for a family dinner. Both kids opted to make their own pizzas, and the gentleman who brought them up to the oven to do this was great. The salad we started with was great. I liked the taste of the dressing, and the black olives really hit the spot. The kids didn't share the bread with me, but my daughter really liked the garlic butter. I had the parmesan crusted white fish and it was delicious. Oddly enough, the broccoli was just meh. I usually love my veggies! Hubby had the pesto pizza, but unfortunately our three-year-old melted down before he got to eat it. I didn't get a chance to ask him about it after he ate it at home. Overall, we had good food, and the atmosphere was comfy. This would definitely be somewhere I would recommend to a group who wanted to enjoy a meal and each other's company.

Italian Cuisine

The immense popularity of Italian cuisine globally isn't unknown. You can find an Italian Pizzeria around every corner of almost every city in the United States. Not to forget that in every house, people enjoy mac and cheese as comfort food. But it would be wrong to believe that Italian food starts with pizza and ends with good pasta as this Mediterranean country has much more to offer other than these two dishes. In Italian Cuisine, there is a high use of fresh tomatoes, all kinds of herbs, great quality of cheese, all types of meat, seafood and fresh handmade pasta. Many find it hard to believe that Italians have been making noodles long back.

Italian and Greek cuisines are always mistaken to be same, but they are poles apart. The primary difference between the two cuisines is the use of cheese in most of the Italian dishes. Italians love to cultivate their own cheese and process them as per their food requirement. It is believed that some cheese is so expensive that cheese producers secure them in lockers.

If you are bored eating the same old pasta or pizza, you can try some of the authentic Italian dishes like Risotto, Polenta, Ribollita, Lasagna, Fiorentina Steak, Bottarga, Ossobuco, Carbonara, Focaccia, Arancini and Supplì. Another item which Italians love to relish every morning is a good cup of Italian Coffee. Once you taste a freshly brewed cup of Italian Coffee, you might not visit Starbucks ever again. Authentic Italian food is made with heart and soul, so go find a restaurant where you can relish Italian cuisine in your city.
