We went here for lunch today. No wait. Friendly waiter. Good food. My only problem was they really aren't generous with handing out breadsticks anymore. There were two of us, and they brought out three. So we asked for more, and they brought out two more. Which bummed us out, because we wanted to take some home.

They used almost the same menu during 4 years. Taste like garbage

UPDATE: I received a personal phone call from the manager, Josh, who was terribly nice and awfully embarrassed about how things went for me on Monday night, and an email from the corporate office stating how sorry they were, along with a promise of a gift card (Josh said $30!!) that had been mailed out already. All I can say is WOW, great way to follow up, Olive Garden. And this is not a sarcastic comment, I really mean it. Most managers would just shrug it off and say Oh well what's one bad review/complaint? But they really handled it well. Josh asked me specific questions about staff and my experience, and I had to be honest, so somebody might be gettin' a scolding, but she deserves it. I am a professional secretary so customer service is my main concern. If you're tired, HIDE IT. Don't ignore your customers and then complain within earshot of them. I will be returning to Olive Garden because - I DO love the food and atmosphere.

So I attended here with my girlfriends parents for her mothers birthday, and while my food was very good, my girlfriends brother found a rather long hair in his food. Not something you really like to hear about, let alone find in your food.

Food has always been great but recently my wife and I ate there and she found blood on the toilet seat in the women's room. She informed the male manager who sent a female hostess in to check it out and take care of it. She goes in and comes right back out saying there is no blood. My wife takes her back in and shows it to her and again she does not clean it up and tells the manager it is "nothing" just a little smear. Yuck blood is blood and needs to be cleaned up! Could get an infection from it! What other health hazards could they be ignoring?

Anyone with a half trained palate can tell everything is served fresh from the freezer. Come for the unlimited soup and breadsticks (meh), stay for the unlimited salad- now hat's a keeper. Big olives, all the cheese you can ask for, and a light dressing. C'mon, folks, Italian is a breeze to make at home. Don't support this chain.

As far as food goes, it's not like walking into Italy, but the food's delicious. I'm not a pasta lover and there are plenty of dishes with lighter pasta available. I love the shrimp fritta appetizer and the steak Gorgonzola Alfredo; I recommend you ask for the steak to be cooked less done than you want, a lot of times it is over cooked (just being honest). They also have gluten free pasta and a whole gluten free menu. And they sample wine for free!

I LOVE Olive Garden and really have never had a complaint about the service. Tonight wasn't too bad but we did have a waitress that didn't seem to care for her job. She don't have a sense of urgency about getting our dishes out of the way and forgot about a request we had for our 2nd salad refill but other than that the food is delicious as always. The unlimited salad and bread sticks is by far my favorite. I also enjoyed an overpriced piece of chocolate mousse cake but it was tasty.

IS THIS THE ONLY RESTAURANT IN TOWN? I don't get it. There is not a time of day, nor day of week that Olive Garden does not have at least a half hour wait! There's a Chili's right next door, and NOBODY goes there! I only come here for the Minestrone soup and salad, but they're really good! But Not really a Vegetarian friendly place, but what they do have is OK. But for as average Olive Garden is, I don't understand why it is always so packed. Maybe the people of Okemos think this is a classy night out or something compared to the College town fanfare that permeates the area.

This isn't exactly the classiest Italian place in the Okemos area, however, I must say, their whole wheat pasta was surprisingly good. The prices are reasonable to moderate, which makes up for the tacky chairs on wheels. The breadsticks and soup/salad are never-ending -- not exactly figure friendly. Essentially, if you're looking for a quick and inexpensive and slightly fulfilling Italian feast, Olive Garden is an OK choice.

Well, it's an Olive Garden, but after the Carrabbas scare and the Bravo scare (Norwalk virus! Twice!) at the "ritzier" Italian chains, I'm sticking to my old familiar. This is the only place where I can get cheap fruity red wine (Lambrusco) and make it look classy (cause it's $4 a bottle at the grocer...can anyone say Champipple?). The food is pretty good, I actually just order the minestrone and salad and no one makes either entree quite like Olive Garden. They do have a lock on that market. Good for lunches or that common midpriced midweek dinner.

We entered on a Monday evening and found no wait time and most of the tables (that we could see) empty, so they did not appear busy that night. We were promptly greeted by a nice lady and immediately seated at a booth we requested. Then our waitress came, shoved a bottle of wine in our face told us the brand and said let me give you a complementary wine. There was no introduction from the waitress of who she was and no "how are you today," just a rather grumpy, unpleasant person. We turned her down and asked for 3 half glasses of Lambrusco. We asked for half glasses since none of us drink that much. She did offer us a quartino (not sure if that's what is was called, but that's close), which is a glass and a half of wine. That worked out perfectly. Then 15 minutes later we got our drinks and even though we were ready to order we had to wait another 15 minutes for her to come back take our menu order. My one friend and I ordered the lobster cannelloni with a bowl of zuppa toscana. My other friend ordered the 5 cheese ziti with a bowl of minestrone. It only took about 5 minutes to get our soups and breadsticks after ordering. I don't usually like the Olive Garden breadsticks, there is way too much salt and tonight was no exception. The soup on the other hand was good for all three of us. Then about 20 minutes later we got our food. When it came she said the plates were hot. We found that the food was rather cold. The cannelloni shells themselves had been over cooked and were mushy. The lobster had no flavor other than the taste that someone dumped the salt shaker in it. I ate one half of a cannelloni and could not eat anymore. The 5 cheese ziti again tasted like salt and was swimming in grease. My friend took a few bites and could not eat anymore. We decided not to send the dish back because the grumpy waitress kind of scared us. Since we were still hungry from not being able to eat our food we thought we couldn't go wrong with dessert. For the most part that was true. It took us 15 minutes to find our waitress whom we hadn't seen for about 30. Then we ordered a berries and zabaione an order of zeppoli with chocolate sauce and a cappuccino. The waitress had no idea what the berries and zabaione was until I showed her on the menu. She said it was new so she had not heard of it. Here's a fun fact: the Olive Garden has had this pretty yummy treat on their menu every summer for the past few years at least. I go to the Olive Garden a few times a year and try to go when they have this dish. It didn't take us too long this time to get the dessert. For safe measure I had her bring the check with dessert lest we wait another 30 minutes to pay. The dessert was not too bad. The berries and zabaione were pretty good. The berries were fresh and crisp, the custard was OK, but seemed to lack flavor. The sorbet on the other hand was very frozen and mostly iced. The zeppoli were nice, hot and fluffy with a good amount of powered sugar, I thought the chocolate sauce was OK, but my friend said it tasted like mothballs. The cappuccino would have been hard to ruin. It tasted good and was nice and hot. We paid and left vowing not to return, at least until we forget why we weren't going back. But, thanks to this post we will always remember why. Overall I give it 2/5 stars and would not recommend it to a friend.

Italian Cuisine

The immense popularity of Italian cuisine globally isn't unknown. You can find an Italian Pizzeria around every corner of almost every city in the United States. Not to forget that in every house, people enjoy mac and cheese as comfort food. But it would be wrong to believe that Italian food starts with pizza and ends with good pasta as this Mediterranean country has much more to offer other than these two dishes. In Italian Cuisine, there is a high use of fresh tomatoes, all kinds of herbs, great quality of cheese, all types of meat, seafood and fresh handmade pasta. Many find it hard to believe that Italians have been making noodles long back.

Italian and Greek cuisines are always mistaken to be same, but they are poles apart. The primary difference between the two cuisines is the use of cheese in most of the Italian dishes. Italians love to cultivate their own cheese and process them as per their food requirement. It is believed that some cheese is so expensive that cheese producers secure them in lockers.

If you are bored eating the same old pasta or pizza, you can try some of the authentic Italian dishes like Risotto, Polenta, Ribollita, Lasagna, Fiorentina Steak, Bottarga, Ossobuco, Carbonara, Focaccia, Arancini and Supplì. Another item which Italians love to relish every morning is a good cup of Italian Coffee. Once you taste a freshly brewed cup of Italian Coffee, you might not visit Starbucks ever again. Authentic Italian food is made with heart and soul, so go find a restaurant where you can relish Italian cuisine in your city.
