We had this awesome little cafe earlier today. It's inside of the greenfield plaza and it's called Kabob Cafe. It was sooooo #Delish. We ordered the chicken cream chops it came with rice, hummus, and garlic spread for 11.99. The man at the register was so friendly and had a big smile on his face which really goes a long way with us. The owner made our food. After tasting it we had 5 more orders it was that damn good. This place used to be Royal Grill that had great food, but it had dirty, old, unkempt decor and made u wonder about the safety of the food. Now it's the 9 oaks and they kept the same food, which is awesome classic favorites and the place looks updated and modern. The coneys are the best, kogel hot dogs with the skin, Detroit Block chili and steamed buns. The breakfast sausage is thr best I've ever had, also. Delicious!! A must try over any other Coney restuarant in the area!
I have enjoyed breakfast and lunch there. GREAT food and GREAT people. Love the size of the restaurant, reminds of big city cafes. I love the restaurants diversity too.
Great little diner, good affordable diner food that tastes very good. Fast polite service. Tucked into a strip mall off a busy main road. We did observe some customers acting like their meal was substandard in an attempt to get money off their meal, even though the effort was not creditable. The staff said that happens several times per day. The neighborhood looks safe, however.

Been going there since I was in college (1970s). Best chocolate chip horns. Best challah Went this morning before work and they weren't set up yet but went I'm back to find my horn. In response to the person unhappy with the service the employees are usually Russian and speak little English They could be unintentionally rude
This bakery is a block from my new house, and I WANT to love it there, but it's just not happening. The place is disorganized and nothing's labeled--which would be find if I could get the staff to interact with me even a little bit, but they're always busy doing...i'm not sure what. I'll keep trying!
The VERY BEST seeded rye bread on the planet!

It's as good as it gets for me, I have been to Pita Cafe at least 9 times...and I always end up smelling like I bathed in garlic and in full satisfaction mode for days on end. Pure heaven!! I love their chicken shawarma sandwich...at $3.99 it's a steal...yesterday I had the Greek Fattoush with chicken shawarma....and I have finally proclaimed that this is my favorite salad....of all time...the seasonings are so good, that even though the dressing is amazing, it really doesn't need it because the salad alone is SO GOOD!!! It's SO GOOD!!! I'm getting another on Monday...because it's SO GOOD!!!!! haha...I also got some hummous and garlic spread with half a dozen fresh bread for later in the evening...so good...so SO GOOD!! I was introduced to Pita Cafe when I started working in Southfield nearly 2 years ago, and it really has been some of the BEST Middle Eastern cuisine I have had... A Lebanese gent I dated for a spell agreed with me too...he thought the food was very good... It's seriously my favorite... The staff is super amazing...I've eaten in, and done carry out, and all the time it's wonderful! I have had the kibbe, falaffel, lentl soup...and much more...I could eat here daily....in fact, I may ask to have a part time job here very soon...as I have just this minute decided I must eat Meditteranean every day....yes...every day now...I shall eat something from here :-) hehehe
The falafel is really cheap and delicious, the veggie platter was good too. the waiters are not overly chatty or too friendly but SO prompt. it was fantastic!
The Food is great. but they have shady people working there, i was out of town for 45 days never using my discover credit card. first and only transaction home was pita cafe in southfield, next morning i have 3 fraudulent transactions on my card. Ufties

I eat out alot.. sometimes you want classic eats .. you know a coney and fries or maybe a Ceasars salad with seasoned grilled chicken. Or maybe a really good Gyro.. well look no further than here .. come in and roll up your sleeves and dive in... btw they have awesome soup.. not just chili.
Great place to get a coney. Fries are fresh and hot and they actually put enough chili on the hotdog so it's covered completely unlike the other coney places. Food is good service is quick and reasonably priced. Yes they only take cash but it's not expensive here.
Known for there famous chili, Davison is okay in my book. The Grilled Chicken Salad was really good. The lettuce was fresh, tomatoes and cucumbers, onion plentiful. I like that they give you a good portion of chicken, not the typical 3 strips or half breast. Overall I like Davison, the bad part is the limited hours. They are open only until 6pm during the week, shorter hours on the weekend and during the winter. Very antique set up and I swear the cash register is older than my mom (yes my mom). Lol However, the food is known in Oak Park and every thing has been really good including the Coney dogs. Tip: Make sure you carry cash as they do not take credit or debit cards.

Wing’s Gardens

Reviews:
I had very high hopes for this place after reading all the reviews and pulling up to a full parking lot. On a Saturday evening the place was pretty busy both takeout and dine-in customers. Now on to the food. I order a sesame chicken combination that came with plain fried rice, an egg roll and a dinner roll. Upon receiving my food all I could smell was garlic. The rice didn't have any flavor barely tasted fried. The chicken was lightly breaded not thick like most places. Not the best sesame chicken. Egg roll is bean sprout nothing special. Overall price is great for the portion but based off this meal it's nothing I'd go bragging about.
I didn't really like Wing's Gardens at all. I thought it was really disappointing and it was not very good overall. First, I ordered a coke and there weren't free refills. Who does that? Second, I ordered the szechuan chicken. I asked for a medium level of spice and it was completely mild. It tasted as if it wasn't even prepared szechuan style. Third, the service was not very attentive and it took a while for us to order and for her to ask if everything is ok. Fourth, the ambiance was not very nice. The walls were bare and it didn't even seem very clean. Fifth, it was pretty smokey. I guess this won't be a problem soon, but it was still annoying. Alas, this was just a Chinese restaurant with all your typical Chinese fair. It was not anything special and there were many disappointments. I wouldn't go back.
It really is a fact that finding a good, consistent Chinese restaurant is kind of difficult. When it comes to the Americanized Chinese food we all know and love, many places are all over the board. Almond chicken gravy and sweet and sour sauce is like a coat of many colors depending on where you go. Wing's Garden is the best. My husband and I have frequented this place for the five years we've lived down the street in Ferndale. It's a gem. It's even our Christmas day tradition now. The portion sizes are HUGE, and the prices are cheap. We usually get the "family dinner for two." It's two choices of entrees (we get sesame chicken and almond chicken), fried rice, soup for both, egg roll for both and rolls for both. It's $17.95 for the whole sha-bang. No joke, the almond chicken comes with FOUR chicken breasts in this meal. Four, whole, battered and fried chicken breasts. The dinner for two is really enough for three or four if you order extra rice and sides. The food is always piping hot fresh. The wonton soup is fantastic and I'm a big fan of the egg roll. The servers are very attentive and friendly. The decor is old school plastic decorations, but it's clean. The pop is from cans, so no refills, but whatever. It's really a gem if you're looking for high quality and low prices.

I had a great sub from here. This was the first place I have found in Detroit that has good subs. They have fried onion chips which are good as well. The lady behind the counter was friendly and acted like she wanted to execute good customer service. So if you are in the mood for a tasty sub, with Tubby's famous sauce on it...take a chance...you might like it!

Small town diner with large portions...LOTS of options to choose from whether you're there for breakfast, lunch or dinner. On a whole, you can't go wrong with anything. Nice waitstaff too. The whole in the wall type atmosphere with the ugly printed carpet adds to the charm I think LOL but its clean inside. If you're in Oak Park, stop by. Wish it was open a little later tho .
This is a local favorite!! I have been coming here for years. With that being said..a few things have changed. 1. Their pecan pancakes which used to be more a desert breakfast.. Is now just regular pancakes with pecans. Such a let down!. 2. The prices have went up 3.and the portion can now only feed two instead of 3 ( which I guess is okay) Stick to the omelettes.. They are the only thing that hasn't changed
Great place, food, service, I always know I will have to share and still have some for later.

Pros: +Huge Portions +Great Pricing Cons: +Needs a face-lift A friend of mine took me to this place and I'm hooked! After visiting a few times I'm shocked at how this place can profit from giving you so much for so little. I absolutely love the taste of the food here, I've never ordered anything I did not like and they are more than willing to let you experiment with different sauces and combinations when you order. The first thing you notice is that it's in a plaza that is more than half vacant but don't be discouraged! The inside is reminiscent of the 80's but so are food prices. For about $8-9 dollars for a dinner you get your choice of soups, chips and plum dipping sauce, egg roll and hot mustard, brown or white rice, HUGE two-person portions of chicken/beef/seafood etc, Ice Cream and Hot Tea afterwards! My only complaint is that this place needs a little renovation the facility is looking very date and the minor annoyance of the waitstaff yelling across the restaurant in mandarin Chinese makes me feel like I'm in someones kitchen. I love this place and I especially love "Mama" the cute Chinese grandmother I never had who runs the show.
I never would have known about this place had it not been for a bridal shower I attended a couple of weeks ago. Loved the food and the service! Last evening, decided to head there for a carry-out. The place was packed and regulars were coming in for take out. The owner greeted the regulars like family. My take out order was HUGE and the food was fantastic! 5 Stars for this tucked-away JEWEL in Oak Park. If you haven't tried them, you are truly missing something. It's the best Chinese food I have ever eaten. Friends who have been there agree! Give them a try! Great food, great service, great prices!
After 3 years, I returned! After joining my brethren at the movies, we all made it to the area Chinese restaurants for the traditional Christmas dinner. Peking House was a nightmare - there had to be 50 people waiting for a table. So, on the road, this was our next choice. I did try to call ahead, but I'm pretty sure they didn't write anything down. It was just so insane. There were 20-30 people waiting for a table when we came at 6:30, and the place was just crazy. Lots of people were getting take-out, too, and there seemed to be issues with wrong orders. It took a very long time to get menus and our food, but most of us were pretty satisfied. I had the vegetable combo plate, which was, in fact, a combination of vegetables on a plate. It included some very tasty mushrooms, and tofu which was remarkably better than what I'd eaten the last time. Everybody agreed, though, that our food was rather salty. The rainbow sherbet was a nice option for dessert. Considering the sheer madness of the place, service was pleasant. The decor is not pretty, and the owner might be a little surly, but if you are looking to fight your way to a table on Christmas, this is a fine option.
