Won't go back. Older woman behind counter was rude!!! Hope she wasn't owner, if so, shame on her. If not she should be fired. Young girl working beside her looked scared to death to be working with her so maybe she was. Bakery wasn't that special to get another visit and I go to Northport every year.

First thing's first, if you are in Northport you MUST make a stop at Barb's. You should get a couple cinnamon twists and a couple cherry (or other fruit) danishes and try and pick which is your favorite because they are both amazing!! But definitely make sure to get there early!! Those two run out particularly fast. Delicious!!!

Yummy, yum, yum! We had one of the best old fashion donuts ever! And the cinnamon twisty thing was out of this world. Coffee... eh... I'd skip it next time! But 2 baked goods and a cup of coffee for $3.XX? It's a steal!

I hate giving this review because of Barb's deserved accolades for her products, but the last three times we've been up north we've not been able to enjoy breakfast here -- it's either not open or else they've run out of baked goods. I understand that this is a tiny operation, but I want to think that in tourist country, where people tend not to be up at the crack of dawn on weekends, provision would be made to have enough food to satisfy customer demand even during the brunchier, 9:00-10:00-ish end of breakfast. Please understand that this isn't a commentary on the quality of the food, just the logistics of the business. And we're speaking as occasional visitors who don't always understand the business hours or peak customer times of local food hotspots -- we just hear about deliciousness and try to enjoy it too and are disappointed.

Amazing donuts. We tried the plain cake donut, boston crème, raspberry jelly, and soft glazed. Very friendly service. The coffee was decent. The seating is not great, unless you plan on bringing 6 people to the donut shop with you to sit at big tables. Smaller tables would be better.

Driving through Northport and I saw Barb's out of the corner of my eye. It sounded familiar so I asked my fella to pull over as I pondered. Then I remembered it was an honorable mention on MLive's best doughnuts in the state piece. So, naturally I had to try them. We were there on a Wednesday so it wasn't that busy. Apparently on the weekends the doughnuts go by 10am but there were plenty to be had by 2pm that day. We got one of each available--a glazed pretzel shaped doughnut, glazed cake, chocolate glazed cake, and custard filled with chocolate. A few we got two of (because, why not?) and it came to about $5. The doughnuts were fab. The best I've ever had? Probably not. But pretty good. I'm more of a yeast glazed doughnut kinda gal and the pretzel shaped doughnut here was fab. Sizable (seriously huge) and melted in my mouth. The cake had a great flavor and was nice and dense. Maybe a little on the drier side but that's to be expected with cake vs. yeast. The glazes were also fab and the custard in the custard filled was excellent. The space is small and decorated a bit like a cross behind an antique store and a tea shop. A few benches out front to sit at once you have your goodies but generally no where to sit. Cash only.

I used to come to Barb's as a kid and loved it. The cinnamon twists are still the best I've had, but when I recently came in as an adult I noticed a ceramic Mammy figurine prominently displayed in a case near the counter. I hope that they remove this racist and painful symbol sometime very soon. 2015 is already much too late.

Fantastic little bakery. They have a limited selection of fresh delicious pasteries and doughnuts. Coffee leaves something to be desired and there is no bathroom. Atmosphere is so quaint and homey it feels like you have time warped to another generation. Recommend the cinnamon sticky buns, cinnamon twists and bavarian cream doughnuts.

Barb's is a bakery and a half...the very best. Please do not buy her cinnamon twists, as there may not be enough for me. We buy them (if we placed an order the night before) for a whole tray. The doughnuts and pies are great as well.

One of the best bakeries, period! Everything they make is fabulous. Have been coming here for years and will continue. When the "kids" come up to visit, we always leave with a sackful of goodies to eat at marina park. Barb's is a fixture in the north country and is not to be missed, but the earlier you come, the better the selection, since they are so popular.

Okay Barb's, you've been given an upgrade! Your apricot squares (or whatever they're called), and DELICIOUS. I could eat an entire tray. Cinnamon twists, watch out. You have some competition now.
