I love this place ! Has the best food and servers! Go on Sunday to get the humongous cinnamon roll. Always great atmosphere! I love the Harris's!

Had the Pacific Rim 12" pizza and it was delicious. Not too much BBQ sauce and not too many of each topping. Our waiter, Reggie, was kind, polite, and attentive.

Booked a party here for 30 people in the private party room and everything was superb. Staff was attentive and everything was perfect. A great night and great food.

Updating a previous review. The food is still mediocre; however, I have had some recent experiences with servers that deserve particular mention: Kara and Bethany. Finally, staff at this place that understand how to attend to customers. Two absolutely fantastic servers. I will only go back when either of these two ladies are on duty.

It is rare to find a restaurant that has quality food and is kid friendly. Went here with my in laws and two kids and everyone found something they enjoyed. My husband and in-laws shared a pizza and the kids got to make their own pie and watch it being put in the oven. I ordered the insalata rustica which was delicious and a perfect portion. The arugula with salty prosciutto and slightly sweet vinagarette way exceeded my expectations. The service was prompt and friendly. Overall a great night out with the family.

I will admit, when I walked in here i expected something more along the line of olive garden. however the place was decorated very nicely. The waitress informed us about a 2 items for $20 which also included a house salad. We got the margherita pizza and pasta in a wine sauce. pizza was decent, cheese combo they use is quite strong. the pasta was decent, a bit soggy but overall good. the highlight for me was the house salad. huge portions and just down right great. everyone was blown away by it. the bread, asiago, olive oil combo was also quite good. prices overall were just great. i would totally return here in the future. side note, i would say pretty kid friendly for the families.

Went here for the first time with my wife and it was great. We got the hummus for an appetizer and the Skeetown pizza. The food was great though the service was a little slow even though it wasn't that busy. Will definitely be back to try out more of the menu!

Saw the good ratings so we decided to give it a try. We won't be back due to the service but the food wasn't all that fantastic either. The hostess was friendly and polite. Server was ok. Not very friendly, just kinda there. Never once mentioned the specials. They were supposed to have a 2 for $22 meal deal and 1/3 off appetizers for happy hour. We found nothing that said anything about or explained the meal deal other than a sign on the wall. We heard another table ask about it and the server had no idea what it was (its on a permanent sign on the wall, how can they not know???). We ended up not asking about or getting the meal deal since my husband wanted a large pizza and assumed that the meal deal only came with a small (not sure because it was never explained to us). We did order an appetizer and we were not given the 1/3 happy hour price even though we were there at the right time. Customers shouldn't have to beg to get the advertised prices and specials should be presented and explained. Don't have specials if you are going to force the customer to beg for it. Water was never refilled but bread was. Dessert was never presented to us either and was not on the menu. Maybe they don't have it. We started off with the toasted cheese ravioli. They were large and cheesy. Not sure I would order them again (I won't because we won't go back, haha). They just needed something more, like garlic or something in them. I ordered gnocchi. My bad. It was dense and gluey. Should have known not to order gnocchi from a place that doesn't do real Italian. My meal was warm but not hot. My daughter had fettuccine alfredo. It came out just barely warm. Alfredo sauce had a black pepper type spice to it but not that great of a flavor. The applesauce side is just a store bought applesauce cup. They didn't even bother to put it in a dish for presentation. Kids meal was supposed to come with dessert. It was never offered to us, another service issue. My husband ordered the Blanco Pizza. It had good flavor but in no way would I call it wood fired and definitely would not have guessed they cooked it in a wood fire stove if I hadn't seen it. The dough was soft and thick, not what a wood fired pizza should be. Kinda tasted like Papa John's flavored crust. Crust was just barely browned. Perhaps the temperature was not high enough? Over all the meal cost in the $55.00 range and wasn't really worth it. Over all I'd compare this place to a chain restaurant. Maybe its good food compared to the other options in town but service is what really sunk this ship.

Yummy Italian food. Wonderful atmosphere. I come here often! The pizza is delicious, cooked in a woodfire oven. Everything is homemade! Toasted raviolis, boneless wings, italian nachos...all fantastic! We eat here once a week. Great for a date, family night out or hanging with friends. Great vibe!

I must say that my meal at Verdonis was one of the best I've had in Muskegon. The crispy brussels sprouts were delicious and the meat pizza was spot on. The prices weren't bad either. Next time I come up from New Orleans, Verdonis will be first on my list of places to go out and eat.

Mediocre and overpriced. I had one good meal here once upon a time and have tried it several times since with only marginal success. I wouldn't recommend this place with so many other great restaurants in the area.

Quite a unique spot in the little yet old town of Muskegon. The interior looks and feels like an expensive NY restaurant as it is clean, modern and classy. The lunch menu is offered many nice options of pizza, pasta sandwiched and salads and equipt with a robust wine list that was second to very few. All pastas, breads and sauces are made in house so I thought to order a simple lunch as I knew a return meal for dinner was already in my future. I sat at the bar and enjoyed attentive service from the bartender who's name escapes me. The olive oil poured over grated Parmesan cheese was a new offering to me, but it worked well to stimulate the palate. I ordered the Grandma pizza 16" with a bowl of Italian Wedding soup as my starter. The soup was wonderful, meatballs were well seasoned, yet I found it a tad too salty. The pizza could have used another few minutes in the imported and authentic Italian brick oven, as the crisp was not as crisp as I prefer. Verdonis certainly won me over as a great authentic Italian eatery in Western Michigan and look forward to many dinners there in the near future.

The service was flawless. Yet, in the words of my delicious fiancee, whom was less than impressed, "I could've gotten better pasta at Fazoli's."

Nice atmosphere, comprehensive menu, Tuscana soup, good bread, Skitown pizza. All of it tasted great. Highly recommended. Excellent wait staff.

Stopped in on a Sunday morning with some family for the bloody mary bar. There were 6 of us, 4 bloody marys, 2 nondrinkers. We got the bloody mary with absolute which I believe was $6, came with a side of beer and granted us access to the bar of garnish. I admit that we went a little crazy with the garnish; I personally filled 2 skewers with meats, veggies, cheese and olives. We also received the complimentary cinnamon roll, which was really darned good. We shared a pizza and an order of calamari and the whole table was stuffed! This is a no-brainer for a Sunday morning. If I lived in the area I might be there every day. Food was good, atmosphere was nice, and the bloody mary was just wonderful!

The food always tastes good, but is VERY salty! Like drink a gallon of water salty. Service is sub par. I've been there for dinner and lunch and I'm always looking for my waiter and asking for refills or to order. Additionally, it is very loud in the restaurant. So don't go there for a romantic, intimate dinner.

I went twice just to make sure the salad I had was the best salad I'd ever eaten. (I should point out that I don't live in Michigan, so going twice is kind of a bigger deal that if I lived full time near Muskegon.) The first time I went, I ordered the Sunday Chopped Salad and sneeringly questioned the inclusion of beans and pepperoncinis. Beans in a chopped salad? And pepperoncinis always seem like an after-thought tossed on the side of take-out Greek salads. But I ordered. And asked for their basil lemon dressing. The pepperoncini and beans were the highlight of the best salad I've ever eaten. Verdoni's, I'm sorry I doubted you. The dressing was amazing. Light and bright and not sweet (I dislike sweet dressings) ... so good I went home (Chicago) and made some myself. Went back again to order the exact same thing and nearly lunged at the server's neck when she said they didn't have the basil lemon dressing. "Why?" I wailed as I gnashed my teeth and pulled my hair. "OH! WHY???!!?" The server calmly informed me that they change their menu all the time. So I got off the floor, wiped the tears from my eyes, and ordered the cracked peppercorn dressing. Delish. "But this is a pizza place. Why are you telling us about salad?" you might be asking. Both times we came with kids who had pizza. I didn't try it the first time, but the kids assured me it was amazing. But, you know, what the hell do kids know? So I tasted it the second time, and it was a truly wonderful pizza ... with that authentic taste that only comes from one of those brick ovens. The kids also ordered ice cream. Which they said was the best ice cream they'd ever eaten. But, again, they're kids. So I confirmed by tasting their ice cream on visit #2, and it was fan-freaking-tastic. It's called Scratch, so we asked our server if that meant it was made there, to which she responded that all the ice cream was made there. By an actual human. Not a machine. Last, I wanted to comment on the great service. The second time we went, my younger son was whining that he was too hungry to wait for food, because ... you know ... he's 8 and really annoying. So I called the pizza order ahead. We literally walked in and were seated with the pizza. I think that's pretty good service. And my 8-year old became happy. Which makes him far less annoying than usual. And our server couldn't have been cuter or funnier. And she seemed to really believe in the place, which says a lot. I wish I could remember her name. Namaste, Muskegoners. You have a good place there. The prices are commensurate with the quality of the food (for those of you who think it's pricey).

I've had poor customer service a couple times (never saw our waiter/low staffed) but the pizza and appetizer of brussels sprouts are amazing!!

Excellent food! Their gluten free pizza is the best I've ever had (it is a difficult task to make gluten free pizza tasty). The kids get to "make your own" pizza.

First time at Verdoni's and it won't be my last. Awesome food and great drinks. Our bartender/waitress, Kara, made one of the best Bloody Mary's I have ever had. Thank you Kara!!!

Received a tip to try Verdonis and it was def worth it. The ambience is very cozy and a little fun, too. Yelp had an offer on pizza so we tried that. Very flavorful toppings on the skee-town pizza. We swapped bacon for carmelized onions, sausage was thinly sliced and not too strong, and the ham was rosemary ham. Crust was very good too. Sauce was kind of light so we asked for more but I think in hind sight that the pizza was fine without more sauce. Also had a side house salad which was very good and the focaccia bread was yummy. A very good experience and we will be back to try other menu items. Good flavor in your mouth when you leave! Upon 2nd visit I had the AYCE soup salad & bread! So superior to Olive Garden - I would recommend this lunch option with no reservation. On Sundays they offer a big cinnamon roll option which looked good but I stuck w the focaccia bread. My husband had the meatball hoagie and really enjoyed it. Wait staff is pleasant too!

The service here is great. Our waitress was on top of it all night long . They also have a great beer and alcohol menu. The raviolis we're good I just wish the portions were bigger. I would definitely go back if I was in town.

I'd like to give this 5 stars, but have only ate here once. I had the forest mushroom ravioli in vodka cream sauce. Very delightful. My date had chicken parmesan.. was quite jealous of her.. will have to have it next time I'm in. The menu is impressive, lots of options and most seem like they would be awesome. Service was top notch, not too many interruptions. Price was a bit much, but I find the flavors and quality of the meal to fit. However this is me being picky as I know the cost of pasta to be minimal. Overall will definitely go back, with everything being so good, I wish they offered family style dinners, enough to share with a small group tot try multiple things.

Let me start by saying I should have sent my mushroom ravioli back but I didn't. The pasta was not done and the dish was just not very tasty. It was my idea to go there with three others and I so wanted it to be a good experience. The waitress clearly wanted to be somewhere else, and I wished I was too! Probably won't return at least on a Sat. night!

good portions for price, pizza was very good and everything seemed to be very fresh, the staff was very friendly and prompt. we tried the fries and they were great, better then a lot of other places that have "cheese fries". the skee town pizza was good and fresh. my wife and i will be returning again.

Three of us chose to dine at the former Tony's (now Verdonis) based upon some positive Yelp reviews. Not a positive memorable experience. Noisy, poor seating arrangement of the table & chairs. I was repeatedly asked by the staff to pull forward & touch the table, so they could bring other chairs for other diners, food trays to other tables, etc. If the had initially moved our table back 4-5 feet, this would have provided better flow & room for everyone. Here's a thought - if the 20 somethings at the table behind me had been asked to sit @ their table instead of near it, the flow would have been better. Two of us had the pasta spaghetti with shrimp & mussels - that equates to 3 shrimp & 6 small mussels. The tomato sauce was thin & sparse, which produced very sticky pasta in a ballish lump. Dad ordered the ribeye medium rare, which was over-cooked & curled up like a cheap thin cut. Our waitress was nice, but stressed & over tabled. Most surrounding patrons ordered various pizzas, which may be what they're going after in the restaurant. Chef Boyardee could have provided better pasta & a lot cheaper than almost $70. I'll pass on a second visit.....

My mom and I went to Verdoni's for lunch and had a great meal. We shared the spinach and artichoke dip, it's served with warm soft pita bread and a nice crusty layer of melted cheese on top with fresh basil and tomatoes. I had the 12'' Bianca pizza (delicious) and mom had the fried cheese raviolis, again really tasty. The manager was visible and came to the table to talk with us. The server was friendly and did a great job. I would definitely recommend a visit for lunch or dinner. They also have a deli counter with fantastic looking food and lots of dessert type items. The wine list is really extensive but we were there for lunch but I'm sure it's a great selection. One more thing if you check in on Yelp you can get 50% off an appetizer.

  • Gary W.

Started off with the deep fried artichokes that came with a marinara and mustard sauce, excellent! Then we split the deep fried eggplant salad but that was too filling after the artichokes, but still quite tasty. I had the steak Sicilian and my wife had the chicken Milanese and hey we're both fantastic. The have an excellent wine selection and on the way out we bought some pastry in their storefront area. We will be back!

So not satisfied I went here a couple years back they were new in town the portions were small but the food was amazing just went back and was disappointed bad menu changed and food was nasty to say the least I ordered the wood fire chicken I expected a skinless boneless chicken breast with a savory sauce but got cheap bone chicken with skin talk about pointless to add sauce on top of chicken that has skin can you say nasty this place cut too many corners and has lost the edge they once had

Do not order the seafood pasta. Horrible seafood was over cooked and rubbery. Besides the fact it revisited me at 5 the next morning. Never going back. It's a shame as nice as the place is one would think the food would be better.

  • David B.

Asked for a good place to eat pizza, was directed to this place. The drive was longer than expected, but well worth it. The pizza was cooked in a wood fired oven. The pizza garlic bread were awesome, and the bread served with olive oil over parmesan cheese was better than I expected. The price was not as much as expected, so that was a plus. This place is worth the visit.

One of our absolute favorite places! Happy hour is always fantastic, wine by the carafe, the food is always terrific! They do so many deals through the week, and Bloody Mary bar on Sunday. You can't go wrong! So good!

Had a great time here meeting a friend of mine I haven't seen in ages who was in Muskegon for a work conference. Saw the place as I turned off the highway to pick him up and thought it looked nice! It seemed busy by the number of cars in the lot but when we got inside there was plenty of seats both indoors and on the patio. We sat on the patio. All the pizzas sounded amazing. The appetizers also had a lot of different options. We split the Italian sausage nachos which were great! You have to try them if you want something flavorful and with a satisfying crunch. We also split a buffalo chicken pizza which was insanely satisfying! Our waitress was Heidi and she was a real sweetheart!

Italian Cuisine

The immense popularity of Italian cuisine globally isn't unknown. You can find an Italian Pizzeria around every corner of almost every city in the United States. Not to forget that in every house, people enjoy mac and cheese as comfort food. But it would be wrong to believe that Italian food starts with pizza and ends with good pasta as this Mediterranean country has much more to offer other than these two dishes. In Italian Cuisine, there is a high use of fresh tomatoes, all kinds of herbs, great quality of cheese, all types of meat, seafood and fresh handmade pasta. Many find it hard to believe that Italians have been making noodles long back.

Italian and Greek cuisines are always mistaken to be same, but they are poles apart. The primary difference between the two cuisines is the use of cheese in most of the Italian dishes. Italians love to cultivate their own cheese and process them as per their food requirement. It is believed that some cheese is so expensive that cheese producers secure them in lockers.

If you are bored eating the same old pasta or pizza, you can try some of the authentic Italian dishes like Risotto, Polenta, Ribollita, Lasagna, Fiorentina Steak, Bottarga, Ossobuco, Carbonara, Focaccia, Arancini and Supplì. Another item which Italians love to relish every morning is a good cup of Italian Coffee. Once you taste a freshly brewed cup of Italian Coffee, you might not visit Starbucks ever again. Authentic Italian food is made with heart and soul, so go find a restaurant where you can relish Italian cuisine in your city.

Pizza

Pizza is a famous Italian dish savored around the world. The entire credit for the popularity of Pizza in the United States goes to the chain of pizzerias all over the country. While the base and the texture of Pizza remains same across the globe, it's the toppings that differs from country to country. In the United States, you will find the top pizzerias serving pizzas with the toppings of mainly beef, bacon, chicken, ham, and sausage for the non-vegetarians. Other than these famous meat options, Pizzas with veg toppings such as mushrooms, pepperonis, garlic, tomatoes, spinach, etc. are also famous in most restaurants in the United States.

Irrespective of your locality, you will find a variety of different restaurants in your cities offering pizzas of all different types. Pizza is hot favorite among people of all ages in the United States. A large size pizza is enough to feed a family of 3 or 4 at large. Pizza is also the most preferred food whenever a group of friends is hanging out together. Pizza gained popularity in the United States after the American soldiers stationed in Italy returned from World War II.

Over the years, different pizzerias in the United States have developed their own respective regional variations. Pizza gained popularity as the iconic dish in the United States in the second half of the 20th century. Whether you prefer thin or thick crust pizza, you can find a pizza of your preference at the best pizza restaurants in your city.
