I was in on a Saturday afternoon a few weeks ago and the service was AWFUL! The bartender was walking around behind the bar kind in a daze, busing the bar, washing glasses, etc, when there were customers with money out wishing to order a drink. After 20 minutes of being ignored/not being able to order a drink, we left. Granted, it was probably a bit busier than usual early on a Saturday afternoon, but he would have been able to get everyone drinks if he just focused on that, not cleaning glasses, etc.

The location is superb, the drink specials are very fairly priced and for a local hangout one can not ask for much more. As a non local, I had hoped to experience some level of treatment in line with what just about everyone else in the bar was experiencing. The first two times I was in Lakeshore, I was feeling like I was not welcome by the female bartender and that unfortunately echos my sentiment on the evening male bartenders demeanor toward me. This location could really use some new blood, as crotchety, weathered and irritated is no way to go through a bartending shift. Not to mention I was tipping Very well the entire time. ~Yes the Bloody's are spectacular.

The basics - Friendly service, good selection, and great prices. To me, the hallmark of a good bar is whether it is "comfortable." Lakeshore truly succeeds there. In addition, they have great prices and good staff. Perhaps most importantly, their "kickass bloody marys" are the best I have found in western Michigan.

I was pleased with the drinks, the prices and the atmosphere. The bartender, on the other hand, acted like he needed a new career choice! Maybe it was because it was close to last call when we arrived, and he was worn out from a busy Saturday evening. But either way, friendly service is very important to me and when I am paying and expected to leave a tip, the service better rock up til the end of the night! I will give them another chance, but if the experience isn't any better, my next review may not be as nice!

Good bar with good drinks. The bartender was personable and the bloody marys he made were tasty. It feels like a tavern should feel. Three beers on tap.

If you want to go to "the" townie bar near the lakeshore this is it. Cheap drinks, great social atmosphere a.k.a. Not a meat market. If there's a live band be prepared to listen only and not have a conversation as it gets quite loud. The patio addition was nice in the last year and makes it great for getting some air or cool off from the busy crowds. Overall it's still a staple for any Muskegonite!

Review of bar only: good Bloody Mary (per wife), small selection of draft beers, decent selection of bottles, including Bells Two Hearted Ale (yummy). Friendly staff! Nice little patio with view of marinas.
