It had been a few years since I'd been to Michigan Bar, and most of my memories of the food and service was average. Nothing all too memorable. Today's experience changed that. Atmosphere: Today I went around lunch for a nice family meal after returning home from school and immediately I notice that the restaurant is much darker than I remember, but the renovations are quite an upgrade. Service: Our waitress was wonderful; she was juggling a few tables but made us feel very important and she always had a warm smile that brightened our experience. The Food: For starters, I had a lobster bisque and some bread, and together they were one hell of a first course. For my entree I had the Chicken Marsala with angel hair pasta, which was delicious. Best I've ever had(and it warmed up well, too). The portion size was enormous and the mushrooms and sauce tasted fresh. The chicken was soft and moist--just as it should be. My little sister ordered the Cajun Alfredo with shrimp, and I was so surprised by how much flavor the dish had. One of the women we were with wasn't very happy with her dish but the staff was accommodating and brought her something else. Overall, I was very happy with my meal and I look forward to going back.

This is one place that seems to be a hit or miss for Yelp reviewers. My previous experience with this place was carry out, and this was my first time dining in. My husband and I came here for lunch while we were out running errands. The hostess was friendly and sat us in a booth. The lighting is very dim, and I love the interior design. One thing I do not love- every person who was dining there was over the age of 60. It may have been the time of day, maybe it was because of whatever was on special, but it is always a bit weird being the only young people in a restaurant full of older people. The food was tasty and we didn't have any issues with service. That may be different during the busy times/weekends.

Waitress was absolutely horrible, very unfriendly, charged for everything I asked for even something as simple as barbeque sauce. Lettuce must have been from the bottom of the container it was frozen. Very bad experience. I wont be going here again for a long time.

I had the steak salad and french onion soup and both were great. The food has improved since the last time i there and its newly remodeled which makes it look great. My only complaint is that its very loud in the dining room. The bar area was much more quiet.

Good food and good service! Went here with a big group for my grandpa's 91st and the waiter bought him a beer, very nice staff. A little loud in here for casual talking.

Usually good...but this time not so much. Food poisoning from the pasta, waitress overcharged our group, no senior discount, and huge added gratuity for 8 people. Very disappointed.

I gave it 4 stars because we really like this place. TODAY however was a totally different story. We arrived and were seated immediately way in the back area near the kitchen, next to a family of 5 who were loud, boisterous and who had no idea that when in a restaurant you should be courteous of others who are trying to enjoy a meal and conversation. It did not help that every waitress and person passing by would stop, have a conversation, laugh and jump up, bump our chairs, brush us in the back of the head and say oops!...Yeah no. We ordered Fajitas....my husband ordered the steak which was pretty delicious and I ordered the vegetarian fajitas. I got a sizzling plate with NO oil, sauce or any type of grease..it was like they slapped raw veggies on a sizzling hot fajita plate and brought it to me...I had to slather it with the salsa that came with it and some water to help stop the cooking..or should I say burning process!...in the end the whole plate was inedible...I did pick at it after the waitress asked me if I wanted a fresh plate (I didn't want to eat alone since my husbands was pretty good and he was already eating)...so I made a meal out of the lettuce, cheese and pico de gallo in the tortillas. Service was slower than usual but the waitress was amazingly kind...I think it was just busy. Usually they are spot on...I think they need to be careful who they hire as a chef in regards to making vegetarian dishes. We will be back but not right away...the noxious fumes from the severely burnt vegetables gave me a headache and I need to re-think it.

I ordered the asparagus soup, it was basically just a bowl if salt. My perch sandwich was dry and rubbery. My husband's Reuben was mediocre. Our waitress disappeared for long periods or time and the food took way too long. After all of that they charged me for my salt-bowl soup and I had to argue with the manager to have it taken off. They basically make the dining area poorly lit so it looks fancy and they can charge you more for bad food.

Enjoyed a fabulous steak here! The wine by the glass selection was not the best, but the service was very good!

Well, Monroe people seem to like this place, but it's really hit or miss mediocrity. The prime rib is seemingly a select grade (look that up if you're unclear what that means). The perch was tough. I was told by the waitress that it comes in frozen and pre-breaded. Meals take a long time to come out. Dining options in this town are very sparse, so I suppose people will settle for this.

This was my first visit to Michigan Bar & Grill and I was fairly satisfied. We had made reservations ahead of time for a Sunday night so we were seated quickly but had to wait about 30 mins before our waitress even took our drink orders! We had to flag someone down and ask them what was going on because every employee was completely ignoring our table, and then the woman who waited on our table acted annoyed and wasn't very friendly. Other than that, the food was good and I would probably go back. The lighting/ambiance is very nice. I got a half rack of ribs with their house salad and house balsamic vinegarette and a baked potato. I don't normally order ribs but I was being risky today and I really liked their rib sauce. The salad was delicious and crunchy and the baked potato was fresh and cooked perfectly. They also bring out a fresh loaf of house bread that is very very good. My brother got a steak, I think it may have been the prime rib. I tried a piece and it was delicious! I would go back again!!

Consistently busy, but staffed to handle it. It never feels rushed, even when there is a line waiting to be seated. Not cheap, but still a good value. Steaks are cooked properly, the dinner salad (and bread) are top notch. The lake perch, which can be ordered either deep fried or pan fried, is amazing. Specials every day.

Really busy hang-out! Lots of locals who don't dress up for a night on the town, so you can wear your comfiest sweats and Crocs! Lots of good choices, none are memorable, except for a Michigan chicken cherry salad which is tasty.

The ribs are great, steak gorganzola great, prime rib wonderful, and desserts great. I did not like their fish and many of their other dishes to me are not good at all. The servers are hit or miss. Some servers are great but, some are not.

We showed up at 10:30pm and did not feel rushed. Service was great. We ordered the French onion soup, it was good, needs a richer broth and more onions in my opinion. We shared the Steak and Gorgonzola salad, the steak came out perfect. I was very impressed with that given the kitchen was closing in 5 minutes. The server was very nice and attentive. I was brought the wrong wine, but I was ok with that. Their wine and beer list is not very good. If they just worked on the beer and wine list they would earn a 4 - 5 star. I recommend for a small town restaurant.

Had given this place 4 stars in the past, but now...Yikes. Went there to eat tonight, got drinks spilled on us and then waited there 25 min (until we left) to have no one come back to take our order. Don't think I'll ever be returning there. Horrible service.
