Why so expensive? Olive Garden is cheaper...and better....just 20 miles farther away!

I am NOT a sushi expert by any means however the sushi here in my opinion is pretty good this is an Italian restaurant with sushi bar I've had the sushi and I've had Italian food and I've been satisfied each time. Nice atmosphere decent service and fair prices

Charged my friends and my Credit Cards twice. "Computer Glitch". Just wondering how many people didn't catch it and won't get reimbursed. So if you have ate there in the last few weeks check your accounts.

By far the best Authentic Italian food in the area. Elegant atmosphere and great service. Must try the eggplant parm and the portobello ravioli! Never been disappointed in the years I've been eating there! Their Tiramisu is out of this world!!

I like Dolce Vita. In Monroe, there isn't much more to choose from when it comes to fine Italian dining. I've seen a few bad reviews, but don't really understand them. My food has always been good and the place is clean.

We used to go there quite frequently - at least once a month through the end of last year - and the (Italian) food was always great . I cannot speak about the Sushi because I don't like sushi, never tried it there, and always wondered why an Italian restaurant would even serve it, (Identity problem perhaps?) I would have in the past rated this place at least a high three or four rating. Then something happened, I do not know what. Never invested time in finding out and frankly could care less after our list visit. New owner or manager perhaps? The last time we were there in early April 2015, there was a new, greatly reduced Italian food (and quite cheap looking) menu. The prices were higher. The food was a step or two above horrible (and not even served hot). I assumed the wait staff was new since I never saw them there before and they all seemed disinterested and had a somewhat "it's a job" attitude. One of the people in our party ordered a steak and was invited to "upgrade" for $1.99 with something they called "Sizzle" - apparently a "special seasoning" which turned out tasting like a shake or two of something containing a lot of salt and pepper. REALLY? Two bucks for what tasted like a couple of shakes from a seasoning salt canister in the back room? That was just so caddy - nickel and diming patrons. And of course there were (first time we ever saw this), little flying critters on our table when we arrived (At least management did not charge the upgrade "sizzle" price for these.) No, these tiny flies were free - "all you can eat" or swat. I would have gladly paid a two-buck upcharge if it guaranteed water with ice and no flies in the water or around the table. Since one of the people in our party was an invited guest and I told her what a "great" Italian restaurant we were bringing her to (based on our many past experiences), I was more than SUPER embarrassed all during dinner and beyond. I suppose I missed the "sign" that we were only one party of about four that were there on a Friday night.. Now I know why!!! Absolutely a horrible experience. There isn't an incentive on earth that would incline me to return. Very sad indeed. What was once a very good restaurant is now sub standard.

My wife and I went to Dolce Vita last night... I had sushi and she had gnocchi. My sushi was very good and tasted fresh. Her pasta on the other hand was barely edible. Clearly frozen/packaged gnocchi that was dumped in boiling water, strained, splashed with sauce and served. We could have done that at home for a fraction of the cost. Never thought Id write a review for an Italian restaurant and praise their sushi but chirp their pasta? They need to figure it out! Monroe is not the best city for fine dining so its easy to understand how they get away with this type of thing.

We drove up from Toledo during the water ban because everything local to us was closed. We ended up waiting over an hour to eat pasta and chicken! No mention of anything from our server (who was also the bartender for some reason even thigh we were seated at a booth). No "sorry for your wait", no "the cook forgot to make your food", nothing. Not even extra bread during the thirty minutes after getting our salads. (Which were pretty basic. Nothing crazy) When we finally got our entrees they did taste good but not good enough to justify that kind of a wait. We ordered dessert to go because we did not have anymore time to sit and wait to eat them at the restaurant. When we tried the desserts they were really bland and just plain not worth the money. We will definitely not be returning.

I wish I could've given this place zero stars. I am new to this area so My girlfriend and I went in there after I was out playing ball. So I was still in my ball uniform. When we walked in there was a 10 minute wait which was fine. After waiting 15 to 20 minutes I heard the servers stating that they didn't want our table. After we finally sat down We were sitting around for about 10 to 15 more minutes with no interaction whatsoever. Another table came in and sat next to us and received attention within 2 to 3 minutes. That's when we decided to get up and leave. I highly doubt it but I hope management contact me about this. I have never been treated this way at any restaurant I've ever been to in my life. I would not recommend this place to anybody just judging by the service. I cannot comment on the food because I didn't eat any nor will I ever. I don't wish ill will on anyone but if this is the way they run their business I hope they're not here much longer!

If I could give 0 stars I would. First off, make up your mind between Italian and sushi. Unless you are doing some sort of innovative fusion, you just look confused. Tomato sauce is sugary sweet, basically ketchup. Terrible food. I also had the worst case of food poisoning of my life after eating here.

After the last experience of the restaurant (and sushi bar..... and pizza place.... and sports bar) not having horseradish in the wasabi (????) We decided to finally give them a second chance. BIG MISTAKE!!! Fruitflies - the size of a dime!!! The manager acknowledged they have had a problem for a few months. REALLY??? MONTHS?? YUCK. With all the identity problems... the fine dining experience has fallen by the wayside. IMO the flies originate from the sushi bar. If the fruit flies are swarming in the dining area... i can't imagine how it is behind the scenes. Another Monroe eatery off our list. How gross.

I had my daughters 13th birthday dinner there. She loved the sushi!!! her favorite dish!!! I had the Cajun Shrimp Alfredo..Delicious!! The garlic bread was wonderful and my son loved the patty melt. Everyone loved the food and the service was excellent! will definitely go there again!

The food is good. The calamari I ordered was a bit overcooked (go figure). Everything else was appetizing except the flies that wouldn't leave our table alone both times I have eaten here the last few months. Drinks are good. But they do take a long while to get made and brought to the table.

The restaurant is nice and the service was very very good. calamari app was a little chewy. Egg Plant parm was over breaded and over deep fried with way to much sauce on top. The Fettuccine Alfredo was out of this world yummy. The lasagna was overcooked the noodles were very soggy. Dessert Menu was fantastic along with an amazing drink menu. They also had sushi on the menu, didnt try it but looked yummy and fairly priced.

While it may seem fun to have both an Italian and a Japanese restaurant in the same space, with the ability to order from both, it doesn't really work out in practice. The Italian side of the operation is actually pretty good. They have an extensive wine list and the entrees are all huge and meaty and cheesy and doughy and if you like that thing and aren't going for subtlety, you'll like Dolce Vita. I'd give this part 4 stars. The Japanese side (Sushi Yono), on the other hand, was not good, which is especially unfortunate as this is one of the only (or THE only?) Japanese places in Monroe. The fish wasn't fresh, the rice lacked vinegar flavor and it just ended up dry. This part of the restaurant gets 2 stars. And when you average out 4 and 2, you get 3 stars.

This is not a place to eat even if the food is edible. We spent an evening there in the italian side private room and were eventually charged over $600 for the night. Mind you there were only a few of us and we were charged for things like a room charge and a $75 projector screen--both of which we were taxed which I don't believe is legal. All of this happened despite our prior agreement wth the general manager. My takeaway is if we are being treated this way in the front of the restaurant what could be going on with the food being prepared in the back of the restaurant.

Wanted a nice dinner without the kids..what we got was a table full of fruit flies. Couldn`t even make it through 2 bites of food because they were swarming around the table. The manager took care of our drinks but we wouldn`t let them remake our food because if the fruit flies ars that bad in the dining room imagine what its like in the kitchen. This place is off the list of places to eat at. The manager said its been a problem for a couple of months .... seriously bomb your restaurant.

Let me start by saying it was not horrible. The atmosphere makes the restaurant look a lot like fine dining, but it is more like Applebees Italian style. The bread for the bruschetta was from the pizza place next door and tasted more like pizza anyways. The ceaser salad was oily and way to much dressing. My wife's food was very greasy because the cheese was a cheap style cheese and my food had ok flavor. The food was not horrible but will we return no. If they use more fresh ingredients and the chief took more pride in his presentation and taste this place could have great potential! Maybe have less options and focus more on one style of food instead of three or four.

Food is ok, with portions large enough for lunch the next day. Our waitress was very helpful, and friendly, even bringing extra plates for a birthday cake we brought in with us (we had a group of 15) Prices seemed high for the meals, unless u get the specials. Atmosphere was nice. I had the cajun chicken fetticunni, which was very good, but others mentioned bland sauces... including the bread service. Everyone in our party had Italian - I will try the sushi next time - it looked good.

Fantastic sushi. It takes a while to get it because they make everything right then but, hands down it's the best. The Italian can be pricey and it isn't always the best ever had but, it is also good. Their house dressing is good, tiramasu good, they used to have prime rib that was great, salmon salad good, manicotti... very good. The service can be great and bad depending on the person. I did not like the sushi as much when I went on Mondays when they have it half off the price but, Sundays are the best sushi days ever. This may be due to the chef.

It is difficult to find a sushi restaurant in these parts and I was pleasantly surprised with Dolce Vita and their selection. The food was well prepared and even though I'm sure it wasn't all fresh it didn't seem processed or rubbery like I sometimes find sushi to be when I'm not on either coast. Their signature rolls were all pretty good expect for the spicy roll. They could have spared a few jalapenos unless they wanted to change the name to the jalapeno insanity roll. For something that hot next time I'll go to the wings place next door that did look tempting. However, I was quite satisfied with my meal at Dolce Vita and the service as well.

I love Dolce. Even moreso after the addition of the sushi bar, and then Nick and Nino's next door. One would think that an Italian restaurant might not be able to do sushi right, but Dolce totally does. I especially love the Sammy Davis Drops (a specialty roll). The Italian food is fabulous and authentic as well. I just ate at the pizza place sports bar next door for the first time this weekend and the food there was amazing as well. Service was also incredible over there, better than on the Dolce side! The fish tacos were incredible. Highly recommend Dolce.

Food is okay. Sushi is a little better than average. That's normally what ill order when I go. But the sushi is pretty pricey for what they offer.

Italian Cuisine

The immense popularity of Italian cuisine globally isn't unknown. You can find an Italian Pizzeria around every corner of almost every city in the United States. Not to forget that in every house, people enjoy mac and cheese as comfort food. But it would be wrong to believe that Italian food starts with pizza and ends with good pasta as this Mediterranean country has much more to offer other than these two dishes. In Italian Cuisine, there is a high use of fresh tomatoes, all kinds of herbs, great quality of cheese, all types of meat, seafood and fresh handmade pasta. Many find it hard to believe that Italians have been making noodles long back.

Italian and Greek cuisines are always mistaken to be same, but they are poles apart. The primary difference between the two cuisines is the use of cheese in most of the Italian dishes. Italians love to cultivate their own cheese and process them as per their food requirement. It is believed that some cheese is so expensive that cheese producers secure them in lockers.

If you are bored eating the same old pasta or pizza, you can try some of the authentic Italian dishes like Risotto, Polenta, Ribollita, Lasagna, Fiorentina Steak, Bottarga, Ossobuco, Carbonara, Focaccia, Arancini and Supplì. Another item which Italians love to relish every morning is a good cup of Italian Coffee. Once you taste a freshly brewed cup of Italian Coffee, you might not visit Starbucks ever again. Authentic Italian food is made with heart and soul, so go find a restaurant where you can relish Italian cuisine in your city.
