Amazing food!! 100% authentic polish! If it's your first time, get the combination plate. If you're polish, you'll most likely love it!! Customer service, not the best but I guess it depends who were talking about.. When I was there, our waitress was great but there were two other waitresses bickering about whether or not a table was cleaned good. One said "I don't know! IS IT?!", sarcastically and quite rudely while she was frantically moving all the silver wear and place matts into a pile and telling the other woman to clean it herself.. The placemats were then left in the corner in a pile and the table was never cleaned by either of them. When some customers came in to sit there, a different waitress came and fixed there placemats and silver ware.. I was a little taken back by this kind of behavior from the two girls.. They were obviously both aggravated for one reason or another but this is no way to act at work in front of customers! Seating arrangement was pretty screwy with no room to move your chair out and barely room to walk past tables. I was uncomfortable the whole time eating because I was right up against the table while my chair was touching the person's behind mine (We were both of average size). Food gets 5 stars!! Everything else, makes this business fall to 3 stars, unfortunately.

What an adorable place. I stumbled on the reviews while looking for a place to grab lunch while I was in Allen Park for work. My food was good, hot, and served with a smile. I may even come back here, and it's an hour from my place. Give it a try!

It is difficult to find good Polish food in this area. I frequent Sabina's when I want a nice home cooked meal, or am craving pierogi's. Their stuffed cabbage, meatballs, and pierogi are my favorite, and prices are reasonable for sure. I have never been there for breakfast but heard that is great, too.

This restaurant was a compromise for me. Ron C. had recommended Polonia in Hamtramck as a great place to try Polish food. Only problem was, I drove there on Monday....they are closed on Mondays. So on to Plan B. Sabina's was only a mile or so from my hotel so I figured I'd check it out. Service was fine - once they finally acknowledged me. I sat there and made eye contact with three different employees before someone took pity on me and brought me a menu and let me know someone would be over. Sorry to interrupt your silverware rolling folks! I'll make it brief. I got the combo platter which was OK. Polish food is the cuisine that makes Irish food seem like a walk on the wild side. It's filling and well, it's filling. Lot's of seniors come here so it's pretty quiet. Decor is pretty sparse with some Polish stuff scattered around the white walls. Nothing here says come back....

Absolutely fabulous as always! I've been here half-dozen times or so. I always get the Polish combo #1 and substitute farmer's cheese pierogi. So so so good! And hot! And friendly, quick service! Dessert for $0.75.... come on!!!!

Great Authentic Polish food, great service, great prices! Need I say more? Fab pierogi and platke! And the sour cream cucumbers? Don't miss them! I ordered the cheese and potato pierogi and they were wonderful; my friend said the sweet cheese were great. I am a veggie, so I don't order the meat, but my hubbie always liked the pork chops here. You get large portions so order accordingly...take some home so you have room for dessert! They were really busy when I left at 7:00pm on a Thursday, and I hope they are in business for a good many years to come!

Solid food (but then again I only had breakfast), good service, great prices.

Prices - Excellent Service - Great Food - Good Missing - Ambiance. This place was really packed for a Wednesday at lunch. I tried the potato pancakes, cucumber salad, and dill pickle soup. They were all tasty...my potato pancakes were really crunchy and flavorful...so were my other items. My two coworkers, who had never tried Polish Food, seemed to like their combination lunches....I'll confirm after their naps ;-) With that being said, I just think there is just no beating one of the many places in Hamtramck. Maybe it's just me, and my families history with that town, but I just find it more authentic there. By all means, stop in...I just don't come to these parts very...well ever...and I know I wouldn't drive here for Polish food, before heading to Hamtramck first...always! Burp!

Not a huge fan of polish food, but hubby loves it so we go. Their dill pickle soup is great. I like mine dillier but it's still really good. The Maurice salads are very good if your not into polish food. By husband loves their piergoies and son likes their potato pancakes.reataura t is very small.

Great Food, Strange Employees!!! Their food is really good but it's hard to stomach the strange way they treat you. The employees all stand at the counter and Stare at everyone very strangely. I haven't been there in a while so I decided to go again yesterday for some carry out. They Actually asked me if I want to leave a tip!!! For carry out??? I decided to get carry out again from there today and a different employee asked me if I wanted to leave a tip!!! HOW RUDE!!! Asking for a tip!??? Unbelievable!!!!! This is turning into a very low class place!!

This a very good, working stiff restaurant. They have good food and service and the prices are reasonable. Try the combination plate. Very good deserts also. If you are looking for good polish food at a reasonable price, this is it.

Excellent Polish food. Authentic, traditional. You can even get Czarnina & flaczki here. Family owned, wonderful service. They know us by name. If you're on this side of town and want Polish food, this is the place to go. No more traveling down to Ham-town.

Excellent food at excellent prices. The kitchen is lightening fast and the meals are hearty. The glombki's are my favorite I think, but I also like the meatballs, kielbasa, city chicken and fish are all good. I like just about everything on the menu, which is not a statement I can make of many places.

Great Polish food. I've been here so many times the owners know who I am so it's nice to know when I walk in to get a friendly smile and a hello and receive good service.

I stopped there for take out combo plate and dill soup. I must say it was very good. I will be back to try other things there.

Pretty happy with my first trip here. Polonias in Hamtramck still ranks #1 in Polish food. Had the cabbage soup and was pretty standard. Went with the combo meal with the fresh kielbasa.

This is a great place to eat. The food is awesome. There are a lot of options that you don't find other places downriver. The staff is always very friendly. I love their potato pierogis with onion. The crepes are delicious, also. You get a lot of great food for a good price. I've had a few different desserts here and they are always awesome! Everything has a good homemade taste. They have a good breakfast. I especially love their fruit bowl. I love fruit and am often disappointed at restaurants when you order a fruit bowl and receive a few little melons and grapes. Sabina's fruit bowl has a variety of delicious fresh fruit and it's very filling! It can get pretty crowded so the parking can sometimes be a pain but it's worth it.

Best Polish place outside of Hamtramack! The prices are amazing and the food is even better. It's family owned and by family owned I mean...the wife is cooking and the husband is working the register. I've never had a bad meal here. Typically I go with the Polish Platter. Great selection of choices all over the menu. The cucumbers in sour cream----I could eat a pint of this. So good! Only complaint is the size. They've grown so big they need a bigger place. But that's to be expected when you're the best around. You won't be disappointed here!

A co worker and I are in Dearborn for a seminar and ate here for dinner. It was amazing! The sampler platter was delicious. I wished I lived locally to be able to eat here more often.

  • Jimmy C.

Been a year since I've been here and it's just as good as the first time I came! The fresh kielbasa is to die for and the pierogi...awesome with onions and bacon! I think I just might have dinner here for the rest of the week before I go back home to Alabama. The service here is top notch and you couldn't ask for a better atmosphere, thanks for a great dinner!

Tried Sabina's for the first time with another couple. While service was great, the food did not scream out ethnic Polish. Yes, it was good comfort food but I would opt for Hamtramck if I was looking to get Polish food. I selected the goulash which could've been a little hotter. Nothing special. My wife tried city chicken and golembek with pierogi. Adequate but again nothing special. Would not recommend going out of your way for Polish food but okay for a little comfort food.

  • Paul S.

Great little polish diner! Everyone raves about Hamtramck (and rightfully so) but the food here is equally good (in everyway) and is cheaper. If you are downriver don't bother with the drive for polish food just go here. Amazing golabki, great peirogi, and their farmers cheese crepes are a personal fav of mine. I have never had a bad meal. First timers should get the combo plate (pierogi, golabki, kielbasa, mashed pot, kapusta, ... YUM!) or city cabbage ... also save room for the crumb cake ... a hearty peice for only 50 cents. Great price, great service, great food a definite recommendation for anyone in the area.

  • Hymae W.

Went here and got the polish lunch and am stuffed. I couldn't even finish it all. Staff was friendly and quick. To my surprise they take credit card here and don't pull any of that $10 min crap. Food was good, nothing amazing but damn good.

  • Sarah S.

Good old fashion polish food.. amazing dill soup!!! Their traditional fried foods like pierogi and potatoe pancakes tend to be a little greasy but once in a while it can't be that bad! And they taste so good! Good kraut as well! Tends to be packed all the time.. esp during lent...

We went to Sabina's for lunch based on Yelp reviews. When in the Dearborn again we'll stop back. Definitely a favorite with the locals, busy place. Great specials. We went for the kielbasa and pirogies and we're not disappointed. Service was quick and attentive.

Sunday late afternoon had the 4 of us wondering where to go for dinner. Three meat eaters and one vegan. Oh no! So we opted on Sabina's as we didn't feel like driving very far. Convenient to I-94 and Southfield Road - it's in a great location. Sabine's doesn't go for the fancy interior to make it good. The food does that. It's booths around the outside, tables in the middle, and at 4.30 on a Sunday - very busy. I had the pierogi dinner - 3 potato, 3 farmers cheese - they were a little greasy, but oh, so tasty, along with potato pancakes. I might just get these next time - they were wonderful! My husband loves city chicken and he thought it was one of the best he has ever tasted. My friend Bob opted for the combo plate and except for the bland meatballs (just needed some spice) - he said everything was great. Now the vegan. She opted for the cucumber salad (sadly, it was in cream, not pickled as she thought), beets (I think she licked the bowl clean), ate my husband's sauerkraut with gusto, and the mushroom soup (also not vegan, but it was vegetarian and she said it was excellent). She enjoyed her psuedo vegan dinner, opted for a taste of the potato pancake and potato pierogi. Our waitress was prompt, polite, checked back appropriately and did a really good job with our order (without writing it down). She laughed at me when she caught me trying sauerkraut (not my fav, but I said that I should try it again. Still not my fav, but it was okay) It was a very nice dinner - we will be back.

Best polish food in the region. Great service and prices. You will never get a bad meal!

  • Mav-One S.

I can't say it's bad. Far from but it's not the most amazing either. But I do enjoy it. Very good price. Small and personal so that's why I go and support. I love potatoes so it's amazing all the polish food that has potatoes. Kielbasa on point. I would say don't get it to go though. The atmosphere there is awesome. All old people who love to talk. I think the pickle soup is gross cuz I hate pickles but a lot of people love it. I think you should try it. I did lol Good people and good average place.

They were rated among the Top 10 Polish restaurants in Metro Detroit so I had to check them out. We've bought their pierogi to take home but never dined in. Went on a Friday night with my family - total of six in our party. The dining room is tiny but we were seated right away, although one side of our table backed up to the counter stools. Waitress was friendly and right on top of things. I had the fish and macaroni and cheese (I know, but I saw it on another table and it looked so good!) and it was really good. My daughter loved her pierogi and my mom enjoyed the City Chicken. My Uncle really liked the Dill Pickle soup. The crepes for dessert were a big hit. If only they had a bar! But we'll still be back.

Sabina's is one of those places you have to be LOOKING for. Otherwise, there's nothing about the place that will grab your attention. But, since you're reading this, YOU know to look for it. The inside is essentially a big white box with sparse Polish decorations. The average customer is somewhere in the vicinity of 65-70 years old. But the food is fantastic, the service lightning fast, and the prices are good. Hubby always gets the same thing - city chicken with a fried pork chop on the side. As for me, it varies. Sometimes I do the combo platter, with kielbasa, meatballs, cabbage rolls, sauerkraut, mashed potatoes and veggies. Sometimes it's a big plate of pierogi, smothered in fried onions and bacon. (Just add the obligatory sour cream, and it's a food coma on a plate.) Sometimes it's the daily special. But no matter what I order, I always start with the dill pickle soup. The service is friendly and fast. On one occasion, hubby and I left the restaurant exactly 22 minutes after we entered it. At a lot of restaurants, you're lucky if you've received your beverage and placed your order at that point.

It kills me to give this place 3 stars. Sabina's is a part of my regular rotation and I genuinely enjoy the food and atmosphere. The reason I'm giving it 3 stars is because I'm probably extremely biased -- I'm half Polish so the food reminds me of Mom and Grandma and it feels like I'm back in a basement at a family get-together while I'm there. If you have Polish ties, I guarantee you'll really love this place. It's always filled with Polish folks old and young who will remind you of family members you haven't seen in years. You'll order food that will "hit the spot" like only kielbasa, pierogi, golambki, and dill pickle soup can. On the other hand, if you don't have Polish ties -- you might be disappointed (hence, my honest 3 star rating). // It's a small, family restaurant, which means it closes at 8pm, they won't take your carryout order after 7:30pm, and they may just randomly be closed for a week or so at at time. // The food is good, but may not be great if you're not used to it. (Plus, I've had under-cooked sausage several times and the veggies are nothing more than bland.) // Service is basically what you would expect from a Coney Island restaurant. // The desserts are a huge letdown for Sabina herself being a "pastry chef". (Actually, the $0.75 apple crumb cake is hit-or-miss and can be quite good.) What to order? Start with Dill Pickle Soup, try it all with the Polish Combination Dinner, and finish with the Apple Crumb Cake (ask them to warm it up).

Sabina's is very inexpensive and has great Polish comfort food. My husband got Hungarian pancakes and was very happy with the dish. I got the Z sandwich and it was delicious. Fast service, squeaky clean dining area and easy access off the freeway ensure we'll come back often.

The food here is delicious and the carrot cake is very, very yummy. It's a little crammed when the tiny eatery is full of people. But the waitresses are usually patient and kind. Always am happy and full by the time I leave! :D

Very good food for decent prices. I've only been to one Polish restaurant so I am no expert, but it was all good. I had the combination plate with smoked sausage. My favorite was the pierogi and the sausage. The stuffed cabbage was really good too, I am just used to my moms which is the best!

My Husband and I were given a gift card( which they no longer sell) for dinner at Sabina's two years ago..we were not familiar with the place..and hung on to that card, until one day, HUNGRY..I suggested we check it out. Well! There is no hope for us now, We are hooked. Being Baby Boomers born in Detroit, raised in the suburbs...we are very familiar with Polish food., GOOD Polish food !! We so surprised how many people can be in this small diner, it IS like being in someone's basement for Polish get-together. I have had the combo dish..the stuffed cabbage dinner..sides of perogis. sides of .potato pancakes. You will not leave this place hungry! Next visit, I am trying the crepes..also would like to try a dessert..but I am always too full!

The place was packed at 1:30pm on a weekday, so that tells you something. I ordered the City Chicken dinner, which came with potato and vegetable for $6.95! I opted out of the vegetable (nobody likes green beans) so they gave me an extra pile of mashed potato. I added a cup of dill pickle soup, which was hearty, but light on flavor. In fact, everything needed salt. Service was prompt and attentive. I would definitely call again.

Love them hole in the wall joints. Came here with my (former) co-worked one of my first weeks at work. AMBIANCE- As he (Nigerian) and I (Filipino) walked in, you could almost here the record player screech to a halt. Didn't matter, the people working there were extremely friendly and had us take a seat. The place is not huge by any means, and doesn't have too many tables, but we still got right in. Not too much on the decoration, but that's not what's important to me anyways. SERVICE- our server was very nice, and could tell neither one of us were really that well versed on Polish food. She took time to explain what everything was, and gave us a few recommendations. MENU- since I haven't been to too many polish joints, I can't say how their menu stacks up. I saw Pierogis, sausages, and figured that covers everything I know. They also do breakfast, which we got there for just a hair too late. Oh well. I tried their super sampler, and my friend did a sandwich (he was not feeling quite as adventurous). FOOD- my friend's sandwich was just ok, and I felt similarly about the food that I had. It was good, of course I was comparing to the other Polish food I've had, which was home cooked by my friend's grandma. I will say they did load it up, so I certainly appreciated that. OVERALL- probably wouldn't go out of my way to go this place again, of course, it is just down the block, so I'm sure I'll be back at some point. CELEBRITY RATING- some Red Wings player, whose name escapes me at this moment.

Overall, this place isn't a bad deal. The service was great: food was out in no time and the server was super friendly. I got the city chicken which was great It came with boiled potatoes and green beans. Just because I wanted to try one, I also added a perogi to the dish. The green beans came from a can, but I didn't expect otherwise so it didn't bother me. The entire meal was barely seasoned. I don't eat Polish food often so is this typical? Dunno. But I like more flavor. My husband got the potato pancakes which I thought had more flavor than my dish - probably from the added onion. Nothing was bad, but I didn't say to myself, "wow, I can't wait to have that again." You can't beat the price though.

I read the reviews and drove half way across town to eat here. Unfortunately I was extremely disappointed. Ordered chicken and dumpling soup no chicken just clear broth with dumplings.. The breading on the City chicken was soggy and it tasted like reheated left overs. The only thing that was good but not great was the perogies.

  • Cheryl K.

Oh the stuffed cabbage! The city chicken! The dill pickle soup! My husband is half-Polish and used to old school Polish food. He loves the food here. His grandmother would even approve...and she was from Warsaw. (I don't know...maybe they found her exact recipes....did anyone see a little old lady in a babushka, clutching a fistful of recipes, all written in her mother tongue? I know that she would share them!)

I had to bring my dad here. He is a huge fan of Polish food and it had been awhile since we had been on a father/daughter only adventure aka a *privacy lunch*. I seem to go out solo more with my mom these days while my dad hangs out with my husband but sometimes you just need to reconnect to your dear old dad. We started off with soup. I went for the excellent rendition of dill pickle, my father stuck with chicken noodle and was happy. I thought he was a bit lame but I am a dill pickle fanatic. We both got combination plates. We both switched our potato pierogi to farmer's cheese (of course) and switched out the meatballs for kielbasa (he opted for fresh and I went with smoked). The pierogi, crunchy kapusta, and tasty golembek were absolutely amazing. The mashed potatoes were pretty darn good too. I think his fresh kielbasa was a bit better than my smoked maybe but I was still very happy indeed with my pick, neither kielbasa blew us away but they were both very nice. We were totally stuffed and happy when we left. I need to make sure I take the old man out with me more often, we had a great time as always. I am now caught up on all things sports and I found forty extra bucks in my purse he must have stuffed in there when I was in the bathroom. Yep he will always think I am a poor college kid. You have to love a dad who still worries about you when you are nearly forty.

Just a followup to my original review..... OMG. You need to try the Polish Sandwich. This is a large sandwich roll covered with sauteed ham, Polish kielbasa, cheese, and mushrooms. This is hearty and this is heaven. As an appetizer, I ordered the dill pickle soup. I've heard about this, but never tried it before. This is a beautiful, creamy soup this is not overwhelmed by the dill pickles that it is made from. Although you may think it's a bit strange, this soup is definitely a hit.

Read some reviews and decided to give it a try...HOOKED! A foodie friend and I went to get some carryout and it was DELISH! Glombki and potato pancakes for me the combo for her...wow very filing and tasty---great value! Would be excellent for families. The inside reminds me of a diner back home in Chicago kinda cheesy but clean and the restrooms were clean also! Parking can be a bit difficult not much of it on a Saturday afternoon. Try the dill pickle soup you will be amazed at how unique and tasty it is!

Closest thing to home made Polish food I have found. Excellent service, very clean and the food was excellent. Dill pickle soup was incredible. City chicken was fall of the stick tender. Large portions for not much $$$$$$.

Somewhere along the past decade I lost my Polishness. It took me a good while to realize golambek is the singular of golambki -- derrrr. For a language that I used to converse in as a child, I'm a disgrace that I can't make it past dzien dobry. My shame for failing at my cultural roots aside, I still identify with the food. I still make pierogi, paczki and golambki. And I still know that kapusta, kielbasa, and kluski all make me very happy. Despite Hamtramck and it's residual Polish population is in my back yard, I find it depressing and irritating to try to find parking to go to one of the restaurants that runs more like a Greektown factory. You're in, things get microwaved, and you're out. Nothing tastes like it has any bit of the secret ingredient in it -- babushka sweat (true fact). Sabina's is different. It's still really Polish. They actually make their own pierogi in house (and not importing from a pierogi factory). They refer to cheese as "farmer's cheese" and I bet you they make THAT in house too! They even make their own KAPUSTA in house. Seriously! That's unheard of. They are basically a self supplying true to its roots down home real Polish food. As if your babcia was in back making it for you. What is TRULY unique about this place is they make their own desserts. And I mean, authentic, desserts. Nothing with artificial preservative enhanced super unnaturally colored desserts. No, I mean real desserts you'll find at Easter dinner. And in true European style, they aren't sickeningly sweet either. But more focus on the richness than sweetness. Ex: marbled cream cake, poppyseed something delicious (we Poles LOVE poppyseed as a dessert item), farmer's cheese cheesecake, etc etc. They have different desserts every day. In summary: 1. Golambki are really great, just as good, or maybe even better than I make them. 2. Kielbasa isn't their own recipe as far as I can tell, but still satisfying. 3. The kapusta is fresh -- so it's actually more crunchy and less sour than you will find elsewhere. I'm used to the already made saurkraut, so I didn't really enjoy their kapusta pierogi as much as I could have. 4. They use farmer's cheese and actually make the sweetened farmer's cheese pierogi! 5. A super warm friendly polka-music playing kind of atmosphere. 6. Really homemade food, made to order. 7. You can actually request for BOILED pierogi instead of fried! I sometimes just really like 'em boiled over frying them. 8. It's got this awesome American-diner feel to it. You immediately feel welcomed. It's not dark and depressing like the other "traditional" Polish restaurants. 9. Really interesting and unique Polish desserts. 10. They use a pile of corn as a side dish -- this is so American-Polish I can't even begin to explain it. I've had a pile of corn on my plate for every single family gathering. It really made me smile to see it on the combo platter. I just don't love their pierogi. They only have 3 kinds: potato-cheddar, farmer's cheese, and kapusta. I would love if they had a meat pierogi or a potato-farmer's cheese version. But the 3 kinds they have are pretty meh. Overall, a real gem to find so close to my work! Hurray!

A good Polish restaurant in Melvindale? You gotta be kidding me. But every time I drove by this places, the parking lot was full. Must be a reason, so I decided to check it out and today was no exception. The place was full, but we were lucky a table opened up as soon as we walked in. Now, I'm a Scotsman by heritage and the only native foods I'll claim are Shortbread and Scotch Whiskey. My wife and her entire family is 100% Polish. Over the years of family dinners I've enjoyed some great Polish food. I've learned to love some things that I can't pronounce phonically... like Golambki. So this trip I had Golambki (Stuffed Cabbage), City Chicken (Veal & Pork), Kapusta (kraut) and Potatoes for $6.50. I added a Pierogi for $1.25. The Golambki was delicious. I've been around the family long enough to recognize hand made Pierogis and these are definitely hand made. Farmer's Cheese was very good. They have a very family oriented atmosphere. Decor is functional, not fancy. The place is very clean and bright. The service is prompt and friendly. Overall a great value from a nice, family owned business. Then there was this plate of Nalesniki that passed me on it's way to another table... If I wasn't already stuffed... Next time...

Great spot for polish food! fast, newly consistent, and tasty. I've been frequenting this place for the last year and a half. The food at first was great. Then there were a few occasions when the food was not as flavorful, bland if you will. However I returned hoping it was an off day and it was. As of recently the food has been great.Tthe wait staff is great. It is clean and well maintained.

We frequent this restaurant every now and then it's a great place down river to have good Polish food. They've always been very accommodating the waitresses are far better than average we've tried quite a few different things on the menu breaded pork chops very good city chicken is great stuffed cabbage is above average the cucumber salad is excellent the chicken dumpling soup is far better than most the tomato noodle soup is outstanding I miss the fried chicken she had the best downriver as far as I'm concerned we were there recently and they added breaded chicken to the menu which is chicken breast sliced thinly breaded like the deep fried was as expected for chicken breast it was a little dry we needed a little barbecue sauce which helped immensely . The wait staff seems to be changing a little bit which is disappointing and there was some type of disruption between the cook ( who we believed to be Sabina) and the waitresses that was brought out behind the counter in plain view the customers which was disturbing and kind of ruined the atmosphere and dinner if employees are going to be talked to it should be in private rather than in the dining room in front of the world. Ahhhh. for those that just can't get enough ethnic food at home, try here. I had the combo plate - 2 pierogi, kapusta, golambek, mashed taters and meatballs for $7.50....actually $8.00, they charged .50 to change my pierogi to sauerkraut..hmmmm whats up with that??? but they were good! I'm not a big fan of stuffed cabbage generally, but theirs was worthy of inclusion....yummy! The meatballs were good too as was the gravy.....I was too stuffed to think of desert...but I did notice they actually give NORMAL slices of desert....hahaha, not the itty bitty slivers most restaurants give and charge you an arm and leg for..... I saw a plate go by with potato pancakes....wow these looked awesome, they're huge, and real shredded potatoes....(guess we know what I'm trying next visit!!). All in all thumbs up....parking is a little bit dicey....we went at noon during the workday, and it was packed.....but our server was perky and happy, and our food came fairly fast and hot....so no complaints!!

Another Great Polish Meal! Love Sabina's and we go there anytime we are within half an hour away. (About 3 times a year). This time I had the breaded pork chops with kapusta and boiled potatoes and of course a large bowl of dill pickle soup with plenty of rye bread. About $7 - And desert for only 75c - Amazing deal. They are really busy and I had to park down the street as the lot was full. Don't worry - they are fast and efficient.

I'm not Polish. I do know a good pierogi though and I wasn't impressed with my plate of potato-cheddar pierogis yesterday. I ordered them fried with sauteed onion. $6.50 for the pierogis and an extra 50 cents for the onions. Tons of sauteed onion on the plate, but for the most part, flavorless. Pierogi/onion combo just tasted like grease and pepper. I think Jim's Place in Dearborn has better pierogis as does my Polish co-worker. I also had a bowl of chicken noodle soup. Very little chicken, but definitely homemade. Good chunks of carrots/celery. Lots of good thin noodles. $1.95 for a big bowl since I ordered an entree (pierogis). This place is usually pretty busy. Based on the other reviews, maybe the other Polish food is better. Or it could just be that there aren't many other sit-down restaurants in the neighborhood.

Don't let the full parking lot discourage you, they have plenty more tables than parking spots. The food is awesome, the prices are reasonable and the staff is very friendly. Try the carrot cake it is the BEST I have ever had!

Thanks to fellow yelpers for leading me to this place. Decided to try the combo plate on the first visit, despite seeing interesting offerings on th whiteboard such as fish pierogi. I liked the kapusta and pierogi the most, obviously home-made, the pierogi skin has a nice chew but not too doughy. The Golambki are really great,, too, not sure if the smoked Kielbasa is bought or home-made. For dessert (farmer's cheese cheesecake), they gave you an amazingly large piece for the price they charge. Very friendly service.

OK, I am only shooting 3 stars on this review, but I will have a follow up. It was early morning and I just finished up some shopping, and this place was on the way home. I figured I would earn some boyfriend points by stopping in and getting some crepe's for my still sleeping girlfriend. It was around 11:00 on a sunday, and it wasn't too packed yet, but as I was leaving there were 2 car loads of people pulling in. I only got carry out so I cannot vouche for the service. I was attended to quickly and with a big smile though. This was my first crepe so I really don't know if they were suppose to be this way, but the dough was a bit... weird. It was soft, but it was a little on the chewy side. The fillings on both (apple and cheese) were delightful, the apple was not fresh, but it was warm and sweet and good. I prefered the cheese more than the apple just because I am not huge on sweets. The cheese was perfect, slightly warm, soft and a bit crumbly, with a subtle sweetness to it. I can't wait to get back hear to try the dinner menu as it seems based on all the reviews that this is were this establishment really shines. I am also curious about there snitzel. I have been to germany and many good ones, and I would like to see how the downriver snitzel is done :)

Had my first experience at Sabina's for lunch the other day. I work near the area so as far as I'm aware, this is probably one of the closest Polish restaurants. Food was okay -- I ordered the City Cabbage which came with the chicken on a stick, stuffed cabbage, mashed potatoes, greens, and also an order of 2 potato pierogis. I know a few people who absolutely love the chicken, but it didn't really do it for me. The stuffed cabbage was good, but I've had better. Pierogis were a little disappointing for me. I was hoping they would have some meat pierogis. Overall, an okay spot to come to for lunch. But I don't see myself having cravings for Sabina's anytime soon. That's okay though -- judging from the lines of customers during lunch time, I'm sure my business will not be missed much. For me, I'll satisfy my Polish cravings by heading to Hamtramck.

Excellent and handmade Polish food like you remember your grandmother making, and it doesn't take a trip to "Hamtown" (Hamtramck, for you non-locals) to get a satisfying pierogi dinner. It's also open for standard fare like generous breakfasts and lunches. It is not open for dinner, closing most nights by 8pm. If you have room, excellent crepes with fruit filling are a nice way to go. This place is family-owned and the staff is always friendly with advice on the specials. It can get a bit crowded as the place has only about 15 or so tables and some booths along the walls. As said before, the main reason to go there is for the excellent Polish food. The pierogies are not your usual frozen machine-made pucks, but made at the restaurant in several varieties (potato, cheese and sauerkraut, I wish they would make meat-filled ones). There are several good soups to try (and a steal at under 2 bucks for a large bowl), I recommend the mushroom soup. City chicken, stuffed cabbage, sausages (if it's on the menu that day, get the schnitzel) are also worthy options. If you're not stuffed enough (or feeling like a change of pace) excellent crepes with fruit filling are a nice way to go for dessert. 100% non-smoking, rare in a Downriver place, is nice, too, as are the daily fresh flowers at each table.

I was recently in Michigan visiting my grandpa and his sister and we ate here twice during my 5-day stay. I really enjoyed the food. Every time we went the place was PACKED. I really think its the combination of good quality polish food and the extremely reasonable prices. The pickle soup was delicious, slightly creamy with some pickle chunks, lots of dill and not too salty. The pierogis were large, homemade and perfectly cooked. My grandpa had a kielbasa sandwich that looked very tasty. We took some stuffed cabbage home and reheated them the next day. I think it was $1.50 per stuffed cabbage and they were huge. The cabbage flavor was not overwhelmed by the sauce and the filling was delicious. They offer all my favorite polish dishes - bigos, pickle soup, pierogis, stuffed cabbage and many more. I will definitely be back on my next visit.

We went to Sabina's for lunch based on Yelp reviews. When in the Dearborn again we'll stop back. Definitely a favorite with the locals, busy place. Great specials. We went for the kielbasa and pirogies and we're not disappointed. Service was quick and attentive.

Good old fashion polish food.. amazing dill soup!!! Their traditional fried foods like pierogi and potatoe pancakes tend to be a little greasy but once in a while it can't be that bad! And they taste so good! Good kraut as well! Tends to be packed all the time.. esp during lent...

Sabina's is very inexpensive and has great Polish comfort food. My husband got Hungarian pancakes and was very happy with the dish. I got the Z sandwich and it was delicious. Fast service, squeaky clean dining area and easy access off the freeway ensure we'll come back often.

Pretty happy with my first trip here. Polonias in Hamtramck still ranks #1 in Polish food. Had the cabbage soup and was pretty standard. Went with the combo meal with the fresh kielbasa.

Very good food for decent prices. I've only been to one Polish restaurant so I am no expert, but it was all good. I had the combination plate with smoked sausage. My favorite was the pierogi and the sausage. The stuffed cabbage was really good too, I am just used to my moms which is the best!

The food here is delicious and the carrot cake is very, very yummy. It's a little crammed when the tiny eatery is full of people. But the waitresses are usually patient and kind. Always am happy and full by the time I leave! :D

One of my favorite downriver restaurants. Good food, good staff. Golambki better than mom's. Just sometimes too crowded.

Closest thing to home made Polish food I have found. Excellent service, very clean and the food was excellent. Dill pickle soup was incredible. City chicken was fall of the stick tender. Large portions for not much $$$$$$.

Went here and got the polish lunch and am stuffed. I couldn't even finish it all. Staff was friendly and quick. To my surprise they take credit card here and don't pull any of that $10 min crap. Food was good, nothing amazing but damn good.
