This place has outstanding New York style, thin crust pizza. The lunch slices are huge New York style slices. I've also had the pasta, and it was very good. There are tables to dine in, but it's not a dine in restaurant and there is no waitstaff. The inside has a very cool Detroit sports theme with tons of pictures. The employees and owner are very friendly, I talk sports with the owner whenever I come. Oh, I almost forgot, the prices are very reasonable as well. Overall you get very good food and it doesn't cost an arm and a leg.

I grew up in the area and I'm always rooting for local businesses. Fredi's is a small take out place with one or two little booths if you are going to sit down quickly and eat. I've only had the pizza from Fredi's and I'm unimpressed. Although I've had worse, I've definitely had better. It's not something I would consider ordering again. It definitely doesn't make me want to try anything else there but I may give them another chance someday.

I've worked in the area for years and found this restaurant while running errands at lunch. Fast forward a few weeks to a sunny summer day and I thought I'd try their pizza, the pizza was fantastic and even though they are right on Allen Rd. it was nice to sit at the picnic table and enjoy my slice. After the Free Press had an article about great sandwiches in Detroit and one of the owners said that Fredi's toasted Italian sandwich was fantastic I thought I'd stop in again. The Toasted Italian didn't disappoint - Crunchy focaccia , great homemade dressing, quality ham and salami plus ripe fresh tomatoes combine for a top notch sandwich. Sure an Italian sub is a fairly common offering but they clearly use the best ingredients to make a simple sandwich super. On top of the great food the restaurant is super clean, the owner was really friendly taking time to talk to all of his customers. This is a real gem if you want to have a great lunch in a locally owned restaurant in Melvindale / Allen Park!

Everytime I call to order, if I have a question .. I swear the rude guy on the phone ( owner I think) sighs and I can almost hear his eyes rolling. The food isn't good either. So to the owner- you don't have great food to be as rude as you are/ or your staff! I will not order here again and I lived in this neighborhood for 17 yrs. I really don't know anyone who likes it.

I've stopped in here a few times on my way home from meetings in Dearborn. Slices are New York style, big and thin, perfect for folding. Calzones are fantastic. And on a whim I tried the goulash. Large portion and even better the next day after sitting in the fridge overnight. Tasted...spicier? Yum.

Great service! Great food! The staff knows the regulars by name. The toasted Italian sub is phenomenal, the bread is toasted perfect and it is topped with lettuce tomato and onion and generous portions of salami and ham. And and not to mention the homemade dressing is to die for! Pizza and the pizza sauce is yummy! Always fresh! Thanks!

For the price you are not going to find much better than Fredi's. Fredi's is located in a former Hungry Howies pizza building tucked away near the border of Melvindale and Dearborn. It only houses 3 tables, but it really isn't intended to be a sit down place. Fredi's is the first take-out Italian place I have ever seen, and they have pulled it off quite well. Their pasta's are not home made, but it is not really a concern considering the prices and portions provided. For $6.00 you can get a 8" x 4" x 2" container filled with Gnocchi or Ravioli with sauce, and for an added 1.00 or 1.50 you can choose to add sausage, meatballs, meat sauce, mushrooms, and I beleive there were a few more options available. They also offer an array of comfort foods and pizza (niether of which I have tried... yet). It is not some superb Italian joint, but if you need a quick fix of homemade sauce on pre-made pasta for an amazing price, Fredi's will suit you nicely.
