Bay View Bwd And Breakfast

We stayed at the Bay View the week of the 4th of July. Our stay was fantastic, we stayed in suite #1. Was the room emaculate, no, but that is what you get with a 100+ year old B&B. There was some cracked paint on the door of the bathroom and other such things, but that is the charm of an "old lady" like the Bay View. If you want cookie cutter, go to a new property where all the rooms look the same. The suite was nicely laid out, with a bedroom, seperate room with shower and toilet and right across a room with the sink and vanity. Then up a few steps was a smaill kitchenette (stove top, since and small fridge) and a nice sitting area with a table for two, small chair and a small sectional type sofa. In the sitting area was a door to a private balcony overlooking the water. The only drawback to the whole room was that the knats and mesquitos were horrible on the deck, they seems to flock to the screen door....so we did not use it very often. As for the service at the Bay View, TOP NOTCH! From the check in, to the great staff in the breakfast room (serving breakfast in the AM, cookies in the afternoon and dessert at night) they could not have been better. If we wanted to take our breakfast or dessert to our room, or the front porch of the back deck they were more than happy to set us up with a togo tray. If we were going to be back a little late and miss the 8-9 deessert hour, they gladly made some up for us and held them for us. They took a real interest in all their guests and went out of their way to make us feel special. We will definitly be back to Mackinac Island, and we will most definitly stay at the Bay View again!

Haan's 1830 Inn is such a wonderful place to stay. It is clean, comfortable and we look forward to coming every year. By Island standards, it is quite reasonable and the breakfast is fantastic. You will not find a better place to stay!

Wow, what more can I say. Our stay was wonderful, and words cannot do it justice. We honeymooned here 10/22-10/23, and we wish we could have stayed longer. Our trip was spectacular, and the shining highlight was the Cloghaun! We stayed in room 10, which had a large, beautiful, antique tub and bed along with period art and furniture. The mattress was comfortable, pillows plush, towels were overstocked in abundance, and our room was immaculately clean. We were tickled pink by the glycerin soap provided which smelled like gardenias (to me, very light floral) and the lovely quilt on our bed. The staff was exceptional. We had many wonderful conversations and felt at home. Being that it was the off season, we were one of the few couples there, and we were treated like VIP guests. They had great recommendations for food, and were always happy to help with a smile. We also booked a "special deal" where due to us staying on non-peak times in the off season we received an excellent rate. This included a hot breakfast with delicious strata and coffee cake, and a tea time with their 7 layer bars and a selection of teas that you could have in their lovely china. Those 7 layer bars. Oh my goodness. My husband and I could have eaten them out of house and home! I could not recommend this place more to anyone. We will definitely stay again!
Awesome place. Best b&b on the island. Service was great, very cozy and clean. I plan on staying here every time I come to the island.
Beautiful little bed and breakfast in a great location. Recommend a room with a balcony where you can sit, relax, and listen to horses and bikes go by.

My wife and rode 11 miles then stopped in for burgers. Just awesome! Great beef flavor and fresh ingredients. There is something very satisfying about being able to eat a lick-your-fingers burger after a long ride. We met the owner and he gave a us a great overview of Mackinac while we ate. Definitely need to stop by if you're on the island!
The location is beyond beautiful. By the time you arrive at the packed gravel patio that fronts the cannonball you have most certainly experienced one of the most "Pure Michigan" landscapes. Even on one of the busiest weekends of the year (Labor Day) there is ample seating, and more than enough beach to go around. The food is typical of a concession stand. You will not experience a culinary revolution here, unless your gentle palette has never indulged in the savory sensation that is the hot dog. The demand is high as is the volume of customers, you will wait a few minutes. This should not surprise you, this place is so far off the beaten path that Tom Hanks and Wilson ate here on Sundays (those scenes were cut to shorten the movie). Bathrooms and walking trails surround the stand. Be sure to checkout their poison ivy display, you may get a chance to bring some of the island home with you.
Definitely has the best burgers on the island. If you are biking around the island, this is the spot to stop. Also a big plus are the shaded picnic tables with a great view of Macinac Bridge

Small Point Bed and Breakfast

Reviews:
Most affordable option in Mackinac Island, and definitely one of the more rustic experiences. The breakfast is cold (muffins, bagels, etc) but has great variety and is delicious. Bikes can be rented here for $17 a day, which is a much better rate than bike rentals closer to Main Street. While Small Point is a bit out of the way (15 min walk to Main St), it is secluded enough to really get away from it all while providing affordable lodging on the island. I will probably stay here again.

Lovely bed and breakfast, the rooms were quiet and ours was a smaller cheaper room but had two comfy chairs and nice queen bed. The dessert our first night at 8pm was a real treat Amish oatmeal pie warm from oven. Harold is a professional. He served our breakfast and dessert. The breakfast was also great, cinnamon roll, fresh fruit, and quiche. The next evening chocolate cake with ice cream can't wait to see what is for breakfast tomorrow. Glad we have done lots of walking on the Island.

I really enjoyed staying here. It's just steps away from the main drag, but very quiet. I loved the sound of the horse carriages coming down the street at night. The gardens are really beautiful and well maintained. The people who run the place are lovely people. The continental breakfast has so many tasty choices, and the service is great. I have stayed here twice and have no reason to look anywhere else on the island to stay.
What a lovely, lovely, lovely place. I felt lucky to be staying there. The service was top notch. The rooms were simply delightful with super comfy beds. They have the most yummy continental breakfast I've ever had. The gardens are the best on the island. It's just behind the main drag, so it's a little more peaceful but you still get horse drawn carts going past all the time. I really don't know what else to say. It is just such a wonderful place. I will certainly be staying there again.
good location, very expensive, very very dusty. needs major cleaning

Cute homey little place that has the best service and probably the best food on the main street on Mackinac. The hostess and waitress were very friendly. There was a slight wait for a table, but not too long. The fish was excellent and so are their lunch specials, I would take advantage of that because you won't be able to find much else for $8-9. Portions were a bit small, but maybe that's because I'm a Chicagoan and we're used to huge portions here. Overall, great experience here.
Nice atmosphere and décor. Service was good but food ok but not great. Had to send back beef sandwich special. Exchanged with burger which was good.
Not a great experience but not a disaster either. Our blue cheese truffle fries were really just fries with blue cheese dressing on the side. If there was truffle oil, I couldn't taste it. Our white fish chowder was cold and tasted like it easily could have been from a can. The grilled cheese off the kids menu was just american cheese. The best thing was the salad which came with tasty bread.

Pink Pony Bar & Grill

We had a late afternoon lunch.Had a beautiful view from inside seating.Food is not extra ordinary. It certainly is pricey. White fish - the most popular item in the island was not available! Ended up in the same place for dinner this time seated over looking the bar. It was 12 am and this seemed to be the only decent place to dine in downtown (Mackinac island, MI). The chicken quesadilla (with coke and french fries) was atrocious. I was in love with it. Food is good but not worth the money that you pay. Considering that even a pizza (a piece) is $10 in the island, you better choose Pink pony for a decent lunch and dinner, rather than sitting at a crowded fast food place/pizzeria.
Great list custom drinks, try the homemade bloody mary mix! Prices are competitive, particularly for a tourist town. Specialty drinks are in the $10 range, beer pints about $5 or so. They have a very diverse and satisfying menu. There is plenty of indoor seating, bar space, and an outdoor patio. Weekend evenings they have acoustic entertainment that sits right up on the bar. The pink pony is a very fun place!
This is always the first stop when we finish the Race. Until 2 Years ago I had never eaten here because it's the bar you traditionally drink at. I had the pleasure of spending a week on the Island after the Race for a wedding and was able to enjoy a delicious breakfast buffet before hopping the Ferry back to reality. Live music on the super small stage behind the Bar and an amazingly attentive Bar/Wait staff for the crowds that pile in here. Well worth the stop in to take in an institution on the Island, it has been the place of many a Victory celebration by tired sailors over the years after completing both the Chicago and Bayview to Mac Island race.

Went with a group of friends and we all enjoyed our meals. Great meal and speedy, courteous service I recommend the Davenport Orrichette
Don't take names and so had to wait for about 45 min to call our name. Very strange way to run a restaurant. I can understand no reservations but no list. Most others in party had good food. My prime rib sandwich was way overcooked. Our waiter was good though and kept our drinks refilled.
I came here with 22 people and they accommodated us very well. Also very nice hostesses and good food, but our hostess was not the nicest person ever. My two cousins switched seats just with each other and she was rude about. Other than that it was a nice lunch. I would probably come here again...
