Ordered whitefish, supposed to be their speciality. I had to add salt three times and order extra lemons just to give it some taste. Only got baked potato and rolls with dinner. Had to pay extra for salad. The baked potato was also disappointing, it was boiled first and barely hot. My husband ordered the seafood platter. It looked good but he said Long John Silvers is just as good. Had to leave and go get dessert because I was still hungry.

The desk clerk at the Best Western down the street recommended this place when we asked about dinner. Her recommendation was a good one. I had the seafood platter - battered scallops, shrimp, cod, and perch with fries. My wife had the shrimp stuffed with crab on rice and covered with mozzarella cheese. Both meals were very good, The batter used in the seafood platter was very light and tasty. The fish were tender and perfectly cooked as were the steak fries. Service was very good and the staff, very friendly. From the outside, the restaurant doesn't look like much, but the inside is somewhat classy and tastefully decorated with some interesting artwork. The restaurant is open only for dinner. We got there early and had to wait for the doors to open. The restaurant filled up quite quickly.

The place is outdated and has old decor, but very clean, and the food is just delicious ! I tried four different kind of fish and all tasted absolutely great. Would definitely visit again, the next time I'm in the area. Also, the service was great and quick.

Overpriced for dinner menu, service and quality of food. I would skip this place if you have other options. The food: French onion soup-below average Caesar salad-average Fried perch with Fries-Perch was the only menu item I would consider good. The fries weren't worth eating-the flavor and texture were off. These were some of the worst fries I've been served at any restaurant. The service was only just acceptable and not worthy of a place charging $20+/entree.

Scotty....don't. This place smells like a musty basement! The Prime Rib tasted like fish! Greasy food=upset stomach!

Good but not great. Over priced for the food quality and service compared to the other top places in town (Jamesport Brewery and Blu Moon). But it offers a broad menu with a lot of seafood (crab, lobster), pasta, prime rib, fish, and some interesting dishes such as chicken with peaches, and there's even a large kids menu. Good selection of wine and beer. Service was slow and servers could know the menu better when customers ask questions, but they are very nice. I ordered the house salad (it was ok, it was an Asian salad, would suggest the tossed salad instead), and the chicken with peaches (chicken was a over cooked and the dish was very sweet (guess that's what you get with peaches), others in the dinner party ordered Alaskan King Crab ($30 but very good), orange ruffy stuffed with crab (didn't try it but looked very good and received rave reviews from my fellow diner), fried shrimp and fries, kids' spaghetti (huge order and tasty) and kids' pizza stick (seemed a little too dry, bready to me). Drinks were reasonably priced but entrees are $15-$30. We made reservations on a weeknight in the summer during prime dinner hour but plenty of seats were available. It does get packed on the weekends. It's good place but won't blow you away.

Very good homestyle cooking. Very friendly staff and a great place for group gatherings. Very solid menu with something for everyone.

Food is fine here. I'm vegetarian and had the Roma pasta. Good amount of veggies in it and cheese sauce was flavorful. My husband had the prime rib which he found to be very much to his taste. Service was attentive without being overbearing. Having said that, it irks me to no end when a hostess refuses to seat us in a booth when they are obviously open ones available. There were 6 booths. Only one was occupied. The hostess told us she had to keep them open for up to 2 hours for incoming reservations! We told her we would be quick--we don't drink and we generally do not have desserts. She stated she had to do that just in case someone comes early--2 HOURS--really?? We were saved by our server. I had a sour look on my face--she noticed and we told her the situation. She took us over to the booth section and I calmed down to enjoy my dinner.

Stopped here for lunch. My husband came here in the 90s when going on charter fishing trips. He always raved about the perch. The decor hasn't changed since the 90s. We each had soup, french onion and crab. Both were OK not anything special. I had the perch sandwich and hubby had perch dinner. Both came with fries. The perch was very good as we're the fries. It was worth the stop for the perch, but would skip the soups next time.

Excellent prime rib--one of the best I've ever had. Cheese-stuffed pasta was good too. Fish is just ok--if you like deep fried food you'll probably enjoy more than I did. Really good service and friendly staff. Perhaps Ludington's nicest restaurant.

Experienced great tasting seafood & astonishing service. Met my grandparents & brought our young child. Server was excellent at engaging our toddler & very accommodating when she started to have meltdown. Boxed our food up & brought the bill promptly. The food was hot, delicious, and prompt. No complaints. Memorable experience.

This place isn't bad but it's not awesome. I had a pork chop. It was dry-ish and rather bland tasting. Wasn't bad but for $19 it should be better. Otherwise the place is good. Clean, good service.

Family-style restaurant with lots of dressing on the salad and good value, if that is measured in amounts of food per dollar. The bar makes cocktails with pre-made mixes, service is polite and food is ok.

Been coming here forever . The Scott family does a great job to make you feel at home. They also give a great value for your dollar. I have read some of these reviews - most are very possitive, the others are from one time dinners that may have been there on a rare off nite. I really enjoy this fine dinning quality with a relaxed atmosphere . Thanx to Dick, Doreen & Chip and the rest of the Crew for giving Ludington a nice place to dine...

Perch was ordered with side salad. The small had 6 pieces. Fish was good. Lightly battered and served warm. Salad was a nice size. Only iceberg in the mix. Very much a 1970's decor. Clean and neat. Service was friendly and attentive. Price was reasonable for adults but pricey for bringing kids. I would go back.

This restaurant appears to be a local favorite but not for us. With no waiting line at 8:00 we waited 15 minutes to be seated, having been told our table was being cleared, despite the many cleared tables available. And here's the kicker: while waiting a party of 6 arrived who almost immediately were directed to the table we were waiting for. We had read the reviews and menu on the internet which said gourmet hamburgers would be served for lunch as well as dinner, but when we got there, they said no, just a basic hamburger was available, as an exception, because hamburgers of no sort were usually served at dinner. We declined the favor and opted for two full meals. I got the house special, perch which came with your choice of potatoes but no vegetable or even coleslaw. The presentation was disappointing. Five finger pieces of fried perch on a barren plate, a separate bowl of mashed potatoes with of all things beef gravy. My husband got the small rib roast, again presented on a barren plate with a side dish of fries. Again no vegetable.the au jus was either canned or bouillon but was presented most elegantly in a tin can perched atop a candle. Ultimately the food was good but would not go back.

A great place to meet and catch up with friends while enjoying a good meal. Family owners work alongside staff. Servers hit a comfortable mix of friendly, competent, and grown-up: no "how you guys doin?'" stuff here. Prime rib is consistently as good as you can find anywhere. So are the walleye and the perch. Do not miss the deep-fried asparagus in the spring. Desserts are very good; salads not so much. Not the place for a high-end wine experience, but it is very well tuned to its community and repeat clientele, including us.

"One of THE best meals I've ever had. Perch...oh my goodness. Along with Kendal Jackson chardonnay. Awesome, plentiful warm rolls and butter, real butter. A wonderful family business. Ask for Mark. He's great."

Visited Luddington, MI from 8/14/11-8/21/11 and ate there the evening of 8/20. Been to Luddington for the past several years & driven past Scotty's many times. Drove past & saw a sign saying they have the best perch in MI and my husband loves perch so we went in for dinner. Didn't wait for a table and noticed the restaurant is rather large & was packed for dinner! Decor a bit outdated but everything was clean - even the green carpet and cloth placemats! I hate when restaurants don't put new placemats down but I did notice a bus girl taking the old ones out & replacing with clean ones. Waitress could only handle one thing at a time - she came to our table & welcomed us & then said she had a few tables to get to & then will come back to us - she didn't even take our drink order. By the time she got back to us we ordered our full meal-drinks, appetizer, and dinner. I had: french onion soup, Double Heart beer (local craft beer brewed in MI - very good), and apple-bacon-cranberry stuffed chicken breast. My husband had: cracker plate, Double Heart beer, and perch. As we waited I noticed as the nearby tables finished their dinner, the waitress would put up the stand and put a tray on top, clear the dirty plates, utensils, and dirty cups onto the tray & then walk away! TOTALLY GROSS!! Then I had to sit and look at the pile of gross stuff until someone eventually took the tray away! GROSS GROSS GROSS! I told my husband that that is the deal breaker & I would not come back to the restaurant no matter how good the food. Fortunately, by the time our dinner came out, the trays had been removed as the restaurant cleared out. My chicken was DELICIOUS! Rob really enjoyed his perch too. So, we are kinda torn - the food was very delicious & would go back for it, but the service was ok (think more a factor of the specific waitress) and the whole dirty-dishes-left-out-on-trays factor was gross & a deal breaker. Scotty's, please please please stop this practice and bus the dirty stuff to the kitchen right away!

A family-style restaurant with large tables and booths. I'm a non-smoker--but not when I walk through Scotty's. Very bad at times. The food is okay--they feature prime rib specials occasionally that are very good and the serving size is more than generous. Love their spinach salad. Wait staff spotty. Restaurant is not as clean as others in the area.
