The food here was adequate, nothing special really. The service was friendly but a bit rushed. The menu was very basic and was, according to the server, not very accurate, things were blacked out with a marker. All in all, good for quick and inexpensive food but cuisine it is not.

This place has the best greek salads! I love them so much! But the last few times I've been there and picked somthing out on the menu or the specials board, the are out or 'haven't made that in over a year' which confuses me because it's on the menu. So when you order, be sure to have back up choices.

In the world of coney islands, Spangas rates fair. Their Greek salads are a little different than most with the addition of dill and a sweeter tasting dressing. It was good, nothing wrong with being different! The chili cheese fries are what you would expect... sinfully delicious! Their breakfast portions are surprisingly small compared to what I am used to getting at other coneys. And the prices a bit higher too! When going for a coney island breakfast, I expect to get a huge portion of hashbrowns that cover half the plate! Spangas disappointed!!! They barely served a palm sized portion! My husband had to order an additional side order of hashbrowns and again, the side was palm size! I do not expect this Livonia location to survive for too long with these portion sizes!

It's a coney but not great. There isn't any one thing that jumps out. The food was ok but nothing great. My kids got a hotdog and hamburger I got eggs. The waitress was very nice but the place wasn't very busy and it felt like she disappeared alot.

It's my opinion, that there are way too many coney's and if you are going to open one, you need to try to stand out from the rest... Establishment is clean. The wait staff was friendly and prompt with service. Unfortunately, I had to get up and request creamer for my coffee. Food: My breakfast (without coffee) was $5.65. I think it's a fair price for quantity...I'm not looking for huge portions (as you get with most coneys), but I do look for quality and flavor. My breakfast was poor in quality. The american fries (thin slices of potatoes) were soggy/limp and overcooked (burnt flavor), but cool. This led me to think that they were left overs from yesterday and just reheated : ( My omelet (greek) looked very nice, but again seriously lacking in flavor. Large chunks of raw onion ( I prefer them cooked), but itsy bitsy pieces of gyro meat and light on the feta. I loved the egg white (which I prefer, as I don't like a puffy omelet). The only reason this omelet tasted decent was because of the gyro sauce, which the waitress recommended. I am happy to note that she did not charge me for the sauce, as it's not mentioned as being included. The toast was dry. There wasn't any butter at the table. $1.75 for a cup of coffee...a bit pricey for regular diner type coffee. My husband had a bowl of bean soup and described it as mediocre. Interestingly the waitress brought the soup before my meal was served. So my husband ate his soup and we waited another 10-15 minutes for my meal to come. He was left sitting there with nothing to eat. The soup was a bit pricey $2.75 for a very small bowl. Kerby's is the place to go for a good homemade bowl of soup. They give your a BOWL...meaning the price is appropriate for the size of the bowl. I would not return as I know there are other places that for the same price offer a better quality product. Again this has nothing to do with portion size as others mentioned; I'm willing to pay for quality, fresh tasting, flavorful food. : ) Happy Eating E

I work near here and bought a Groupon. Disappointed to find out that I could not order extra to take home, so I could not use the Groupon that day. I had the Gyro, which was ok. Lemon rice soup was ok. Pretty limited menu. I like Leo's Coney in Canton a lot better. Their lemon rice soup is to die for, and their Gyro is bigger with more meat. I am always disappointed when a Coney does not have mac & cheese for my son. Leo's does, and my son devours it! Ok, went back a second time to use my Groupon with my family. My husband really enjoyed the greek salad, said it was the best he's had, and he has had a lot of them. I enjoyed my Gyro with spicy sauce. My son enjoyed his french fries and hamburger. The lemon rice soup was yummy.

I love this place. I go often and the food is always good. I haven't tired much because what I do get- Greek Salad pita is so good I don't want to venture off from what I love so much. They are quick, so it's a good place for a quick lunch if you only have a hour. The service leaves a lot to be desired but what do you expect from a coney!? Pricing is reasonable.

Compared to other Coneys in the area, the food is on par, the prices are more, the portions are less. I had a chicken finger pita and it was pretty good. The fries were delicious. Nice interior. The more expensive prices are what gets me.

Another day, another groupon. This was a pleasant surprise. Spangas is a coney island. That is obvious, by the name, so those patrons who are expecting a fine dining experience will be disappointed. But, this coney is better than the usual Detroit fare. True, I did not have a coney, but to do coney wars in this area is too personal...everyone has their favorite and there is not a Yelper alive who can persuade a Detroiter to change their mind. Spangas is, however a step above the Leo's, L George's and Senate's for the "other" dishes. I had the chicken gyro with a small Greek salad. The salad had a really fresh tasting dressing...not the oily thick dressing the others have. I had the chicken gyro...very, very good. The chicken was marinated and char broiled. My husband had the chef salad. It was a large salad loaded with eggs, meat and veggies. Waitstaff was pleasant and very accommodating. The restaurant is clean and very family friendly. The vestibule boasted a bulletin board which displayed the community involvement the restaurant is involved with. Try it, you might like it!

We have only gone to Spangas for breakfast, but we are repeat customers- I think it's great. I think they have the best and most consistent french toast around. My husband always gets an omelet, and we are always very satisfied with the food, price, and service. One thing I noticed is that in their 4 compartment jelly server, they always fill each section with one flavor of jelly- that means you always see all 4 choices available on each table. I just hate it when restaurants randomly fill the server, and then you end up with a table of one strawberry, 10 grapes, and 8 orange marmalades. Their service has always been quick and consistent, and prices are great.

I've only gone during lunch hours. Food: (specifically all lunch specials) are pretty ok! Chicken gyro is better than what I had expected. Cheeseburger was ok. Friday's Fish'n'Chips special is... also just ok. As for the side dishes that come with the specials.... Soup and salad are ok, but the fries are GRRRRRREAT! Overall score: 3.5 Timeliness: didn't have to wait long for 2 orders to come out. Waited probably around 10 minutes. Never got an order wrong, yet. Overall score: 4 Cleanliness: bathroom and dining area was not that dirty, however, my wife found a drop of some sauce on her napkin wrapped fork's tips. I wonder what the kitchen looks like... Overall score: 3 Staff: not so enthusiastic/warm some days, while other days, their attitudes change to just ok. They do come up to the table to check on how we were doing. I wonder Overall score: 3.5 Price: for the amount of food and quality you get per price, I'd say it's a little better than your average restaurants! Overall score: 4 I'd recommend this place to anyone.

Spanga's is a pretty standard coney island with a nicer decor. The food was also pretty standard. I had the chicken lemon rice soup which was nice and rich and the normal thicker consistency. It had a little sweetness to it but just the right amount. I also got a coney dog and a cheese fry. The coney was pretty straight forward but the dog was a quality brand with a nice snap and plenty of flavor. The fries are a little larger than the typical coney fry and they were well done which is a bonus. All to often they're underdone and floppy but these were pretty good with a thinner cheese sauce than the norm. I also noticed that the chicken gyros my friends ordered had really bright fresh lettuce and they had mentioned that the pitas were better than the norm too. Service was solid and our waitress was really accommodating! On the down side, they only had one cook working the grill so our food took a lot longer than any coney experience I've had elsewhere. Their prices are a little higher for the same coney island items so when our bill came what would normally cost $6-7 will run you a few dollars more FYI. I liked this place but not enough to go out of my way to pay the few extra ducats.

The best service! Waitresses are friendly and accommodating. They keep the coffee cup full! (A great perk!) The Greek chicken sandwich is wonderful. Breakfast is always good. IMHO this is the nicest little coney in the area. The only small negative is the last couple of times the soup has not been great. Lemon rice had very little flavor and chicken noodle was way too salty. But hey, anyone can have a bad day. The owners are very community minded and have donated to local causes. We go here often and will continue to do so.

Yum! Clean, prompt, friendly. The Greek salad is really good, though I would request more feta. The gyro is tasty too. (Bread is really good!) Breakfast- Delish!! Love the greek omelette (I add extra feta) and waffle. Every 5 punches on punch card get $5 off coupon.

Delicious Greek salads as they add Dill and the dressing is sweeter than most Greek salads. The pita served with it is always deliciously right off the grill-mmmmm. To me, the food is MUCH better than a typical Coney Island. I don't feel greasy or dirty after eating here, or regret eating the good a few hours later in the bathroom (TMI). Their homemade Chicken Lemon Rice soup is AMAZING! Tastes authentic and like non-other. I crave it often. They have great daily meal deals as well. You can get a soda, gyro and French fries for (I think) $5.99. Like I mentioned, I feel much better about the cleanliness of this place over Kerbys which is in the plaza across Newburgh. You can really tell in the bathrooms of the two places. Kerbys is disgusting. This place smells good and is CLEAN. The service has always been prompt, friendly, and fresh. Better than you'd expect from any Coney Island. My favorite place in town!

The best cheese burger around, excellent onion rings, also the bacon cheese burger is great. A phenomenal lunch stop. STOP! It's been 1 month since last review, evidently things have changed. Management, cooks, wait staff and Food are all Terrible now. Don't waste your money. Heard this from neighbors but had to find out the hard way. Don't Go you'll be sorry....
