We love love love this sushi. Fresh and so many fun rolls to choose from. Very creative and again - did I mention fresh?? Absolutely correct proportions. Wasabi and ginger always fresh and crisp. Miso is delicious. We bring our own alcohol in as they don't have a liquor license yet.

My husband and I had planned on grabbing sushi at another place, but they were closed and we were having major sushi withdrawals, so we decided to drive a little farther to try out Izumi. I was not disappointed in the least. Their sushi was great, and there were many options. The staff was attentive, and the atmosphere wasn't bad for a small place. I wish the tables had each felt a little bit more secluded, as do our other favorite Japanese restaurants, but I can get past that and visit again to try out some of their other rolls!

Meh..is all I can really say. The rolls where dry, the sashimi was Ok. Reminded me of fast food sushi or store prep'd sushi. Nothing has survived in that location, ever. I do not expect Izumi to break that trend. Decor was nill, atmosphere was nill..

I was here this week and had the Shrimp Tempura lunch. I can't address the quality of the sushi because I'm not an expert and the lunch (kind of a bento box on a plate) only had 2 little pieces. I will say that the Tempura was excellent, crispy golden on the outside-tender and tasty on the inside. The decor could be described as minimalist but better that than the kitsch that passes for Japanese decor in too many restaurants. My waitress was pleasant and efficient. Her English was good and that's not something you can count on in ethnic restaurants. I thought the prices were fair for what I got. The only disappointment I had was I made the mistake of ordering salad instead of soup with my meal. I got a bowl with just iceberg lettuce, a few cucumber cuts and one grape tomato. I know it's October in Michigan but come on. I've heard that in Japan they make a nice spinach salad. I expect iceberg at a second tier coney island not a place like this.

Sorry, I've been to this place twice and neither time was impressive. Rolls were a little undersized and uninspiring. I've had much better. I'm guessing they're having a hard time paying bills because things seem to be a little lacking. Such as number of ingredients in the roll. The food didn't come like the pictures or descriptions. If I want sushi in the area I think I'll just go to the other standbys.

Just experienced perfect sashimi tuna and scallops. High quality food fare. Food has always been good. I have tried a variety of rolls and sushi types. Fishy tasting fish is not for me like it is some self proclaimed sushi coniseur's. Restaurant is spotless. Service has always been good even when every seat was occupied. I have read other posts regarding service at this facility and I am very puzzled. As far as food criticism, I can only refer to my experiences and personal taste. We all know some people will never be happy and others would critize the best meal in a seedy pathetic effort to get their meal for free. I would recommend this restaurant. I choose to eat here a minimum of twice a week. If you try it and don't care for it for your particular expectations, might I recommend you don't return.

I had an Entertainment book coupon (that I printed off the website). When I gave it to them, they told me they "don't accept Entertainment coupons." What? They claimed that they had changed ownership several years ago and now don't accept the coupons. If the ownership had changed after this year's book came out, I would understand, but this is ridiculous. I ONLY went here because I should have gotten $5 off. The sushi was decent, but not amazing, so I won't be returning purely on principle. I prefer to give my money to honest businesses.

Yum! Izumi is delicious. I can only review based on carryout. They deliver! I have had the hibachi shrimp dinner at least 5 times. This dinner comes with a ton of large shrimp, delicious veggies and enough rice to last you seconds and thirds. They delivered to my apartment which was a huge bonus.. They are not over priced.. in fact, they are quite reasonable vs behihana.. I will keep ordering from them & might even venture on inside.

Stopped in while in town for business. Seated quickly in a clean space. The server was attentive. The food was fresh and served quickly. I ordered hibachi and found it to be well prepared. Salad was fresh with delicious dressing. Definitely would recommend for a quick meal!

Good food, decent portions and FAST. I am a big fan of hibachi style food, and this is the first place I have been in the tri-county area that met my standards for food quality and portions. The prices are good for lunch, ok for dinner. Veggie tempura for the appetizer, and I had hibachi steak and shrimp, hubby had hibachi steak and chicken. Quality of everything was excellent, and the service was both fast and attentive. I like to eat hibachi about once a week, and this is my new go-to spot.

This is my favorite sushi restaurant by far. I come here a lot. I love the miso soup and usually order TWO servings because of that I love that this place offers soy paper for their sushi. The people who work here are so nice and are very attentive to the customer :)

I'm a little torn on this place. On the positive side the sushi was pretty good. I ordered a spicy tuna roll, a tomago (omelet on rice), an unagi freshwater eel and a couple tuna nigiri. The spicy tuna roll wasn't spicy (at all) but they added some tempura flakes (I think that was the crunch factor) to the filling which I liked very much. The tuna nigiri was fresh and melted in my mouth. The eel was tasty and not bony at all. Service was pretty attentive, the sushi chef was kind enough to say hello, and the restaurant was clean and bright. On the flipside, the plate of sushi that arrived was the worst presentation of sushi I've ever seen and almost unappealing to look at. The cut of the tuna was very thin and dainty. The eel was also thin and unattractive while the tomago was dry, crumbly, broken, thin, sad looking and tasted like tea. They only gave me a little wasabi and the ginger was just kind of thrown on the plate in a wet pile. All that aside, the sushi was, again, pretty good tasting but I think the chef was struggling to keep up with customers while the "Help Wanted" sign on the front door let me know that things may be a little off before I even walked in. It's a solid 2.5 stars but I hope this place improves for its own sake.

Just ate there with my wife for lunch. Had the Crazy Tuna roll...feeling a little sick from it now. The "special sauce" was pretty nasty. On the sushi lunch had salmon roll ...dry and plain and the "Boston Roll". It had a squirt of some mayonnaise-type sauce on it. I had to scape it off. Tuna and Salmon sashimi were good (How can you mess that up? Answer: The yellowtail sashimi was still a little frozen. Overall it was pretty bad. I was hoping it would be good because it's close to my house. They are giving a cash discount of 10%. I am opting to save 100% instead.....the "don't go back discount".

Just ordered delivery from here and loved it! Got the shrimp and chicken hibachi dinner. Came with a carrot-ginger dressed salad, miso soup, fried rice, a large portion of veggies, and of course the chicken and shrimp (with a side of ginger glaze and yumyum sauce). The chicken was better than the shrimp in my opinion. But regardless everything was delicious. Plus, the delivery was quick. Highly recommend!

Loved it. The price is very reasonable for the high quality sushi received. Everything was extremely fresh. The presentation of their premium rolls was not only fun but very upscale. I have been to many sushi places and this has been by far the most satisfying experience I've had in a long time. Very friendly and accommodating staff. I even received a chef appetizer roll for free, compliments of the chef. Highly recommended.

I have eaten at this place a few times and usually spend a good amount of money. Well on my recent carry out i found all the sushi very very bland and tasteless. I spent over $30.00, and well i asked for a side of sauce the cashier made me pay another quarter for the sauce, which i thought was classless. I will think twice before ordering sushi from here again.

Nope... Never again! First off... they don't serve any alcoholic beverages. We ordered crab rangoon, a few types of rolls, and some chicken fried rice, none of which had an explosion of flavor. The sushi was extremely bland and the ingredients were not quality. Perhaps we weren't in the mood that night, so we took it all home. Tried again the next day, the sushi wasn't even edible at this point.

My boyfriend and me went there for dinner, I had sushi deluxe (9 different pieces of raw fish with a roll, the sushi chef was nice to let me pick what fishes I wanted ) and my boyfriend had hibachi New York steak . The sushi was very fresh, my boyfriend liked the steak, finished everything on the plate. I've order carry out from here, LOVE the hot roll and spider roll. This place is family owned, new owners took over about a year ago, people there are really nice, always love to chat. I have no complaint what so ever , it is great food for its price !

So delicious! Great prices and good specials! I got the salmon box! I couldn't eat it all you get so much food! Miso soup, garden salad, egg roll, 2 pieces of salmon and 6 pieces of crab sushi! Honestly the salmon could of been cooked a little less but considering how think the slices were it's understandable! It still tastes delicious with the teriyaki sauce! Overall I would give it a 4 out of 5 stars and I wouldn't believe the nasty comment that other under wrote.

It's basically a storefront Hibachi place. Very limited menu. Staff was trying hard, but they outnumbered the patrons 2 to 1. The dollar roll we had for lunch was OK, nothing special. I wouldn't order one there again probably. I had the chicken hibachi and my co-worker had the steak hibachi. Same sauce, different meats. I can get the same in the frozen aisle of the grocery store. The rice was likewise lacking anything special. They're trying to fill a gap left by now-defunct Japanese and Indian restaurants in the same strip mall, but lacking anything to set them apaprt I'm wondering if they'll be next in line...

Love how this is one of the best in Livonia. All the other good ones are in Novi and Canton or far. I've eaten here once, but mostly get takeout. I love the sweet chili shrimp sushi, so delicious. Hibachi Dinners are huge portions, I get the chicken or shrimp. I've also had their teriyaki salmon. And the fried rice is on point. I was skeptical to get their chinese dishes, but the sesame chicken, I'd recommend

Found out they deliver through Grub Hub, figured it was worth a shot. My boyfriend order the Steak Hibachi dinner and I got the Spicy Rolls Combo. We live nearly 5 miles away, but the food was delivered hot & fresh as if we were at the restaurant. The rolls were decent, fresh, simple. The steak was cooked perfectly, the veggies for the dinner we're as well. We were pleased overall.

Nice, clean restaurant. The food is very fresh and presented well. Overall a good experience. My only complaint was that I thought the price was a little high, but then, considering how far they are from the ocean, that might be explainable. I will return.

This review is for carry out; I can't speak to the dine-in experience. We ordered from Izumi because of a mailer we received. Hubby went Chinese, with crab rangoons (I know, it's not really Chinese) and sweet & sour chicken (ditto). I went Japanese, with shumai (shrimp dumplings) and special roll. We were both impressed by the quality of the food, which was palpably fresh and excellently cooked. I recommend it.

Highly disappointed!!! Never will come back here ever! First off I showed up and asked for coffee and got tea instead. Honestly I asked nicely for coffee again and the waitress gives me tea again. Honestly how hard is that. And after ordering food I still got the wrong food! And then another thing about the waitress is that she was completely unresponsive towards my table. I will never be going here again. If you want something better there is another better place down the road.

Let's just start with a few facts. I know my way around a sushi roll. I worked at One World Market and have tried most sushi restaurant within the Wayne area. The sushi overall was horrible, but lets get to that later. First, my friend and I came into the restaurant and staff seemed friendly. There was only two other people there. So apparently at 7:30pm no one wants to eat here. We were going to order a Sushi Special but after doing the math it didn't seem worth it. We asked how many rolls came with the special but we had no idea what the waitress said to us. So we went with a Crunchy Roll and Spicy California Roll as well as Garden Salads. The Garden salads looked promising but how can you mess up a salad? Oh yeah, DRESSING. Often House Ginger dressing is amazing. At Tofu House and Totoro the dressing is amazing and thus I expected this. The thing they gave to us was basically mustard with some ginger in it. Horrible. I could barely eat it. Then the people that came in after us received their sushi. So where is our sushi? Maybe 6 minutes we got our sushi. They had maybe 4 rolls and we had 2. HOW?? And our rolls were very simple to make. I can and have made better sushi than this. The ingredients were not fresh. I could tell the rice had been sitting around all day. It was vaguely hard and very tasteless. The nori that was used was a bad cheap kind. You'd think a restaurant could buy good nori?? It's like 3 dollars. The flavors were very bland and just not worth the money. They didn't put as much 'meat' in the rolls as other sushi restaurants. The Crunchy Roll tasted the same as the Spicy California. The spicy sauce wasn't very spicy. That sauce is three ingredients, Sriracha sauce, Mayonnaise, and Masago (those tiny orange fish eggs). There was no masago and it was really saucy?? Basically, the sushi was horrible. Then our waitress didn't give us a bill (but gave the other people one) and we had to walk up to the counter where she was talking on the phone. The other people walked out and we waited a few minutes. Then finally we were given and bill and we left. The only good thing that was there was the milk candy they have at the counter. They also were hard to understand and there were a few english mistakes but nothing that big. And all the images in the menu are stock images that are stretched out. Their graphic designer needs to be punished. KEY POINTS: -OLD RICE -TASTELESS SUSHI -LACK OF GOOD INGREDIENTS -HORRIBLE SALAD -BAD SERVICE -PRICEY -BAD ATMOSPHERE (we sat under a green light and all our food was green looking) -NO BATHROOM (or it was hidden somewhere) -GOOD FREE CANDY Please, if you respect sushi, don't go here. IF you say this place tastes good than you have never eaten good sushi.

Average experience. Nothing to die for. Decor? what decor? Posting a japanese character on the wall doesn't make it a japanese restaurant

Went for dinner with wife. First impressions; could use a little more decorations\atmosphere but nice and clean inside. The menu is large which I appreciate because i'm selective in my sushi\Chinese\hibachi. Wife had sushi and I had hibachi chicken. Soup and salad was typical but we did like our entrees. They have a lot of choices and we will def go back to try some more options. Wife eats sushi often and she was impressed. The place had a decent crowd a lot of carry outs being picked up. Unfortunately we have seen other good restaurants there too that have not succeeded. (one of which was a great Lebanese restaurant). I think to survive in this location you really need to make a GREAT impression. For Izumi to survive I think they need to capture the lunch crowd too. I wish them luck!

I like this place, in particular, because it is the only sushi place that delivers to my condo. They deliver within 2 miles of their restaurant on 6 and Newburgh. The service was very friendly when they came to our door. We ordered two tempura boxes, a california roll, and a shrimp tempura roll. All were excellent! Tempura was fantastic and, while I may prefer other places for sushi, I would definitely order Izumi's sushi again! We also had a side of white rice, which definitely was NOT dry and tasted great! Decent prices as well and no delivery charge. I highly recommend if you are looking for some good delivery/take out in the area! As an additional plus, they'll take credit cards at your door now. They just got new devices that can swipe it upon delivery if you don't have cash.

My husband and I absolutely love this restaurant! The restaurant is always clean. The staff does an outstanding job of making feel us welcomed every time we visit. The last time we dined there, the chef treated us to a few sesame balls as a thank you dining with him again. The time before that we were sent home with a side of yum-yum sauce and a side of their salad dressing simply because I mentioned how much I loved the dressing. My husband always looks forward to the sushi and I always opt for the steak hibachi with a side of vegetables and fried rice. The yum-yum sauce is a must try with the fried rice! Izumi is our go-to restaurant when we want a good meal for a reasonable price.

This new Japanese restaurant appeared on my wife and my radar after visiting the Japanese market (Koyama Shoten) located in the same strip mall. Lately, we had been visiting a number of sushi restaurants in search of quality fish and the base of all Japanese cuisine - good rice. This place had both! Unlike many Japanese restaurants that serve mediocre to poor quality fish for sushi and sashimi, Izumi had tasty and fresh pieces of maguro (tuna), sake (salmon), tai (snapper), hamachi (yellowtail), and shiro maguro (white tuna). All were cut to perfect-sized pieces; not too thick or large. And you could taste the differences in each. The tuna tataki was nicely prepared though the ponzu sauce seemed a touch sweet instead of that touch of sourness that I'm accustomed to. The extra piece of hamachi I ordered melted in my mouth. Perfect. But the part of the meal my wife and I were looking the most forward to trying was the rice. If a Japanese sushi restaurant can't serve good quality rice, why bother? Perhaps casual sushi eaters are more focused on elaborate rolls that may mask the rice, but nigiri eaters know that the rice is half of the eating experience. Izumi did not disappoint. Not too hard or cold. Just good! They didn't seem to have beer or sake, but they did have that fun Japanese marble pop. Their menu also features hibachi-style offerings and Chinese selections as well. I'm a bit confused about the latter features, but if it's good and people like it more power to Izumi! We're definitely going to come back again!

I love Sushi, only not from Izumi. It tasted very unfresh and it was very very lacking in fish. Although, I contradict myself from the standpoint that it's hard to tell if it was unfresh because there was no fish. For example I had the Spicy Avocado roll, and it was like eating a hunk of avocado straight away. I've eaten at countless Sushi restaurants, and this is one of the worst. And I usually give places a second chance but not this one. The atmosphere was unJapenese like. It seemed way too Americanized, and it reminded me of eating in a Japanese hamburger joint. Avoid....

I dont know what Peter A. was talk about with their rice, by far it was the worst sushi I've ever had! The rice was horribly dry, the rolls are bland, and the ingredients at the bar looked like they've been sitting out for a while. It reminded me of pre-packaged sushi you'd get at a grocery store. Just awful. The miso soup was way too salty. In their defense, however, their chinese food was decent. the menu was overpriced too. The atmosphere was alright, nothing too exciting. When I went there were a number of customers in the place but it was way too quiet in there, kinda uncomfortable. I've seen many restaurants come and go throughout the years at that location and I think this one is on its way as well. Too bad, I was really excited to see a sushi place open up near me and the late hours were a plus too. But whats the point if the food is terrible. I'll just stick with my favorite sushi place...
