Slow service, over priced, average food.

Surly service, bad corned beef. At least the Guinness was good.

Claddagh is my go-to place for yummy fish and chips, messy Reuben sandwiches, and boisterous happy hours. The fish and chips feature a huge portion of lightly-battered cod. Perfectly fried, the cod was smooth, thick and tender. The Irish ale-batter was golden, light and crunchy. On this visit, I had the onion rings instead of the usual chips accompaniment. The latter featured large and thick rings of onions in a heavy batter, good but not great, a bit greasy as well. The Reuben sandwich, The Paddy Mac, included a healthy amount of corned beef topped with an even healthier portion of creamy coleslaw, on marbled rye with Swiss cheese. While I've had this sandwich multiple times, I have not yet mastered the art of eating it without making a mess. This means, my friends are treated to a sight of me with the sandwich ending up on my chin, plate, running down my arms, and heaped on my clothes. The sandwich is so flavorful that I risk it for the yummy combination of flavors. The corned beef and cabbage rolls appetizer is decent, as are the desserts. None of them are remarkable though. During warm summer evenings, eating on the patio is a must. Somehow, with sunglasses on, you can look glamorous while still having a messy sandwich. Service is generally okay.

Situated among a cluster of high end chain eateries (Mitchell's, Flemmings, etc.) we met friends here for fish and chips. Considering it was Friday, Lenten Season, and the Friday before St Patrick's Day we barely snuck in without a significant wait for our party of 6 which we were thankful for considering when we left the line was out the door. Our waitress was attentive and the Guinness poured properly having been given enough time to rest and complete with shamrock on top. Everyone in our party really enjoyed the fish and chips which consists of one complete filet (which is rare for fish and chips) potato wedges that were seasoned perfectly, and a dill flavored tartar sauce that was awesome. We really enjoyed our time here. In terms of authenticity folks it is what it is, it's a chain. I get really frustrated with reviews that knock a chain for not being "authentic". If you want "authentic" go to corktown, but if you want a place that is appropriate for your grandparents right down to your children, and enjoy a drink, decent food, with a little bit of Irish flavor around you, then consider here.

My dad likes this place because they have a deal on their fish and chips on Mondays. Service is decent, food is decent. Experience depends on where you sit. The room at the back is quieter, up front near the bar its loud.

I wasn't looking for a new place to eat out but while in Downtown Plymouth I decided to try a new restaurant and this place didn't disappoint. The server was right there asking questions and being social and accommodating, I know this is her job but she did it well and have to say it made the experience enjoyable. I had the fish and chips and my friend had the Reuben with chips. Both tasted amazing. It's very trendy and has the old world Irish feel that's warm and inviting. The manager stopped by twice to make sure everything was enjoyable. The experience made it a place I will try again.

Seated quickly at a table with 3 coworkers which was terribly wobbly. Ordered our lunches which came out quickly. However, our server was a little clumsy with my coworker's Dublin coddle and spilled one of the bangers out of an already small lunch-sized portion. She proclaimed "Oh, there goes one of your bangers!" but did not offer to replace it with a new one. Seriously? I ordered the salmon and spinach salad which was listed as coming with almonds, sundried tomatoes and feta. The salad came without the feta but also had cranberries. I asked for some feta as the menu listed it, and the waitress looked at me, unsure if I was making it up. She then said that the chef was provably sleeping back there (way to throw your coworker under the bus) and came back with a dressing-size cup of feta. She then asked if I had checked under the salmon to make sure there was no feta. Seriously? I quickly realized cranberries and sundried tomatoes are a terrible combination but ate the salad anyways because I was starving.

Good atmosphere for groups. Good Irish menu. Never really I've crowed when I've been there. Would recommend everyone to try it out.

In the past, this was a good place with good Irish fare. The last three times that I've gone, however, the service has seemed absentminded and was painfully slow. On one visit, it took over an hour to receive our order. On the next visit, the server forgot to bring the appetizer out. I'm not sure what happened to this once very nice eatery. But, it will be a while before I return to pay good money for a mediocre experience.

The fish and chips is very good but the rest of the menu is so not! * Shepard's pie was cold * Caesar salad had old lettuce * Corned Beef was fatty. * Hostess was less than friendly * Bathrooms were dark and dirty * Table top was sticky Seriously, it is clear the management of this establishment is lazy. The place is just a hot mess. So many other choices up and down Haggerty Rd. to choose from where they pay attention to the details. Someone better get their act together, wait after reading all of the bad reviews clearly no one is going to do that.

Went to Claddagh's for the Open Mike night on Tuesday evening. That part of the evening was good; they had good sound eqpt and it seemed to be well organized and run by John. Although friendly, our waitress was one of the most inattentive I've ever experienced. She seemed to disappear for long periods of time and rarely brought us anything we asked for unless we asked twice. After mentioning that one person's food had not been served, after he waited close to 30 mins, we asked her and nothing! After 45 mins, I went looking for her and found her chatting in the kitchen with other employees. She admitted she put the order in "late"... I think it was right then. She did, thankfully, not charge for this dinner. A manager never appeared all evening, that place is definitely in need of some managerial attention. The beef stew was good, but not served when hot. The layout for Open Mike night is not good, since the tables available are right in front of the front door, which open frequently and it was very cold every time they opened.

I was a little hesitant to stop in here given some of the negative reviews that had already been posted. Despite this, I really wound up liking the place. The service was great (I sat at the bar) and the Jameson burger tasted excellent!

We invited friends to hear Irish Music at this Irish pub and that part of the experience was delightful. I had made reservations earlier in the week- a plus that they take reservations- and I had asked what time would be good to hear the music and what table should we have. We were told 7pm and we would get a sit in front close to the band. We arrived at 6:45, and were seated around 7pm in a spot that wasn't great for hearing the music. The table was also not well lit and there was no way to read the menu so each of us took our cell phones out to order. We asked our waitress a minimum of three times to light the candle and she never did. Our drink order was taken promptly, and then we waited and waited. Our dinner orders were eventually taken. Our salads came out first and they were cold and crispy. Next came three of the four entrees. The deliverer didn't mention going back for my husband's order. We just assumed he knew so again we waited and waited. Finally we flagged our waitress down and she was like oh yeah he ordered the fish and chips right? So we waited some more and eventually the fish and chips arrived. My husband likes lemon on his fish. He asked twice and it never arrived! All the food was great! I had the corned beef which was delicious. Each couple did separate checks. The amount was wrong on one bill and an item was on our bill that should have been on their bill. It was still a fun evening but the service was poor. The manager came over at the end of the night and asked how it was and we told him. He apologized and got us a complimentary dessert card which was very nice. This is not our first time dining here and we also had our daughter's baby shower here. The service for the shower was fantastic!! Tonight not so much.

First time at CLADDAGH IRISH PUB. Nice view from outside the pub with a FIRE in front of the pub for atmosphere .Went into the pub and was seated right away . Had very good service . Waitress was ready for my drink order as soon as I sat down. Shortly after my drink arrived I order my meal . Order something simple cheeseburger with potato wedges . Notice inside had a wine cellar / castle type atmosphere with more fire places and stone walls with large wooden tables and chairs. This place was also very clean in the pub and in the restroom .They also had several large flat screen tv's for sports fans . My food was delivered in a reasonable amount of time and tasted as good as it looked . Wish I had room for desert with Apple pie and cheese cake on the menu . Thought the food /service and the price were a 5 out of 5 stars!!!

Not sure if they have had new management take over in the past couple years or what, but this place is not as good as it used to be. This used to be one of my favorite restaurants, however the quality has gone down hill in recent years... It has some good menu items, and the ambiance is pretty cool. Nothing is really stand out anymore. They used to have a really great spinach salad, however the past couple times I ordered it just simply wasn't as good.

In town dealing at a convention, and we decided to try the Pub for dinner Saturday night. Building is absolutely gorgeous and the ambiance was lovely- lots of props around the restaurant but not overly tacky like an applebees. We were seated right away, as the place was empty, but we were taken to a small, cold corner behind the tv that didn't have chairs. Our hostess also didn't count menus, was we received 3 for a party of 5, and our server didn't bother to ask if we needed additional menus. I ordered the corned beef rolls and the Dublin coddle. The coddle left something to be desired, the broth didn't have much flavor and there just weren't enough veggies! But the corned beef rolls, the rolls were life changing. I'm stopping at the toledo location to try the lunch corned beef, I enjoyed it so much! Service was poor. For being so empty, we almost never saw our server. He was inattentive with drinks and check, which was a disappointment.

I was a little hesitant to stop because of some of the reviews, but I am glad we did. Meg was our server and she was excellent. She brought extra sauce before we even asked. I had the corned beef and cabbage roll and hubbie had Scotch eggs for appitizers. Both were very good. For our entrees hubbie had fish and chip and I had the chicken and leeks. Excellent. Would definitely return.

Oh, what has happened to this place? The last time we were here, we had good food, awesome service and wonderful atmosphere. We stopped by on a Saturday around 5pm and the place was dead. We sat out on the patio and my husband ordered a beer and I asked for the Whisky list. When the list arrived it looked like someone got Sharpie happy on the list. There were a number of options crossed out and then something written on them. Really?!? If you have that many not available reprint the list. This got me looking around and it looked like someone just gave up and didn't think it was important to keep up the place. So sad, this place used to be clean and well kept. The server checked back with us frequently, almost too frequently. My husband tried to give her a break by explaining to me that they were dead and she didn't have anything else to do. So anyway, I ordered a whisky and an appetizer and hoped for the best. My drink arrived and it seemed a little off in taste, but I will admit that could have been me since I hadn't had that whisky in a long time. The appetizer arrived and it didn't look like what we had in the past. Two bites in and I was done. I'm not sure if the fryer wasn't up to temp or it wasn't cooked long enough or what the issue, but yuck. So we were ready to go, yet now we couldn't find the server. A bit of a wait and we were finally out of there. This saddens me, we loved this place in the past. Who gave up on it?

Wait Wait Wait. That should be the topic of this place. Waited 20 minutes to be seated and it wasn't even a busy day for them. I have nothing really positive to say except the restroom was nice. The food was okay. Our drinks weren't out that fast, we waited 15-20 minutes for that. Then when we ordered our food, it took an hour before we got out food. Our waiter never checked on us to inform us during that 1 hour. No refills on our water until we received our food. It was just a horrible experience.

The good (not much)..... the bad (boo) and the ugly (did that REALLY just happen)? My aunt sent a text because just welcomed her first bouncy baby grandchild into the world just the VERY early morning!!! My parents were also in town, so it seemed like a perfect time to get together and celebrate!!! We all arrived at 5pm and quickly got a table for six. That was the only thing that was quick the WHOLE NIGHT. We were catching up, pictures, talking and after about 26 minutes she called out to a waitress to see if we could order drinks (how could we celebrate without an ice cold draft beer?!). Everyone knew what they wanted to drink but I did ask a question about the Tennetts Euro Lager. When I lived in Scotland, I used to drink it all the time (dont worry about that part mom and dad) but wasnt sure it was something new or the same delicious nectar of the Gods that has been served for hundreds of years...so, I asked. Generally, there should be some level of knowledge of beer but not this time. All I got from her was "I dont know, but most people dont like it," alright, so I knew that this was not going to be very fruitful. I was browsing the menu and my husband asked if I could grab a taste of the Tennents. She seemed clearly annoyed by the request. As she brought out our drinks (almost 45 minutes after we arrived), I asked for a Smithwick's just to keep things simple- although I did like the other beer. So, I ordered right away. As she turned, I moved my arms and knocked my drink napkins off the table. No need to worry, she picked it up and put it right back from the floor on my table. Gross. The beer seemed to be a little flat- all around the table.... after taking over 45 minutes to get a drink... in an irish "pub." Everyone was getting a little hungry and we tried to flag down the waitress. What a disaster.... that took another 30 minutes. We all ordered the special BOGO fish and chips. The food was REALLY good but it took another 20 minutes to get it. We were all really annoyed. And this is when I finally became impressed with this place. After all of this, the manager stopped by our table. Usually, I do not say anything about the service being bad but if the service is good, then I do tell them. My table mates did in fact inform them about the terrible service but good food. They did apologize profusely (and genuinely), comped part of the meal and then offered us a gift certificate again. I was very impressed with the attempt to make it right. It did. I will definitely go back there to try them out again..... if they had not done this rectification, I would not have ever been back again. Managers- Thank you for making this right for us. We were very impressed with making it right. We will be back.

The fish and chips are good but not the best I've had. The coleslaw had almost no flavor. The potatoes are good. Our waitress was good, attentive. The restaurant itself is dark. There is very low lighting. Decent size menu.

The place looked incredibly beautiful from the outside. The outdoor patio seating areas were beautifully decorated with planters and a fire pit. Walked in and the reception was encouraging, the decor was truly Irish and the waitress was the sweetest. Ordered the calamari appetizer for starters... total disappointment... It was like shoe string calamari, all breading and no meat. Then ordered the traditional irish corned beef and cabbage... again total disappointment. Got three fatty slices of chewy corned, under cooked carrots, red skin potatoes and cabbage. All the veggies lacked that pickling spice... and tasted like they were just boiled in plain water. The corned beef lacked all the pickling spices that make corned beef taste so good. I couldn't taste the slightest hint of garlic, peppercorn or dill weed. I added so much pepper to give it some kind of taste... but it was hopeless Oh.... almost forgot about the mustard sauce that came with it... Mustard? Where? It was a joke and insult to Irish food. They need to seriously fire the cook and hire someone that's knows Irish food. I gave them 2 stars for the deco, the friendly staff Nd the br I don't plan on ever returning nor would I recommend this place to anyone.

The atmosphere is good and the service was actually excellent. I had the fish and chips. They were pretty good. Over all a good experience. A little over priced for what you get and I didn't particularly enjoy their menu. There weren't too many even semi-healthy options.

I had been wanting to try this place for a while (though I was leary of the mixed Yelp reviews) and met a friend for dinner on a Thursday evening. I had the fish and chips, which were pretty good and my friend had the salmon with veggies. She said that the veggies weren't very good, it was a mix of corn, carrots and peas (or maybe beans?) they seemed to be frozen and not quite cooked enough. Once our waitress brought our drinks and food, she checked back maybe once to see if our food was ok, but didn't ask for more drinks until we were pretty much ready to go and then all we wanted was the bill at that point. I wasn't impressed enough to come back here. If someone suggested it and really wanted to go, I'd give it another shot, but I won't actively try to come back.

The Good: claddagh is always a great place to catch a game or have a beer. They have a large selection of beers and ciders. The menus are seasonal so the meals change (if your into that type of thing) the fish and chips is always a great standby if you can't make up your mind. The have a lot of specials for kids on certain nights. Free WiFi The Bad: the place can get really loud, so loud in fact that you can barely hear anything. The seasonal menu... I'm not a fan of a menu changing constantly when I finally find something I like. Some of the rooms on the south side of the dining room can get pretty cold.

I went for a yelp event some time back and was pretty impressed and wanted to get around to visiting and writing a review. I decided to return New Year's Day because many stand alone restaurants were closed except your typical franchise restaurants. I chose this restaurant because of the beer selections and wanted to please one of my friends that is a beer nut. We arrived and that is when the madness started. First, I will list all the beers they were out of : Warsteiner Premium Verum Lager,Warsteiner Seasonal, Killian's Irish Red, Boddingtons Pub Ale,Left Hand Brewing Milk Stout Nitro,Goose Island Matilda Pale Ale, Bell's Rotating. This is not an exaggeration there were maybe four beers available out of there 20 beers listed. The server seemed agitated because we ask her to repeat the order because there were so many beers out. Maybe I should have asked what: "what do you have." She should have understood that being out of that many beers is not normal and been more understanding because we would have been a good table. There were no hostess at the front and waited some time to be addressed. I saw many of the employees laughing and hanging in the back along with the managers or people that were dressed that way. They brought a pool table in through the front doors which filled the restaurant with cold air. This should have been done after hours instead of during operation hours. I just found this place lacking in detail and found a since of laziness from the entire staff. The website was not updated and found mistakes there which is unfair to the patron. I know it was a holiday but we would have been an excellent table for the server and the restaurant. We cancelled the bottle of wine and abandon ship and decided to patronize Mitchell's next door. We ended spending a lot of money to bad it wasn't deposited at Claddagh Irish Pub but they have few reasons why.

This food makes me want to travel to Ireland for a trial comparison. It's so good. I like their take on bangers and mash (The Dublin Coddle). I tried the fish and chips and it's some of the best in the area.

4 years ago I truly enjoyed watching the World Cup here. Very empty, food tasty, good beer, attentive service. Well those days are gone! The host maybe was still sleepy at 11:55 am, or maybe just didn't read the job description. Doesn't talk, doesn't LISTEN, just likes to strike a pose and fix his long hair. What about giving a menu to the people you seat? Got my beverage fast but 25 minutes before I could get a food order in. Experince tells me that waitstaff isn't usually attentive to single females (maybe single males get the same treatment but I can't try that). Did someone forget to add taste to the food? Had the fish sandwich. Too much bread, apparently are using Bud for the beer batter, coleslaw comes in a large thimble. Forced to use tartar sauce just to alert my tastebuds to food in my mouth. The Bass on tap was good; should be at $6 a glass. Considering all this I even enjoyed the German fans demonstrating aspects of sports tribalism, very minimally. Univision is streaming the games online for free. Think I'll stay home until forced to go out or make friends with someone who has cable for the playoff rounds.

Atmosphere is nice, beer is good, food is dreadful. I tried the stew. It was dry to the point of being dusty and completely without taste. It was actually so bad I sent it back. The appetizers were okay - though also a bit bland. This place may be good for a beer and to hang out but try the food at your own peril.

We were there for the Monday BOGO fish & chips dinner. VERY good service and food. Ambience was excellent, sort of trendy old world. Can be loud aka European pub atmosphere but what the heck. I enjoyed the meal and the ambience. I will say that without the BOGO the prices can be on the high side.

Pretty good bar with some interesting drinks (no blender though), good food and appetizers. We had our wedding reception there last year. It was for the most part very good but they messed up quite a few important things (like cake service) and there was a major communication breakdown from the manager on the day of the event (that manager is no longer there). And ever since the summer 2014 it has gone down hill. We were there in New Year's Eve 2014 and it was quiet, slow servers, rude hostesses, and bad drinks so we left pretty quickly. Overall though, good if you don't mind waiting for stuff. Burgers are good, corned beef and cabbage rolls appetizer is good, and their spinach artichoke dip is to die for. Nice patio with a fire pit and a couple separate rooms for events or large groups (one room with 10 seats, one with like 20-30, and another that they make shift close off for like 40-60). Both larger private rooms have their own fireplaces. But warning: it's like you are in a cave. The whole restaurant is pretty dark, my photographer kind of struggled with photos...hope you enjoy...

After the fine treatment that we got from the Yelp event, I was more than happy to take my $15 gift card and free appetizer coupon to Claddagh with my parents and beau. Even though there was a beer advertisement over the painting of St. Patrick, we had enjoyed ourselves well. We got the corned beef and cabbage egg roll appetizer, and it was delicious. I was thoroughly impressed with it. It was different and tasty. My mother, who never ends up finishing any meals, ate her soup, appetizer, and finished her whole entree. We all loved our meals. I got the sirloin steak, with mac and cheese and they were both delicious. My steak was a little undercooked for my liking, but it was really really good. The service was good, too. Nothing in your face and none of us were looking around for the waiter. It was perfect for what we wanted. I was happy with everything and I hope to go again.

Came here for a dinner party. There was a full on irish band sitting and playing when we entered, that was pretty cool. I don't think this place is made for big groups. The room we were in, the layout was terrible for conversing. Just a dim lit room. Then there was the food. The menu is very promising, but we got the Jameson burgers, and they were not very good. Very standard, nothing special, no wow factor. The fries were kind of soggy too. The fun part was you can pay $.75 for some dipping sauces and the sour cream one was good. For a $50 meal it was not up to par. Will not come back, unless they work on the quality.

This place has definitely gone downhill. While the atmosphere is amazing, probably one of the neatest looking restaurants I've ever seen, and they have a great beer selection, they recently changed their kitchen staff and their food took a turn for the worse. I've been a few times in the last few months, and each time I've been underwhelmed. I ordered a pasta dish that was on the bland side, and I literally had to return the veggie burger to the kitchen because it tasted so horrible (and I am NOT one to turn food away!). One time we ordered the fried pickles for an appetizer, and my sister took one bite and it was COLD. Not room temperature, mind you, but actually cold. I touched it. We made the waitress touch it (haha). It clearly hadn't defrosted all the way. And some of its pickle friends were cold too. And that same night, our food took 45 minutes to come out. However, the manager did come out to apologize and gave us a free dessert and free tea, which was nice considering we never even complained about the wait and we were totally friendly and joking about the cold pickles. After 3 consecutive bad experiences, I'm very sad to say I won't be going here anymore. I used to go to Claddagh all the time and I'm bummed about it.

An Irish pub that actually has Irish music playing?? What a concept! Met some friends there sunday night and had an absolutely delightful time. Everyone was in a festive mood which might have been due to the irish fundraiser going on. I saw old friends, made new friends and heard Irish music. It does not get any better than that. I ordered a Boddington Pub Ale that I had never heard of, and it hit the spot. I could drink alot of that if I let myself. Had some Irish bangers that were tiny but good tasting, and some killer bacon mac and cheese. If it had not been for the mustard bottle that would not squeeze because of the dried up mustard on the nozzle, this would have been 5 stars. I might make this place my new headquarters.

Claddagh Irish Pub is one of those places I should have reviewed a long time ago. It's right around the corner from my house and Hubby and I visit not infrequently. Let me start by saying that it was in Claddagh that I had the best single thing I've ever eaten: salmon boxty. Smoked salmon with some sort of spicy mayo, served in a delicate Irish-style potato pancake. Four years later, it still makes my mouth water (unfortunately, it's only on the menu as a special, and I hear it's been a while). Boxty aside, Claddagh's dishes are reliably tasty and service is reliably friendly, if sometimes spotty efficiency-wise. Hubby and I have tried and enjoyed everything from the fish and chips (crispy), to the bacon and cabbage (smoky & creamy), to the chicken curry and fries (authentically Irish tasting). The atmosphere is a fun, American take on Celtic; the full bar has a nice selection of beer on-tap and in bottles, as well as a good selection of wine, and the price is moderate. Word to the wise: stick to the Irish fare for the best tasting food.

Try the bangers and mash. They were amazing! Whether you are Irish, like me, or just looking for some traditional Irish/English food coupled with a great beer list and awesome staff then this could be your place. I highly suggest it and will be returning back again.

decided to check this place out for lunch and may I say, I was sorely disappointed. The decor in my opinion, though seeming a bit confused in some aspects--was otherwise wonderful. If I were to judge a restaurant by it's cover...so to speak, I would've expected quite the delightful meal. I ordered the stuffed chicken, and when I got it, I saw so much potential. The skin has a nice crisp to it but not overly crunchy. My problem with the dish was that the chicken was dry and way over cooked. Ultimately, the problem seems to be in technique. The flavor seemed to be JUST lacking, had they taken the chicken out 3 minutes sooner, it would not be as if I were eating a brick. My request is that they work on quality control for their food please... I don't really think it's that much to ask for. Especially when there weren't too many patrons there--there's no excuse for poorly prepared food.

Went last night, just 3 of us. Hostess said there was a wait, about 20 minutes, but in all actuality it was about 10. We where sat at a round table right by the door, which was cold (due to gale force winds that evening). Asked to move and our server was really cool about it, hooked us up with a new table and all was well. Food- Corn beef egg rolls... Pretty tasty. I had clam chowder (real good, just thick enough, and the bread that comes with it was good) and the Goat Cheese Salad. the salad was good. really good. Friends had Fish & Chips (also said it was great) and Gaelic Alfredo- that was uh okay. Service was good, not overbearing. Bar/ Restaurant service areas where sort've trashed (noticed on the way to restroom) but, it was 9pm on a Saturday. I'm assuming they'd been slammed for hours... and where catching up. The one man jam was good, no Irish Music, but thats okay. :) I'd definately go back and soon.

Love Irish beer and cozy Irish pubs, but not particularly crazy about Irish food? Maybe that's just me, but many Irish establishments leave little to be desired in the food department. Thankfully, I think Claddagh has up'd their game and provided menu options for those of us who don't want bangers 'n mash or shepherds pie for every meal. That probably makes this less than authentic Irish food, but if it tastes good, works for me. A couple of highlights: Great place for a group. They have some nice rooms that you can reserve for smaller parties that give you some space for you and your friends without feeling like you're sequestered somewhere in a dark corner. Sangria. Yep, you read right. Sangria. They make it fresh and it's delightful! Atwater Dirty Blonde on draft. (at least that's as highlight for me!) Tomato Mozzerella salad, Baked goat cheese and braised short rib. The menu is seasonal, but those are some of my favorites. If you have stayed away because you typically think Irish pubs are only for drinking, I'd suggest giving Claddagh another look.

I haven't found an Irish restaurant yet that I'm a big fan of. We enjoyed waiting for our table at the bar. The bartender was friendly and prompt. Once we were shown to our table, I had the fish and chips (not that I'd think of them as 'Irish') and enjoyed them. My favorite part of the meal was my creme brule for dessert. YUM!! If I go back, this will be what I'm after.

i give this place three stars, mostly for the friendly service. my boyfriend and i had a groupon so i figured we might as well give it a try considering we had been pondering the idea for a while. we were seated quickly, and the first thing i noticed upon seating was that the restaurant was very dimly lit. i do not recommend this place for any kind of business meeting whatsoever. my boyfriend ended up having to use the light from one of the lamps just to read the menu. we ordered the spinach and artichoke dip as an appetizer. it was good, wasn't as hot as it could have been but there was a ton of cheese on top. the bread really didn't seem that fresh, it was room temperate so that is another thing that could have been improved. for entrees, i ordered the jameson burger and my boyfriend ordered the ribs. however, about ten minutes after ordering the waitress came to tell us that they were out of ribs. she recommended the dublin chicken to him, and he agreed to go with it. bad decision! the dublin chicken had absolutely no flavor. i tasted it and it reminded me of those bagged garlic chicken meals you can buy in the frozen section. i quickly wanted to get the horrible taste out of my mouth. my burger was delicious however, and it was served with plenty of pub chips. the burger was topped with cripsy onion strings, a jameson barbeque sauce, and it originally comes with cheese sauce. (i opted for american cheese instead). when we got our bill the waitress did not take off the ribs (so we ended up being charged for 3 entrees). that was not a big deal but we had to find her to fix it. she apologized and got us a new bill. so all in all, our experience was just ok. we probably would not go back unless we just wanted to go for the burger since we both enjoyed it. and by the way, the meals are way over priced for what you receive!

Mediocre at best. Atmosphere is, of course, Irish pub, castle-like, but does the music have to so loud you can barely talk? Wait staff..aloof and simply performing their duty. Yes, I will seat you and hand you menus. Yes, I will take your order and yes, everything on the menu is good. We had the corned beef and cabbage appetizer...totally flavorless, even though it was fried like an egg roll. Clam chowder was very good, with a lot of clams, potatoes, carrots onions and corn. Hubby had the fish sandwich, which comes with fries and cole slaw. Having had "chips" in England, thought these would be good...not. Give me 5 guys any day over these. The fish was soggy, the cole slaw bland. I had the mussel appetizer as a main course. Good...how can you mess them up. But if you are a garlic butter fan, these come in a soup-like broth, complete with celery, carrots, onions...yay two soups in one meal! Now, I know why we haven't been back in several years.

My husband and I went here for Valentine's Day. We had reservations and were placed in a quiet room with only one other couple at the opposite end of the room. The food was wonderful, but more importantly, the service was OUTSTANDING! Hands down, the best service I've had in a long time!

I had been tip-toeing around this bar\restaurant for the last year+. I had never heard anything bad but for some reason had never make it a priority to go. Meet some friends for happy hour ans was pleasantly surprised. It is a large building but split up nicely to give a bar area and a more quiet dinning area. We Sat in the bar area and didn't feel like we were annoying people out for a nice dinner. They have a large beer selection (although they were out of Dirty Blonde Ale) that is enough for most sophisticated beer drinkers. About 8pm they had an Irish band come in and play your typical Irish music at a level that we were still able to talk without yelling. This gave the bar area a great feel and made me want to have my St.Pattys day gear on. We did not eat there but have heard good things about the food. Menu is mostly Irish food but they do have some typical bar food. Overall I would say they did a nice job giving this place an authentic Irish feel but keeping it classy. Well done! I have read some bad reviews about service but we did not experience that at ll.

After frequenting Irish pubs where bar owners import decor and even the wood from Ireland (so I've heard), i.e. Dic O Dows of Birmingham, Sean O' Calahans of Plymouth, Connor O' Neils of Ann Arbor, Gus O' Connors of Novi, and even Bailey Corcaigh, I think it's safe to state The Claddagh is weak on the authenticity meter. My grade may be a bit harsh on the rating scale, but considering the places listed above not to mention the upscale Irish pubs I didn't name, Claddagh is a waste of time, money and room in the stomach. I would only recommend going there if the Haggerty chain restaurant corridor is conveniently located for you or your people. The service is good, ambiance clean and alcohol selection solid (plus according to Rob F, they offer flights of Whiskey), however the other Irish Pub options are much more rewarding. Plus, I don't see them bringing in a band covering Motown hits and a dj putting on 50 Cent and 2Pac on St. Patties day (That was the straw for me). And, yes The Claddagh is also a chain like its neighbors Bahama Breeze, J Alexanders, P.F. Changs so the wood most certainly is not imported. Not that I'm a wood afficionado, but I do believe that type of extraordinary effort to improve authenticity reveals the type of spirit and pride behind an establishment... Something a cost-cutting chain restaurant most certainly can't possibly emulate.

Very Nice!! Enjoyed several delicious munchies here! Will be back again! The atmosphere was good and enjoyable! Tasty treats! I have to say my favorite is between the stuffed mushrooms and the spinach & artichoke dip (way good!). Looking forward to coming to back to try the chicken spinach melt sandwich! This sandwich is a grilled chicken breast with the very yummy spinach & artichoke dip on sourdough bread!! I really actually would love to have it, right NOW!!! Will be back! Food was yummy and the staff was, very nice! Cool place to hang out after dinner and try some yummy desert's!

I've been a few times, and while never been blown away, it has never disappointed either. Our appetizer, the pots of gold are just your average potato skins, but not bad. Beer selections are good, plus they have cider! The fish and chips are very good, and huge! Plus Monday nights they are BOGO. I most recently went on a Friday during lent, so fish & chips was my choice, but they are also offering a whole seafood menu for a limited time. I would definitely go back and try some other items. The kids were quite happy with their meals, youngest had the grilled cheese, oldest had the kid's fish & chips - he's my big eater and wasn't able to finish his dinner either! Dessert is required simply because they have the Galway Hooker. Hee hee it sounds dirty! But in reality it is a fabulous dessert with a flourless chocolate cake, whipped cream and a white chocolate creme brulee - as sinful as the name!!!

AVOID THIS DAMN PLACE!!!! We checked out this place not because of the meager 3 star rating but because we had a COUPON. I really would like my $$ back!!! We ordered a couple beers (4 in total) cost = $20. We started out with the Claddagh wings, BIG MISTAKE, unless you enjoy flavorless skin. This place wasn't edible... it was gross. I had a pressed chicken sandwich that tasted worse than a school chicken patty. The Jameson sauce tasted like bad chinese food brown sauce. NASTY!!!!!!!!!!!!

I absolutely love their fish and chips! The BBQ chicken boxty is really good too. The service is great and it's a fun atmosphere. Some of the tables are set back into little corners/cubbies for a more private/personal feel. It can get busy on the weekends so you may want to call to make a reservation beforehand.

Great food, great drinks, and great deserts. Friendly staff. My wife love's their fish and chips, and I'm a big fan of the BBQ meatloaf sandwich (sounds gross, but it's really good). On the downside, it's artery clogging and rather pricey.

One of the better Irish Pubs around. The atmosphere is tops and the food is good (not great). Mostly, though, you go to a pub to have drinks and this is where they excel. They offer flights of irish whiskeys, english cider on tap, and a 360 degree bar with knowledgeable and friendly bartenders. When I want a little of the old world in my belly, this is where I go.

Service is good, Beer is Great, Food is YUCK!! How do you review a place when everything else is good besides the food. Well the food I had ruined everything. We Started out with the Calamari. Poorly battered chewy squid with the batter falling off. The flavor was good, but texture was eck. I was also disappointed in the marinara dipping sauce. Way to chunky to dip into causing the breaded squid to fall apart. I ordered the Bacon Cheese Tart-let for that Irish flare. Although, I was told the fish and chips are well known there, I wanted to venture out. A restaurant shouldn't hide behind one dish. The tart-let arrived promptly and looked good, but tasted very BLAND.. The cook or Chef clearly has no palette, lacks on seasoning, and basic skills because my partner ordered the shrimp risotto. I don't know how they do it in Ireland, but this tasted like something out of a minute rice package that had milk added to it, boiled down, cooled and then reheated. That's it, no flavor at all, but the frozen boiled peas. The grilled shrimp was yummy though. I had a good beer buzz and was STARVING. You would think I would like anything at this point.. To my amazement, this killed my buzz In the end, I have to rate this place a 3 outta five stars. I can get booze anywhere and there are plenty of places to find a decent selection of foreign and micro brews. Yes the ambiance is nice, but im not here to rate a bar, I'm here to rate food and there food can't hide behind one dish, fish and chips. If it was only a bar, than we can understand but when you have sections and tables and try to cross over to being a gastro-pub, they failed, and failed bad.. I may be back for a drink, but that's it...

Had lunch at claddaugh today. I had the ribs which were amazing but it was very crowded around 2:30 and very loud. The service was pretty slow had to keep looking for the waitress, after she brought boxes she never brought the bill. When she came back she greeted us as though she had never seen us before. Also disturbed me that people were letting their kids run around unsupervised. I'd go back but not in a hurry!

I was here last night around 7pm for dinner. Had the loaded pub fries, which are potato cut wedges with a yellow cheese sauce, tomato, bacon, and scallion, with some horseradish (very light) to dip in. They're good hot, so eat them quick. One person could eat them for a meal so they're better for sharing. Dinner was the corned beef and cabbage, and the amount was quite large. 5 large slices and 1 smaller one, a full half head of cabbage, 4 red potatos, and some small peeled carrots. The carrots were woefully underdone, and the corned beef was not as good as I remembered it from last year. It's definitely not brined. My guess is they either just throw a brick in some broth to heat it, or slice it and broth it a bit. It wasn't bad, but I've certainly had much better. The cabbage was soft enough to cut through with a butter knife, but still had good texture and tasted good. One thing though, no hot mustard. They had a bland dijon, but I'm always more for Coleman's. The 2 girls behind the bar were friendly and prompt with service, they pour a good Guinness, and the atmosphere overall was pleasant with some Irish tunes wafting in the background just enough to hear and not overpower your conversation. They also have free wireless which is always a plus.

Erin go bragh! I had the fish and chips with clam chowder. I washed it down with some Smithwick's. It was delicious but a bit pricey. I was stuffed nonetheless and had to take some dinner home. It was pretty loud (crowded) but I think I would prefer a traditional Irish pub with a nice atmosphere.

I went to the Claddagh Irish Pub today with my next door neighbor. Mondays are 2 for 1 fish and chips day and it was his turn to treat me. We ordered the fish and my neighbor asked the waiter for extra lemon for his fish. When our order finally arrived the waiter forgot the lemon and was asked by me a 2nd time. 10+ more minutes past and no site of either our waiter or the lemon. Richard only uses lemon on his fish (no tartar sauce) so he needed to wait this extra time while his fish is getting cold......Grrrrrr....I pulled over a different waiter and asked him if he had any idea where "our" waiter might be? The 2nd waiter found "our" waiter and sent him over. I asked him for lemon a 3rd time before he finally brought some out about 5 more minutes later. When we finally finished our meals....I needed two take out boxes for leftovers. Guess what? .......our waiter was no where to be found and I had to ask a 2nd waiter once again for carry out boxes. We were pissed off and both complained to the manager on staff. This restaurant was not even busy as we got there at 4:00pm and left just after 5:00pm. The manager apologized for the terrible service. BIG DEAL......We will not be back and left NO TIP for the waiter.

My partner, his elderly grandmother and I went here yesterday for dinner. They were more or less empty at this point (5pm-ish) so we encountered none of the dreaded wait about which other reviewers have complained. Though it was a bit dark inside, I appreciated the attention to detail in decor, and they were accommodating in sitting us near a window so we could have some sunlight as well; servers were polite, prompt and deferential to the fact that we had a grandmother in our party. Food: The Loaded Pub chips were good, but probably not worth ten bucks; the (horseradish flavored?) sour cream they came with was great, though. I had the Dublin chicken, which was tasty, but the mashed potatoes and spinach on the side were absolutely delicious. My partner's grandmother enjoyed her fish & chips, and he had the Gaelic Alfredo which was not bad, but again, I felt it was a bit overpriced. It was also very heavy. I was impressed, though, with the variety of the menu - for an Irish pub, it was surprisingly tasteful and the quality of the food in general was a step up from other pubs I've visited. After the meal, the manager came over to thank us for coming in (I assume because it was our first time) and gave us a complimentary pot of tea and plate of cookies - both delicious, and the perfect counterpart to the heavy meal. All said it was a very pleasant dining experience - would definitely eat here again and, in fact, was a bit tempted by the special they have running for St. Patrick's day ($35 for a prix fixe dinner and beer with every course) before I reminded myself just how lively it is likely to get.

This place is okay. I first learned of the restaurants menu items at the Taste of Plymouth sample event (which is held yearly in conjunction with Plymouth Fall Festival). The female chef was present greeting te people sampling her food, and one sampling stood out for me a lot. It was some sort of delicious creation with sauerkraut and meat. Unfortunately when we visited the restaurant a few days later, we were told this dish was a seasonal item and not yet on the menu (?what..?). Hubby opted for the fish and chips instead (which was pretty alright), and I ordered a large Irish breakfast. This place actually serves black and white pudding, which made my European heart sing with joy. I think they prepare these delicious items in-house which was definitely a plus for me. Other than these traditional items, the rest of the establishment reminded me of an American bar trying too hard to be Irish - strange, I know. This is a large, stand alone building and perhaps due to its size lacks some of the coziness that comes with a great Irish pub atmosphere.

This is a really cool place to hang out, especially during the USA soccer games. They have lots of drinks to choose from, however it can be a bit pricey. I haven't tried the food yet, but it looks good and there are several great sounding appetizers. The layout of the place is also pretty cool, it's definitely on my radar for future parties and get-togethers. I have to go back to cash in my $4 off an Irish Coffee for checking in ;D It's like they know me.

Two stars may be generous. Food was average. Service was barely average. At 6 pm they dimmed the lights so low I mentioned it was very dark for 6pm. The bartender said something about atmosphere. I travel for work and this place is not worth another visit. The woodwork in the bar is nice.

I don't know why these guys have a low review. The only thing I can think of is the wait. Got our food very late but it was fresh. Invest in a few more people and you'll get more clients to make up for the extra cost. Soups and sandwiches very delicious. Love their ranch fries and dipping sauce. Not good for a quick 1/2 hour lunch though but nice and friendly and especially delicious!

We went here for my birthday. I love fish and chips. The fish was good, although not a large portion. I'm not someone who ever sends things back, but the tomato soup and the kids pizza were so gross that we had to. Other food was edible, but nothing worth mentioning. The waitress was understanding about the food, but other than that the service was horrible. They never even refilled our water. I can understand that you shouldn't order anything other than fish and chips and other traditional irish food at an irish restaurant, but usually pizza and mac and cheese on kids menus are safe - not here. The kids pizza was like a stale bagel with a piece of cheese on it - my 4 year old couldn't even bite it. Something that bad shouldn't even be on the menu. They did have some good local beers on draft, which was nice, but not enough to off-set the horrible food and horrible service. I certainly will never be back.

Cla-whagh? Yuck. Had the Baked mac and cheese w/ chicken. The chicken was good. Macaroni and cheese was gross. Reminded me of something that you would buy out of a freezer. The Yuengling battered shrimp however, was amazing. My long island was weak, and they were out of a lot of beers. Service was also bad. We told the hostess we had a part of 10 - 12. She seated us in a small room with seating for 8. Our waitress had to move us to another area. What followed was a group of people picking up waters and appetizers traveling half way around a restaurant. If I come back it will only be for the shrimp.

I like the fakey Irish Claddagh alright. Definitely a restaurant and not a pub though. I have been here a few times as my parents like it. I don't mind it but I am never motivated to come on my own. My husband is definitely not a fan which is a big part of that I am sure. I used to like the corned beef and cabbage egg rolls served on a fun balsamic dressed salad until one time I got corned beef in them so fatty I nearly choked to death. No I am not exaggerating either. Now we stick to loaded pub chips if we need an app. They are tasty with bacon, tomatoes and scallions, cheddar ale sauce and seasoned sour cream. I like the salads in here, the vinaigrettes and the tarragon dijon dressings are happy. The Monaghan meatloaf melt on toasted sourdough with BBQ sauce, onion straws and swiss works too. Entrees are decent in here. My fave is the emerald isle chicken breast drizzled with basil oil and topped with fresh buffalo mozzarella. It is served with cherry tomatoes, sautéed spinach and mashed potatoes. Not what I would call Irish though. The fish and chips are huge and on Mondays you can buy one fish dinner and get one free. The shepherd's pie here has more taste than most, you still might want to smuggle in some HP sauce though. If you are looking for a treat, get the bread pudding, it's homemade with brioche bread, apples and raisins, finished with whiskey cream sauce and fresh Bailey's whipped cream. Truly yummy.

Was suggested to come here by the receptionist at the hotel i am staying at located a couple blocks down. Stood by the bar for almost 20 minutes and no bartender even looked at me. Waiters were pushing me out of the way. I am extremely disappointed. I ended up walking out. Makes me glad I'm leaving this town tomorrow..

The meal was great and our waiter was very good. He recommended the Corned Beef and Cabbage rolls which were pretty good. We had the BOGO Fish and Chips which is their special on Mondays and we were impressed with the portion size of the Cod Fillet especially since this was lunch. The Cod was very tasty, tender and juicy. A very good experience overall and I recommend Claddagh. Plus if you visit them on Yelp first you can get a coupon for $4.00 off their Irish Coffee bringing the cost to only $2.99. No I do not work for them I was just very impressed.

First up: The Guiness Onion Soup is among the tastiest things ever conceived... when done RIGHT. They don't always do it right. Two times I have had it, it was WAY over spiced. Fish and Chips are just fabulous. Crisp, and not soggy. Not cheap fast food chips, either. The whiskey Steak is also extremely good. Good food. Atmosphere is odd, though. I mean, it's like someone decided to do an Americanized version of what they imagined Ireland is like... I get treated real well here since I look like a giant Leprachaun. (Update - 9/9/13) They've changed the menu here. I'm not sure I'm a fan. the Guiness Onion Soup was NOT on the menu the last time I was here. I have to dock them a full star for this (from 4 to 3). On the other hand, their Bangers and Mash are pretty kick ass. I wish there were more "IRISH" menu items. I mean, they don't even serve Colcannon! (Update - 4/29/2014) They've now removed Bangers and Mash from the menu. The Guiness Onion Soup remains off the menu... it's slowly turning into NOT an Irish bar. The Jameson sauce has been supplanted by a supposed "Beer Cheese and Jameson" mix, that while tasty, didn't taste like it had beer cheese soup, but rather just a smear of cheez whiz. I'm worried about this place. If Yelp allowed me, the rating would be down to 2.5 stars... I'm sorry, but the way this place is changing makes me worry it's in dire straits and struggling...

I went to Claddagh today for the second time. This is the second time I have been disappointed. My step dad wanted to come here for his birthday, in fact the last time we came was for his birthday last year. First off the decor is slightly disjointed. Some of the tables look like they could have come right out of The Quiet Man and others look like they got a deal on some old barrels. The chairs are deliberately mismatched but not in a second hand passed down kind of way, more like the decorator couldn't make a decision on which ones to buy so they got a little of each. The only cool part of the decor was the stained glass/leaded glass windows. Hoping for some Irish music? Not here, it was the same kind of music they pump into the background at a mall. The first time we came here, we were ten minutes late meeting the rest of our party and it took us almost a half hour to track down ANY employee to find our waitress to even get a drink. This time we made sure we were on time so we could at least get something to hold us over until our food came out. We ordered the hummus appetizer (which I found odd that it was offered at this place) because all the other appetizers sounded completely unhealthy. The hummus was OK at best, I've had better hummus from Kroger. The toasted "chips" were hard as rocks and two of the people with us couldn't even eat them because they were so tough. I ordered the (forget the proper name) Corned Beef and coleslaw sandwich with fries -not bad but the coleslaw was too bland. My boyfriend ordered the Jameson Chicken Sandwich with the mac n cheese and coleslaw. He's a chef- so he could tell that his chicken patty was made up of some of the worst cuts of meat, the sauce was gross and the mac n cheese tasted like it had come right out of a box. My grandfather ordered the salmon dinner he's the kind of guy that as long as he didn't make it himself he will love it, and he just picked at it. My mom enjoyed her Irish Breakfast and my Stepdad had the fish and chips which he seemed to like. They have Bells Two Hearted on tap and then for dessert I had a Peppermint Chocolate martini which wasn't bad. I had the fish and chips the first time I went and they were okay but the whole place is overrated and too expensive for what you get. I would have rather gone down to the Gaelic League and gotten a nice Reuben and some beer. The only saving grace about this place is the drinks, everything else is just MEH.

Claddagh is a pretty solid chain of Irish (style) pubs. The restaurant is immaculate. I've never seen the place dirty. The weekends bring out a younger crowd of metro Detroit's suburbanites. Pretty mixed bag: recent college grads, young pro's, young parents, boomers. Service is hit or miss. I've never had any issues with larger groups, but don't expect attentive service from a waitstaff. The food is above-average for a bar/pub. Standard bar/pub fare. The bartenders are GREAT. I used to pick up take-out from here when I worked late. They were always willing to offer a free soft drink and a generous pour when I wanted a quick drink.

When I enter an Irish place, I secretly hope to see River Dancers. Since that will most likely never happen, I at the very least hope to hear Irish music, but that was not the case at the Claddagh. I took my 100% Irish grandma here hoping she'd love the place. I think we both walked away liking it for a change from Bob Evans and Steak & Shake (her other faves), but weren't in love per-say. She surprised me and ordered a Guinness. Why not? She's 89 years old and who cares if it's only noon? Some great Irish/British beers were on tap and pretty reasonably priced at $3.50 a piece. We ordered off the lunch menu, which was extremely reasonably priced at $5.50 for fish & chips, an Irish favorite. The fish was tops (yes, artery clogging, but that's how fried fish should be). The chips part - aka potato wedgey-like fries, not so much. The were flavorless and soggy. Regardless, really cool atmosphere...just stop with the Motown and play me some Danny Boy next time and perhaps you'll bump up a star.

Good but not great. More of an American pub with some Irish fare, but even the Irish fare is not what you would experience in Ireland. Although I was inside, they have a nice patio with an outdoor fireplace. While not living up to what I was looking for in an Irish pub, the food was perfectly good and reasonable priced. The prices for what you get could come down a little, but it's not a mismatch.

My fiance and I went to Claddagh for dinner, and ended up leaving without eating due to poor customer service by both server and management. The sign at the hostess stand read "Buy one get one free - Fish & Chips and/or Shrimp dinner (with purchase of two drinks)". I tried to order an Amstel Light after we sat down (it was on the beer menu) -- no go, they didn't have it. Not a biggie, I chose another beer (my fiance ordered a drink also). We ordered an appetizer, the fish and chips, and a shrimp dinner. The server took our order and left, my fiance commented about the lackluster personality of the server and we agreed he gave the impression he didn't want to be there, but we moved on. About 5-10 minutes after taking our dinner order, the server returned to tell us that they ran out of shrimp, so I'd have to pick something else. He didn't bring a menu with him. I asked him for a menu and he came back with one. I asked if we could still get the Buy One Get One (BOGO) offer. He said only if I got the Fish & Chips. I didn't want the Fish & Chips, so I asked to speak to his manager. The manager came after a few minutes and I explained the situation, he said that they had just run out of shrimp and he was on his way to remove the "and/or Shrimp dinner" from the sign posted out front. We had come in before the sign had been updated and thought it seemed fair to allow substitution of another meal in place of the shrimp dinner. The manager STILL maintained that we could only have the BOGO offer if we ordered two Fish & Chips. We told him we'd like the bill for our two drinks, he could cancel the food order. He said the drinks were on him (reason for giving two stars versus one on this review). I get the concept that they were offering only the Fish & Chips and Shrimp dinner for the BOGO offer, and once the Shrimp ran out, it was off the table (it was only about 6 PM when we were there so the fact that the shrimp ran out so early in the dinner hour seems like poor planning). I just thought that it would have been a simple way to make a customer happy who had arrived when the sign still said "and/or Shrimp dinner". It wasn't busy there, and the number of people that would apply to would have been low. Lost opportunity to provide good customer service at minimal cost. Based on this experience, it left a bad taste in our mouth (without even eating a bite!), we won't be going there again.

The food used to be ok, but it's declined in recent years. It's not horrible, but it's overpriced. They still have some good beers and single malt Scotches, though. It's also one of the few places that still has Strongbow on tap. The service has always been pretty good, too.

I usually love to go to Claddagh's and they generally provide excellent service and high quality food. Unfortunately Claddagh's weakness is consistency. I have been there many times and the service is either spot-on or a huge miss. When Claddagh's is having a good day dining in this restaurant will be an excellent experience. When they are having a bad day your food might be cold, under-seasoned, and the wait staff might ignore you.

For my sister-in law's birthday we had lunch here, We started by sharing the corned beef cabbage rolls appetizer and it was very good and enough for the four of us. I then ordered the Irish Breakfast and it was outstanding. Great bangers and eggs with some excellent Irish bacon. My wife had the Shepherds Pie and loved it. Sister-in law had the beef stew which looked terrific and finally my brother-in-law had the goat cheese salad. Everyone said it was a perfect brunch. Our server Emily did an outstanding job. Of course we will be back!!

My family and I had dinner here on a Thursday night. I made reservations through Open Table which was nice they offered this service. When we arrived at 6 pm the place was dead. There were only three other parties. Our service was good and the food arrives quickly. I shared the fish and chips and my other family members had the baked mac and cheese. Overall, we were not impressed. The fish and chips was greasy and the breading on the fish wasn't cooked long enough. I was impressed by the flavorful fries. They actually cooked them extra long as requested. The family members who ordered the mac and cheese didn't care for it too much. They commented that it taste better at their hometown location in Lansing, MI. A few hours after leaving I became sick from what I think might have been the fish as it was the only thing I ate that day but I cannot be certain. I might try this place again but would probably choose another nearby restaurant first.

I was in Livonia for the afternoon so I stopped by Claddagh with a friend for some food & drinks. They had plenty of outdoor seating which I'm a big fan of. Plus the AC was on inside so indoor seating was a little too chilly for my tastes. Our waiter Brian was AWESOME. He was very attentive and friendly. I had the veggie burger that came with potato wedges. I'm not a cheese person and there's a lot of cheese in their veggie burger so I didn't enjoy it that much but maybe cheese lovers would so I wont deduct any points for that. The wedges were good for bar food. I also had a Margarita that was pretty tasty. Overall I was satisfied with the place.

I've wanted to try this place out and I finally went this week. The decor is pretty neat, I've never been to Ireland so I can't say if it has an Irish feel to it but it definitely has an European feel to it. They have a pretty varied menu with some Irish style dishes. I was in a hurry and didn't feel like experimenting so I just went with their claddagh burger which comes with an egg. I ordered it medium but it came out as medium well. I liked the fact that they seem to use lean meat since it wasn't dripping with fat. I really like their seasonings although the fried egg didn't really add anything to it. The bun was really good. It came with big fries that were really good. I tried my wife's corned beef sandwich. The corned beef has great seasoning but was a little chewy. The service was ok, they weren't busy but I still had to wait to get a refill of my drink and ran out. Decent place, I will come back and try one of their signature dishes next time.

Where do I begin? I will start by saying this place isn't in my neighborhood, or even on my radar. I would have never gone to Livonia, Michigan to eat. It's too far, especially with kids and all. But, it was my brother's birthday and he has eaten here before so he picked it. It was a 40 minute drive. Ugh. I immediately regretted the decision to go when we walked in to some small old man wailing some mopey song with his acoustic guitar strumming. Immediately. I did open my mind, though. We were a large-ish party with a reservation so they set us up at a big round table with a lazy Susan. I thought it was kinda neat! We ordered within a few minutes. While I was waiting for my Guinness Onion Soup, I checked in on Yelp! I was surprised to see that I got a coupon for $4 off an $7 Irish Coffee drink for checking in! Cool! Next time I saw the waitress I showed it to her (as the coupon told me to do). The waitress said she would ask her manager. The soup arrived and it was delicious! We had also ordered some steak tip appetizer and I felt it was too spicy or peppery or something. I didn't like it much at all but my fiance really did like it. It's a matter of preference, I guess. Our food arrived before I was finished with my soup. Based on other reviews I was sure it would take longer. I was pleasantly surprised with that. I had ordered chicken pasta... I don't recall the name of it. It was extremely delicious although, a little spicy or over-peppered or something. The spice level was tolerable because it was cooked divinely. Divinely. I was so ready to give a five star review as I ate my dinner. The rest of the experience was kind of shoddy if you ask me. I reminded the waitress twice about the coffee coupon before she finally got around to asking her manager as she was collecting our dinner plates. That really kinda irritated me. Then she came back and told us they would honor the coupon, which in my opinion, there shouldn't have been any question about it in the first place! My fiance was interested in the drink so we ordered it. I asked for it to go on my separate bill. My mom also ordered one that was to go on her bill. So, it took like 10 minutes to receive the drinks... I would be willing to let that go easily because it was super busy, and getting late on a Friday so the crowd was a little more on the sloppy drunk side and I'm sure the bar was getting busy. Seriously, it didn't bother me that much. What did bother me was that the waitress came over and told us she was going to bring the bills and claimed that the coffee we ordered was taken care of, or specifically, that we didn't "need to worry about it." Great! Awesome! That totally kicks ass! Not only was the food great but then the manager was comping us the remaining $3 of the drink! What a great night! Then she brought the bill. It was $200 for all of our food and drinks for 8 people. I guess it's not THAT bad considering the food was so good and there were a few Guinnesses and whiskeys out on the table... but then I glanced over the receipts for the table's bill and our separate one. She was being honest that she wasn't charging ME for the coffee drink but there the stupid thing was on my mom's bill for my fiance's "seat" AND the coupon wasn't taken off! Ugh! So, I don't know... my mom insisted that I not ask the waitress to take it off but it took everything in me to not call a manager over and address it. I'm really sure it was a misunderstanding because we only ordered the coffee beverage because the coupon made it less than half the price... and we cleared the coupon before we ordered it. Out of respect for my mom, I didn't fight over the $4 coupon, but it really did bug me a lot. So, it's a three star joint in my mind. Maybe I expect too much but since I asked about the coupon a total of four times and was then told they were doing one better for us by taking it off our bill completely... I expect that the waitress double checks the bill to make sure the drink was handled properly. At the very least, the manager approving the comp should check it. But, really, I guess it's not really their fault that my mom was too embarrassed for me to ask about it a fifth time. I'm sticking to my guns with the three, though... I shouldn't have to ask a fifth time!!

I'm unsure how I feel about this place. On one hand concerns of mine seem trivial, but on the other hand there's not much about my meal that really sticks out. I feel like our waitress forgot about us (or maybe she was just flakey?). She was never gone an excessive amount of time, but enough for you to find yourself wondering. The food was reasonable, albeit a bit overpriced for what you get. It seems to lack flavor, but that could be the cuisine in general. Fish and chips is very popular and there is always someone at my table that orders it every time we go. The bangers are good, but I would caution you ordering them as your entree. They don't necessarily come out piping hot. The desert menu is small, and it's basically everything made with some sort of alcohol. Haha. My biggest complaint was this - we sat outside in the evening. Shortly after our waitress took our drink order she lit these outdoor warming lamps and fire pit. It was too my back and it smelled like exhaust/burning to me. Part of me wanted to get up right then. I either got used to the smell or it went away after a time. I couldn't tell you which.

Well, I guess for a fake Irish bar this place is okay. But know that it is really just a restaurant with an Irish name. Oh sure- there are some Irish like things on the menu, like corned beef and cabbage and an Irish breakfast, but really burgers, sandwiches and salads are what most people are eating. I ordered a plain hamburger patty and a side salad. The hamburger was way over cooked and the lettuce, tomato and onion that topped it was tired and dried out. My mom's corned beef "paddy melt" fared better as it was a large sandwich and quite tasty. Our server was very good at getting us in and out in time for us to see our movie nearby which is the reason for more than 2 stars. Plenty of free parking and I liked the little stream "wildlife" area that runs along the side of the place. All in all, it was just okay. Nothing special to make me head back here on future visits.
