I've been a customer for years and their Chinese food is my favorite in Lapeer. However, you have to make sure they get everything in your order, sometimes they will charge a bit for broccoli (don't order a side of broccoli, it'd be cheaper just to order another lunch that has broccoli in it) and sometimes they forget to add an eggroll. We usually get sesame chicken, without rice and put some broccoli in it's place but then there would be a eggroll missing. I had to remind them recently before I left with my order about the missing eggroll in the box and it saved me a trip. I've been to other places for Chinese food in Lapeer and have had a major disappointment with, but so far, this place is still good to me. Their price menu varies starting at $2.50 and up. (over $11) You can find their menu on their website wahwongrestaurant.com

The wonton soup was ok. The fried rice was good, and the egg roll wasn't bad. I ordered the General Tao's with extra veggies. They initially forgot the extra veggies, which they prepared for me while I waited an additional 7 minutes. I don't know if it was because of this extra time... but he fry job and breading on the chicken were weak, Just mushy, bland, and way too much breading. Nothing close to crispness. I wish more Chinese places would put the sauce on the side to preserve a decent fry job. This was my favorite restaurant when I was a fat little teenager growing up In Lapeer in the 90's. But my palates grown up now... and this just doesn't do it for me. It's more like 2.5 stars, but I gave them the "memories" bonus.

The building needs some updating. Wonton soup is good. My husband and I ordered their crab ragoons and they didn't have any cream cheese filling in them. We approached the waitress and she argued with us and said they did. We had them there before and they were very different. We told her we didn't want them. There are 6 ragoons in an order and we only ate 1 and a 1/2, she charged us for two. This used to be our favorite Chinese restaurant in Lapeer but we will never go back there again!

If we want chinese, this is the place we order out from. They give you large portions of food, the egg rolls are decent and the wonton soup is good. The egg drop soup always seems to taste burnt. A couple of my favorites are the Kung Po and cashew chicken. My wife likes the almond boneless chicken, but they seem to use a lot of breading on it and it's a little plain tasting. Overall, decent food for the price.

My old review: I love this place! They are a Chinese family, and the restaurant has been there forever. I love the wanton. Egg rolls are always hot! Tea is good. I love love the General Tao . The restaurant is small. It's a Lapeer Favorite! My New review: This place now just makes me sad. It's a great take out place now. They make you pay for refills, and the waitresses are all teenage girls, who just sit there and gossip. The food is still good. :). They even got Sushi now! I just wish they would fix the place up a little, it's really gone down hill. :/.
