I really really want to like this place. In fact I have tried several times to give it a chance. I'm sorry to say that I continue to be let down. I'm not sure what the issue is here, but my food is never right. And no I am not one of "those" people who has to custom order everything. I recall the first time my fiancé and I ate here. It was pretty late in the evening and not too busy in the restaurant. I ordered the guacamole chicken sandwich. About 20 minutes later the server returns with a WELL done guacamole burger, definitely not what I had ordered (not too big on red meat). When I let her know it was not right she told me that I was wrong and that they didn't even have that chicken sandwich. I showed her the menu, then she believed me... Recently my fiancé picked up some food to go for the family. He arrived home only to discover that a significant amount of food was missing and....no receipt. Needless to say when I called back to inquire about the food, I was treated as a common thief looking for a free order of chicken strips. I am huge on customer service. Regardless of how good the food is, bad service is enough to keep me away. There are plenty of places to grab a quick bite in this area. Culvers has the same type of food, better service, and they know how to get it right!

I was afraid that I wouldn't have enough time to eat lunch, after having stopped at Walmart to pick up photos. But I decided to risk it. The double cheese burger with bacon was prepared to my specifications. The entire order was correct. Service was prompt (thanks, Savannah!) and pleasant. I got to sit down and eat, and was out in 30 minutes. This was from 11:50 am to 12:20 pm on a weekday. Pretty impressive! One star short of perfect because, while the fries are tasty, they are tiny julienned. I like big steak fries. The place was clean and the parking lot was also in good order.

This was my first visit to a Steak 'n Shake - As a matter of fact, it was the first time I heard of it. There is apparently one in Las Vegas and one in Reno, but I never ran across them. The Jalapeño Steak Burger was very good - Moist & Juicy... The salty Carmel Pretzel milk shake was unique and very yummy!

There was a day when I liked Steak 'n Shake. But recent visits have been underwhelming. This location was particularly disappointing: The chili was pretty much all beans, very little meat. My sandwich had so much mustard on it, all you could taste was mustard. The only positive thing I can say about this visit was the chocolate shake was good. When I went up to the register to pay, I could see back in the kitchen. It was a bit of a mess back there, and the floor looked like it had been quite some time since it had been cleaned. Steak n' Shake has been a successful chain with an 80 year history. The food can be pretty OK (by fast food standards), but this location needs to step up their game.

I love steak and shake! Best burgers under $5 anywhere and far better then many above my cheap budget. Service was top notch, thanks Taylor. Double steak burger might be my last meal choice.

I have severe food allergies. I notified the server and gave her a card that I carry with me for the chef. I was informed that they could not accommodate my allergy. We, a table of four, got up and walked out without even a sorry. Will never return back to this Steak and Shake!

Food was good but it took forever, our waiter was rude and when we brought up a mistake in an order and she ignored it.

Was told I cannot have my e cig in the restaurant. Manager said it was corporate policy. I called corporate. No its not. It may be franchise policy. I told him it wasn't corporate policy. He told me it was. I told him the restaurant was franchise. He argued yet again that it was not franchise owned... terrible management

This was our first time at a Steak n Shake. The variety of steak burgers is very good. I liked the mix and match Shooters, but thought they could use a lot more sauce. The salty caramel shake was great. The staff seemed friendly and worked well as a team.

I used to love Steak N Shake, but I hadn't been there in a while. I stopped off while visiting Lansing. From the time I ordered my food in the drive thru to the time I pulled away from the window was at least 20 minutes, with only one car in front of me. My fries were cold and the prices are outrageously high for what you get. I doubt I'll be going back.

Since we had great experiences in Florida we thought we would try it here. We got there late, around 10:30. Let's just say the B-team was on staff. The meal was ok, my wife ordered a taco salad and they brought it with chicken on it. I had their BLT. That was pretty good. When we went to pay it took almost ten minutes to get out of there. We've had better experiences.

A pretty good restaurant. Our waitress was pretty friendly but didn't seem too knowledgeable about the food. She said that she wouldn't be able to give us an opinion because she hadn't tried it. I think the employers should always stand behind their products. The atmosphere was great for kids. They even get to eat free on weekends. However, service was a bit slow for us. Customers who came much later than us got faster service than us. We were the only East Indians there. I hate to think that was the case for the service. The fries were a bit on the skinny side. Other than that, it was a pretty good restaurant for one of our stops on our vacation.

A very good Steak 'n Shake location -- clean, efficient and fast service. The food is typical of the chain: Those great burgers, fine chili and delicious shakes.
