Dined here with family members on a Saturday night. Was in town for a special family celebration. Saw this restaurant listed at our hotel. We went due to all the high ratings. This plase is EXCELLENT. The staff was outstanding, accommodating and friendly. The food was FANTASTIC, as well as the dessert. Wine is very good. Seafood is very very fresh. Can't wait to go back. I might consider flying to Lansing from Chicago just for dinner and to visit my nephew. Keep up the good work guys.

The lobster bisque was delightful. I also tried the crunchy Thai shrimp salad, and it was out of this world. Would go there again as soon as I can.

It was okay. A bit of a step up from Red Lobster. That said, their crab legs are frozen and no better than what you can get from the grocery store, and they charge $14 for a shrimp cocktail consisting of 5 shrimp. Next time I will buy a pound of crab legs and a bag of frozen shrimp at Kroger and enjoy more food at a lower price at home. OH and do NOT order the Bloody Mary. Ours tasted like watered down ketchup, and when we sent them back the waitress did not seem surprised at all.

I had been meaning to come here for quite some time, but hadn't got around it until now. Until this past January, when it was purchased by Landry's (who also owns chains such as Bubba Gump Shrimp Co, Rainforest Cafe, Morton's The Steakhouse, McCormick and Schmick's Seafood, among others) it was owned by Ruth Hospitality Group (AKA Ruth's Chris Steakhouse). Being a fan of Ruth's Chris I really wanted to get in here and get a feel for the joint. We started with the Jumbo Lump Crab Dip which was pretty tasty. Nice and creamy with a pleasant amount of artichoke and a prominent fresh crab flavor. The chips are claimed to be homemade, and perhaps they are, but there wasn't anything above average about them. The wife got the Cajun Chicken Sandwich which was exactly as expected. A fair sized, moist chicken breast covered in your typical Cajun style seasoning and grilled and served on a nice brioche bun with Cheddar Cheese, lettuce, onions, and a spicy mayo. I ordered the Lobster and Shrimp roll BLT. Let me tell you: I LOVE LOBSTER ROLLS ...which this was not. The title alone was enough to tip me off that I wouldn't be getting a proper lobster roll given the presence of shrimp, tomato, and bacon, but I hoped that it would be close enough to satiate my love of the real deal. Well, it was good, but a proper Lobster roll, it was not. The shrimp didn't detract or add to the experience. The bacon just overpowered the delicate flavor of the lobster. The bread was too thick and dense (brioche, again), and they went full on Leeeeeroy Jenkins with the celery. Again, it was pretty good, but this is a clear cut case where less would have been more. The atmosphere was nice and I really like the open view to the kitchen. It seems to be a popular place for lunch meetings, so there are lots of professionals around. The prices were about what you'd expect for a higher end seafood chain that takes the care that they do. FWIW, they also have a loyalty program that costs $25 to join, but you get a $25 "welcome" reward and a $25 birthday reward, plus $25 back for every $250 spent. It's good across all the Landry's brands.

First time going to Mitchell's for my boyfriend's birthday. Very warm, welcoming service... Our waiter, Fred, was extremely kind and helpful. He was also around not too much, but not too little.. just perfect. The food was delicious. I recommend the grilled tilapia topped with the crab and avocado pico. 4/5 star rating just because of the price.

Went there for lunch ordered some great dishes, wine and a champagne toast as my daughter had just found her wedding dress ahead of schedule It was beautiful out and we had a great waitress, but sorry to say a whole glass of wine was dropped by our waitress. The manager came and comp the whole bill!!!not our intention but the right thing to do. Thank you!!!

Went to the restaurant tonight and was VERY dissapointed by the restaurant manager. Dropped $165 which wasn't bad except for the bait & switch when the check came. From out of town, visit Lansing often & will definitely steer clear of Mitchell's.

Mitchell's is more like 3 1/2, but the food was not enough to merit 4 stars. Our server was amazing. He was polite and efficient. The atmosphere is okay, nothing outstanding. We started with a dozen Chesapeake Bay oysters, which gave me great hope for the meal. They were very fresh and paired with a nice mignonette. I'm not sure why (okay, we're Americans, I do know why) they put cocktail sauce and horesradish with oysters, it completely overwhelms the delicate sea flavor. I had the lobster bisque, which was good, but not great. It was also not a bisque. It was more like a tomato thick soup with two tiny chunks of lobster. It was not the whispy, creamy bisque I had wanted. I ordered the Autumn trio - lobster tail, shrimp, and scallops. The lobster was good, how can lobster not be? The shrimp was unappetizing, though, barely flavored. The scallops were small and just didn't have a lot of flavor. The vegetable was brussels spouts (not good) and sweet potato (okay). I did enjoy my grapefruit-basil-vodka cocktail, and the guys had a decent white wine. Overall, it was a good meal, but not an outstanding one, as the reviews had suggested.

Pretty simple: Great Seafood. When I am in the area, this is my go to place for seafood and oysters. I have always gotten great service, and amazing food here. Their oysters are top of the line and always done right. I highly recommend this place!

ordered the "jumbo shrimp" cocktail $13.99, was definitely expecting more than 5 shrimp and they really werent that large WAY WAY over priced for this appetizer. also over pour on the liquor.while some people may appreciate an over pour i like to at least taste my mixed drink not just the alcohol in it.

My parents and grandma and I ate Christmas Dinner here this year, since we didn't get our power back in time to eat at home. I am so glad that they were open! This was a much lovelier place to eat than a little Chinese restaurant. Given the number of people who had to eat out due to the power outage, they were doing a swift business. Servers were so friendly even though they were working on Christmas night, and I was grateful for that. Some of them didn't have power yet themselves! Sad. We enjoyed an inexpensive Michigan riesling while we ate bread and butter and a lovely, simple house salad with poppy seed vinaigrette. My dinner was a special that I can't find on the online menu - lobster tail, king crab legs, and some other kind of crab legs. Hey, it's Christmas! Nothing wrong with a little extravagance. They brought clarified butter in this little apparatus that kept it warm and melted during the whole meal. Apparently this is normal on the east coast, but it was new to me. And what a novel idea! Nobody wants their butter to go cold! All my shellfish was very tasty and well cooked and fresh. The garlicky, buttery grilled asparagus and delicious creamy mashed potatoes were good accompaniments. Everyone enjoyed their food and was too stuffed for dessert! Though I normally don't go to chain restaurants, Mitchell's is definitely a cut above your average franchise. If you see one in any state, it's a safe bet for good service and fresh fish.

There food is hit or miss some of it is good and some just has no taste. Friendly servers good place for a date a little pricey on some stuff but not bad overall there are better places to eat near by.

This restaurant is like an intimate Red Lobster and even better. They serve bread on the table along with butter. I ordered a fresh lemonade which was really good (free refills). They refilled my glass 2 times without asking. I ordered the shrimp angelhair pasta. It was really good, especially with the mushrooms. It came along with really crunchy tasty garlic bread. I also tried some of my buddy's jumbo shrimp. It was really juicy and fresh. much better than Red Lobster (whom i still love dearly). but the best thing about this restaurant is the... Sharkfin desert. It is a ice cream pie. Layers of ice cream, peanut butter, roasted peanuts, crushed oreos.... SO GOOOD :) if you come here, you must try this.

I love the food, especially when prepared singapore style. Unfortunately they have a problem with fruit flies in the summer, so one might question the freshness of their fish. Go in the spring, fall, or winter if you intend to convince yourself that you aren't at risk of foodbourne illnesses. I've questioned the waitstaff about this, and they just shrug their shoulders and blame it on management. That's not to suggest the waitstaff is unhelpful though... They just aren't in any position to improve the fruit-fly condition. It reflects more poorly on management than anyone else.

This was our first time here, and we all truly enjoyed this place. As it was something of a momentous occasion -- meeting the parents of our daughter's boyfriend -- the wrong restaurant could have been nerve-wracking. Mitchell's Fish Market contributed mightily to a great evening. We'd made reservations and my husband and I were immediately greeted at the door and ushered to our seats even though we were 20 minutes early and the place was jumpin'. Alissa, our cheerful and very competent server, appeared in a flash for our drink order, and had ice water and bread on the table before our napkins were in our laps. As soon as our daughter, her boyfriend, and his parents arrived and our greetings were over, Alissa was right back with us. Her service all night long was superlative, attentive without helicoptering. (We were almost the last people to leave, nearly closing the joint, but Alissa never made us feel rushed.) Appetizers for the table were excellent, calamari (perfectly fried) and the spinach/crab/artichoke dip (when we ran out of chips for dipping, Alissa made them magically reappear without prompting). My husband ate soup and some more appetizers as his entree, and, after sampling them all I can personally testify that they were fabulous. Our daughter (a TV news reporter always watching her weight) had plain, old grilled salmon, well-done, with Caesar-salad-dressing-on-the-side. She loved it. I had one of their signature dishes, shrimp-and-crab-stuffed cod, and it was a little dry but completely edible (heaven knows I've had much, much worse). We don't know what the boyfriend and his parents had, but they live on the East Coast and are able to get the "real thing" fish-wise -- they raved, too. Parking is easy-peasy, the noise-level is fairly loud happy chatter, the Cosmo I had was delectable, and we can't say enough about Alissa's service. (BTW, we LOVED the other parents and had so much fun with them -- no wonder we almost closed the place!) We'll definitely be back to Mitchell's Fish Market!

This place is in fact a chain. However, I like it. And anyone who prefers red lobster, well, I don't even need to say it. I like my meat rare and fish lightly done as well. I have never had a problem with Mitchell's overcooking my fish. This is one of very few nice restaurants in all of Lansing, and I'm surprised it doesn't get more respect here on yelp. It is likely out of the price range for most of Lansing's inhabitants. My favorite meal is the 3-way. The scallops are perfect, salmon with goat cheese incredible, and tilapia excellent. I like this dish with a crisp sauvignon blanc, and then some carrot cake for desert. Do not forget to get the carrot cake.

small portions for the price. oysters were really small, not as fresh as I'm used to, but good for michigan. service is decent - better than most places in the lansing area though. wine was good. better for lunch than for dinner.

Here celebrating the birthday of a friend's grandparent and surprisingly enjoying the food! I'm not a seafood eater so I was worried but they had 4 dinner choices for non fish eaters and all sounded like great choices. I went with Lemon pepper chicken. It came with delicious smashed redskin potatoes and crisp green beans. The chicken itself was juicy and tender. The service was also great! For dessert I'm experiencing the "shark fin" 7 layer pie, sharing with others of course! Overall heat place to eat, even if you're not a seafood lover!

Hadn't been there in a few years, but I certainly was glad we went back. Great selection, wonderful dinner and the wait staff was friendly and helpful. Was a bit noisy, but I guess that's what you get on a Friday night at a popular restaurant. Overall, we're glad we chose Mitchell's and we'll not wait so long to go back.

Came in for a late lunch and this was my first time here. We started with the crab spinach dip and my entree was the crispy fish tacos. The spin dip was ok, nothing spectacular but the tacos were pretty darn good. I liked the cornmeal batter and the sour cream sauce was tasty. The fish was cooked perfectly and the mango salsa complimented it well. Overall it was a very nice meal. The only thing that was lacking in my opinion was the service. We had to wait about 5 minutes to place our order after we had decided and then when it came time to cash out we waited at least 15 minutes. It never ceases to amaze me that when a restaurant is slow that's when the service is worst.... But that said I'll come back at a busier time and see if it's different.

We always enjoy dining at Mitchell's! This time around our server was not great, however our meals were fantastic! The shrimp scampi, crab cake, and cod were all well prepared. It's best to have reservations as they can be very busy! The staff does a wonderful job at seating you on time! For dessert we would recommend the creme brûlée!! It is absolutely delicious!!

    (4)
  • Mark H.

I had the Sam Adams beer battered fish & chips. It was okay. Batter was right on the verge of tasting burnt but the cod was cooked right. Kind of expensive given the portion size. I prefer the same dish at Calladaugh's. Portion size is more important to me than presentation and it's apparent that Mitchell's is more concerned about image than value.

The parmesan crusted chicken and thai shrimp is probably one of the finest i have ever had! Add to it good Michigan beer on tap , a cozy ambience and warm and helpful staff, mitchell's fish market is the coolest place to hangout in that 3 mile radius. Be it a date night with your special someone or a family dinner! Simply love it!!!

Celebrating a graduation from MSU...a perfect spot Easy reservations with Open Table and we were in on very busy afternoon with lots of families and their graduates. The four of us were seated quickly and drink orders were taken. The menu had the basics and some creative dishes. Two of us went the traditional broiled with butter route (whitefish and halibut) and the other two went seafood and pasta combo's. All were very well prepared and came out quickly. A variety of desserts were enjoyed along with coffee and tea's Our waiter did an excellent job keeping the table clean and the bread filled and the orders came out as requested. Well worth the trip north of campus

I got there to late to get a seat at the bar (1710) so I sat in the dinning room...I ordered a Stela....it came in a pint glass. I had the oysters..very good and the special app...with crab cake, shrimp and calamari...awesome...ordered a piece of carrot cake to go and got two.

  • Keith M.

This has become a favorite with my wife and me. She loves the tilapia (I think it pecan crusted), I like most any of the catch of the day broiled. I usually get a bowl of Lobsterbisque as well, it is delicious. The service is fantastic. Molly was our server last week, and she was the best. We always get a slice of carrot cake, stuff our selves with it, and take home enough for our kids each to have a large portion! Quality food, service and a nice atmosphere, unless you get seated in the bar area on a busy Friday night!

We ate here on a recent Saturday night looking for a decent place to eat before going to hear some music. The calamari was devoured quickly and my shrimp cocktail was fresh tasting. I got the gumbo and enjoyed that as well. One friend really like her Shanghai Seafood Sampler. Our server was good too.

    (4)
  • Ashley N.

Mediocre service. Server was not attentive or very friendly. Mediocre food. I got the Shang-Hai Seafood Sampler. It was drenched in soy sauce. My husband got the lobster and cod platter. Not seasoned and heavy on the butter. Paid WAY TOO MUCH for what we received. This was our first date out in months, and the bad service, with the ok food, combined with the very expensive bill. Just ruined the end to our date.

We moved from LA, California, a year ago, & we are perpetually on the hunt for good restaurants. We are constantly disappointed by the quality of restaurant food in this area, but, despite being a chain, Mitchell's Fish Market is pretty good & darn consistent in its quality. I've been three time already. I have learned to shy away from anything that is remotely sweet (so many dishes are either too sweet or too salty out here), so I've gotten the Winter Price Fixe meal twice (grilled shrimp with creme brulee). The shrimp is always well cooked, not overcooked. We've gotten the shrimp cocktail, which is expensive, considering you only get 4 (large) shrimp. But it's worth it because the horseradish cocktail sauce is awesome. So, the Fish Market is an easy one to rely on. It's consistently good. For some reason, here you have to get good food at fancy expensive restaurants, like Mitchell's. You can't find delicious hole-in-the-wall places, like you'd find in Los Angeles. Bummer.

On the way to a trip to Detroit we stop for dinner at Mitchell's Fish Market. We're warmly welcomed and brought to a small booth which is sparsely lit. The restaurant is lit like the Cantina in Star Wars, tables lit with dim shadowed faces above the lights. It's dark, private, but thankfully that's the only comparison; the restaurant gives every impression of fine dining. Waiters and waitresses are in white shirts and black ties, all very formal. In front of me is a wonderful counter full of what is obviously, from the colour of them, some very fresh fish. Beautiful marble red tuna steaks, white cod, live lobsters. Our waiter is nice but a little pushy, not enough to annoy us and he can take no for an answer. The menu is plentiful, lots of choice; soups, salads, appetizers, surf and turf, battered and fried, house specials, shellfish and there are some daily specials. I'm tempted to have some battered fish and chips, something that is always in offer in Ireland where I grew up, but not some much here. But the fish in the case looks to good to be battered and deep fried. We both order two of the specials. I go for the Cajun style salmon, shrimp and scallops, the Seafood Americana and my wife chooses the lobster and shrimp stuffed cod which comes with their 'famous' mash potatoes. I am warned by the waiter it's spicy, which I didn't really pick up from the menu, as it just says the scallops are Cajun. It doesn't deter me, I pick it anyway. The food arrives on long rectangular plates. My meal is ok, the whole plate is covered in the Cajun sauce and is a little spicy, though not extraordinarily hot. The winning meal by far is my wifes' cod. Simply cooked with a hint of lemon that just accentuates the entire dish. There's a reason they're known for they're mash potatoes! Yum. We round it all off with dessert. Our waiter recommends the sharkfin pie and that it's huge, we should share, which was nice of him. Apart from being a little pushy he's taken very good care of us.. When it arrives it's this monster of an ice-cream cake; butter fudge ice-cream, honey roasted peanuts and the most beautiful oreo cookie crust. Delicious. The restaurant is a bit pricy, but there 's a quality to the ingredients and the dishes, so we didn't mind paying the little extra. I'll certainly drop anchor here again for more tasty bites!

My favorite restaurant in the Lansing area, I've been there several times already and the food is always good. Great customer service and very attentive staff even on Valentine's day when the place was really, really busy. Food was still made perfectly as ordered. Not a whole lot of options for fine dining in this area but this one is at the top of my short list (although normally I wouldn't consider chain restaurant as "fine dining")

    (4)
  • Mark W.

yep, it's that good. I give everything an A+. The stuffed-lobster is a B+. Service is excellent. You have to scout it out in advance to get a quiet table for you and your best. Just order to your liking or what the waiter(ess) recommends and you will be very happy. Thanks Doug for making any great time for us on our anniversary.

WOW! Love this place. Was taken here by coworkers. Excellent food. I had the Chilean Sea Bass. Excellent. Everything was great. Hot bread, my entree and the shared shark fin desert. The Shark Fin desert was so big 6 of us all shared. It is a fancy Peanut Buster Parfait. Service was impeccable as well. (Thanks Nickolas, great job for a newbie!) Excellent!

Spectacular! I'm a big seafood fanatic only because it's easy to go grab a good burger within a 10 mile radius, but it's not easy to find some good seafood with a snap of a finger. My first time in this place was as if I was on cloud nine. I was drooling with the dishes that I had consumed. I was in awe of the way each item on my plate was full of succulent flavor. Each time I have come back to this place, I have always ordered something different and so far nothing has been worthy of any bad reviews (that should already say a lot) Yes, it's quite pricey, but it is definitely worth the treat once in a while. I still make frequent stops back here to try something else on the menu that I have not had before. I have NOT been disappointed I any of my choices yet. The nice thing about this Mitchell's is that it is located in the middle of a smaller outlet shopping center so you can easily walk around after dinner and mosey on down to several places. The other great thing about this location is that because it is in the middle, there are other food businesses located in the middle "island" of this shopping center.

The food is a bit on the pricey side, but the fish is fresh and very well cooked and I really love coming here. It's hard to find a place with better fish in the area.

  • Gerry H.

This place feels like a chain : new building, proximate to a new shopping mall, trendy decor, young waitstaff, etc. But if it is, I'll give it a pass, because our experience was fantastic. Despite the fact that the Lansing metro area (if there is such a thing) was jam packed because of the MSU/UW football game, and the restaurant was really humming, our party of 6 was immediately seated. Our waitress was very attentive and she had an excellent grasp of virtually everything on the menu. From the local micro brews to the various preparation styles, it was obvious that she was extremely well trained. The food was great. I had grilled Steelhead Trout, and it was perfectly prepared, and honestly the price was pretty reasonable. My wife had salmon, as she regularly does, and she reported that it was among the best she's eaten. We all shared the Shark Fin Cake, and it was delicious. Beside the fact that I'm a 5-star virgin, and I'm nervous about losing it, I can't give this place 5 because they were out of the beer that I ordered, and the recommended replacement wasn't very good. I know, I'm nit-picking. Anyway, a great place!

I actually have to disagree with Erich's review below, after living in a major city for a while and coming back to Lansing I found Mitchell's prices to be fairly inexpensive. However, I will admit that the fish is not always cooked to perfect. Given the culinary scene in the Lansing area, I think that this is one of the better places to eat. The service is always good and I always know that I can count on the peel and eat shrimp!

I had already been to the Mitchell's in Birmingham, but I went to the Eastwood location for the first time this past Monday. I met some friends for drinks and had a good time. Mitchell's has kind of a tavernish charm, since there's marlins and swordfish jutting out at you from the wall, but all in all it's a pretty progressive restaurant/bar. Drinks are pricey ($7 for a glass of riesling), but it's Eastwood so everythiing is pricey. Awesome for after work drinks with the crew.

I lived in Lansing, MI for almost 3 years and have ate at this restaurant numerous times. The last time I ate there was for graduation dinner and the food was still as good as the other times, even the specials of which some at the table ordered. The more favorite was anything with the Shanghai sauce. I personally like the Shanghai sampler because you get to try different type of seafood with the Shanghai sauce. Other dishes that have been regularly ordered during visits, including calamari and clam chowder soup, were also good. The service also was good - the waitstaff is attentive and friendly. They also are patient in answering any questions you may have about the menu/food. You don't feel any rush from them to decide or finish your food.

We went here once and had such a bad experience that my husband refuses to go back, ever. A friend of my husband's worked at Mitchell's at the time and gave a number of us gift certificates for Christmas. We decided we would all go out together for dinner, and made reservations. (There were about eigh tof us.) Despite the reservations, we had to wait almost an hour, and the staff seemed totally unconcerned by this. Once we were finally seated, service continued to be abysmal. When my husband spoke up and said how unhappy we were with the long wait, our server actually ROLLED HIS EYES at us and said, "Well, this isn't APPLEBEE's, you know. This is a fine-dining restaurant." As if they were Villegas or something! (My husband later told me, "Yeah, if it had been Applebee's, we'd have eaten already!") The food, for the record, was OK. The sister of the friend who'd given us the gift certificates (and was employed there) spoke to the manager, as well, but we didn't get much of a response from him, either. I would probably give the place another shot to see if things have improved, but I seriously doubt I could ever drag my husband back.

I currently live in a major city- LA, am a major foodie and can attest that I don't care where you live, when I pay $20 for my dish I'm expecting more than clueless/ambivalent staff and mediocre to easily just plain bad tasting food. Bread - warm. whipped butter, only highlight Fried Tilapia- Yes, I'll have some fish with my vat of oil. Not that I don't like grease, but make it worthy of my taste buds, son! No flavor. Pecan crusted fish- BLLEEECHK.. I imagine they dipped it in butter and just placed the pecans on plain jane style. Even the pecans weren't fresh, really.. ? Indeed, I think one is paying for the location. It goes to show the food will speak for itself and I think EVERY other reviewer on here has, and if not, should agree this restaurant .. sucks. Well, except for "Andrew", it's ok, he can have all the shrimp peeling his heart desires.

***** for the martini **** for the service -- friendly, prompt and professional *** 1/2 for the "Kung Pao" calamari *** for the actual Coho salmon and my companion's tuna * for the entree preparation: "Shang Hai" WAY too much soy sauce, no discernable ginger, and the "sticky rice" wasn't sticky. * for some very un-sustainable fish choices on the fresh list Since they did a decent job on the fish I'd stick with a simpler preparation. Mitchell's is a chain located in a mall -- clean, not garishly decorated. They have a fresh list and an oyster bar. I might go back, but only if my fish preparation was very, very simple -- my "Shang Hai" salmon was swimming in a salty pool of what tasted like straight soy sauce. Cost is on the high side I think, for the area, if you order from the fresh list and closer to moderate if you order from their standard offerings.

I love Mitchell's - best seafood in town, easily. Their lobster bisque is my absolute favorite and it never disappoints. Good service, good food.

This is about as good a seafood place in Lansing as your gonna find. The lobster is awesomely good (and expensive). Their menu changes daily based on what they can have brought in. It is a chain restaurant, however, they do a very good job of hiding that fact. Very comfortable dining area with plenty of dividers and plants to reduce noise. The kitchen is right up front and easily viewable from the dining area. I have always admired this in a restaurant as this tells me they have nothing to hide in their kitchen. Service is always great (as it should be for the price) and food is always good. I have had minor issues there, but if you say something to the wait staff they are more than happy to correct them for you. I have also found them to be very accommodating with the way I like things prepared. You simply must have the 7-layer carrot cake. Plan on taking it home...it's huge, but oh so good.

I loved my meal at Mitchell's Fish Market! I got the fruitti di mare paste: a generous assortment of seafood including scallops, mussels, shrimp, and calamari over pappardelle (my favorite pasta!). You get the choice of a tomato-based sauce, or white wine sauce, and I got the latter. I definitely don't enjoy a thick, alfredo-y sauce because it's too rich, so I really enjoyed this sauce as it was not heavy or overly creamy. The entree also comes with two big pieces of savory garlic bread propped up on the edges of the bowl. I was full, but not too uncomfortably full after polishing my plate. Our waitress was extremely friendly and patient with taking our orders and making honest recommendations about the menu. Truthfully, I didn't expect this restaurant to be anything too special, but it has been one of my best dining experiences in Michigan so far.

This place is in a super classy outdoor mall, so of course we had worked up an appetite shopping! The ambiance was amazing here and they have a really nice area where you can see the raw oysters and fresh fish fillets. I felt we were under dressed in our leggings, skirts, and sweaters it was so nice! The server was very kind and efficient. And our salads came out super fast. I also must mention the fresh anchovies on my Caesar Salad were delicious! They tasted exactly like fresh anchovies are supposed to taste! The pasta in the Fruitti di Mare Pasta I had, with the white wine sauce, was house-made and great! I do wish there had been much more the sauce however, as once the seafood and sauce were gone, I was still left with a large bowl of kinda dry pasta. But if we are in the neighborhood again, we will definitely come back!

This is not a fancy place but it is very nice. The food is fresh and tasty. Our table ordered oysters, ceviche, lobster bisque, wedge salad, spinach salad, crab legs and fresh sea bass. Everything was perfectly cooked. Good job everyone.

One of my favorite restaurants. I've never had anything bad here. I love the fresh sour dough bread that they bring to the table. It's the only place in town I trust to eat raw oysters. My favorite is Shang Hai with whatever fish I want that day. They do have an option to get salmon, shrimp, scallops Shang hai. Shang hai is spinach, soy sauce and ponzu sauce mixed with ginger and other seasonings and sticky rice. You can buy fresh fish to take home and cook.

I always have Alaskan King Crab on my birthday. Mitchell's is one of very few places to get that in the greater Lansing area. The crab was good - not the best I've ever had, but still delicious. Their menu hosts a variety of food, including non-seafood items, which is great for my boyfriend who doesn't really enjoy seafood. Scallops are wonderful, and larger than most. Service was below average for one of the nicest restaurants in the area. My sisters order was taken incorrectly, but (another server) noticed and fixed it promptly and gave her a free dessert. Overall, I'd eat here again, and would definitely suggest it if anyone asked for a good seafood place or a nice restaurant.

I took my wife out for a nice evening here and ordered up some fish. It was a bit overcooked and much too expensive for the quality. In Mitchell's Fish Market you pay for the location and atmosphere, not the food. Red Lobster actually has an edge on this place for seafood fare.

One of, if not the best restaurants in the Lansing area......and not just for it's seafood. Steaks are fantastic also. I've never eaten a dessert quite like the Shark Fin or it's Carrot Cake. Service has always exceeded my expectation. These guys know what they're doing

Nothing worse than overcooked fish, and this place is famous for it. Too bad, looks like a good fish place from the outside. What makes it worse is paying high prices for mediocre quality. Service is okay, but can't make up for the badly prepared food.
