Great Wings and Burgers. The General Tso Wing Sauce is big flavor around the larger than normal wings. The Olive Burger (green or black) was unique and tasty. I had the green olive which were mixed in a mayo based sauce. Worked perfectly! The meat and the fresh homemade bun were both all-stars. I never would of expected the food out of this rustic style bar & grill. The menu is typical chain restaurant but done with attention to detail. My buddy had the Turkey Burger on a Fresh Pretzel Bun and bragged equally. Here on work assignment so we were not enjoying the many beer selections. Would be a great local beer, mixed drink, fave sports and great food hangout. Enjoy Lansing.

This is a fun little place. It has that cozy log cabin feel, but provides the sports-bar experience you look for. I have been twice. First for a burger, next for an appetizer and beer. Both times were to watch MSU basketball. It's a few miles from campus, but close to a lot of student apartments. However, it definitely doesn't attract the student crowd. There's really no need to go into detail on this one. It's a quality place, with great burgers, and great cheesy bread. It's definitely towards the top of my list of Lansing area restaurants.

Great service and food! Ordered a pizza and the waitress told us there was a bogo on pizzas :-) Got the "Famous" cheese bread and it lived up to its monicker. Great pizza sauce and ranch for dipping sauces. Deep dish pizza was some of the best I've had, quality sauce and cheese. A+ :-)

Tried today for the first time. It's not in my neighborhood, so I never sought it out. I tried an olive burger, and hoped it would not be dripping in mayo. She asked me how I wanted the burger cooked - which is a plus, in my opinion. I said medium. The order came out correct, promptly, and fairly quickly. The burger was very large! The meat was cooked medium-rare but that was okay, it was hot and juicy. Excellent olive stuff, not "sauce" because the olives were chopped big, not minced. Very little mayo or whatever to bind it together. Most excellent. Also tasty fries, very good. Service was fast, efficient and friendly. Sorry to read reviews that were disappointed with service. I am a stickler for excellent customer service and am sort of picky, and I had absolutely NO complaints whatsoever. Lodge/log cabin theme, taxidermy is present. TVs, all tuned to the same channel, no sound or captions. Background music was classic rock but not heavy metal, and not too loud. The fireplace was not lit - after all, it is mid-July. But there's one present and it must be nice in the winter. I will be sure to check it out. My burger, fries, and diet coke all came to $11.91, which includes the tax. I was VERY HAPPY with Leo's Lodge, and will definitely return.

We are not from the Lansing area, but when we do go there, we stop in for lunch. The first time we didn't know what to expect but were very well pleased with both the food and service. since then we've been back several times. We usually have the burgers, olive burger or bacon blue cheese, they are cooked the way you like. Both are big, and excellent and the sweet potato fries are a great side. But the Pepper Jack Crab soup is to die for!!! love it!! Nice, outdoorsy, fishing, hunting theme.

We really enjoyed this place. The pepper jack soup was awesome, as was the cheese bread. I probably shouldn't have ordered both, because I was pretty much stuffed by the time the burgers arrived. I got the olive burger. I ordered it cooked medium, and it was definitely well done. I was a bit bummed about that, but the burger was still juicy and tasty. Bonus points for having a grilled bun. The service was reasonably fast and certainly friendly. We'll be back!!

Leo's has very good and tasty food and friendly attentive staff. I have not had a meal or dish there that I didn't like. The kitchen also stays open late at night for convenient dine on or carry-out.

My regular hangout. Great beer specials, nice staff, and good food selections. Highly recommended if in the area, worth at least going once, won't be disappointed

I love Leo's! It's a simple place with really good food. The house soup is awesome...it's a crab/seafood pepper jack bisque. So yummy, I've never had a soup like it anywhere else. Everything else I've tried is really good and in large portions. It's also a great place to grab a drink with friends if you are looking for a chill location. The games are always on and viewable from most tables. There is also a nice patio area when the weather is warm. All around great place with great food and friendly people!

The Good: I've lived right around the corner from Leo's for about a year now, and it quickly became my go-to place to eat with friends in town or even just when I wanted to go out somewhere. It's a local chain, with two other locations in the area (I've only been the one on Jolly in Lansing). It looks like a log cabin on the inside, with deer heads and moose heads on the walls. While you think this would encourage more of a rough, out-doorsy type crowd, I've seen people of all walks of life there. The food has never disappointed me, and is priced fairly with pretty big portions. I've lived in the Lansing area for the past 5 years, and I will say that Leo's has the best burger I've had around here. Not to mention, they have a "Buy 1 Large Pizza, Get 1 Large Pizza Free" deal every Sunday. The Bad: The service is hit or miss. I've had really, really good service there but also really, really bad service there. From the looks of previous reviews, this seems to a be a current problem. All in all, check it out if you haven't already. Very cool local place with good food and relaxed atmosphere.

Leo's has great bar food and a fun atmosphere. The service has always been really good. If you are averse to hunting or seeing taxidermied animals, avoid.... They have excellent pizza and very good sandwiches.

Real calm place, interior was done in a hunting lodge motif. It was pretty cool actually. Staff was very friendly and the place was very clean. I did enjoy the food also! Reasonable priced and good portions. Plus they have beer! I would definitely come here again if I'm in the area.

Looks like a dive on the outside, but the food and service were both outstanding. I had the salmon bruschetta salad and a hazelnut (frangelico) coffee. Both were excellent and selected based on server recommendations. Definitely will visit here again when in the Lansing area!

  • Sally A.

Ordered the buffalo chicken salad... the menu said romaine lettuce someone needs to show them the difference between romaine and iceberg lettuce...... worst salad every .... this is the second time I have eaten there and had a bad meal.... there will NOT be a third. but the up side we had a decent server..

Everything was alright. Food and service. They have a bison burger on the menu but I've had better. Seems to take a long time for the food to come and it was not busy.

  • Cassidy B.

Seems understaffed. Messed up food orders. Slow service. I'm giving this place two stars and not one because the food is actually good. Plus they had founders beer. Maybe they will redeem themselves next time. The service was just a pain.

What a disappointment! Went out of our way to come here. Ordered a burger with cheese, olive spread on side, medium with mayo. Came out well, no cheese, olive spread on top of burger and mayo packet under burger. Nachos were nothing great either. Not coming back.

It is unfortunate that Leo's has seen fit to increase the spices in their meat. I used to love their burgers and steaks but they are now putting so much spice on their meat that it is not edible. If you go there, order the meat without spices put on. You will enjoy your meal then because their meat is very good without the extra spices.

Food is consistently deli ships every time I have been here. Staff is friendly and servings are huge. Try the pepper jack crab soup.

Excellent place for lunch and dinner. I prefer dinner...as then I can enjoy one of their giant beers. I've tried their fish sandwich, Michigan cherry salad, pulled pork sandwich and their pepperjack crab soup. All was delicious but if you try just one thing...make sure it is the soup. That soup is unbelievable. I don't even want to know how much butter must be used to get that taste and texture...however much it is...it's the perfect amount.

The venison burger tastes fantastic. The service is pretty good too. They could probably improve with a hostess but generally good all around. I was expecting different music than what I got but I was alone so I paid more attention to it than I normally would.

The pepper jack crab soup is always great. I have been all over the Okemos and SE corners of Lansing and this is by far one of the better places you can go to grab a cold beer and a decent meal. The wait staff are kind and attentive and the bar staff are always paying attention to their customers. I do wish they offered more food specials through the work week, but if that is my only gripe, things could be a lot worse.

Went last Wednesday for trivia. I had read a few reviews that said the service was horrible however my table's server was attentive without being overbearing, she knew the menu which was awesome being gluten free and she even split all our bills as well as a menu item between myself and a friend. Solid service. The only complaint is they didn't have a single gluten free cider. Not a one. They had Redd's cider but that's not gluten free. I'd suggest Crispin Original or Angry Orchard Crisp apple. Both can be draft as well.

We love Leo's! Always eat there when we go to Lansing for a cattle show. The cheese bread is really good! It's definitely a place where the locals go. I've had many of their menu items and have never been disappointed.

Bar food, but reasonably good for bar food ;-) The spousal unit and I had a late lunch at Leo's today. I had a burger and the wife had the special, which was fish and chips. I ordered my burger medium well and it came well done, but that's not a biggie - and the deep fryer for the fish could have been a little hotter but the french fries were real potatoes and that was pretty cool. There were about six sandwiches on the menu that caught my eye, service was friendly if a little disorganized and as I mentioned the food was above average for bar food. Leo's is close to my house and I can easily see it being somewhere we'd eat fairly regularly but would I drive across town to eat there? No. All in all I liked the place.

I'm going to keep this short: I used to like this place, but the food is not worth the terrible service. I'm not sure where Leo finds these waitresses. If you're going to eat GFS food, you might as well have someone attentive and friendly serve you. Sorry Leo, I've moved on. You've lost another regular.

Cozy. 5 stars for the cheese bread. 4.5 for the rest if the menu. A must go to when I'm in Lansing. Ate there the other night .....it was still as yummy as ever.

I've only been here once and it was just last week, so I can't comment on a deterioration in service like the former posts. All I know is that when my coworker and I rolled in for lunch, everything exceeded my expectations. Sure, the decor is a little tacky. Why you have moose heads on the walls of a restaurant in an area that has no moose is beyond me. But besides the taxidermy, I liked the feel. Rustic, wooded, but super clean. I also kind of like the weird chairs. I think they're comfy. The menu has a lot of choices and the venison burger - yes, venison burger at a bar - far exceeded my expectations. A half pound of meat on a buttered and grilled roll, smothered in cheese and sauteed onions, all for about $8.50. Good deal. And I appreciated the appetizer choices, like baked potato (which was delish) and steamed veggies. The beer list is subpar, but not everywhere can afford to be adventurous in their tap selection. The service for lunch was average. It certainly wasn't spectacular, but I left with no complaints.

I've eaten and gotten sloshed here several times since the initial review. Good times! The wait staff is usually attentive. The food is good (above average pub fare). The prices are average (about what you would expect for a local watering hole). They are usually busy during sporting events (though they only have a few TVs). They are kid friendly during the day but after dinner they are not, so yes the menu is good for the family during the day. (Same menu after 7ish, just no one under 18 allowed). They do have a pool table. They earned a star based on good experiences and consistency.

Just moved away from Lansing but I'm really going to miss this place. This was my drinking spot with my boys. The waitresses were nice and if you got the right one you might get free shots. $3 happy hour 34 oz mugs also don't hurt. And the food was always good. Steak never failed to satisfied and the cheesy bread, especially after a few brews, always hit the spot. The decor isn't necessarily the best but if you're looking for a place to shoot the shit and have drinks over Leos is awesome.

I am kinda surprised by the previous reviews of Leo's. I love the place! The staff is great. They are all very friendly and more than happy to make great suggestions. I have never had bad service here, even when there is a line out the door. The menu is much better than just your typical bar fare. The pizza is really good, and the cheese bread is sinful. Everyone also raves about their burgers and crab soup...yes, crab soup at the bar! I have also had their veggie rollup and it was delicious. Veg grilled to perfection with a little cheese and spices and yumaroo, I'm sold. The beer selection is decent as well. There is usually a few MI selections which is always nice to see. They have 32oz beers that are like 5 dollars. Yes, a beer mug requiring 2 hands to hold will only set you back a 5-spot! Rock on. Their night'y specials are always good for trying something new and enjoying yourself for a reasonable price. The "lodge" decor is a little tacky, but kinda adds a fun "ooooh, look at that" factor to conversation. Head over to Leo's and have a good time, just be advised, you might have a hard time finding somewhere to park!

The good: Leo's Lodge used to be a really decent place to grab some decent bar food, their pizzas and burgers are typically really good and priced moderately well. The decor is typical of a lodge type eatery and there is plenty of parking. The DJ trivia they used to have was very fun. The bad: Service!! Or shall I say the lack thereof? Nine time out of ten the waitstaff seems to be too distant to care about your needs. The last time we went there we were handed our pizza with no silverware or plates. It appeared to be quite bothersome when we asked for some so we could eat, by the time we got them the pizza was cold! The server also didn't like the way I ordered my margarita so she chose to question me rudely about it. The final straw was when she brought the bill to our table, we had been seated with some people that we didn't know and she had included their bill with ours, when we asked if it could be separated we were surprised on the reaction by the waitress. She rolled her eyes at us and charged off. Needles to say she barely earned the dollar tip we left. Since then, they have dropped the DJ trivia that was every Wednesday and Sunday, which we attended religiously. I assumed that the poor service was driving everyone to go elsewhere because it seemed every night that we went there was less and less people going. Everything has went downhill immensely in the last few months. It's too bad since the awful service and the odd drop of trivia. I'll say that this once treasured gem in Lansing has lost its value. I won't be going back!

Boo for the wretched chairs they make you sit in. It's "lodge" themed, which means everything looks as if it's made out of logs. Turns out, log-shaped objects make poor backrests. The food was fine, and the beer was fine, but it's not my scene. Like a redneck neighborhood bar.

  • Jason P.

An average beer list coupled with strange animals all over the place make for a decent "dive bar" night out. Unlike most dives though, they keep Leo's pretty clean and the food is on par with my expectations. The broccoli cheese bites are pretty freakin' unreal. The venison burger has never come out cooked properly for me, though once you send it back, it usually is par for the course. Mostly though, the appetizers hit the spot and with a pool table in back, you can't go wrong.

Please go to Leo's and order some cheesy bread and a big bud light! Leo's is a great place to go to just hang out with friends and enjoy a good time. I graduated from MSU six years ago but friends and I always make it a point to go to Leo's when we are back in town for an event or football game. Good times are had here!

The burgers at leos lodge are always pretty good... tonight was no dissapointment. The service was friendly and helpful and the atmosphere of the dining room was fun. The rustic look reminds me of some favorite places back home in the upper penninsula of michigan. I also love the option to sit in the outside area during the summer evenings but also the choice of seating in a bar-style interior as well. Leos is usually a regular hang out for myself and some friends with its typically priced beer, but the downfall is the lacking selection. Leos is also great for family dinners....

The restaurant is good, i've visited it various times. The food is very good, the service okay. They need to supervise the people that work in the back, i've seen not great things happening in the back...
