Every time I would pass this place, I humorously thought to myself that it probably smells like a bag of Cheddar & Sour Cream Ruffles inside. The idea of eating at a restaurant named after a cheese didn't sound appetizing to me. Based on other Yelp reviews, I decided to give it a shot. That... and my girlfriend suggested it. Despite the current main photo shown, this place was pretty busy. We were seated right away though. The lighting and atmosphere is very warm and inviting. There is also a big aquarium tank. Our waitress resembled Erin from The Office and was very friendly. Our drinks were served promptly as was our first appetizer. We got the chips and queso with beef. I don't think I've ever had a better serving of chips and cheese. Even the salsa was above average. Looking at the menu, you'll see that the prices are fairly low for such a nice place. Do NOT assume this means small portions. We made that mistake. We shared our meals. I had the New Orleans Pasta which was penne, smoked sausage, chicken, and a cajun alfredo sauce (it comes with shrimp, but I asked for it without). My girlfriend had the steak and chicken strip meal which comes with two sides. The side salad looks common to what you're used to seeing in a side salad, but with good croutons and GOOD ranch. It also comes with a croissant with sweet honey butter drizzled on top. The steak wasn't really big, and I only had one bite, but it was so delicious. The chicken strips were some of the biggest I've seen. We were told that their chicken strip dinner comes with SEVEN strips. Not knowing their portion sizes, we also ordered onion rings. Hand-battered, twice fried, and just yummy. Not greasy at all. I ate one of them and called it quits. They also gave us extra chips since we had extra queso dip left! We left the restaurant totally blasted and still took home 4 containers of food that will probably feed us for another day or two. Definitely going back again!

Have always enjoyed the Buffalo chicken wraps. Got them today and they were wet, runny and sloppy. They were loosely rolled and the ends were left open and untucked. Did not notice this till i picked one up and it fell apart in my hand and everything in it slide out the backside. Couldnt pick others up because they fell apart. I was in a hurry so i ate them with a fork as and spoon. Told waitress about it when she came back. She scrunched up her face and said "I have heard that a lot lately" Then walked away. This place is really getting hit or miss.

We were hungry after some shopping and decided to give this place a try. We usually eat out at small, family-owned ethnic or pizza. It was our first visit, and we did not know what to expect. We waited about 10 minutes to be seated at around 8 p.m. We had no problems with the service, and the food was surprisingly delicious considering how reasonably priced it is. I had the chicken and waffles with a side of red beans and rice. My wife had the turkey club with steamed broccoli. This was a great value. Based on this experience, we will return.

Waiting.... Waiting.... Waiting.... We were told 30 minutes... 1 hour 30 minutes later ten of us jammed ourselves into a large both. There are only 2 table for large partys. Food was good. Would not recommend for large parties.

I'm having a hard time deciding between 1 or 2 stars on this one.. Cheddar's is a very consistent restaurant! That normally is a good thing.. but in this case, it's not. Expect bad service. Every time. I don't know why, but they can never get things right. Your appetizer will come out with your meal, if it comes out at all. They will remember to bill you for it though.

They were kind, attentive, and extremely courteous. I love Cheddars!!!

We drove 3 hours just to go to this Cheddar's since it is the closest to us, originally finding Cheddar's in Savannah GA. The Nachos and Onion Rings are great and affordable. We got the same item as we did before, next time we will try something else. At this location the wait staff was a little slow, not horrible. I also think they need a bigger dessert menu, very inviting atmosphere though!

I go to Cheddars sometimes twice a week because my teen daughter is hooked on it. Great chicken strips! Usually the dinner is really good. The steak varies from order to order. Sometimes you get one that's really fatty or not cooked to order. I get take-out a lot, and last night I ordered the steak & chicken strip platter. They open it for you to see and approve, which is nice, and I noticed - no chicken! Oops somebody goofed. But didn't wait long and they came back with 4 huge strips instead of 3. The staff at the bar who handle take-out are friendly and work hard, they are often pulled in several directions at once, so there may be a bit of a wait. I love the interior: stone, wood and plants. But not a lot of soft surfaces, so the place resonates with noise. The fish tank is really beautiful. Cheddars remains a family favorite. Reasonable prices, mostly really great food, big portions, and a wonderful dessert called Cookie Monster. Try it, you will love it.

I had been to Cheddars two years ago and then went again this past week. I thought it was great! It is very reasonably priced. We didn't have to wait for a table and the fries were unbelievably crispy. This might become one of my new favorite places to eat!! Also, they have a very large (200-300gal) fish tank with African cichlids for all you fish lovers out there. Oh, and its a non-smoking restaurant!!!

It's a chain. But it's a nice chain that serves cheap, good, consistent food. I am a huge fan of the monte cristo sandwich and the chicken fingers (especially with the waffles, yum!). The service can be a bit spotty but the people are usually friendly.

We go to Cheddar's for a quick, easy dinner. I will agree with the other posts that the service can be pretty bad. We've had a drink spilled on us (with profuse apologies, a very embarrassed waitress, and an offer to have the shirt dry-cleaned). They often don't time the food well, so you get your salad and then five minutes later the entrees arrive and you've had no time to enjoy your salad. Small things like giving us napkins and silverware occasionally get overlooked. But sometimes we get really great service. I think it really depends on the waiter you get - their staff is all pretty young. Despite service issues, the food really is great. We LOVE the chips and queso - chips are perfectly made, salsa is sweet and yummy and the queso comes with beef at no added cost. The chicken tenders are delicious - very crispy. The have amazing ranch dressing - people who know their ranch know there's good ranch and bad ranch, and they have the good stuff. Salads are yummy too. The tilapia with mango salsa is also a good choice. As the reviews below stated, don't get the Spasagna. It's just bad. The drink menu has lots of options and is very reasonable. I like the Pomegranate Martini, which I think is $5.50. Plus, they have a full bar. If you're on the west-side, I highly recommend giving it a try to see for yourself. There usually isn't much of a wait.

Problem #1 - We called in & they would not set aside a table for a LARGE party (of 12) so we waited 45 minutes. Problem #2 - Despite the fact they knew we were a big party (while we waited) they failed to mention they wouldn't seat us together so our party ended up being separated anyway. I had the Spasagna which is fettucine alfredo with neat sauce ontop - but my fettucine was a frozen block so it went home w. me & the dog ate it (after I defrosted it for her). Their service was OK but I would rather go to Bennigan's for this type of food/price

Tonight was our second visit to Cheddar's. Despite feeling silly going to a restaurant called Cheddar's, we have had good, quick service, and decent food both times. The restaurant is nicer than I'd expect. The waiters don't wear flair. But, oh well. Can't win 'em all. I have had the Steak & Tender combo, the Chicken and Waffles, and the homemade red beans and rice. I'd eat any of them again, but was most impressed with their chicken; the batter is great. Their honey butter croissants are also good. My wife wasn't too impressed with her Chicken Alfredo tonight, but I don't think she's ever been impressed with Chicken Alfredo...so, that's a wash. Prices are pretty low all around. Also, they have a cool ceiling fan. Of all the corporate places in the area, this is the only one we don't avoid.

I used to like this place but my recent experience here was not good. It began immediately when I sat down in the booth and my hand set down on some food crumb that hadn't been cleaned up. I looked over and could see oily spots on the seat. They clearly did not clean the seats. I complained to the waitress and she did not apologize. She said she'd have it taken care of. No one ever came to clean the seat and she never asked if it had been taken care of. Next, she takes the order, fish tacos and two sides. When I get the order I only receive one side. She immediately tells me that I only get one side with the order and if I wanted the green beans it would be extra. Would have been nice to know that at the time of the order since I'd have preferred the beans over the fries. The fish tasted good but was lean on the slaw. I've had the fish tacos here before and it used to have more slaw.... it was mostly fish and sauce. After we got the food, we didn't see the waitress again until we finished the meal. I never got a refill on the water and had to ask for one. Also, after paying for the meal and signing the credit slip, we stayed another 10 mins or so chatting. The waitress picked up the pay slip and we hadn't even left yet. I've been to a lot of restaurants and that is the first time that happened, which seems very rude. It's unfortunate but I won't be back here. I used to like this place.

We usually go for lunch....order side salads and onion rings. Best stuff ever! In all the years, only a few times have we encountered poor service, BUT the manager steps right in to fix it. The GREAT onion rings bring us back every time~

RUN. GO ELSEWHERE. NOW!!! As you can read from my previous review, this place used to be great! No so much now. I will admit the food is great but having to deal with the service and waitstaff is simply awful! The last four times we have been here have been so bad. Slow service, forgotten appetizers and no attempt to make things better. At this point, I'll NEVER go back!

Great food, great service, great atmosphere. I went for lunch and was seated right away. I had the Tilapia on Rice which was delicious. The edamame appetizer was great with the soy sauce and dipping spice. The portobello sandwich was also delectable. I'd certainly go back.

This place is the Lansing areas best kept secret. The food is fantastic. Mostly made fresh on site. Portions are big, and the prices are very reasonable. The atmosphere and service are great. The coffee is a special treat, and in my oppinion the best in town. Great for a date night, a family outing, or small group.

Very very good! Super friendly wait staff! Chef was a great guy who came to our table when they were out of New Orleans Pasta to apologize and suggest other entree which was VERY good! Steaks and burgers are great and chicken pot pie was far better then any other place! We have a group here on a business trip and we've been going every night! Prices are a steal!

Wow what great food had the talapia and the wife got ribs and streak. The fish was well seasoned perfectly. On top of very yummy rice. We wish we had one close to us we would be there all the time.

I've been visiting this place since I was a kid, before they rebuilt the new one:) I love their food and you can't beat it for the prices. However, their customer service STINKS! I ordered take out one day and the bartender we dealt with was super rude and sarcastic with my husband and I. I won't go into detail, but it was bad enough that we did let the manager know and he pretty much denied that the bartender would say such a thing and insisted she must have been joking...Mind you we don't know the bartender girl from Sally, but anywho... It actually irritated me so that I made a complaint to the company online and never heard anything back. So whatever you do just don't expect great service, or you may be dissapointed.

I've been here a few times. It's basically very similiar to an Applebees but I prefer the food here. It is also priced a little lower than Applebees. Service has been above average on all three visits. There is a seperate bar area from the main dining area. They run some pretty good drink specials too. I recommend it for a casual dining lunch or dinner.

Came here with my boyfriend on a random whim, so glad that we did! Excellent prices for good food, and a great atmosphere. Definitely had the decor of a higher class place. Plus they had the food channel on along with sports channels...good move, it made me hungry!

Loved our food and so did our kids. The table next to us had a problem with their food and the head chef came out to talk with them. Wow ... that was impressive! p.s. The Texas tea was awesome!

Cheddar's! Yum! This is an inexpensive, traditional American restaurant. You get large portions and free refills. There will be a party in your mouth after you take your first bite. Get ready! They serve items such as Pot Roast, Chicken, Salmon, Steak, salads, and a variety of appetizers. The drink menu is extensive. For desert, you must try the Cookie Monster!! This is a large chocolate chip cookie, fresh out of the oven, topped with a scoop of ice cream, hot fudge, whip cream, sprinkles, with a cherry on top! This is what heaven must be like!

Took a big crowd there today, who are mostly vegetarians. We had great food. We also were impressed with the low prices. I had an Asian salad minus the chicken. Very tasty and little bit spicy but I could've asked for no dressing. Someone enjoyed their fried chicken and smashed potatoes. Another person was having the mashed potato soup but found out they had bacon in it and send it back. Several took vegetable plants and enjoyed them. Others had some sandwiches that were delicious. Waiter was very helpful. Atmosphere very nice. Very accommodating.

We have been to Cheddars several times. Often we have to wait from 15 minutes to an hour, so i was surprised today when we were seated immediately. They have always had good food and service in the past, but today's visit was disappointing. We waited over 1/2 hour for our food and when my order came it was not complete. It took 15 minutes to get the remainder of my items. Our waiter basically ignored us, never refilling our drinks or checking to see how our meal was. I will definitely not be going back to cheddars any time soon.

We drove to cheddars for the very first time today. I can honestly say I had an extremely pleasant experience. I love how they have a lunch portion in case you don't want a full meal after trying everything else. We tried a couple of the potato soup, and it was perfect. We also tried the appetizer or cheese pieces, and they are excellent. They have great ranch dressing which makes it even better! I tried the salmon lunch portion at dinner time, how cool is that? I got my choice of two sides which I got steamed broccoli, which was perfect, & I also got delicious mashed potatoes. Next time I want to try the macaroni and cheese it looked really good. My girlfriend got the homemade chicken tender basket. And it was absolutely perfect. I was honestly really surprised of how good everything was. The bathrooms are clean, the wait staff was amazing, and drinks were refilled promptly. She checked in on us all the time, she was definitely a great waitress. I will definitely be back even though it is over an hour drive. I am curious to try the other things there. If you like salmon definitely get their salmon, because like I said it was cooked to perfection. Maybe next time I will try a black hand, but this time I got it glazed. You will not regret it here, love this place one of my favorites.

The food is decent for a chain and the croissants are tasty but the service left some to be desired. Why can't wait staff/kitchen/restaurants get this simple part right: Salads before entrees. Give people enough time to eat their salads. If the people received their salad 2 minutes ago and you're scrambling to find space to put the entrees on the table but there's no room because of everyone's salad dishes, you're doing it wrong. Anyways, the place is a chain so it pretty much is what it is. Some people might not like the chicken tenders, they're battered pretty heavily and are super crispy. It's fine for me but maybe others not so much. I can't think of any other things that stand out good or bad.

I'm local and eat here once every couple months. I just want to say out of everywhere I've ever been, this place has the best onion rings I have ever had. It is the main reason I go here, specifically for them. I recommend trying everything else on the menu too, the portion sizes are large and some of the best food I've had comes from this place, including the country fried steak and chicken wraps.
