huge outdoor patio that is pretty neat. menu is legitimately irish themed which is a very good thing - often you go to 'irish' bars that just serve bar food, but this is not the case here! we had lamb sliders and beef pie and both were great. The beer selection is intense! so many, and they alphabetize it which is helpful! service was good as well. definitely would return.

I would be lying if I told you the decision to try out Gallagher's wasn't because of their extensive beer selection. However, their Irish charm, hybrid menu, and friendly staff definitely was appreciated upon arrival. The food looked really great and tasted decent, I wouldn't say what we ordered was the bees knees, though. The redskin mash was heavy on the garlic, the steak was average, and I felt the cheese steak sandwich I requested "diablo style" was so spicy that it ended up being difficult to actually taste the steak. On the plus side (no pun intended), the green beans were deliciously crunchy and their pub fries were uniquely shaped and fry-tastic. Disclaimer on Gallagher's behalf, "diablo style" is described as blackened and served with jalepenos. Based on that, I take full responsibility for getting myself in to that spicy situation. I'm all for spicy, but I learned my lesson. Next time, I will be ordering it lightly blackened. A quick comment on the place mats resting in all of the booths, I felt the leather slabs looked a bit heavy and all of them seemed to be fraying. I'd be fine without them! We didn't sit out in the patio, but I kind of wish we did! The outdoor seating looks incredibly cozy and the private fences keeps the distractions on Stadium Drive at bay... Seems like a lovely space back there. Beer time! Gallagher's definitely lives up to having an extensive beer list. I'd say what makes them stand out is their selection of imported bottles vs, what's actually on tap. The prices were pretty average. The beer bible seems to be categorized by name of beer and then repeated in alphabetical order by style, so don't get confused like we did! Overall, not a bad experience.

Homemade BBQ sauce was excellent! Service was friendly, thanks Ericka!. Food was all great. Had cobb salad, chicken tenders with bbq sauce, and buffalo chicken wrap. We will be back!

I am at Gallagher's right now. I'm in a group of 40 that prearranged to have a big group dinner here. It took an hour and a half to get someone to take our orders. However, 6 people at one of our tables (at a table of 8) ordered right away and finished eating an hour ago. We had to go to the bar to even order a beer because no one even came and said hello to us.

We love this place! We occasionally come to Kalamazoo for business. Last year we stumbled upon gallagher's while staying at the Stsybridge behind it. We are hooked! They have tasty food, and an awesome beer selection! We now make it a point to come here every time we come to Kalamazoo!

This place is decent, but not great. The GOOD: They have an incredible selection of beers. Just make sure if it's a beer you haven't heard of and are trying out that you ask what the price is first. My mother-in-law ordered a peach beer and was shocked at the end to find it was $14 per bottle. The BAD: Their menus need a MASSIVE makeover, they're all made from Microsoft Word printouts with terrible photos that make their menu items look un-eatable. Their food is OK. It's very average. Don't pay $20 for the NY Strip steak which is as good as you could make it at home seasoned with salt and pepper.

This is a great Kalamazoo staple. FIrst of all, make sure you check out the "beer bible." They might have one of the largest selections of bottled beer that I have ever seen. They have mug club and have half off all bottled beers on Mondays which is a great deal because they have amazing beers from all around the world. They have great grub including my personal favorite here.. the ribs. Great standby place to go in the Kzoo area for sure.

I used to love Gallagher's, even as recent as 4 months ago. I am of Scottish-Irish background and my family and I really enjoyed the food and beer selection. My father even said he was so thrilled to enjoy an Irish dish and was looking forward to the next time he visited. However in the last 3 months I have been several times, and noticed many changes. The management seems to have changed (not owners). One Sunday I showed up over an hour after they were to open, and the doors were still closed. Other people were also waiting. Finally a manager showed up and referenced they were "going through changes". The next time I went was late on a Saturday with friends in town. They were quiet but not especially dead. It was 10:30pm and although they remain open for much later, everything we ordered food wise we were told we could not have as the kitchen staff had left. We settled on french fries and the waitress say "I can do that". The waitress was unaware of whisky and scotch drinks available. It was so very strange despite them sitting on the shelf. She only offered 2 options. Finally I went on St. Patrick's day for lunch with a friend in town. We had heard they were busy from morning to night, with many specials. After all they serve real Irish food and are decked out with Irish decorations. We were disappointed to learn they were running NO specials, food or drink. We both settled upon a meat pie sandwich, which sadly was filled instead with fatty parts of bacon that you could not chew and very little beef. After asking I was told the owners have been making many changes. Including reducing the options on the menu. Perhaps the most disappointing thing to learn is the plan to reduce their beer menu which they are famously known for from 400 plus beers to 100 beers. You got the sense they are misdirected and are attempting to challenge other sports bars in the area. I'm terribly disappointed as Gallagher's was great once. I hope they realize what they have lost, or have Restaurant Makeover come in to help out. Keep the Irish flare and specials, dump the extra crappy sports bar appetizers! Otherwise they will be out of business within the year.

Amazing beer selection. I could spend all day there. Had the classic Reuben and it was really tasty. Corned beef sliced really thin & Russian dressing good. Would be 5 stars if it had more meat. I am a New Yorker ya know

*batman 2.0/4.0 beers As Tuesday night was giving way, a search was put out for that elusive "transition" bar...you know, the one last stop that is going to cap off your night and make you feel unashamed to go home. Well I'm not sure where I was taken to, but with half price pitchers, this should have been the night's initiation rather than commencement. The crowd was sparse with the exception of some overweight 30 year-olds attempting to hit on some much-too-young Western students. If you hit this place on a night with a decent crowd and the right attitude, it would be worth the time...although that statement could be made with most bars...2 beers. *captain ron 3.0/4.0 beers Gallagher's is another bar/eatery in which I plan to totally ignore the eatery bit and skip right to drinks. Upon entry, I notice the large bar itself - decked out in elaborate wood trim. There isn't much going on aside from one group of girls celebrating a birthday, and the aforementioned group of opportunistic older men. Despite a beer list that's 4+ pages long, I go with a pitcher of Newcastle as it's on special. Halfway through my first glass, I finally looked out the window and notice a small beer-garden(ish) patio outside. Nice. I also notice a waitresses floating around wearing tight shorts and stockings. Very nice. I'm torn on this one. If you want to set your liver afloat upon a cesspool of cheap domestics and kamikazes, this place will only keep your interest for so long. If you want to enjoy rare beer, stick around. *qclown 3.0/4.0 beers At first, Gallagher's is ten times more like an Applebee's than a bad-ass pub. However, a few selections from the pub's biggest asset (its substantial international beer list) will enhance the rather mundane interior settings in a hour or so. German, Belgian, Irish, Mexican, and Asian beers that are fairly hard to find in Kzoo (outside of Tiffany's and Waldo's) and the patio in the summer-time make Gallagher's worth at least a stop. Did I mention that Burger King and Macka's (McDonald's) are both within walking distance? I definitely took advantage of this. 20 McNuggies anyone? That bumps the rating up half a beer to a 3. Only thing better would be a Shawarma King... The numbers: Total McNuggets ordered after visiting Gallagher's: 20 theKalamabooze.com

We come here several times a year, and today I was disappointed to see that the menu had been greatly reduced and one of my favorite things was missing - bye, bye, bangers and mash. The food has always been above average, and was still that today, but the service was terrible. Our soups came right out, but we waited about 1/2 hour for everything else for lunch, and there were only maybe a dozen people in the bar area. Several others - who came in way after us - got their food first. Not good. I will be back, but the service better improve. They also way overcharge for some beverages: $2 for an iced tea, and no refills. I'm afraid they have not changed for the better.

The food was not very good. My fish didn't taste like it was done or fresh. (I ordered the fish and chips.) Everything was covered in grease. I know it's an Irish themed place but it didn't strike me as Irish. Just because you go dark and smoky does not mean you are Irish. Worst of all, I spent the night after eating there getting very sick. The beer list is great but not worth feeling like death. I'm also putting it's not wheelchair accessible because they were not maintaining their ramp into the facility. It was covered in snow and ice.

I was just in the Kalamazoo area visiting family and friends. We decided to meet at Gallager's. The staff was very friendly and attentive. Just as important... they had a huge variety of beer, wine, and cocktail options. They actually have a beer book! I didn't eat but the menu had a lot to choose from. The prices were reasonable and they offered specials. I would go back and recommend this establishment to anyone who wants a casual atmosphere to throw back some drinks.

This place has a great beer menu with a good selection of imported bottles and domestic micros brews. Everything is pretty reasonably priced. Gallagher's has great burgers too and live music on occasion. This is a Kalamazoo favorite for me.

Great place to hang out! My British boyfriend was very impressed by the huge beer list. Reasonable prices and also when we went all bottled drinks were 50% off (so they ranged from about $2-$7). Great cider on tap. Delicious appetizers! We'll be back.

We sat in the bar area. It's a large bar area with several TVs. At the time, they were all tuned to various sporting events. The room is dark and has a kitschy feel to it (it's made to look like an old-time neighborhood bar. A "phone book" sized list of beers to choose from. The burgers are good (they come in 1/3 and 1/2 pound sizes). For those with a smaller appetite, there are burger bites (smaller, bite sized burgers). The room was smoky. There is a restaurant area adjacent to the bar as well.
