Apparently they like to break the law as THEY ALLOW SMOKING. I'm not sure how they get away with this and have for years apparently. If I had known, I wouldn't have wasted time or lungs. It appeared that who I suspect was the owner was even smoking. We only stayed for one beer and had to wash our clothes and shower when we got home. Too bad, it seems like a cool little bar. Sadly, we will never go back to this little piece of hell. If you value your lungs, stay away!

Love the vibe, sound, and friendly bartenders. However they ripped me off by over charging my debit on a tab-- and failed to remedy the situation despite admittance of error, and several phone calls over a months time. So bring CASH. Sorry, two stars as a result.

New Dodge Lounge loses a star because my favorite pair of glasses died in their bathroom. Probably their fault. It was definitely the fluorescent lighting. It's a nice, clean, spacious bar with good concerts every now and again. It has a second floor where you can sit and watch music, and the first floor has a nice pool table. This is easily one of my favorite Bar/Venues in Hamtramck. Sometimes it reminds me of an old saloon, which is a nice thing to be reminded of.

Cheap drinks, great loft. We got there about 9:30 on a Saturday and it was dead. Maybe more of a latenight stop. Big stage, I'd like to see a show there - from the loft.

Hamtramck is an enigma to me. It is such a diverse neighborhood, with so many wonderful businesses (Yemeni, Bosnian, Macedonian...), and yet the bar scene seems either full of hipsters, or, as I saw at New Dodge, the most depressing smokers. It reminds me of the nosebleed section of a Red Wings game. I would have given 1 or 2 stars, but the service is pretty amazing and the drinks are cheap.

This place is okay. The sound quality is better than other venues but they rarely have good bands playing. sometimes they'll charge cover and that's just ridiculous. the Belmont does that shit too and that pisses me off because I do not carry cash. The local girls that hang out in the pool room will try to start a fight with you and then rape you in the alley but other than that it's a typical bar.

The first time I went to New Dodge Lounge was to see The Gepetto Files. The venue is perfect for shows, especially if you can snag a table with your friends up on the loft to look down at the stage. The venue is fun and spacious and the staff is extremely friendly. I'd go into more detail, but their long island's were so incredibly strong that any other necessary details are pretty fuzzy. In other news, that is a good thing and made for a very happy bar night/live music experience.

I like the red bus outside, and the matching red neon sign. I like that there's a Checkers right across the street for some eats and if it's nice you can sit outside on one of their tables and hear music from the New Dodge across Joseph Campau. New Dodge itself doesn't serve food apart from salty snacks in foil bags but it seems like fairly frequently there's a picnic type buffet in large rectangular foil containers that folks like me can mooch in on. I haven't figured out any rhyme or reason as to how or when mystery food will show up which is too bad since half the time I've got a belly full of Checkers. That back room also used to have a Ms. Pacman/Galaga machine, which I only discovered gone my last visit and I already sorely miss. I think they have pinball and Keno and some other coin operated gadget but I can only clearly envision the Keno. The others are just non-early 80s-Atari-things. They sometimes get some pretty good musical acts for a smaller joint. Cover tends to be reasonable, too. I once saw Eddie Kirkland, one of John Lee Hooker's original bandmates, play for 2 and a half hours here. Dude was 83 years old and touring the nation in a late 70s yellow station wagon with wood panelling. Last night I saw George Morris and the Gypsy Chorus play as part of the last night of the Metro Times Blowout. They've clearly listened to a lot if T Rex and that's a very good thing. It's kind of a small area between the bar and the stage to check out a band. I much prefer the second floor indoor veranda, although sometimes randomly and for no apparent reason they have it closed off. It really bums me out when they do that. Andrea the bartender is extra awesome. The other barkeeps are fine by me, too. I just only know them as people who sell me Red Bull, cranberry juice and the occasional salty snack. The crowd ranges from people who have been around the scene long enough to recoil from the word "hipster" to depressed-seeming Hamtown locals. (And now that I think of it, there is some overlap to those 2 categories.) They also have a large trippy mural on the side of the building that's worth a look and maybe a snap. And I think some dude I work with hosts a karaoke night, but I'm hazy on that just like the non-Ms. Pacman/Galaga game(s) cause it really ain't my thing.

The number one miss on this place for me, is they allow smoking inside. And on a crowded night especially, the whole place is just an uncomfortable smoke bomb inside and I leave with clothes, purse and hair reeking. Not my idea of a good time. Other than that....there's a couple pool tables in back, a stage where live rock bands frequently play. It's loud, and rough around the edges. There are plenty of people in Hamtramck and the surrounding areas that are looking for precisely what New Dodge is offering, but at my age I'm no longer one of them. I'll leave this place to the rocker kids, but I'll steer clear.

Love this place. Esther hosts stand up comedy open mic every other Tuesday and Maria the winner always makes us great food. Cheap $2 beers and a great Hamtramck bar to hang with friends

Such an odd little place. Nothing but well liquor (and maybe a handle of Jack). Good beers on tap. Everything is served in plastic cups. A locals bar that is littered with hep cats and eclectic music. Strangely clean, but also kind of empty feeling on slow nights. It's a nice space (exposed brick and hardwood floors if I remember correctly). It seems to have character but not atmosphere (even with the cigarette smoke). Then again, the whole place might change on busier and later nights. No complaints, but it doesn't make my heart-throb list either.

Bring your cigarettes. Cathy Gordon, former city councilwoman and mayoral candidate, smokes like a chimney in her bar.

Decent place, but the owners and staff smoke and permit smoking inside. I don't want lung cancer, not to mention burning eyes. Unacceptable to break the law and be disrespectful of the public.

First off; the SMOKING. Honestly, there was a law put in effect for a reason and they clearly just don't give a damn lol. Second; The bartender (longer dark blonde hair) is rude. The drinks were terribly mixed (cranberry & vodka and gin & tonic) shouldn't be that hard to make.... And the food supposedly stops being served at 9 pm yet we came at 8:30 and it was cleaned up before then. The only good part was the music lol.
