I have been meaning to walk in here for a long time and finally did tonight. It is basically a take out place with salads, sandwiches, pastas, and daily specialty entrees. I got the five onion soup and it was awesome. Also tried the Cajun pasta with shrimp and chorizo. How bad could it be? Their menu had a lot of good looking stuff on it, I'll have to come back. Also, they had some killer looking deserts in the case... Next time!

Josef’s European Pastry Shop

21150 Mack Ave
Grosse Pointe, 48236
Reviews:
Amazing little cafe. Has great pastries, croissants, cakes, macaroons, and much more. Few small tables to enjoy your coffee in a nice atmosphere. The time I was there, there were a group of pleasant old European men that seemed to be having a blast. Perhaps regulars. Friendly staff. Great location. I will be back many times and highly recommend to others.
A European pastry shop with Montreal owners. It looks like your typical European pastry shop and café. I like it. There are many people working behind the counter eager to help. However, I was so side-tracked by the 3 free samples they had out (um YUM! 3!!!) that I had a hard time even looking at what was inside the display case. And let me tell you these were hearty samples. The two coffee cakes were quite good, not memorable, but oh my that stollen! Best part of my trip here. -Chocolate Almond Croissant: It's crispy, more so than flaky. There's definitely a hint of marzipan which meshes perfectly with the decadent, moist chocolate interior. And finally, a chocolate interior that actually has a lot of chocolate and oozes a bit. It's nice, but not amazing. -Stollen (loaf-shaped cake with dried fruit, sugar, powdered sugar and icing): delicious just the right amount of marzipan that makes it not dry--at all. I normally find myself drinking bucket loads of water after consuming stollen but this is super moist and I loved the pieces of fruit throughout. Yum. FINAL VERDICT: It's a great spot with freshly baked goods. It'd be nice to spend an afternoon here and indulge in the quiches and other pastries.
About three weeks of living in the area, I still hadn't found a really good cup of coffee, so I was very excited to spot this place while running errands. When I drove by, it was a Sunday morning and there were a bunch of people inside, presumably many on their way to church, judging by the way they were dressed. A few days later, when I was able to stop in, there were no other patrons except for me (and my little girls). The woman behind the counter was really sweet and helpful. The girls ordered cookies and I got a cappuccino and almond croissant. Thanks be to God, the cappuccino was delicious. The almond croissant was better than the ones at San Francisco's La Boulange shops (which recently got bought out by Starbucks). Buttery and flaky with a creamy filling that wasn't too custard-like (which I don't like) and not too sweet. Just the right amount of almond flavor. It's not really the kind of place where you grab a coffee to go, but I'll definitely pop in whenever I'm in need of a good cup.

The Jagged Fork

Reviews:
Everytime I go here the food is delicious and the waitstaff is awesome! I gave it 4/5 stars because if you pay the extra money to get fresh squeezed orange juice it's warm. They claim this is normal but I've never been anywhere where it's that warm. Put the oranges in the fridge!!!
Went for a late breakfast with my boyfriend on a Sunday and it was not busy because they were getting ready to close. I ordered the huevos rancheros and my boyfriend ordered the voodoo. These dishes were good, however they were a little bland. I wanted my dish to have a little more flavor. It definitely was spicy! My boyfriend wished his had a little bit more flavor too! It was like they were missing something. We will definitely try it out again though!
The Jagged Fork is my neighborhood's new brunch spot and I must say it does not disappoint! The headline of this review? "Why wait for a table at Original Pancake House?! You can have delicious quality just down Mack!" My husband and I were very pleased to have an experience on par with OPH but with faster service and wonderful, attentive waitstaff. We waited maybe 4 minutes for a table. We had two waters at the table before we even sat down. Our waitress was knowledgeable and nice. Our food was out in less than five minutes and we went at 10 am on SATURDAY. AND I HAD A CUSTOM ORDER. THAT IS FAST. Okay, I'll stop yelling now. But the food, Lauren, the food! I stuck with a heart-healthy scrambled egg white option that was tasty and my husband ordered a 3x3 omelet that he thoroughly enjoyed. We oggled the pancake options but felt it was a touch too early for dessert. The table next to us had some young girls digging in to an Oreo pancake and they looked very pleased. Afterall, it was the size of their head. If I had to note anything it would be that the coffee, while quickly and generously refilled, tasted a little burnt and my husband said his hashbrowns had a good taste but a weird texture... which I agree with. They were grainy and mushy inside, crisp outside. But really, now I'm being nitpicky. Overall, very very good. Go!

Ferlito’s Family Dining & Pizza Parlor

Reviews:
Food's a bit pricey but you get decent portion sizes and everything I've ever had from here has been pretty good. Potato skins are alright, gnocchi is really good, Sicilian sampler that comes with ravioli, spaghetti, lasagna, and Italian sausage is good but the sausage is always I bit too tangy for my taste. Delivery takes awhile but so order about an hour in advance of when you think you may want to actually eat. Overall, a pretty solid Italian food option for the area. We've tried most and Ferlito's is only 1 of 2 that we frequent. Salvatore Scallopini being the other.
Great family run place. Kid friendly. Had the white pizza with spinach and it was amazing. My wife and mother-in-law had the normal pizza and loved it. Complimentary fresh Italian bread. We'll definitely come back!
Excellent Italian food! I am a veggie and ordered the vegetarian lasagna and it was great! Service was good and waiter was fairly attentive. Huge portion, too, which I just finished up for lunch. Salad bar was good--just enough to add to my dinner, without being overwhelming. Didn't have the soup because it was not vegetarian but my husband said it was good. Hubbie pronounced the veal parmesan very good and he is a veal parmesan-aholic, so that is saying something. Nice wine and beer selection, too. Prices were very reasonable--13.95 for my huge "slab" of veggie lasagna, salad bar, and soup if I had wanted it. Wish I had left room for pie because the lemon meringue looked awesome...alas, I will just have to return (what a hardship, lol).

SideStreet Diner

Great food and even better service! Patty melt and biscuits and gravy were a couple of my favorites. Has the feel of a small town diner that's comfortable and inviting. Even though I don't work in Grosse Pointe I would make the trip to the SideStreet Diner. The cupcakes and other baked goods are amazing as well.
I was all bent out of shape when this place stopped being Clairpointe, but it turns out I like Side Street Diner better anyway. Try the Tuna Melt
It is rare that I can say that I have frequented a restaurant as many times as I have the Side Street Diner. With working in Grosse Pointe and living nearly an hour away, I needed a place to get dinner almost twice a week every week. I can say that I have never had a bad meal. When talking with the owner, she stated she makes sure everything is made fresh. The burgers are great, and you have the option of building your own. The dinners are a bit large, so be prepared to either split the meal, or get a box for home. There menu is quite varied, so there are too many things to point out in this short review. The daily specials are your best bet - everything from Irish dishes to Steak Oscar. The soup selection is quite large, typically 6-8 different kinds. The in house made cakes and desserts are quite good as well. As a diner, it is top notch for your everyday meal and comfort food. (The one time I had breakfast it was fantastic as well.) Unfortunately, there are a lot of high end restaurants in the Grosse Pointe area, and this restaurant will be compared to them. To me, this is apples and oranges - if you are looking for well-prepared, day-to-day food, this is for you. If you are looking for elegant cuisine, this is not for you-go on the Hill in GP Farms.

Uncle Paul’s Pizza

21215 Mack Ave
Grosse Pointe, 48236
Reviews:
My fiance and I always seem to eat at the same 5 or 6 places around town. This year we are making an effort to eat someplace new whenever we go out. Tonight we tried Uncle Paul's Pizza. They have both round and square pizza to choose from. We tried both a round and a square tonight. The round was very good. It's a thinner crust, not like a think an crispy at Domino's or Howie's, but not as think as their regular pizza's either, somewhere in the middle. I also liked that they didn't over sauce either pie. I hate biting into a piece of pizza and having a bunch of sauce spill off onto my plate, or worse yet my lap. We got onion and green peppers on the round and they were fresh vegetables chopped in house. I would rate the round 4 stars. The square was was OK, not the best I've ever had, but not bad at all. I will say that I LOVE Jets pizza when it comes to square, I think it's the gold standard and I compare all square pizza to it. The square, much like the round had the perfect amount of sauce and cheese. We got peperoni and mild pepper rings. The peperoni was not quite a crunchy as they seem to get at Jets, but it was good. I would probably rate the square 3 stars. So all in all, that would rate out to 3.5 stars, but since we can't give half stars here I had to decide what direction to go, and as you can see I decided to round it up to 4 stars, and I'm SURE you are all wondering why! My fiance really liked the square pizza, so knowing everyone has different tastes, I gave it a bump closer to 4. The fact they use fresh ingredients, and don't over sauce the pizza gave the overall score a bump as well. Finally, it's not a chain, so that get's them over the top to a 4 star rating.
if you like a pizza that is not heavy on the cheese with quality toppings at a fair price delivery is available this is a solid choice not too saucy or cheesy the best thing I can tell you is that I would order it again
High quality! Very fresh ingredients! Love the square pizza and the Cajun cheesy breadsticks!

Food is always good! Never takes a long time to get your food. Bagels are yum! Staff is very nice. Do have to say, the layout of the place is a bit awkward. Especially trying to get your drink! But doesn't take away from the yumminess of everything.
Consistently great. They do bagels better than the 2 other bagel shops they are neighbors with.

Marge’s Bar

15300 Mack Ave
Grosse Pointe, 48230
Reviews:
I have recently begun eating meat again after a two year stint as a vegetarian, and the burger here was everything I wanted it to be! It was done perfectly and the fries were delicious. Nothing beats a cold beer, a burger and fries!
Marge's is located a few blocks from my home, so I ducked in their after a weekend getaway to watch the 2nd period of the Wings/Blackhawks playoffs, as this is supposedly the hockey bar! No understatement as the moderate sized Monday night crowd were all glued to the TVs. I may have been the only person to notice the place has probably not been remodeled since they opened some 40 years ago. Nor have the smoke stained ceiling tiles been replaced, even though Michigan banned public smoking 3 years ago. Marges is the perfect place to grab a beer and enjoy typical bar food. Nothing more and nothing less. I wouldn't hestitate to return there with my sports loving friends, but would never bring a date there ( I have yet to date a Red Wings fan! ). The patty melt was fine, although the cook could use a beefier style of rye bread and the onion rings were tasty, batter dipped, not breadcrumbs, and home style I believe, not frozen.
Great perch sandwich and salad on the patio. Excellent service. A nice addition to Kercheval in the Park.

Pretty standard Coldstone experience. I docked a star because the only thing that can be inconsistent at times is the staff.. I'm hesitant to single out people because I go here often, but let's just say some staff members are more efficient/friendly than others (and adept at handling long lines) and some staff members are also more generous than others ;)))). Will update the review once I've tried Sanders next door to give my two cents on the best ice cream in The Village/The Hill.
