Healthy Meal suggestions for Cracker Barrel

First time I've ever been disappointed in a Cracker Barrel. If I were scoring on this visit alone I would give it 3 out of 5, not 4. To start, my husband and I both walk with canes. The hostess seated us at a table which was, literally, along the furthest wall from the greeters' stand. The restaurant was only about half full and she walked us past vacant table after vacant table, stopping along the way because she had to wait for us to catch up. Umm...young lady, canes + disabled old folks = SLOW...how about not taking us to the next county. The fare was not up to par, either: * For my "frozen mug" apple cider, the mug was room temp and the apple cider was as only as cold as I would expect if I were to pull it out of my fridge at home. Nothing 'frozen' about it. * Our servings of grits were tiny and they were RUNNY. Not creamy...runn-n-ny. * Each of our breakfasts included biscuits with country gravy, yet we got only a SMALL dish of gravy. I asked if we were supposed to share the gravy (for 4 biscuits, mind you) and the response was 'yes'. Okay, what if we're not a couple...why would you expect us to share? And where is the serving spoon? Of course, sharing is okay for my husband and me but for some people it might be. * The scrambled eggs looked more like a pseudo-omlette...almost like a patty. They looked VERY MUCH like the ones I got at McDonald's last week. Seriously. * We each asked to have our bacon cooked extra crispy. They almost got that right; out of 6 pieces (between the 2 of us) only one was floppy and undercooked. * The biscuits...eh...they were pretty bland, actually. Oh...I almost forgot...our waitress was minimally polite...only polite enough as absolutely necessary. One thing which bothered me somewhat is that she dropped our check off when we were only about two-thirds through our meal, then never checked back to see if we needed anything else. So, all in all, disappointing for a Cracker Barrel.

Came with my son for lunch and got the Fish Fry. It was seriously the best I've had in a really long time. Fish was crispy and not greasy. Nice big cod filets and because I can't eat cole slaw they let me change sides! It was so good I ate the whole thing and I have a fairly small appetite! Our service was really good but she checked on us so often I felt a little pestered. I'll be back again on Fridays for sure!!

Came here on a Friday evening around 4:30pm and they were BUSY! Parking lot is not that big so finding a space when they are busy is frustrating. Our waitress seemed "overwhelmed" by how busy it was, because she was not the friendliest. It took awhile to get our food & when we did get the food it was lukewarm (not sure how long it was sitting in the kitchen). Portion sizes depend on what you ordered, my father's fries were the same small amount that my kids got with their kids meals, my meal (which is pictured) was decent portions. It was pretty loud which made it hard to talk to your table mates. They definitely don't have enough seating that accommodates more than 4 people (we had 5), they had to stick a chair on the end of the small 4 person table, which made for a very crowded not so fun dinning experience. As with all Cracker Barrels, they have a Country Store located in the entrance of the restaurant, but they way it is designed is very crowded. Prices are decent comparable to other similar restaurants.

We visited the Grandville, mi location. Daryl was our server. I have to tell you that he was the best server we have ever had - EVER! (not just at cracker barrel). He was extremely friendly, pleasant, nice and had an incredible personality. He made our trip, thank you Daryl!

We have always enjoyed this restaurant. Usually eat there twice per week. Friendly & Courteous with good food & service at a reasonable price.

Waited 11mins to get waters. SUPER slow service, GOING ON 18MINS to get our check and no refills. Everything taste bland. Not your typical Crackle Barrel. Very disappointing, especially when you drive 25miles out of your way.

If you're a Cracker Barrel fan, then why are you even reading this? If you're crazy like one of my colleagues and have never been to one before...what have you been doing with your life? Breakfast is served all day (take advantage of this!). The catfish is excellent even though it is farm raised. The chicken fried chicken is great with the gravy. The hash brown casserole is a must, I also recommend the mashed potatoes and the mac n' cheese. For dessert you must try to the cobbler...to die for. Price is very reasonable. Staff is friendly; my friends and I had to wait out a car repair, and they let us sit around at our table for 90 minutes after our meal was done.

The food comes fast here, compared to other locations. Also, the service is consistently excellent. So if you like cracker barrel, then this is the place for you. Also, it isn't widely known, but they have a really good bacon cheeseburger at Cracker Barrel. Order it medium though, because the patty is on the thin side.

Awesome food, great prices, super friendly staff and a game ont he table to play while you wait. Being from Chicago, it isn't often I'm at a Cracker Barrel, but when I'm ont he road this is definitely a favorite. I had the eggs in a basket and they were amazing (the toast was delish!) and the hashed browns are super flavorful. When I todl the waitress that I'm a vegetarian she let me know about a couple things with chicken stock and/or bacon fat that I might not have known about, which was very helpful. This location has renewed my love for Cracker Barrel!

Ummm. Lots of food to choose for breakfast. This is great says wifey. I got grandpa's breakfast which was huge and tasty. More than enough for $8.29. Gramma had pecan pancake stack. She liked the fact that the pecans were cooked in with the batter instead of sprinkled on top afterwards. It was cold outside so the roaring fire in the fireplace hit the spot. I could not believe how much food came with my order, and it was all yummy and delicious goodness. Really, has anyone out there EVER had bad food or service at a Cracker Barrel? It's not exceptional like a five star eatery but while traveling it is the safest bet of a franchise as far a getting what you pay for. If I could I'd rate it four and a half stars for comfort, yummy food, cleanliness and service.

Food (taste & quality) was slightly disappointing, but I appreciated the portion sizes! Our server was amazing, I think his name was Aaron. Just incredible. The store is amazing, too! Lots of variety and things to look at. We were probaly in the store looking around for a good 30-45 minutes after our meal. I'll go back someday, but I won't be craving it. Oh, and my boyfriend and I were probably the youngest people there. Be prepared to see a lot of elderly folks if you go!

This place got a great food and great price, and with decoration from back in time makes it a great place for dinners and conversation. This place also serves great southern cooking food. It also got a game on the table for the kids play while waiting for their food, or you could browse the old country store while you are waiting. I order beef stew and coleslaw with muffin and corn bread muffin (you could get this mix in country store). The stew was delicious and coleslaw was amazing. Corn bread muffins are also good. My Mom order grill catfish, coleslaw and apple sauce, and she really enjoy her meal. My brother order specialty of the day was Chicken Pot Pie, and he enjoys it as well. Before we left I grab some coffee in the old country store, and I make couple pot since then. This is a one of the best coffee I taste so far. We will come back to try other dish before I leave to LA!

Good food but a bit on the pricey side for breakfast. Atmosphere is great and there are always busy so get there early. A bit noisy inside but we can deal with it. Love the fireplace.

Pancakes are awesome. Usually get an off the menu item here called grandma's breakfast. Here you get one less pancake but extra meat and potato casserole when compared to mama's breakfast. One of my favorites in town.
