Fast food style food in a converted fast food joint. But with beer. Cool concept but wanted better food and better service.

A unique setting that could be improved upon no doubt. A steady but not packed Friday night is when we visited . The service was friendly but slow. Personally the beers were nothing amazing to me but I can be picky when it comes to beer. I did really enjoy the food, I will going back to try more things off the menu.

Nice little find while on the road. Tried the Irish Setter, Torch Lite Munich Helles, and Pumpkin Spice Porter - all tasty. Lunch was the open face turkey with red potatoes covered in gravy with a side of asparagus - very happy with my choice. My daughter had the burger and fries, and my friend had the burger with pulled pork and bacon - both were happy with their choices. Next stop, I'd try some of their smoked meats.

We read about Cranker's Brewery online and decided to try it. Glad we did! We were there for lunch and ordered a coney dog/fries, open face turkey with homemade mashed potatoes and veggies, and fish (cod) and chips. The coney dog was delicious and fries were plentiful. The open face turkey was large and tasty. The tasty cod fish was lightly breaded and was served with very thin crispy potato chips (thought it would have been fries). Our server was Lacey and she was attentive and informative. Brian the manager was very helpful with beer questions. We definitely will return! Cranker's Restaurant & Brewery is right off US 131 on 68th St. Hours are M-F 11-11, Sat 8-11, Sun 8-8 Lunch special 11-2 M-F HH 2-6 $1 off select brews and appetizers are 1/2 off at the bar and patio. Breakfast Monday-Friday from 6-10am. Lunch & dinner - Nice variety of appetizers, salads, soups, Tex-Mex, burgers, sandwiches, hot dogs, BBQ entrees, dinner entrees, kids menu ("No Parents Allowed"), desserts... The brewery/bar is on one side of the restaurant (a short bar and a long bar) Good beer over 8 on tap and some Of the beer menu is a mix of 2 different brews. Growlers are available. There also is an outdoor patio.

Interesting cross between a coney island and a casual restaurant topped off with a brewery. Decent menu of burgers, dogs and sandwiches mixed with bbq and dinners. Easy in and out location for lunch and the lunch wait was quick. Nice selections of sides too. Can't speak for dinner but give lunch a try.

My wife and I are in town for work, and this place was at the traffic light by the hotel. It only had 2.5 stars but figured we would try it out anyway. When you walk in you kind of get worried because it looks like a fast food restaurant.......and they had a lunch menu that started at 3.99 and went up. Didn't really give this place much hope because of the decor, revues on here, and the prices........but we where blown away. The place has amazing food and great beer. Our first meal here my wife had the Greek salad, and soup. I had the club sandwich all of that was great, and we spent less than 20 bucks. For lunch today I had the 3.99 coney plate with chili fries. My wife had the open face steak loaf with the coconut porter...........all of it was great, and still under 20 bucks. On Monday thru Thursday they run a great two dine for 15.99 special till 7pm..........please give this place a chance. Great food and beer at a fast food price......we are here earing dinner now

Great fish tacos, rice has a bit of a bite. If you like spicy, you're good to go . Nice beer selection. Servers are attentive. Also it is a place for breakfast !!

When we first walked in the building is slightly entertaining because it's like a redone Burger King. We nearly turned around and thankfully we didn't! The staff is great, the food is better and the beer is out of this world delicious!! Do yourself a favor and eat here!! You won't regret it. The review on here don't do this place justice.

This establishment is very easy to find, it is located just off of US131 & 68th Street next to a Wendy's on the South side of the street. There is a decent amount of parking. If you are unable to go inside, they do offer the convince of a drive thru. This used to be a fast food establishment & still has that type of feel to it. This place was redesigned awhile ago and as of my dinning experience on (4/15/15) they just redid their menu (this is what I was told by my waitress). Breakfast is no longer served all day, so take note of that if you want that (this is what my waitress told me). They have a new tex-mex menu which includes items such as burritos, enchiladas, & more. There is a small kids menu on the back under "No Parents Allowed" (I had to ask where the kids menu was because at first glance it was not easy to find due to the titling). They have various burgers & such, as well as, an appetizer section. There is a bar that is located on the wall the drive thru is on. There are tvs everywhere. I think they are trying to give that sports bar feel, but it's not working. Our waitress was an older lady (I believe here name was Rose). She was kind enough but not very attentive (mind you there was only 1 other person dinning when we were there). One thing I noticed in here was how "casual" (for a lack of better words) the staff is. At one point one of the male staffers (or I think he was) banged on the kitchen window area, I guess to scare the cook??? The younger female waitress was wearing what looked like leggings for pants & never seemed to smile. The vibe from the staff was not doing much for us & seems how I believe customer service is very important, they totally lack in that department!! THE FOOD.... The salsa is good (has a nice spice to it)! The chips, well they're chips. My enchiladas were ok, nothing special. I had the beef filling and it had a alright flavor but nothing to wow me, the sauce had a kick to it. The re-fried beans were pretty runny and the rice was bland (I mixed the beans & rice to help the taste). I feel they are over priced for the portion sizes/quality. Chicken fingers were a bit soggy due to the pickle juice they were laying in! The worst part.....within 10 minutes after leaving, I started to feel ill (stomach pain, nausea, feverish). Long story short, I was sick within a half hour of eating here. I don't think we will be back. Overall not a great experience for us.

This place is great and seriously underrated. I don't even really like diner food, but everything I've had here is super flavorful and it's SO cheap! Plus, they're a brewery and the beer is great. I've tried both the coconut porter and the oatmeal breakfast stout. Both delicious. I can't stop ordering the open face meatloaf sandwich. The brown gravy is amazing. Don't expect ambience...it looks like the inside of a fast food restaurant with better lighting. There is a very small bar in the corner, but it's about the size of the bar attached to the kitchen in my house. I guess that could be considered cozy? Lunch specials are anywhere from $3.99-$9. And sun-thurs there's a dinner special for 2 for $15! We missed it by 15 min, but that's ok...it's still very affordable.

Just stopped in for a Torchlight Munich Helles Beer. Very clean great taste! Clear enough to read through. 4.7% Session Beer. Highly recommend this one. Just enjoyed a Cherry CoCo Porter 6%. This place is a hidden gem.

You can get a beer while your kids eat pancakes. Not trendy or fancy, and definitely not your typical "brewery experience", but the food and beer were delicious.

The start of our beer tour, sooo disappointed to start. Beers that are supposed to be on tap are not. Service is slow and I feel like I am in a repurposed Taco Bell. Should have read more of the reviews. Call and get the tap list before you make the trip. Stayed for a beer but skipped the food, menu is lacking , terribly!

First of all, this place is NOT a brewery! It's like sitting in a Big Boy family restaurant that happens to serve beer. Anyone who wants a fun brewery experience....this is not the place for you!!! Very strange crowd...lots of seniors and families. We bought a Groupon deal for this place and the food sucked big time! Everything is frozen and the potatoes we had were not fresh. The waitstaff were completely clueless as to what was going on and were not educated on what beers they had, or what size pours they had for a sampler. When she arrived (about 15-20 mins later) with our beer samplers, she actually told me what beers I had, then she just put my husband's down on the table, without saying which was which! I would give this place no stars if I could....there is no way we will ever be coming back to this place!

The beer must be great because the food is not. We went for lunch and I had the grilled chicken sandwich. It was a tasteless chewy piece of chicken on a small hamburger bun with shredded lettuce, tomato and mayo. Someone in our party had the coney dog and said it was inedible. Prices were good for a lunch menu, but you get what you pay for I guess.

Absolutely god-awful service here. Their breakfast was atrocious, and they screwed up our order in more than one way. Luckily, their beer was "okay" enough to save them..... Why did our hashbrowns taste like steak???

Wanted to like, but failed on so many levels. This is my third Rey before writing a review. Each time a different brew and a different meal. Brews have each been 'ok' but not worth a trip across town. But the food... Abysmal. I wish I could find a reason to return as it is a convent location for me. Nope.

Fries were undercooked and appetizers were served after entrees...good was ok but not great and service was poor...I also found a hair in my food...will not be coming here again

My wife and I came to Crankers because of the beer and thought we would give it a try. We were greeted promptly and brought to our seat. It took a bit for a wait person to come by as it appeared they may have been a little understaffed. When our waitperson came and I enquired about the beer selection she flipped the menu over and said, "We don't have any of these on tap. Just what's on the board over there." Pointing to a small board that was difficult to see... Once she realized my dilemma she read them off. Unfortunately the names didn't reflect the styles of beer so a few more questions. Bottomline very disappointed in the process. If noting else a printed list and description of what's on tap at a BREW PUB is a must. Ordered dinner and my wife had a salmon with Bleu Cheese. No bleu cheese to be found and overcooked. Sweet potato fries looked like they had been cooked in under temped grease and were soggy. My rib eye was not any better. Thankfully the beer was better. Had a great Coconut Porter and a Winter Ale. The other beers were not to style but drinkable. I have heard good things about the Cranker's in Big Rapids and Mt Pleasant but this one was not very good. For a Brew Pub there was not real place to sit and have just a beer and the restaurant was a converted fast food place. My wife and I both thought they weren't sure if they were a brew pub wanting to be a restaurant or a restaurant wanting to be a brew pub.

This Crankers is nothing like the Crankers in Big Rapids. The service is slow, the atmosphere is like an old Wendy's, and the food was terrible. Oh yeah, and I saw our waitress put her hands down her pants... gross.

I've only been there twice so far but I can tell you that they have good food, big portions, and great breakfasts! Oh and they have around 10 craft beer selections to choose from too of you like beer.

Such an odd mix of Detroit style coney island and beer. We go because my hubby loves the beer, and I am a sucker for a gyro that reminds me of home. If you love the Crankers brew, you definitely cant go wrong with a visit, but don't expect your typical brewpub grub. Since introducing the craft beers the menu has definitely stepped up a few notches.

I have been here many times because I like the food. I'm from Detroit and thus is as close as I can get to a coney island with a decent greek salad. Last night the family went and I'm still steaming mad. First the air conditioning was on...no joke it was warmer outside and our server was wearing her coat. Then our meals came out in weird pieces instead of everyone getting all their food at once. The food was still good. They were unable/willing to change the television channel even though we were the only ones eating there. Our server ignored us so we asked someone else about the TV and we were told that the manager was the only one who knew how to chsnge it snd he wasn't there. When we paid our bill at the register (since it was never brought to us) our server was more interested in ta lking to her boyfriend than saying a word to us. She's so lucky me husband tipped her because I'm not sure I would have been as generous. I put a post on their Facebook page to let them know how I felt...it was deleted. Great way to handle an unhappy customer...extreme sarcasm.

Service is a bit lacking, however, I thought the food was really good. I had a gyro and fries and they were both delicious! The gyro had a good amount of tzatziki sauce on it and was very flavorful and the fries were nice and crispy. The other two people with me split the Denver omelet and hashbrowns, which was plenty for two! I would definitely go back again :)

i was hungry, i wanted to try this new place and they had a fish special...just what i was craving. so i pulled into the DT. i asked about the fish special, the lady had no idea. when i told her what the board said and she said, "oh", and proceeded to tell me about OTHER specials instead. finally i just said, "nevermind" and ordered a fish sammy with fries and asmall iced tea, costed me $8!!! the good thing i will say is the food and tea were yummy. but thats it. the lady i ordered from had the personality of a thumb tack, as did the chick at the DT window. there was no, "hello", no "thank you", no "sorry you had to wait 10 minutes for a sandwich", not even a "have a nice day" as she shoved my food in my face. i paid her in silence. i took my tea from her in silence, and after about 7 minutes she asked me to pull forward and she would bring it out to me. after another 3 minutes i back my van up to the window and got out to hand her my tea back and demand my money be refunded. she opened the window, shoved the bag in my hand and shut the window. talk about RUDE!!! i drove off to my next location. i back in and figure, "this has got to be good if it took THAT long to make". i open the take out box and its like a handful of fries and a huge roll with a 3 inch long, skinny piece of fish. like i said, it tasted good...but the portion size sucked, they were over priced and the help was ridiculously rude and cold. i was just annoyed as can be about the whole situation. unless someone else wants to go there and pay for my food...i will not be returning!
