Lemonade and salad tasted like dishwater. Pasta sauce tasted like canned lasagna sauce. Waste of money and time. Fast food is better.

Mama Leone's has been around Gaylord since before I was born, and as long as I can remember it's been a place where many locals avoid. Personally, my dad was born and raised in Italy so I don't need to look far for quality Italian food, and perhaps I'm a bit biased. I recently went with a friend who swore that they had the best pizza. I have to admit, I was a skeptic. But wine was promised and so I decided to give it a chance. First of all, the glass of wine was more like a goblet. SO BIG. Like, basically a water glass with a stem. I'm a fan of healthy wine portions, so I was in a pretty good mood by the time the food came. I ordered fettucine alfredo and my friend ordered pizza. I should have gone with the pizza because the pasta was BLAND. I even doctored it up myself with some parmesan cheese, and it didn't make anything better. The pizza, on the other hand, AMAZING. I was completely shocked! It's thick and kind of chewy on the inside and perfectly crispy on the bottom. My 4 stars are for the pizza and wine, for which I will be back! They also have a garlic and olive oil pizza that I think will be the next thing I try - my friend swears it's even better! The service wasn't top notch but the pizza & wine made me a happy girl. I was surprised - don't count this place out!

First Gaylord exit.....follow the signs. Cute and vintage with a huge stone fireplace! The pizza is killer. Real peppery sauce and hot stone ovened to perfection. Friendly staff, all in all a great place to stop in route to Mackinaw.

This place is HORRIBLE!!! The bread they served us was stale and had a moldy flavor. The food was horrendous. Our daughters fries tasted like onions, my husband ordered the gnocchi and the spaghetti sauce was cold and the gnocchi was powder dry. I order the cannelloni and it was disgusting. None of us ate our food. The service was slow and we will never ever go there again.

I live in Gaylord and have gone to Mama Leone's only once. The food and the service were terrible! Badly cooked pasta and bland sauces. The server acted like he was doing us a favor. I'm only sorry that I can't give this place zero stars.

The service was decent. The food was pretty good, not the best but not the worst. The restaurant was empty but noon on a Tuesday isn't the most popular time. A little over priced but it wasn't horrible. I had the cannoli and it was pretty good. Wings weren't the best

Worst waste of money and time in a long long while. Skeptics from the start. But looking to try something new. My wife and I set out to try something new. On an early Spring day. Boy we're we not only right to be skeptics. But to be told your opinion doesn't matter basically. Wow. Just wow. Shortening the story. I ordered the Perch dinner while my wife got the Cannaloni and Manicotti plate. This after having ordered Toasted Ravioli. Which in itself should have sent us to the door. But we're troopers. We spent years in the F&B industry. No matter how some things may seem at times. Diamonds are often found in the most peculiar places. The obvious points of length of time and service were somewhat an issue. But it was quiet at least. I mean very quiet. At 6pm on a Sunday. No other tables...at least not for at least 45 minutes. This is at least the amount of time it took for our Ravioli to get out. The Ravioli..or should I say crispy squares stuffed with spicy (yep spicy!) spray cheese were not a good start. Do I need to say more than the description? Bread tray or basket was quite interesting to say the least. But it's bread. Most people can at least get that right. Or rightish...wish is where this fell. Once our food arrived from first glance the eye brows started to rise. My wifes plate looked like one big smothered cheese noodle. That you could not decipher one from the other at all. Once in the middle she found it to be cold and reheated tasting. My Perch was the only glimmer of light in what was otherwise a terrible meal. Almost. Once I received my Perch. Which came with my choice of baked potato, french fries, or the usual spaghetti. Wait what? Yeah you heard me. They serve Perch with Spaghetti and Meat sauce. Because who doesn't llike to mix fish and red sauce and burger? mmmmmmm..... I took the baked which also came with green beans. Or what they passed off as green beans. Which were acctually beans that were DROWNED in an oily butter/garlic mix. Topped with POWDER parmesan!!! It's supposed to be sort of an ITALIAN restaurant!!! No real parmesan???!?!?! Wow!!! The tartar sauce was pourable...seriously. It poured out of the little plastic dish like dressing. Speaking of dressing....I forgot to mention that the Fried Ravioli came with of all things Creamy Italian!!! ??? Who made your menu? But back to the tartar sauce. No relish and tasted like nothing but mayo and vinegar with paprika. I ate the fish only. My wife took about 4-5 bites and we could not do it. I very politely when asked. Not before. Told the server that I was unhappy. That I knew it was not her fault but I felt that paying $47 for a barely eaten meal. That we were not even a little bit happy with. I felt wasn't right. She then said she could maybe take a bit off. This after initially walking away saying. Wow most people like it. When I gave her my card., She then took it to the counter where I followed not to make a scene. Since now there were a whopping 5 people in there. Once at the counter I politely told the server that the cooks were embarassing the house. SHe was quick to disagree and argued that lots of other people like the food so I must be wrong. I then asked her if she owned the place. THis is when I realized that she in fact did. Which makes this story all the worse. She went on to hand me my now paid bill. With no discount. Continuing to tell me that I was wrong. That other people like the food. I mentioned that the place was empty. She did not seem to agree at all. All the while all I could think about was Gordon Ramsey. Now having worked in the F&B industry for as many years as I have. Tipping is something I take very seriously. BUT. When you tell me your the owner, and that my opinion does not count at all. All bets are off. For the first time in 20 years. I sat in a restaurant for over an hour and I did not give the woman a tip. I will not ever give this place my business again. As do I ask that you do not either. DO yourself a favor and go down to McDonald's. It's way cheaper. Faster. Plus it's guaranteed to leave your body just as fast as this garbage. Worst dining experience of the year so far. Hell. Worst in the past 2 years.

Italian Cuisine

The immense popularity of Italian cuisine globally isn't unknown. You can find an Italian Pizzeria around every corner of almost every city in the United States. Not to forget that in every house, people enjoy mac and cheese as comfort food. But it would be wrong to believe that Italian food starts with pizza and ends with good pasta as this Mediterranean country has much more to offer other than these two dishes. In Italian Cuisine, there is a high use of fresh tomatoes, all kinds of herbs, great quality of cheese, all types of meat, seafood and fresh handmade pasta. Many find it hard to believe that Italians have been making noodles long back.

Italian and Greek cuisines are always mistaken to be same, but they are poles apart. The primary difference between the two cuisines is the use of cheese in most of the Italian dishes. Italians love to cultivate their own cheese and process them as per their food requirement. It is believed that some cheese is so expensive that cheese producers secure them in lockers.

If you are bored eating the same old pasta or pizza, you can try some of the authentic Italian dishes like Risotto, Polenta, Ribollita, Lasagna, Fiorentina Steak, Bottarga, Ossobuco, Carbonara, Focaccia, Arancini and Supplì. Another item which Italians love to relish every morning is a good cup of Italian Coffee. Once you taste a freshly brewed cup of Italian Coffee, you might not visit Starbucks ever again. Authentic Italian food is made with heart and soul, so go find a restaurant where you can relish Italian cuisine in your city.
