Best BLT. Amazing and friendly service. Homemade chicken soup and noodles. All 7 of us loved it. Best place to stop for a meal while traveling.

Loved it! Had the biscuits and gravy and the homemade pumpernickel bread ... Delicious! We will gladly return on our next trip "up North."

Was not overly impressed with food... wait staff was less than personable and what upsets me was a 3 dollar charge to fill my to-go cup with coffee.

Fast service, great food. Homemade bread and cinnamon bread. Try the grilled cinnamon bread. Breakfast and lunch, not expensive. Great service. Great for kids!

Everytime we go up north we have to have breakfast at Arlene's. Well I must tell you we just finished our breakfast and it was marvelous. The homemade cinnamon toast is totally awesome and if you like kielbasa and eggs you are love there kielbasa omelet Coffee is always fresh. The New York strip steak and eggs is another favorite breakfast of hours I ordered it this time and the New York Strip was cooked perfectly and the size was rather large for steak and eggs. That's why we always come back for more at Arlene's. I'm not sure if they have changed hands recently but it's good to see they're keeping up with the same old fashioned up north recipes.

This was my and my wife's first time here. We chose this place on a whim coming back from Petoskey. What a gem! We came in through the back door and even the cooks greeted us with a friendly hello and smile. Their food shows how much they appreciate their work, too! So good! We had breakfast skillets and they were too notch! The gravy was excellent and the chocolate milk I ordered was obviously made there, which I love! Reminds me of my own homemade chocolate milk. The service was fast, very friendly, and everything was wick to our table. Wonderful experience and I can't wait to go back some day!

Went for breakfast, nothing special. Small town diner. Had an omlet, which was pretty good, but found it pretty strange that it did not come with hash browns. Thought that was standard, especially for the price, it should have had something a little more. It wasn't a very memorable experience. If you need some food right away, its ok, otherwise explore some other Gaylor locations.

With family in Gaylord, my husband and I are in town a few times a year. Arlene's is our go to place for a great burger. This diner isn't much to look at inside, but the food is great. Try the Michigan Burger...a phenomenal combo of juicy burger topped with crispy hash browns! Awesome!

This restaurant was recommended to us by my Mother and Brother in law whom had just moved to the area. ( I've lived here my whole life!) They said the food was great with good portions sizes for your money and the people were good too. So...we went! We were not disappointed and now this quaint little place has become one of the nice little getaways in Gaylord we like to stop at. I personally love the biscuits and gravy! My hubby is an omelet man and he loves Arlenes!

My boyfriend and I came here on our way back from being up north. We chose the place because it had good reviews, but I'm not sure why it did. When we walked in there was only three other tables, and I watched our waitress chat it up in the back for about 7 minutes before she even noticed we had come in. When she did notice she came over right away. We got coffees, which were average. We both ordered the egg breakfast with hash browns, meat, and toast. The eggs were fine, but my bacon was absolutely terrible. It was dry and old looking, and basically poofed into dust as I would take bites out of it. It obviously had been in the microwave. The hash browns were even worse. I've never encountered hash towns quite like this before, in fact I've never had hash browns this bad ever. They were horribly undercooked, the strings of potatoes were literally raw. It was deceiving though because the top of the hash browns were brown and crispy looking, so I'm not sure how the cook was able to achieve this strange result with the hash browns. The toast was the only part of the breakfast that was outstanding, which is just sad. The toast was amazing, must have either been baked in house or bought from a nearby bakery. The only thing that bothered me about it is the fact that our waitress didn't cut the toast so we both had these huge slices of toast. I've never had toast anywhere without the server cutting it, so that was just strange. The upside to this was that the inside of the restaurant was clean and nice looking with lots of pictures and things to look at on the wall. Our food came out within 5-7 minutes of ordering, which did startle me at first and even more so when I discovered the low quality of the food. Maybe if they took more time to cook their breakfast it would yield a better result. They even had a sign that said they won "best breakfast" in 2012, I can't imagine how they got away with that. Another good thing was that the ladies room was very clean and smelled really good; I felt like I was using the bathroom at grandmas house. Anyways, definitely won't be coming back to this place next time I'm passing through.

Our party of five stopped here for a late breakfast and were warmly welcomed. Coffee was excellent. Broad menu from eggs, meats and pancakes to Texas omelette. My son enjoyed an old fashioned Polish skillet. Reasonable prices. Skip the big chain restaurants and try this.

Our recent cross-country trip unfortunately brought us through the state of Michigan, and to Arlene's in Gaylord. The food was neither memorable or unmemorable. What we did remember was our server who responded to the simple question of, "What kind of pie do you have?" with a look and a sigh that suggested we had asked her to change our transmission. Every state in the US has an official nickname and we subsequently re-nicknamed Michigan "The A-hole State"and then proceeded east to London, Ontario ( The Tenderloin of Canada ).

Growing up in Gaylord I remember being a young adult and going here for the post-bar breakfast. Never a bad meal! Now - 15 years later - we still go there every time we're in town. The Grilled Cinnamon Toast is my favorite diet-breaker: it's the perfect amount of flavor, softness and toastiness - with just the right amount of gooey stuff to make it a treat, but not so much that you think it's a dessert. Burgers, soup - and yes, pie...we've never had a bad meal and the waitresses always have a smile. We recently gave my mom her choice of any restaurant in Gaylord for Mother's Day - and she chose Arlenes. Did I mention how picky my mom is?

Best hash browns I've ever had. If I'm ever in this neck of the woods, I would definitely stop by.

A downtown diner where a lot of the locals go. They have daily specials that are worth looking at. I like the omelets. They specialize in standard general American fare.

Ended up here off Yelp reviews. The very good food reviews seemed to outweigh the negative service reviews. The food was just as good as advertised (I split both the cinnamon french toast and hash brown burger - both were great!), but the surprising thing was the service. People were very nice, and worked with our large group (nine people) extremely well. Kudos all around, would DEFINITELY go back on my next trip up north.
