Taco Bell

Reviews:
I have exceptional culinary fluency and a broad familiarity with most all things gastronomique, but, having said that, i am certainly not above the pleasures of Taco Bell. Now, once we get past all of the obvious criticisms one could perhaps make regarding the chain, if one compares Taco Bell with its market competitors it allows for a more valid rating, and this is the context of my first yelp; I am rating this Taco Bell versus other fast food options, and, ultimately, against other Taco Bell locations. I think this is an appropriate first yelp as it represents an example of exceptional quality within the very limited wiggle room afforded by a large franchise corporate fast food restaurant such as Taco Bell. The features of this Taco Bell that make it worthy of note all relate to the quality of the staff I've encountered at this location (fort gratiot, mi). I most often visit 'late night' when food options are few other than the bell, and the will to cook or prepare food for myself is sufficiently suppressed by the inconvenience, a threshold contingent largely on two other variables; my level of fatigue or lack of time. Given the right circumstances I will go to this Taco Bell, likely once or twice a month, and I've received consistent suburb service. I have found the staff to be always competent and polite, and often refreshingly entertaining, accommodating and efficient. I don't know if my palate is being tricked by the skill of the staff at receiving and delivering my order correctly and appropriately, (while often incorporating humor), but I am pretty sure that its not; It is my experience that the food is actually consistently made better at this taco bell ( or, at least, correctly). I find few (late night, not one) poorly prepared items. I will say, in all my visits, one time an order was mistaken to my disadvantage, but this was in the early afternoon, a rare early visit for me...I give that a pass though, as the accuracy, quality of food (again, within context), quality of service, palatability, friendliness and likability of staff and speed of service make this Taco Bell the best I know of, and I've known many TBs. strangely, I would say that if I were to publish a foodie book about port Huron that this Taco Bell would be on it for late night eats, and certainly promoted as "the best late night major franchise fast food drive-thru venue in the county at least, possibly the world, although this is difficult to determine, but its with great comfort and confidence i grant the throne county wide". I feel strongly about this, and I hope the late night at this location maintains its character, its refreshing!!

Great service and food! Cozy, on the course with great views all year long-- we go here a lot in the winter. Several yummy dishes--fish, crab cakes to DIE for! BBQ that's divine too. I love great little places like this--they make eating fun-- unlike all the crappy chain places. Bogeys is great!
We went for dinner last night with two other couples. Everything was fantastic. My husband says the étouffée was perfect, we tried the escargot, smoked salmon, fried clams, salmon patties, shrimp, scallops, chicken pattie. All unbelievably delicious. The vegetables and side dishes were prepared perfectly. The service was outstanding. I cannot say enough about this place. We will be back often!
I surprising treat! Tucked away and they have amazing food. The ettoufee is great and the crab cake dinner is fantastic!

Great service and friendly staff. The staff makes sure you are happy with the food. No better diner in the area. Staff also remembers you. They will allow you to order a reduced portion without any issues. Food comes fast and fresh. I can't call it gourmet but it is good! Also a great well kept all you can eat breakfast bar which my so loves.
My husband and I come here when we can't agree on whether we're in the mood for breakfast or lunch! My husband loves the burgers & soups, and I always order the pancakes -- they have a slight sweet taste to them that all the other chain restaurants don't have, and it's delicious! The desserts all look amazing, but I can't say for sure, because we are always beyond full by the time we finish our meals -- the portions are very generous!!! We've found the morning/early afternoon staff to be so much better than the late afternoon/early evening staff. The two times we visited during the late afternoon, the waitresses seemed more caught up in their personal lives than to care about refilling our drinks or providing us with napkins. But whenever we dine here in the morning or early afternoon, we are always treated like valued customers. We see the same waitresses working in the mornings, and we are very fond of them!
My review really dates back to 2010. I hope the place really hasn't changed between then and now. When I was there I got a big burger, freshly made, with a short wait, and very friendly service. All of the toppings were fresh as well.

Price includes Chinese buffet and Mongolian BBQ. The buffet had good a selection of standard Chinese dishes and the BBQ had many ingredients to choose from.
We were there on Friday night, about 6:00pm for dinner, feeling hopeful. Not so great. Just OK. If you like flavored chicken/shrimp pieces and lots of different sauces over the same type of meat(?) .Fried shrimp a little hard. I like shellfish so I'll talk about that. Crab legs were adolescent (not quite full size) and that was disappointing. Bay scallops at the grill looked like #2 pencil eraser heads when cooked. No steamed dumplings that I could find. Everything else just ok. Sushi was good. Staff was very nice. Refills good. Bathrooms worked. I'd go again just because I live in the county and there's no place else. Maybe better for kids than adults. But if you REALLY want authentic Japanese food you must try Fuji's in Madison Heights. Worth the drive! They serve beer/drinks there as well.
Our family loves to eat here. Great selection for everyone, plus we can get fresh items off the grill too. Our son loves salad and gets his fill; we all like the fish, the salmon, the shrimp-- it's great. We have had parties here too and had a great time. Nice service, helpful staff. We like the place!

Red Lobster

Reviews:
I know, I know.... five stars for a Red Lobster? Yep. I haven't been to a Red Lobster since the early 90s, and not by accident. I was in Port Huron to visit my mother-in-law, who has early stage dementia, and is in an assisted living facility, where the menu is, shall we say, somewhat spartan (and that's a very generous categorization.) She loves steak and she loves shrimp, so I looked around for a source of those two items, and it looked like Red Lobster was about it. I walked in to order and was directed to the bar. Glen, the bartender, is a rockstar. While I'd done some research in advance as to what I was going to order, I explained my mission, and Glen had a number of really spot on, useful suggestions. I ordered a combo plate for my MIL, with steak (and I requested that the peppercorn treatment be skipped) and "Walt's Favorite Shrimp" (fried shrimp), red potatoes for a side, and a garden salad with dressing on the side, along with an iced tea. I'm not a big seafood guy, and if I am going to get seafood, it wouldn't be at a Red Lobster. I ordered a blue cheese strip steak, baked potato, broccoli, and a garden salad, along with an iced tea. I grabbed some sugar packets for the tea. I asked Glen about salt and pepper packets (the assisted living facility is *really* bare bones - we're working to get her into a decent facility.) He said that they don't have any, but thought for a second and offered and provided two of their pre-packaged salt and pepper shakers that were low and ready to be replaced. Classy and considerate. Glen also packed lemon wedges in a children's sippy cup, saying my MIL might like to use the cup afterwards - again, really thoughtful. He provided extra napkins, extra plasticware, and even a bib. I was overwhelmed by his thoughtfulness, creativity, and consideration. I was really, really impressed by Glen, and learned that he has worked as a dietary director at an area assisted living facility. He's genuinely a standout. What surprised me even more was that the food was genuinely excellent. My steak was perfectly seasoned and prepared, and really good. The salads were very fresh and nicely balanced with croutons, red onion, and cherry tomatoes. And you can screw up broccoli, under or over cooking it; mine was done perfectly. And restaurants can screw up baked potatoes, too, and again, mine was perfectly cooked. The highly touted biscuits deserve their high touting as well. My 86 year old MIL ate every single thing in front of her (often taking another bite after saying, "I'm getting really full," so clearly she enjoyed her substantial meal. She couldn't quite finish her salad but ate every bite of everything else. This was a home run for its intended mission, and Glen's assistance and service is the major reason why. Thanks, Red Lobster, and especially, a huge thank you to Glen!
Ordered ultimate combo. Lobster so rubbery and overcooked , crablegs overcooked and soggy no taste, everything else cold. Manager said she would make sure next was better, second try was hot but lobster tasted sour and briny snd crablegs same overcooked ones micowaved warm, yuk. Didnt eat any after first taste. Worst seafood experience ever, and considering thats their specialty, wow really? Maybe some experience in the kitchen would help. Call gordon ramsey for help maybe.........
Food is great! Also very good service. Our server Becky jo was very honest, helpful and super nice!! Definitely go to red lobster for a date night ;)

Chili’s

Fort Gratiot, 48059
Reviews:
My family and I stopped here last night for dinner before venturing to the mall. We got seated immediately and got our drinks taken quickly. Chili's has a spring summer menu and a fall and winter menu and its extensive. Once I decided on what I was getting, there was still three more pages to flip thru. The most popular item on the menu is the 2 for $20 menu and it comes with an appetizer. My family and I split the fried pickles and bottomless chips and guac. The pickles had a bite to them and could have been cooked a little longer while the Guac was perfect and not spicy! I had the grilled chickn salad for dinner. No complains. Has a citrus vinnegrete served with it. Large portion. Took some time to get drinks refilled, boxes, bill and a bag for all our boxes. I'm not a big fan of chains but this Chili's hit the spot.
I used to be a very big fan of chili's, but recently it seems like their portion sizes have gotten much smaller. In regards to this specific location, the wait staff is hit or miss. It seems like for every 1 great experience we have, we have 3 bad ones due to server incompetence or ignorance.
v nicely managed.. our waitress was accomodating. we had abt 6-7 people coming in at diff times. everyone got their attn as soon as they came. we got good suggestions. great atmostphere and experience.

This hits the spot for a carry out Chinese food craving. Solid for Port Huron, for sure, and very quick. The Gai Kow is good and the pork fried rice is wonderful. Good egg rolls as well.
Not the best in the area, but they do serve alcohol! I think this would hold a pretty steady 3 stars in most parts of the country. Some of the glazes seem a bit straight out of the can, but it's Port Huron. Sooo.... that's kinda gonna happen in many Asian joints that open here, apparently. In any event, I still go here sometimes and have never hated an experience. The wait staff are very attentive, the kitchen is quick and your experiences will be consistent.
Great Place and best Chinese food in the area. Owners are very friendly and the staff is courteous. I recommend the Almond Chicken and the Sweet & Sour Chicken with Wonton Soup and the eggrolls are the best..

Olive Garden Italian Restaurant

Reviews:
Let me start by saying that I had fond memories of this restaurant from when I was a kid when we had one in my own city. When I saw the ads on TV for them offering a combo special with dinner for two including appetizer, and dinner we figured we'd stop in on our next visit to the US when I had to deposit some money. When we first arrived, we were definitely concerned that there was going to be a bit of a wait however that was not the case. There was a small wait for tables of more than two, but it was not significant in any way. After being seated we were promptly offered a small sample of wine of which was a red wine that I don't normally drink. I wasn't particularly fond of it myself, but my partner enjoyed it. Service was relatively quick and it took a while for us to decide however she opted for the fettuccine and I went the Tuscan Chicken. From here on out it went downhill though as the first mistake was that our salad had no croutons. This was because the server gave ours to a table that had requested none. Since they and we had already started eating it was too late to take it back. The server then said that she would bring us some croutons, and never did. However, it got even worse after that when the food arrived. As soon as my dish arrived something did not look right about the chicken. I started to cut into a piece that had already been chopped up only to see that the inside of it was still pink. I waited for the server to come by, and immediately sent the entire dish back as who knows how that may have contaminated the dish (even if all the other pieces were cooked). Luckily the manager happened to be walking by at the exact same moment so she was also able to observe the uncooked chicken. At the time they tried to compensate by offering me a bowl of soup or something else, however I had wanted to try the dish so waited for a new one to be prepared. Needless to say, it is disappointing having to watch somebody else eat while you sit there. I will say however though, that they did a great job of making sure that I was compensating me by discounting the bill by the price of my meal. Unfortunately despite that, we left with a bit of a sour taste as the meals that we did get were lack luster at best. At this point in time, I'm not sure that we'll make the effort to give this one another shot, even though we like to gives places a second chance. It could just be the location, as they were quite busy on the day we went but that shouldn't change the taste of the dishes. They have many other things on the menu that we would like to have tried, but if we were paying full price for any of the dishes I would say that it is not really worth it. Dish sizes are good, but quality was under par.
I always sit at the bar. The staff there is very helpful and on point. The food is like every other OG, just a little faster and more well presented than normal. The entire establishment is very clean and well maintained. I stress this is a chain restaurant and in no way unique. However, if you are a fan of OG, which I am, then you will not be disappointed with this one. Tell Ryanee or Rob at the bar that Anthony sent ya :)
Yes I know, it is an Olive Garden. Yes I know most chain restaurants don't deserve more than 3 stars. However the food here is on the upper end for an OG, and I have never had bad service. The fact that they seem to be able to get and keep good waitstaff and turn out consistently good if not cookie cutter chain food is an accomplishment in itself in the dining purgatory that is Port Huron.

Best Vegetable soup I have ever had. The pesto added is very good. Great service and nice to sit outside on a sunny day too!!
This location has some maturing to do, but panera products make me keep trying again! Food is hit or miss and more than not slopped together.
A Pecan Braid from the drive-thru window hit the spot. I would pick this tasty treat again, but definitely can't make a habit of it... 470 calories and 53 carbs!! If I head here again in the morning, I need to stick with something that won't get me in trouble. After looking over the online nutritional information, I think the Breakfast Power Sandwich will keep me from the temptation of the "dangerously delicious" Artisian Pastries menu.
