Best sandwiches ever!! I worked here for 10 yrs the kitchen is extremely clean and the product is nothing but the best. I am now a SAHM and the Lunch Studio is my most missed place. I have tried every sandwich the place sells and they are ALL the bomb!! The veggie pita is so good and if veggies aren't your thing the Rueben and Turkey and avocado are the jam!! The soups and chili's are homemade and theres usually a meat and veggie option. The cookies are dangerously delicious and the size of my hand!! I love this place and all the workers in it!! The also have down town delivery incase you can't escape the office!! would give ya more than 5 stars if I could!!

When I arrived in Flint, in the fall of 2009, the Lunch Studio was the first downtown restaurant I frequented. I remember the weather being especially cold that fall, and how I would take a cup of the Studio's minestrone down to the Flint river to eat. I sat on a black metal bench by the Hamilton dam, scooping up the warm tomato broth, wondering whether Flint could ever feel like home. Eventually, it did. And in this city we are all trying very hard to love, it was soup that began my own romance. After finishing another cup of minestrone, this time sitting in the Studio, two years and multiple regrets later, I thought about why this restaurant appeals to me so much. The decor is what I always imagined Shopsin's in Greenwich Village to have looked like: shiny, swirly, kitschy; items from an artist's garage sale mounted on the wall. The tables and dishes are your high school English teacher's wardrobe, every item appearing a little out of place with each other. I love that. There was a pattern of quails at the bottom of my bowl that day. I know this because I damn near finished every drop of that soup. I usually order the vegetarian pita sandwich. Provolone cheese, sprouts, tomatoes, onions, avocado and mayonnaise meld together to make me feel happy. The food is simple but good. And the freshness of the ingredients used is inherent - if you eat in the late afternoon (after the lunch rush), for example, they may have run out of the day's supply of avocado. I can respect that. And I know they're willing to substitute any ingredient. They even use the word "vegan" on their menu - a rare find in downtown Flint (although that is, slowly, changing)! The Studio also hosts a number of community events. The local craft collective, Flint Handmade, runs their store and several events out of the restaurant. The space is usually always open for Art Walks, and recently hosted a series of local performers for Friday night shows. This is what I like most about the Lunch Studio. When you eat there, you are building community. A community with sandwiches. Who wouldn't want to be a part of that?

Their food is great, but I do wish they had french fries or sweet potato fries!

The Lunch Studio hosts a meeting for Flint Handmade on the first Sunday of the month. Most of the time the meeting consists of a craft workshop, which are fun. Twice a year they hold a craft swap. I recently cleaned out my studio so I will have lots of things to trade. About the food... the soup is incredible, sammies are good and the staff is always friendly. My only complaint is that I wish they had a full menu on Sundays for the workshops. I guess they are usually closed Sundays.

Oh, The Lunch Studio, how I adore you. 1. They have choices for vegetarians and vegans. 2. They have mismatched tables, which I like. 3. They support the Flint arts community. The Lunch Studio is a great place to grab a quick bite down town, or settle in for a leisurely lunch with friends. If you're a UofM student, it is the ideal place to get a cookie and some coffee with a new friend, or to meet for a group project, perhaps making said group project not quite as awful (ugh, group project) by the addition of sandwiches. And oh, I how like the vegan pita. Mmmhmm.

The Lunch Studio is a truly unique and tasty place to eat. NOTHING is fried! All sandwiches and soups are prepared fresh and the choices are endless when it comes to yummy combos of ingredients! The Lunch Studio also supports local artists and crafters, which makes a visit there interesting and fun - you never know what cool art or hand-made items you'll find there. NO TV is a huge plus for us - we can enjoy a friendly meal and talk to one another!

Ahhh, the epitome of what has slowly become known as "hispter Flint." I continue to like the Lunch Studio more and more. Their menu is chock full of items geared toward vegetarians- something that has been sorely lacking on Flint area restaurant menus of the past. Fortunately, a lot of downtown eateries, the Lunch Studio included, are starting to change that "old school coney dog" philosophy. Their grilled cheese sandwich and made-from-scratch soups are outstanding. Service has improved for the better. They also participate in Restaurant.com offers, which makes for both a healthy and tasty bargain lunch. Definitely don't forget to ask about the daily specials.

Love the sandwiches and soups. Everything tastes homemade! Just wish they were open on the weekends, as I can't get there during the week. Love the local vibe.

I unfortunately did not have a chance to visit the actual Lunch Studio restaurant, which sounds quite pleasant. I did have a chance to try some of their sandwiches, and I was pretty happy with what I had: a simple combination of fresh ingredients on okay bread. It wasn't exciting or challenging, but it was filling, tasty and quick. All in all a good option for a quick lunch in Flint.

It's a nice and quiet place to sit down for lunch. I got the veggie burger and it was delicious. Freshly made and the portion of it was surprisingly big. I love the baby bean sprouts they put in there. Fantastic!

I was a first time customer today. We parked on Saginaw Street, and asked a woman walking by if she could recommend a good lunch location. She worked in the area, and was familure with many of the local shops. This was her #1 one of 2 locations that she would tell us to try. The soup was awesome, as was the warm corn beef sandwich with swiss. Our server (Amy?) was great was well. Food was fresh. Drinks (pop / water) were frequently refilled. I was even offered a to-go cup for my diet cola. We will be back.

I really like The Lunch Studio and its vibe. The prices and food are decent, and it is a cozy place to get a sandwich and some soup, either alone or in a group. Good options for serious carnivores and vegetarians alike.

Hip retro cafe located not too far from UofM.. was always a nice friendly place to grab a bite to eat before heading back to class since there are not too many resturants in the downtown area.

The atmosphere is really cool and hip in The Lunch Studio! The food is also pretty good. I'll normally get a sandwich and soup and take it back to the office. I really wish that you could substitute something instead of the potato chips that you get... maybe you can, I've never asked actually. Good prices, good food, and a really cool atmosphere. Would be good for lunch meetings or just to meet up with a few friends. I believe that they also support a lot of local events and have a few of their own for creative folks.

I think this place has great potential, but are still slightly off the mark... but I feel they can easily improve. First, the location... it's very artsy, with some local talent for sale on the wall. They have a lot of advertising for local "green" events, and has a very "granola" feel to it... and that's not a bad thing. I think there need to be a lot more artistic minded, forward thinking people in this world. However, it seemed there was a good sound system available... but during lunch there was no music (or background ambiance) at all. POUT! We had the regular chili (and there is a vegetarian option, as well). However, it was rather plain (no spice, no seasoning) and the meat hadn't been cooked off seperately... plus beans... Yankees! LOL! The salad was a nice mix of field greens, but the leaves hadn't really been torn down. Those are some HUGE leaves to try to cram in my mouth (please hold all comments about my mouth, thank you!). It came with grocery store tomatoes (Yuck!) and 2 slices of mushroom. I also asked for some cheese (which I got several options of, and seemed cut especially for me--AWESOME! However, the salad was still only average at best. We also had a turkey sandwich which was okay. The winner was the desserts at the register when you check out... homemade, fresh cookies as big as your face ALWAYS WIN! Look, I really like this place. Although the food is natural and fresh (my tomatoes weren't)... it really needs some help. Perhaps I ordered the wrong thing, as there are lots of great reviews. However, the idea is great... fantastic concept... great location... and the people that waited on us were some of the friendliest people you can imagine! Food leans toward 2 stars... Atmosphere and Service toward 4 stars... so 3 Stars in the middle it is!
