My boyfriend and I always get takeout from here and are never disappointed. The food is always delicious and ready in a reasonable amount of time, and you get a good amount of food for what you pay for.

Hmm. This one's tough to review. I've eaten here several times over the years and it's definitely hit or miss. The food is very traditional, dare I say, "old school" Cantonese. There isn't a whole lot of options for vegetarians, let alone someone allergic to shellfish, as I am. There's probably about a half dozen entrees for vegetarians out of a huge menu. I mean, the menu is big, probably too big to consider anything a real specialty, and it's pretty heavily focused on beef and chicken dishes. As for vegetarian options, there's Vegetarian Egg Foo Young, Vegetarian Stir-Fry, Meatless Chow Mein and Chop Suey, you get the point. The food is clearly made from scratch, but isn't particularly spicy and could use better seasoning. It's a little bland, which is I'm sure up some people's alley, but I like a little more zest to my food. I wish they had a vegetarian sweet & sour dish, but they don't. However, the vegetarian spring rolls are awesome, the hot tea is great and the portions are huge. The servers are always friendly and service is both prompt and attentive. As for the ambiance, it is distinctly "old school," that's for sure. I don't think much has changed at Golden Moon in a long time and that includes the menu, prices and decor. As for the stir fry, it's well-made, just lacking in seasoning. Vegetarian chop suey is on the bland side and ranks as probably my least favorite dish of all. The egg foo young is good, but needs a little extra oomph. Fried wonton wrapper chips are good and the egg drop soup is excellent. Still, it's probably the only Chinese food that I've ever had that I needed to actually add salt.

The two star is for the customer service! If you don't know what Chinese food taste like then please go here, so that next time you go to a real Chinese place you would appreciate the Chinese food for once :) If I had a horse as a pet, even it would know how Chinese food tastes like. I was really hungry when I went there and typically people would eat anything regardless of the taste when they are starving, man! This place took the first spot in my top ten places not to go!

I eat in expensive restaurants all the time but this probably the best American-style Chinese I've had in a long time. Don't get dissuaded by the "truck stop" exterior appearance or the dated decor of the dining room. The quality is great (nothing is greasy), the food portions are incredible and the service is always great. The price is always right, especially since you will undoubtedly with leave leftovers.

It was fantastic! The customer service is wonderful, very friendly! I ordered Almond Chicken meal and was so surprised at the amount of food I got! It was absolutely delicious. I'll come back again for sure

Worst place ever if you are vegetarian. We asked before we even sat down if we could get tofu anyway we wanted but then our waitress told us we couldn't. No veggies rolls. I guess it would be ok if you eat meat but the service was poor. I'll never go there again that's for sure. Mean old waitress

So I had this place last year at a catered bridal shower and it was pretty good. So I decided to order take out Sunday August 31st 2014. I got the orange chicken with fried rice minus veggies, and my husband got the general chicken with regular fried rice. Well my orange chicken was NOT what I was expecting. It was REALLY zesty and had actually chunks of orange rind in it.... I've never experienced this in orange chicken, nor do I ever want to again... I don't know why they think it'd be tasty to include this in the recipe--because it's NOT!!! I ate like 2 bites of it, and tried to manage a 3rd.. it wasn't happening. My rice was OK- but very greasy. My husband's general chicken was better than the orange chicken- but only better in a way that it was manageable to force down. I will not be returning here and feel that I wasted a good $17 that I could have taken to WING GARDEN in Flushing; where they actually know what they're doing!!! VERY DISAPPOINTED!!!!!!!!!!!

This is my all time favorite Chinese restaurant in Flint. I only have done take out here, but everytime I pick up my food Im greeted with a smile from one of the family members here. My food is always hot, fresh and fab. I love the spring rolls and they have the best almond chicken. Prices are very reasonable and thats always a plus.

If you go, skip the buffet. Even on a busy Saturday night the dishes did not taste fresh. The orders we saw coming out of the kitchen looked much more appetizing.

We don't normally do buffets but we thought we would give it a try. (They have a menu you can order from too). The buffet has a good selection of different dishes in small portions so everything stays fresh. The food isn't too greasy and has good flavor. We thought is was good, solid Chinese food. The service is attentive and friendly. Oh and they have great hot mustard!

This place is quite good - I was amazed to find it here. I think I got sweet and sour chicken the first time - which I have to say was delicious. The service was good and efficient, the atmosphere is quite entertaining - there is a couch from the 70s in the front and the main dining area, as you can sort of tell from the posted picture, is quite elaborately decorated. We went for supper/dinner and it was quiet and relaxing; I'm not sure if it changes much throughout the day. Quite surprised to find it here. Haven't tried other Chinese places in the area, but this one is a sure bet.

Great Chinese food at a great price! The portions are huge....come hungry and prepare to take leftovers home. Crab rangoon lovers be sure to stop here......yum! I love the "chips" (fried wonton wrappers) they bring out, in fact I can never stop eating them. One of my new favorite Flint restaurants.

I live in San Diego but am originally from the Flint area... and I can honestly say this Chinese restaurant is the best I've ever had. Everytime I go home to visit friends/family, I always make it a point to stop here. Nearly everything on the menu is awesome (especially the Thai chicken or Lobster in black bean sauce or hot and sour soup!). The staff is very friendly and it never disappoints. Their buffet is awesome, too!

Overall good standard Chinees food. Portion size is very good. Food was good, but nothing to seperate it from other similiar places. Price seemed standard.

Quite possibly my favorite restaurant in the Flint area. My wife and I don't get to go out too often, but this is the place we've been going to since we were dating and it's never failed to be excellent. The favorite dishes here are the Mongolian Beef and the Hoi Sin Sauce Chicken. Both are awesome enough that we get full orders of both so that we have tons of leftovers to take home. Humongous portions and an attentive staff.

I would give 4 Stars, however, they do not devein their shrimps........!!!!! They get 3 stars for taste, but need to clean their shrimps.....people probably don't realize that they are not clean, especially if they are stuffed in an egg roll!!!!!

Some of the best Chinese food in Flint. There is definately no problems with the portions. Best item on the menu is Lobster Kow. Yum!

Chinese Cuisine

The popularity of Chinese food in America can be adjudicated by the appearance of China Town in many major cities in the United State of America. The popular trend of ordering or opting for Chinese take away food isn't unknown in America. Chinese take away food comes to rescue when you're too tired from work or too exhausted to cook. No one can resist the temptation of eating spicy noodles, shrimp, chicken, beef or pork cooked in the sweet and spicy sauce. The cooking method of authentic Chinese food is a lot different compared to what is served in America.

Generally, Chinese use dark meat small bones and organs to cook dishes but this changes when you are eating American-Chinese fusion food prepared using white boneless meat cooked with broccoli, carrots and onions. Back in China, the food is less spicy and oily as they favor steaming and braising method for cooking the most popular dishes. So, if you have a taste for authentic Chinese food, then try finding a real Chinese restaurant in the city. You can also try the most popular fusion Chinese food like Pecking Duck, Chicken Feet, Hot Pot, Shrimp Dumpling Soup, Mapo Tofu, Wontons, Chop Suey, Egg Rolls and not to forget Fortune Cookies.

There are not many restaurants in America serving authentic Chinese food. A little research on Restaurant Listings directory can help you locate the best Chinese restaurants in the city. Chinese cuisine is continuously evolving, and you can find a variety of dishes categorized as the food for lactose intolerant, gluten intolerant, vegan, vegetarian, and diabetic friendly. So, if you have a group of friends with different taste patterns, save the hassle and visit the nearest Chinese restaurant in your city.
