Excellent atmosphere, with the "roaring 20s" motif it makes for a relaxing time. The drinks are expertly made ranging from bubble tea to specialty espresso drinks such as the great gatsby. In addition to baked goods from Crust, they bake a variety of delicious cookies on site. If you are downtown and need a wake up, get the Swift Kick to the Head, with 6 shots of espresso it will definitely get you going. Thank you

Pros: wonderful service, very delightful to go in. Great oldies atmosphere, and decor to match. Food was top notch. Would eat again! Cons: latte was a touch on the weak side. 4 stars. would recommend to a friend

It was over priced and alow service. They pushed religon and god on me and it mad me feel uncomfortable. The atmosphere was good and loxation great. I also thought the price of the deserts were outrageous.

This is such a nice little coffee shop in downtown Flint. So glad they opened up by campus. Their coffee and other non coffee drinks are really delicious. I actually really like their vanilla latte, better than Starbucks. They are the first place in this area that makes bubble tea. It's a nice effort but definitely not the best. The tapioca pearls aren't prepped properly, so you get a hard chewy texture to it. I've had a few of their sandwiches which were pretty good as well. The location is very college friendly. It's a great place for small local artists to stop by and perform.

Cafe Rhema is the most divine coffee house! It's so refreshing to see this cafe in downtown Flint. The barista made my mother and I the most wonderful drinks. I had a hazelnut latte with 2 shots of espresso in it and my mom had a dirty chai tea latte. Cafe Rhema is ever-so charming! It is designed in 1920's fashion and the decor is so inviting and reminiscent of all things past, that my mom and I wanted to spend the whole afternoon in there. Another great thing offered at Cafe Rhema is the free WiFi. If you are a local student, this is the place to study! I will most definitely be visiting Cafe Rhema each time I come home to visit my parents.

The coffees are really good! The mint chocolate coffee is excellent! Got a cinnamon bun with the check in special because they were out of cookies!! Win for us! It was pretty good, definitely way better than a cookie!! Only downfall is it is kinda expensive but good coffee is worth it!

Really cool atmosphere. Service is good; very friendly staff. They have an interesting drink menu, with a lot of variants of coffee/espresso drinks. They take their espresso seriously. They're also the only place in the Flint area that serves bubble tea (it's decent). The food is nothing special; they don't have a full service kitchen so everything is cooked in a toaster oven. The prices are ridiculous. A regular drip coffee is something like $3.00. Overall, very good, but not an everyday kind of place.

I'm back trying out one of their new Italian dark roasts, which ended up being REALLY delicious! FINALLY, there's a place that's serves a decent dark roast that doesn't start with "Star" and end with "Bucks"!!!! Plus, there's plenty other drinks to, that'll keep your palate entertained!

Best coffee shop I've found in the Flint area!

Downtown Flint is home to a surprising number of spots for an expertly-pulled shot of espresso, but Cafe Rhema is a gem on Saginaw street. Originally home to the Brown Sugar Cafe, new owners have renovated the space into the perfect salon for conversation over caffeine - hence, the name Rhema, or "utterance". Drinks are very good, staff is friendly, and the atmosphere is lavishly comfortable.

Finally. A little bit of class comes to downtown. I'm so tired of fast food, chain or typical local faire for lunch. This place has great ambience, excellent food and reasonable prices. I paid the same here today for a chicken berry salad and a fresh brewed Iced tea that I did yesterday at Gillies Coney Island for a crappy egg salad sandwich, six frozen chicken wings and a fountain iced tea.

I happened to be in Flint so that I could meet up with a friend to go to Birch Run and burn some tags. Although with much more than $20 in my pocket. Anyways, I wanted to find another place to yelp and some place that wasn't Starbucks or Biggby so searched coffee shops and found two in the area that intrigued me. This one and another that was about 15 miles away from where I was so I chose to go to Cafe Rhema. And it was a good decision! When I walked in I was struck by the eclectic nature of the entire coffee shop. All the chairs look really comfortable and everything somehow didn't match yet blended in with each other. I ordered a tea, which was as easy as sticking a bag of tea in a mug and filling it with hot water (not the best but I can overlook it for the ambiance) and then found a place to sit and plug in my laptop. I sat there for maybe 3 hours and felt like I was in Cheers. During the time I was there, about 10 or so different individuals or groups walked in and everyone seemed to know everyone. It was like a 'Where everybody know's your name~' dun dun dun~ moment. And not just because I've recently started watching Cheers (I'm a late starter, I know) but everyone was so friendly to each other. A customer stood in front of the counter for like 30 minutes talking with the employee. Granted all of this is probably because the cafe is literally across the street from U of M Flint and everyone who comes here goes there but everyone's friendliness and cordiality was super impressive. And another plus? The server offered a drinks card, I declined saying that I'm just passing through Flint, she responded with oh how'd you find us? And I said YELP! And she was like cooooolllll... Anyways, Cafe Rhema, I was torn between writing a review or not because it seems like such a gem that I want it to stay the same way and didn't want my review to sway people to go there so it would remain the same, but that seems a little selfish. And the likelihood that I'll go there regularly is slim to none, it is over an hour away. Parking is on the street, but they only collect until 5pm. Sandwiches are $3 from 4-6pm or something like that, and delicious. Wifi password is... can I write that here? someone message me if that's not okay. conversation - which is ironic because once you have wifi conversation tends to end. LOL. my bad.

Adorable little coffee/snack shop in downtown Flint! Love their interior design, it gives it such a cozy welcoming feel! Staff here is super sweet! If it were on my way to work- it'd be my everyday choice! Glad to see a downtown business doing well :)

The black milk tea boba was really bad! But they deliver and the food was good! Maybe just a different flavor next time !

Excellent food and coffee. It's nice to know that they do support the local community by buying from the Farmer's Market a couple minutes away. I had the chicken pesto flatbread. It was cheesy, full of pesto flavor, and you could tell the thing was fresh. The crust was also crispy and delicious. It was more like a pizza to me, but I'm not complaining. Yum!

This place tried too hard to be cool. The Lunch Studio is the real deal or walk a few blocks to Hoffman's deli.

My new favorite cafe in Flint. This place is awesome- from French Press coffee and bubble tea to probably the best lattes around, there isn't anything to not recommend! I've recently become a real fan of their bubble tea- it's so good! Their muffins and sandwiches are a real treat as well. Great cafe to stop in for lunch, after work or to get together with friends. I love the 20's style decor and ambiance. Occasionally, there's live entertainment in the performance space in the back of the cafe, so don't forget to check that out as well. My husband and I try to stop in here as often as possible. I recommend Cafe Rhema to anyone!

Café Rhema has always been a great place for the community, and especially the college students, to come and enjoy the comfortable seating and relaxing atmosphere. Unfortunately I will not be taking my business there anymore. I'm not sure if they have new baristas or what but the quality of drinks has really declined. Lastly, the last time I ordered at 'Rhema, the man who took my order, had a conversation with me and everything, brought out my drink and gave it to the only other African American woman in the cafe. She respectfully declined it (as it wasn't her drink) and he looked around the cafe, gave up, and dropped my hot chocolate on the counter. I went to the counter and asked the man if that was my drink and he just shrugged and said "Yeah." No apologies, no new drink for the wait. Unfortunately this was the third time that I experienced this kind of out-casting behavior in this establishment. And while the location is perfect for college students like myself, that 'comfortable seating and relaxing atmosphere' no longer applies to me.

I fell in love with Cafe Rema when I walked in the door. The decor and overall atmosphere was stunning! The menu was simple and affordable. The staff was not only great at their job, but they were kind and attentive as well. My husband ordered the Cherry Waffle and White Chocolate Cherry Mocha while I ordered the Ham and Cheese Croissant and Raspberry French Soda. The drinks were hands down the best I've had in the area alongside with Shadrach, Meshach and ABeanToGo. My husband love his waffle that was loaded with fresh cherries!!! My only disappointment was I was expecting a cold sandwich and it was warm. That said it was lovely! I cannot wait to come back. Thank you Cafe Rema for a lovely anniversary lunch!

Cafe Rhema is simply put and amazing addition to downtown Flint. The coffee is consistently amazing, the chicken salad sandwich is great, and the always friendly staff is such a great pleasure. I love coming here and would recommend that everyone that even passes through downtown stop in and grab a coffee.

Cute decor and good service! Lots of coffee options. We got lattes and an americano- both were good. I also got a veggie bagel which was good. Adding words so I can post my review.
