We were out to dinner and thought we would try Drifters. It has recently changed hands and they were advertising for a new cook. It was 8:30 when we arrived and the menu is huge. This can sometimes be a bad sign. But we both ordered breakfast. My husband had an omelet it was very good. I had eggs overeasy they were done perfectly. The waitress was as nice as could be. Very efficient without being intrusive. The place was neat as a pin. We had a very nice experience.

It's off the highway thus the name. As a drifter, the name appealed to me. I was traveling da UP and got in the mood for a lil grub. Well I got the opposite. Their plates were part of the Paul Bunyan collection that Pier One never released...jk. Seriously disgusting portions. But that's what you have to do...now the food. Was it good? Kim had the veggie and liked it. Mom had fish with their homemade chips. Also big portions....I had a brat and a salad. Kind of the only time I've mixed a brat with a salad. The brat was ok. The salad had chicken, iceberg lettuce, tomatoes etc. Bla same shit everyone has. Place is clean...4 stars. I'd give it 3.5 but this is done on a national out of town scale. So when I mix the prices with atmosphere and quality of food it's a 3.

Guys, stop taking yourself so seriously. It's diner food. It's going to have too much butter and be a little salty. That's why you eat it. I hadn't been to this place is upwards of 8 years when I went back. It was incredible diner food. The pancakes were fluffy, the omelet surprisingly delicious, and the coffee slightly burnt. Also there were children busboys. Probably 7 years old. That's the true test of the legitimacy of any diner. Definitely worth the stop if you want breakfast when in Esky.

This was our location of choice for a late dinner on a Friday evening. It seems that most places close up shop early around Escanaba, but Drifters is open until 10pm. We arrived around maybe 8pm for dinner after we all arrived in town. From the first impression walking in, it is your typical small town diner joint. Booths line the outside wall, with a half wall partition around the middle of the place with more booths. Your typical drop ceiling and fluorescent lighting. We were lucky and got a table along the outside wall next to a huge window that looked out onto Lincoln Rd. It took our waitress a minute to get over to us, but I think that was in part to the fact that we arrived as two groups instead of all together. But when she arrived she took our drink order and got those out to us relatively quickly. Since I was enjoying dinner with my parents...and I hadn't seen them since January placing our food order took awhile as we kept talking and catching up on what was going on, how the drive up was, etc. But we finally made our decisions and gave her our order. From what I could see as I looked around the place looked clean and well taken care of. Better than the last small town restaurant that I tried earlier in the day. As we waited and chatted it felt like it wasn't long at all before our food came out. Now I am always a HUGE fan on a place that serves breakfast at any time...so I got set up with Belgium waffle, bacon, and eggs! It was very delicious and really hit the spot. My mom went with the stuffed French toast and it looked absolutely to die for. AND best part...she didn't finish hers so I got to have some as well. Besides the food being really, really good I also enjoyed the fact that our drinks never went empty! I never did check to see if they offered a dessert menu but after all that we had for "dinner" there was no room left. If you're in the Escanaba area this is a must stop if you want some good food at good prices! I don't think you'll be disappointed.

On the way home from Marquette I was going to stop with my family at a restaurant down 41. It was closed and we made the decision just to starve and stop in Escanaba even though it was farther than we'd hoped. We figured there would be more choices. I'm kind of glad we didn't settle, because this place was exactly what we hoped we'd find. A great breakfast. Decent coffee, seriously good bacon, very good waffles, massive pancakes, delicious hash browns. Even the little cantaloupe wedge was good. I started this review a week ago and then drove the rest of the way home. I'm back to edit this, so obviously I'm still thinking about it. The service was really good as well. When I'd paid and was waiting for the family to finish in the rest room (long drive!), a server noticed me standing there and asked if I was being helped. I could tell her concern was sincere. Anyway, I recommend this place to those who live in Escanaba and those just passing through.

Drifters has been a favorite of mine for years. New ownership (still family and locally owned) and management have begun to use more local ingredients and local meats. Best Swedish Pancakes in the U.P. and hearty portions, as well as many new and old 'stand by' favorites on the menu. Try the Chophouse burger! It looks like they are renovating the exterior too. Great food!

Great breakfast! Large portions for those who enjoy getting a large bang for the buck. Bread/toast was tasty and tasted freshly baked. Eggs were coked just as I ordered, hash browns were done to perfection and the pancakes had a nice flavor. Atmosphere was friendly, pleasant and clean.

Stopped in for lunch, but "breakfast served all day" means I had an omelet! It was huge, included a big portion of hash browns, and two thick slices of toast. Yup, too much food, so much I skipped dinner! However, service was slow, although our server was very pleasant and professional. She just had too many tables, I guess. Food also took a long time, especially because my husband only had coffee. Fortunately they left a hot pot of coffee so we were happy to wait and have coffee. Good prices, great portions. But no one needs that much food, next time we will split a plate!

Good American style diner. Huge portions with good qualify. Right off the highway while trecking the UP. Might I recommend the the stuffed French toast or the corned beef hash. I have a thing for good corned beef hash and they get 4 stars for there hash. They also have a half waffle and bacon for the kids my son devoured...

Just left this restaurant, and I'm very pleased. I had a very good Reuben Sandwich, and my husband liked his burger. Fries were done right, and there was malt vinegar on the table for them. All in all a good experience.

This is one of the better places in Escanaba to get a good meal. If you have ever been to the larger cities, then I guess that you could compare Driffter's to any of the dozens of Greek restaurants. You get a good meal, with large portions, for a good price.

It's diner food...this place is a good spot for breakfast or a sandwich. I don't know if I'd bother getting an entree here, though.

Absolutely horrible food. You know it's going to be bad when the menu has what appears to be over 50 items. The do many different kinds of food, none of them well. In a half-dozen or so visits, I have never had a good meal.

Quaint little place with an amazing feature- VETERAN Parking!!!! Loved it! I was, however, disappointed with some of our order- Waitress was great, friendly and attentive. Our cheddar potato soup was kind of bland but the chunks of bacon were tasty. Our chicken wrap was basic and nothing special All in all it was an average place that is just nice because of the staff and being a home style establishment.

Never disappointing...great for breakfast "anytime". Eggs prepared anyway you like them, fluffy buttermilk pancakes and super good bacon and link sausage topped off with a never ending pot of good coffee. The perfect breakfast spot even at 11:30 a.m.- do stop by.
