This was my first time ever staying at a B&B. It is a completely a different experience. It truly is like being home. You have the ability to come and go as you please. You aren't bothered by staff. When you need assistance, all you have to do is call and they are there. It is very peaceful. Arriving early Saturday, my friends and I were able to choose from 2 of the four rooms (Green and Grey). Since I can sleep anywhere, I let them choose. They ended up in the Green and I had the Grey. Very cute place. From the outside, it is painted a very nice navy blue. The inside has the old charm (like my Grandma would decorate it). In the morning, breakfast is served. Amazing spread. We were offered Apple Pie (yes for breakfast), Spinach and Ham quiche, pecan cinnamon rolls (home made), yogurt, fresh fruit, coffee, tea All occupants eat together, chatted, and really enjoyed the company and the food. Completely different experience than staying at a chain hotel. I would definitely go back!!!
+ great location, + nice innkeeper, + delicious breakfast When I was looking for a cute little B&B or charming hotel in the Saugatuck area I found by coincidence the Douglas House, a hidden gem and local favorite. The B&B is just around the corner from La
I have stayed at several b & b's and I have to say this one is a gem. The breakfasts are great , the room accommodations are nice and clean, and the owners are very friendly. The garden and sun room are gorgeous. It is right in the heart of Douglas close to all restaurants and bars but very quiet.

I really enjoyed my time here. I would find it very difficult to say anything negative about this place. Everything from the food to the rooms were outstanding. Jim is a very nice guy and provided helpful input on where to go in the surrounding area. I am just afraid if I am too positive this place might become very popular and I would not be able to return.
My wife and I stayed here last summer in the Black and White room. It was clean and spacious. The owner was very friendly, and helpful. Our stay was very pleasant.
stay away from this place. The owners are @%*!#. They pretend to be nice to get your money - which is all they care about. there are problems in the rooms and they won't fix them unless you tell them about it. They monitor you, your room, and your vehicle. If anything is not "perfect" they take pictures of it and confront you and threaten you with damages and tell you "be more careful". I literally almost got into a fight with the male owner over something they accused me of which was completely unsubstantiated and false - I forget his name, but he was with the female owner (wife, girlfriend, sister ?) I don't know who she is - but she is as bad as he is. Backstabbing phonies. Oh, and if you do go there - don't even think of asking for something that they don't "normally" have or provide - you won't get it. Never again.

Pizza Mambo

If you are familiar with Douglas and Saugatuck, you'lll know that there are NO chain restaurants here, but there are alot of places to try. We normally order pizza from another pizza joint in town, but we decided to give PIzza Mambo a try. We ordered carry out, and were very pleased. Pizza is thin crust (FYI). Our pizza was mushroon and pepperoni - the mushrooms were think, generously sized. The pepperoni was average (not exceptional but not bad). The bread sticks are also thin - not like the ones that come from Pizza Hut, but they were yummy!! Pizza was ready in a timely manner. we will definitely eat here again.
Nothing mind-blowing, but exactly what I wanted: good ol' fashioned pizza pie. The crust was light and chewy, the cheese melty and gooey, the toppings fresh! I ordered a house salad and breadsticks as well, both were tasty. Oh, and the best part--they deliver! Everything came piping hot (except the salad of course.) Would order again from Pizza Mambo for sure!
Visiting here from out if town and we ordered from here. Pizza was thin and crispy which is just how we like it. Our kids loved it too--said it was the best pizza ever. Breadsticks with marinara were good choice too-- also a hit with the kids.

Finding Back Alley is like a light at the end of a long, local eating odyssey. Okay, two months really but long enough to sample the competition and realize that what Back Alley does is best described as delicious. The crust is a little crunchy, the sauce a little saucy in the best kinda way... sorry about the food porn nature of the description but these ladies really hit it outta the ball park. Thank you for making my eating adventures here in Southwest Michigan a tasty adventure. The salads are huge- big enough for a couple to share. Calzones to order make even the pickiest of eater a fan. The outdoor seating area is picnic table ala self-serve. They deliver, and open late!
Interesting pizzas with fresh ingredients. The Mediterranean pizza is like a Greek salad on dough. Meat lovers is super meaty. My favorite was the chicken ranch pizza.
Grinders are insanely awesome and huge! Highly rated!! First review on yelp too. Definitely get your money's worth here!

Wild Dog Grille

Reviews:
I am so glad we found Wild Dog. The service was great and the food was good. The dining room has an intimate feeling but half the diners are wearing shorts, so the atmoshpere is fairly casual. Decent beer list. Next time maybe we will wait for the patio.
The basic burger with provolone cheese was fantastic. Their fries are perfectly seasoned. Wife got the Chicken "Parme-Cata". She enjoyed the dish with the fresh flavor of the tomato and mozzarella. She really enjoyed the lemon flavor of it as well. She commented that the breading on the chicken ended up quite soggy because of the sauce the chicken was cooked in/had drizzled over it. Otherwise she really enjoyed every forkful. Ps the calamari was superb! Unfortunately we tried to experience dinner on the patio and the mosquitoes got at our legs and ankles so I would recommend the establishment invests in a fogger/torches or every table have a citronella tea light or something. It was a very pleasant scene outside and much more comfortable than the frigid indoor seating (and I never complain about the a/c) that was offered.
The wild dog is a very well decorated restaurant with a nice patio. We were seated quickly. Service was pretty awkward. Not bad really, but unfriendly and sometimes weird. For example, instead of taking a pitcher to refill soda the sever brought a regular cup and started pouring "refills" into the wrong cups. They menu is divided into sandwiches, pizzas and entrees. The sandwiches are reasonably priced from $10-13. The pizzas were similarly priced. The entrees rand from $17-20+. We had the four cheese pizza which was just too much. It was very oily and salty, and not very enjoyable. The regular pizza was pretty good. However, we ordered pepperoni/sausage and received pepperoni/mushroom. This is an issue when they person ordering it can't eat mushrooms and the server can't be found to fix the order. We also had the fish tacos. The flavor was very good but the "tacos" we're actually way too big and they were more like small burritos. Finally we had the pork enchiladas. The flavor was good and the pickled onions and peppers were enjoyable. I thought the back beans and rice was bland. The price point for the enchiladas was high compared to the quality of other dishes in this price range for the area. Overall the wild dog was an ok experience. I don't think I will be back, but it is a decent option of you are looking for causal dining experience with a short wait on a busy night.

Such a great place to eat! I have been for breakfast several times and never let down. Prices are fair and the staff is so friendly. Eating in, or grabbing a quick breakfast sandwich on the go, you will not be let down. Very friendly to kids too. Oh and their bacon, is BEYOND DELICIOUS! Gotta get the bacon!
Waited over an hour and food was still not there. Kept blaming size of the grill as a reason. Never an apology. Left before food arrived. Don't go there on weekend mornings. They cannot handle the crowd.
Good friendly service. Regular decent breakfast. Good coffee. Had a olive burger and it was good with a decent amount of fries. Fries cost a little extra, but worth it they where good. And they did have Heinz ketchup. That is always a good thing.

Super friendly staff (and patrons) and the best almond croissant you'll ever eat. Great coffee and a cozy atmosphere make this the perfect place to start your day. Be sure to include some homemade baked goods with your order!
Meh. The old man barista was rather surly. Americano was okay but the ladies cappuccino was bitter and bland. Served in nasty foam Costco cups. Pretty lame for a corner coffee shop.
Nice spot to enjoy a coffee. Music in the evening is a treat, small but sweetly set with a few tables could use a few more chairs as people drifted in. Locals like to park for the morning, tough to linger w/o seating

Another great find in this town. Not one of the so called "featured" dining choices, rather a hidden gem. Very clean and comfortable environment, great service Food was terrific too.
This place was terrible. I came in, sign said "seat yourself", which I did, and then I sat there for over 20 minutes and couldn't get any type of service. After not being able to find anyone to help me, I just left and went somewhere else. It was busy but not overly crowded. Very frustrating experience.
A hidden spot in Saugatuck/Douglas. Excellent food and service. I am a burrito master.....and they make a good burrito. Have been there for lunch 10 plus times, and I can assure you it is a good stop for lunch.

The place to be and be seen in Saugatuck. Funky, shabby chic that just works! CASH only. The tuna melt is excellent but the real reason to sit on the outdoor dock is to hear great ( and LOUD) music and kick back with a beer or more. It's right on the water and worth the visit
Great food and drinks in a very fun atmosphere. Try the tuna salad with pita bread. Just amazing!
Pulled pork sandwich was delicious and huge... so glad my husband and I split it. Fun, place with... like the sign says... good food, cold beer and loud music. Came here for lunch. Might go back for dinner and we're only in this area 2 days. Wish I could bring this place home with me to Calif

My girlfriend and I ordered a pie here after getting foxed out of all the high end restaurants in downtown saugatuck. We ordered onion on both halves, and split green pepper and green olive on each side. We drove over to pick it up, the place is as advertised, a convience store that has a pizza oven in the middle. The pizza was not as ordered (olives everywhere). I've had much better pizzas, but it beat starving. Quality comparable to Hot and Ready at twice the price.
Best pizza in Douglas/Saugatuck, yes I know that sounds crazy but it is true. Pizza crust is great and prices are reasonable.
Discovered the pizza here. Worthy contender..
