Why am I giving this Popeye's 4 Stars? I've learned that Chicken franchises inside the D do their chicken better than outside of it. The KFC on the Detroit side of 8 mile near Eastpointe doesn't count though, they suck. Food sucks. Service sucks. Forgive me if they have changed but the last chance I gave them was 3 years ago but I gave them 10 years to change so.... Popeye's. Pros: The chicken and sides are the best I've had at any chicken chain. I like it spicy and they deliver. For some reason the chicken is juicier, fresher. The mashed potatoes homier, it's like someone's grandma is cooking. Red beans & rice and other sides just taste better than other Popeye's locations I've been to. Cons: I gained 2 pounds just thinking about writing this review. Count on your gallbladder spasming because you will exceed your recommended fat intake for the entire week in one sitting. Bums may accost you while you order the drive thru. They are slowwww here but good things come to those who wait, because they are taking the time to cook it right. Some of the drive thru girls mumble incomprehensibly. They run out of items a lot. They sometimes give you some other side than what you ordered but that seems to be common to all chicken chains. Not the safest feeling area for us wussies who live in the burbs.
