Stopped here for lunch when they were not even supposed to be open. They were short staffed but did a great job. Food is delicious as well!

Katitlyn and Tina were top notch bartenders! Also included Ebony and Kim! 1st time here and we will definitely return! We did not try the food however.

Do you love loud places? Enjoy a wait staff that screams at each other? How about employees taking shots on the job and acting like morons? Then this is the place for you! Good points: - Fish and Chips were tasty (however overpriced) - Fries were good (but swimming in an oil puddle) Bad points: - Saw employees taking shots and drinking during their job - Saw a waitress dance and sing around like a drunken fool - Took forever to pay because waitress was chit chatting - Employees screaming back and forth to each other - Water is in a bottle. YOU HAVE TO PAY FOR WATER. Water should never cost $1.50 - Rude host that just pointed us to a table not even saying a word or asking how many people we had - Husbands Sub sandwich thingy was bland and un-enjoyable - So dirty. Floors, tables, everything I WILL NEVER EVER EVER COME HERE AGAIN

I'm not really a sports person, in fact, I've never even been to a Red Wings game. My friend got tickets for the game and suggested that we meet here. Maybe it was the fact that I got lost twice trying to find the place that the beer tasted so good. I was just glad to sit down to a cold brewski instead of being stuck and lost in traffic. The Supreme pizza was pretty tasty, and complimented the beer quite well. This little joint isn't too bad for a brew or two and some bar food before catching a game at the Joe.

Cobo Joe's is one of my favorite places to go before a Red Wings game. It's got an all Wings atmosphere, but isn't necessarily the only you'd reason go there... hey, it's Hockeytown... you're going to get some Wings garb a lot of places you go in Detroit. An old school Italian pizza joint is the theme with red and white checkered table cloths, so you might as well follow suit and try the pizzas. The pizzas are thin, the crust is crunchy and the cheese is runny. To top it off, they have good ranch at Cobo's... anyone worth a damn knows that ranch is key to good pizza! Park in one of the lots just north of Cobo Joe's for $10 or so, and you can climb the steps of Cobo Arena and walk all the way through to see the Red Wings. Or just stop in for a good dinner or lunch.

We ordered a BLT - great fries, nice waitress. Good service. After we ordered we heard from locals that they have the best pizza in Detroit - next time! Note: added bonus, free wi-fi

Living on and off my entire life here in the D, I did not know this place existed until a few months ago. I normally go directly to the Wings game from the west side, but met up here with some friends downtown before the CCHA championship game. I was surprised to see the size of the place and the crowd within. It's a good sports bar. Plenty of TVs to watch games, menu of bar food including decent burgers and fries. Parking next door in one of a couple of garages. Short walk to the Joe or the air conditioned COBO arena.

Cobo Joe's survives because it's near JLA and Cobo. The food there is marginally acceptable. If you're going to drink you go next door to the Post. I'd eat here again, but only if someone were paying. It's typical bar food, although surprisingly, they had a good selection of salads.

Went to Cobo Joes to celebrate my Dad's 60th birthday before heading to Wings game. The management and waitresses were exceptional!- so welcoming, accommodating and quick. They served our large group with ease. Food was great and drinks were reasonably priced- can't ask for more in my opinion. Really fun atmosphere for drinks and dinner before or after a game. We'll definitely be back!

Right next to Cobo Hall and the Joe Louis Arena, Cobo Joe's is a bar, and burger joint. Don't expect anything special w/ the decor...it's plain, a little dirty and cramped. Burgers were just ok, w/ stale buns, but you definitely have to get the fried Mac n Cheese App.... I never knew mac n cheese could be so d*&m good!

Lots of write-ups about the food here, but I want to talk about the service. I messaged the owner, Richard, about setting something special up for me and my lady on Valentine's day. He put me in touch with Linda, the GM, and we came up with getting a heart-shaped pizza made. She even took a reservation (which I understand is not generally the case here) to make sure we had our seat and we got to enjoy our pre-game festivities. These guys get it! I'll post again about the food, but I'm already a MAJOR fan of these guys based on customer service alone!

Food: 4 stars. Great selection of pizza, burgers and sandwiches. Close to the Joe, awesome parking makes it a winner. However. cobo Joe's hasn't gotten the memo. On offering craft beer. Beer selection: 0 stars. Overall: 1 star. Go for the food, leave and go elsewhere for the beer.

My burger was good but the ribs were terrible. The service was ok but very unorganized. The food was given out quickly though. It was an overall alright place for a quick bite and had some good depending on what you get but personally it wouldn't be my first choice of places to eat again.

Tried several different bbq items, they were ok. Didn't like any of the sauces. Wings were meh. 2 stars because the server was cute and quick with the drink orders.

Fantastic all around! Heard they have a new smokehouse BBQ menu so I had to stop in. Ribs were SO tender. We had homemade pizza and hamburgers, too. Beer was ice cold and tasted great. Atmosphere is SO fun! Staff is efficient and super friendly. Going back down for the next Red Wings game. When the Tigers come back to town, I'll be in all the time. I've heard Justin Verlander was in here before! GO TIGERS. But try their new BBQ menu. BEST in downtown. Thanks for the fun. See you guys soon!

We went here right before a Red Wings game. The service was decent and the food was quite good for bar food. Of course being packed with Red Wings fans it was extremely loud and rowdy inside. But I do recommend this place if you need a bite to eat before a game just leave plenty of time to do so.

We went to Cobo Joe's while at a convention at Cobo Hall. We wanted to escape a "box lunch" which was provided with our convention sticker on our name badge. It's close to Cobo Hall, but the food left a little to be desired. Most of us ordered Burgers and the burgers came out in various stages of doneness, and not necessarily the doneness we requested. The bun was very big and fell about as you ate it. The fries or onion rings came out cold, but we did receive replacements later during our lunch, after our burgers were nearly finished. The tip was automatically added to the bill, which was kind of unexpected in such a dive, but we got out none the worse for wear. Cobo Joe's Bar might be more fun if you've just left a Red Wings game and are pretty well wasted when you get there, but the first customers of the day looking for lunch don't seem to get the full "character" of the establishment. Next time I'll probably just go with the box lunch served at Cobo Hall. I am being generous with two stars and I won't be back...

I'm tempted to give this place five stars, because the night I went, the beer was free! I stopped in after work to have a drink with some coworkers, and stumbled into a free promo being offered because of an IT conference going on at Cobo. Free beer aside, the bar is a typical hole-in-the-wall when there's no Wings game, but I understand it's the place to be before the Wings play. It's near where I work, so I have a feeling I'll be here again before long.

Burger was good along with service but $4.50 for a Miller Lite in a dive bar. Unacceptable! Will not be back.

Came here Friday to kill time before the RW vs. TML that night. Total dive bar, hole in the wall. My Killians tall draft was barely cold, and tasted like it was poured from glass to glass back and forth until all natural carbonation was lost. When my server spilled my beer on me and she walked away I thought she went to get a towel. Instead she took the order of the table next to us, and disappeared until the bill came.

Cobo Joes is a MUST before a Red Wings game. The food is great and a hell of a lot cheaper then the food at the Joe. The atmosphere is amazing! Fans from both teams close together for a meal, very intimate... But also can be very weird for introverts. You are literally right next to Eachother if you sit at the long tables.. The guys next to me arm is touching me as I type this... But it's worth it.

I LOVE THIS PLACE!!!!! I've been coming here for years, for the hockey fights on TV and the burgers!! I love their burgers, and they offer a few really good ones!! They make their own chips, they have delicious pizza, lots of sandwich choices, and I freaking really just love the laid back hole in the wall atmosphere... it's refreshing!! LOL Did I mention hockey fights on TV and burgers?? Did I also mention it's 2 minutes off I-75, there is a parking garage right next door and it's literally seconds to head home with the Lodge being about 1000 feet away?? So, to recap, I LOVE THIS PLACE!!! /HOCKEY!!!! BURGERS!!! PIZZA!!!

Cobo Joes is must if you go to Cobo Hall. Why? Not because the food is the best, not because it has the greatest music, and not because it is huge/sparkling. It is a staple in the city. It just is! Drinks are strong, staff is kick-ass, and the fire-show adds some entertainment. This is 100% the place to take out of towers for a classic sports bar, kitchy feel. They can work a fryer too if you want greased out munchie food. Again, not 5 star dining but definitely some good 'bad for you' snacks. C'mon....get Cobo'ed!

I haven't been to Cobo Joe's in many many years. I think they used to be a couple doors down in less of a dive location. Anyway, before going to the boat show, I looked at them online and saw they now smoke their own meat. Always wanting to compare others with mine, I had to try it. For $13 I had 1/2 lb of brisket and 2 sides... Mac n cheese was ok, and PLENTY of onion rings. Unfortunately, the brisket was only ok too. On a scale from 1-10 I'd give it a 6. (I guess I'm partial to my own. I haven't found any anywhere else that compares. But to be fair, I have admittedly found smoked ribs and chicken that have beat mine up). My buddy ordered his burger medium, but there was no pink to be found inside whatsoever. As part of a Tuesday happy hour special, we each got 4 wings with our entrée. The wings were good, but the variety of sauces they offer were rather nondescript. If I was there on a fun Red wing game night, I think the excitement of the crowd might've added a star for atmosphere.
