French onion soup was good, but nothing else would make me consider going back. Chicken kebab was edible but rather dry and flavorless. BBQ sauces were all meh/generic BBQ sauce taste. Very middle-of-the-road midwestern food that reminded me of cafeteria food. Some in the group liked their meat dishes more than I (a quarter-chicken BBQ dish was said to be good).

Recently went back. The fries being served are not the quality that they used to serve. The quality of the meat for the ribs has also gone down by a lot. I used to go there all the time but the lower quality food is pushing me away. Their loaded potato soup is still the best and it continues to be high quality. The wait staff continues to be top notch. I drive by the restaurant quite a bit and their parking lot is not anywhere as full as it used to be.

My family & I were visiting the area for the Hockey Town Fest, so we stopped in for dinner & it was great! The food was fairly priced & delicious. Our waiter was an absolute sweetheart. I would highly recommend this place for everyone looking for great bit to eat!

I have been eating here since I was a kid & it never gets old. I've actually eaten here a few times in the same week & could have cared less that I was repeating. I will admit though, it's hard not to order their ribs because they are so good, sure once in a while I'll get a batch that is a little dry but 95% of the time they are fall of the bone tender & their sauce...it's the bomb. I actually freeze the sauce leftovers when I get carryout & add it to my chili as my secret ingredient. Other than the ribs I'm a HUGE fan of their french onion soup as well as their Greek pita, chicken sandwich, Reuben, the chicken Roma, and their house bread is so good all by itself though I like to dip it in their BBQ sauce :) My friend often gets their ribs & shrimp & loves it & my cousin would probably make out with their prime rib (only available on Sunday) if she could!!

Hmm, what to say? It wasn't horrible, but I'm not sure why they include the letters BBQ in their name because that's kind of misleading. The hubs and I went on a whim because we live close and were in the mood for some pulled pork and mac n cheese. One would expect these basics at a BBQ joint. Uh, nope. I was disappointed to find a wide variety of items on the menu, ranging from chicken parmesan to broasted chicken to kebobs. They do have BBQ chicken, but it's just a piece of chicken with BBQ sauce slathered on it. Don't get me wrong, I wasn't ticked at the whole non-BBQ thing, just a little surprised because it wasn't what I was expecting or in the mood for. Since other Yelpers had raved about this place, we decided to scrape our taste buds clean and start over. Hubs ordered ribs and I had fried shrimp and a chicken kebob. They both came with fries and a piece of their famous 'big bread'. I will admit, my chicken kebob was pretty darn tasty, but the shrimp tasted like something from a coney restaurant, and their famous bread was more like a piece of texas toast with some some country crock on it. Upon looking at my husbands face, I could tell he was having a similar experience. After we were done eating, he looked up and said "It's never a good thing when the best part of your meal are the french fries.". Yowzer. If not for our hard-working waiter, I probably would have given 2 stars. However, I may give it another try. I feel I may have gone in unfairly because I had my heart set on something that wasn't going to happen and I felt the sting of betrayal. Filet Mignon probably wouldn't have made me happy at that point.

Serviceable barbecue. Nothing special. I had the lunch special: pulled pork sandwich with fries for 5.49. The pork definitely came from frozen but it was okay. The French onion soup was good, not too salty and with lots of cheese. I didn't see any brisket or pulled pork on the regular menu, so I'm not sure how they can call themselves a barbecue joint. However, if you want a cheap lunch, it's pretty decent. I'd come again.

This place is pretty good for BBQ but nothing out of the ordinary special. The ribs can be dry, but are ok. The BBQ chicken is really good, as is the broasted chicken and fried shrimp. I would say this place is comparable in taste and price to The Bone Yard on telegraph. But not comparable to other more authentic BBQ places like Redsmoke or Slows downtown.

They've still got it. We ordered the usual, Ribs for 2, and were not disappointed. We upgraded to the French Onion Soup, which was excellent, and went with Potato Wedges. The Ribs were very meaty and the Texas Toast was perfect. That's always my wife's favorite. She even ordered an extra one, just in case. Our Grandson went with us and he enjoyed a big burger and fries. The service was attentive and friendly and we enjoyed our dinner. 4 stars and I'll be back...

Pretty much the same place we loved to take the kids out to dinner when we lived near here.. Nice tasty pork kabobs.. The onion & green pepper pieces are a bit smaller now, but all in all ... Nice & juicy.. The Bbq sauce is and was always a favorite. Good, thick salad dressings...w/ 1000 island still my pick...love the big piece of grilled garlic toast...all the was really missing was the long green onion they served w/ the dinner... We all loved to chop it up on toss it in our baked potato..... We will always having the long green onion forever in our hearts & oh yes on the picture on the wall when u walk in... Overall a long standing tried & true favorite.... We won't stay away so long next time!

What a great discovery. The pork shish kebabs was excellent. Garden salad big piece of garlic bread, baked potato. Bigger portions than I could eat, took some home for me. All for less than $10.

Very good BBQ. Other items on the menu are good. Shrimp dinners have huge shrimp but also lots of batter coating. Salads are very good. Everything has generous portions. Service is good as well.

We went there for dinner on Friday night, and it was abysmal. The food was awful, the service worse. I don't know if they have new owners or what but WOW. Salad was watery lettuce with one small tomato and 4 croutons, with the wrong dressing. My "medium well" steak was shoe leather and beyond well done. My husband got the ribs and they were very dry and tough. We won't be going back.

I will say the portion is huge - that's definitely a plus - and pretty much the only one. The drink selection - if you can call it that - had about terrible options. The ribs were a good size, the sauce was decent - but nothing to write home about. The breading on the onion rings was bad. The wedges weren't flavored. The fish was okay. Honestly, you'd be better off doing your own bbq.

My fiancé and I were just driving around and seeing what was around since we just moved to Dearborn heights. We thought we would try this place out. Not too impressed. I thought it would be more of a BBQ joint, but it was more like a upscale Coney Island. Food was good, don't have much of a drink selection. We just got pitas, they were good.

My family and I had a terrible experience at this restaurant! We called ahead of time informing the staff at the restaurant of how many people would be in our party. When we arrived at the restaurant it was very cold inside (like the heat was not on). We tried to place our orders and the waitress took two orders then came back 20 minutes later to take the rest. It took a little over an hour before all of our food was brought out. Once we received our food some of the orders were cold. I spoke with the manager regarding the service and he told me he has been doing this for 30 years and if we didn't like the service oh well! I told the manager I would be writing a review about his restaurant so other people will know what to expect and he basically said soooo! I will never go to this restaurant again! The service was very poor, the food was cold, and the restaurant was cold! Don't waste your time!

This is my favorite restaurant period. I love this place, barbecue chicken and shrimp combination is my favorite plate. They also have the best french onion soup you will ever have.

This place does it for me!!!! Everything's always delicious. Their BBQ ribs are like no other. I'll go to a restaurant nowadays and I'll get seated at a dirty table.. Makes me lose my appetite .. This has never happened here. Always so tidy & clean! Friendly staff as well. Whenever I pick up a carry out- it's brung out to me way before I even give them my name! That's how quick they are. This place never disappoints! It's only getting 5 stars because I can't give them more!!!!!

First off, I will say that this place is my mother in law's favorite place to go out to lunch at. And this place has a reputation for knowing her well enough that they set an iced tea for her when they see her driving into the parking lot. My wife and her mother's cousin booked space for my mother in law's surprise birthday party here. This place kept the secret from her. They were accommodating when we arrived early to set up a banner and tie balloons to the chairs. We had ordered several family style meals. The salads were large platters of lettuce, meat, cheese, tomatoes and onions. The shrimp was battered with a light crispy golden batter and almost as large as a chicken thigh piece. The meal came with platters of broasted chicken, platters of french fries, platters of sauced barbequed ribs and thick toasted pieces of garlic bread. Regrettably, I was not able to taste the barbequed ribs, because I have a pork allergy. I can only report that everyone at the table was raving about how good they were. Nor can I report about how good the salad was, because I can't eat ice berg lettuce due to lactose intolerance nor could I eat the slices of pork on it due to my allergy. All I can say is that my seven year old niece who is a notoriously finicky eater liked it. The bread was flavorful enough that I didn't miss the salad. And the shrimp made up for not being able to eat the ribs. They have some of the best fried shrimp in the Metro Detroit area. As a Barbeque joint, they should be proud of that. The staff was friendly and polite. They very frequently checked all of the tables to see if everything was okay and refilling drinks. And that was on top of having to deal with our table of 14 guests.

I use to come here a lot when I worked in the area and the food was always consistent. It's been awhile and things have definitely changed. First of all, the ribs use to be one of the best around. Now the ribs lack any type of smoky flavor and the bbq sauce is disappointing. If you like ribs that have been baked in the oven, this is the place. This is your typical family restaurant except its cleaner than most. It's small but never crowded and has ample parking. Nothing fancy but everything is neat and the bathroom is updated. Two rib and shrimp dinners, two kids meals, two sundaes, drinks, and a glass of wine was only $55. I noticed quite a bit of breading on the jumbo shrimp but it was still good. The coleslaw is very basic. Straight out of a bag. The side salad is very basic as well, iceberg lettuce with croutons and cherry tomatoes. The baked potato and fries were ok. Everything was edible but I won't be back anytime soon.

The pork kebob was dry and had no flavor. The food was just average. On a whole the waiter was terrible! I told him I had a gluten allergy and asked several questions about the menu. He said he didn't know but never offered to check with the kitchen. I had to ask him to please check. He did not communicate my needs with the kitchen because my food came out with a piece of Texas toast on it. When I told him thus he just said it will be ok. We told him no it was not ok when someone has a gluten allergy. There was half of my food I could not eat and he offered no compensation. After that he was elusive and didn't tend to us at all. We had to signal for him or ask someone else for things we needed. I would NOT recommend this place to anyone.

Ribs are ok. Don't have that much meat on the bones and theyre typically pretty dry to be called good ribs. Seems like maybe they either over smoke the ribs or they are pre cooked and then set under a heating lamp to dry out. They have a great hamburger and fries meal if you're looking for a good ol American meal for a decent price

A large group of us (27) had lunch on Valentines day. I called 2 days ahead of time and gave a pre-order 1 day ahead of time. Not only was all of our food done, but the staff was so well organized that no one had any complaints. There were no mix up on the orders and we were in and out in 45 minutes. I cannot praise the staff enough. What an excellent experience!

This is a great BBQ / Broasted chicken place in Dearborn... It's almost a hidden gem since many people don't know about it because it's not in a popular area of Dearborn. Westpoint gives you a big amount of food. Lot of their meals, you can actually share and you should unless you like leftovers. I'm a big fan of their chicken or pork shish kabok. Get 1 skewer if it's just for you. Get 2 skewers if you want to share. The dinner comes with broasted fries (or other type of potatoes), giant garlic bread, & salad. I usually get feta cheese added to the salad and put some slices of chicken in the salad... very delicious! I have had their ribs and they are pretty good too! (ask for extra sauce because you can use it for the ribs and for the broasted fries!) Their prices are great. Last time I went with a group of 3 people and we paid under $30 and had some leftovers! (2 of us shared a dinner). We were full. I'm a fan.

I grew up eating WestPointe BBQ. I have been visiting this place since I was a kid and now I'm in my early 30's and try to make it a point to come back when I'm in town visiting family & friends. The ribs and texas sized toast are the BEST! Unfortunately, I cannot review any of the other menu items because all I have ever ordered are their ribs. Yum Yum Yum!

I have eaten here several times, and have never been disappointed. Their French onion soup is excellent. The ribs and barbecue chicken are very very good, although I'm not a huge fan of their barbecue sauce. Broasted chicken was also excellent. Service here is excellent when they're not real busy, can be strained when they're full on a Friday or Saturday night. In general, portions are huge. Also, their coleslaw is outstanding.

Huge warm golden buttery toasted garlic texas toast starts out the fun.. we order chicken; and it's Broasted - not BBQ That my friends is the truth. it's covered in bbq sauce and it's been broasted. the chicken is tender but its not bbq. the fried fish in the fish and chips is crispy and delicious. that's actually my favorite from this place. the soups and salads are always a good light bet the boneless bbq chicken sandwich on texas toast is a good eat, and there's going to be leftovers. their fries are crispy, fat and round; best dipped liberally in bbq sauce. Their location on Michigan ave near Telegraph make them easily reachable from anywhere.

I'm not sure why people think this place is so great. I went there with 4 other people and none of us were impressed. It was edible but nothing to rave and write home about. The sauce was watery and flavorless. Definitely did not hit the spot when I was craving BBQ. I've had better at Chili's and Applebee's.

I had heard that this was the place to go for some good bbq. Unfortunately I was greatly disappointed. We got a plate of ribs to share and they were mostly fat and gristle. The day we went was hot and the restraunts a/c was not working and the overall cleanliness was subpar. We will never be going there again.

My parents would always come here when my brother and I stayed with friends... now I understand why... they didn't want to share! Jake and I came here on Sunday for ribs. Their prices are almost too low. A rack of ribs for 2 comes with a HUGE rack of ribs, two soup/salad/or coleslaws, 2 orders of potatoes and two pieces of Texas toast, all for only $18.99. With two waters and an upcharge for their French onion soup ($1.69) our bill was only about $22 before the tip. The ribs were a little dry, not as 'come off the bone' as I like, but they were MEATY and still tasted really good, just needed extra bbq sauce. The service was GREAT. The waiter checked on us often and treated us like we were regulars. I'll definitely go back to try their BBQ chicken! Or maybe just to have their delicious ribs again?

I went here for lunch this week with my lunch crew. I didn't really have a taste for anything in particular, so Rodger W suggested The Westpoint. People who know me realise that I have a special place for BBQ, but this day I just wasn't into it. I wasn't really hungry enough for a rib meal. So I went for something off the lunch menu thinking I'd save the ribs for a second trip when I was hungry. So instead, I ordered the Bourbon Pork Tips from the lunch menu ($7.95) thinking it'll be a light lunch. Pork tenderloin, grilled onions, green pepper and mushrooms in a Bourbon sauce. The meal also came with Ranch Fries and very good Texas Toast. OMG the lunch portion was huge and the taste delicious. I hurt myself thinking I should stop halfway through the plate, but not being able to resist. Yes, I ate the whole thing... So Westpoint, I'm giving you a 4-star for now and intentionally dangling a 5-star out there until I can taste your ribs. But based on my first trip, I have a strong feeling that your ribs will knock my socks off.

We eat here about once per quarter,,,, We usually get the Game Day Feast because the wings are plentiful & TASTY and the ribs feed my family of six. I wish they did a few things differently like get a face lift (think brighter lights, refreshed seating, carpet- perhaps make it more vibrant & appealing.... expand the bar & offer music) offer more sides like (mac-n-cheese , corn on the cob etc maybe even greens..... but they don't strike me as the type)... long story short.....this is a decent place that works in a pinch.

This place is incredible. I never leave Westpoint disappointed. Every meal I've had here is exactly the same... Starts out with the best bowl of french onion soup. If you've never had french onion soup, I'd actually advise NOT to start here, because no other bowl you'll find will measure up to this stuff. The rich broth, the creamy, golden cheese, the sweet onion aroma. It's heaven in a large ceramic cup. Following the soup comes a full rack to split between me and the lady. I've honestly never seen ribs as big and meaty as the ones they serve here. If you're used to the ribs from Chili's, Outback, Applebees, etc., etc., etc., you'll be blown away. These are the real deal. When I'm in the mood for ribs, there's not a single other place that enters my mind.

This place is a good spot to stop if you want some good food. I almost always get the fish sandwich. It's pretty goood. I'm not a big fan of the BBQ...tastes like it was cooked in the oven.

I've been here three times now and each time has been worse than the last. One of my former friends loves this place so I've been forced to go back time and time again, but no more I say! Nothing about this place says BBQ. I'm pretty sure all they do is overcook everything and then pour BBQ sauce all over it which we all know is not real BBQ. I've had the chicken which is dry and uneventful and I've tried the ribs which were not even as good as the "McRib" and I'm pretty sure the McRib isn't even really pork. The shrimp was all breading and believe me when I say you don't want to pull the breading off and see the poop vain still in the shrimp YUCK! The soup however was pretty good but that's the only thing I would ever get from this place. The service was below par each time I've gone here to the point I nearly didn't leave a tip. Tables were not completely clean and the floor was dirty as well. Last time a was there I sat where I could see into the kitchen and I don't like to judge but their cook needed to be cleaned up a little to say the least. I have since ended my friendship with the person that always wanted to go here so I will never return. Now, I'm not saying it's the main reason we are no longer friends but looking back on things it makes me want to punch him in the junk for insisting we eat at this crappy place.

This restaurant would seems legit based on the number of people in the restaurant but then and again everyone can't cook ribs. I wasn't impressed by the taste of the ribs nor was I impressed by the atmosphere of the restaurant. In the restaurant I felt like I was in jail. On another note, a pro to the restaurant was their BBQ chicken.

I LOVE this place. The ribs are great, but the best is their fried fish. They clean their fryer and replace the oil frequently, which means that (like the first reviewer said) their fish is greaseless and delish! The other thing I love is that everything is homemade, not Sysco food -- their iced tea is actual brewed tea, not a powdered mix and their soups are homemade. The garlic toast is also enjoyable. My mom dislikes their ribs, but she likes dry rubbed smoked ribs or some weird thing. Who knows, certainly not me or my sauced ribs.

I've been driving around the area to try and learn the locale. Nothing stops me in my tracks faster than seeing three letters, BBQ. I drive long distances for bbq. So does any member of the Carnivore Crew of Yelp DC. Seeing how one of the previous reviewers remarked that ordering a combo plate will require taking food home, I saw this as a personal challenge. I ordered the 3 way combo which consists of 1/3 rack of ribs, 1/2 chicken, and 3 jumbo shrimp. The ribs were pretty good. Pretty sure they were beef. I could yank on a bone and the meat would come right off. The sauce was really nothing to write home about but the meat was pretty good. The chicken was a little dry for my taste. For every bite of chicken, I had to gulp down some tea to help get it down. The fried shrimp was ok. The batter on the shrimp tasted like the same kind of batter you would expect on fried fish or fish and chips. Not something that I prefer, but still ok. I got the fries, cole slaw, and "special bread" (Texas Toast) with my combo. The fries and cole slaw were ok. The Texas Toast was pretty good. I ate all the meat and left behind the cole slaw and some of the fries. Maybe when I don't have a cold, I'll eat the whole thing. The service was great. The place has a lodge feel to it and seems pretty family oriented. The prices are pretty good as my meal with iced tea was under 20 bucks. The next time I go, I'm probably going to stick with the ribs, or possibly try the fish.
