I've been to Sareini's twice for lunch. The first time I asked for pasta. The pasta was overcooked, the sauce good but not amazing, and when I asked for parmesean cheese to sprinkle on top, I was charged extra without being told in advance. I gave it another shot because friends LOVE this place (it's super popular among the Dearborn working crowd). My second visit yielded two pieces of pizza that had clearly been in a warmer for far too long (hard, congealed cheese). However, I can confirm that the sauce was still very good. The toppings were good but not great. This place has great potential and I'm sure their piping hot fresh pizzas are good, but after two poor experiences at lunch time I think I'll retire this spot for now and can't really justify more than two stars. Note: the map shows them at Greenfield and Shaefer. Don't listen to it. Google Maps is correct: it is at the intersection of Greenfield and Rotunda, next to Senate Coney Island.

I get so tired of chain pizza, so I'm always stoked to find a great local place. Sareinis is everything I could ask for. The crust is perfect, the toppings are always super fresh, real cheese (of course), and the sauce is to die for! The owner is proud to tell you that it comes directly from a top chef in Italy. They've got fresh slices available for lunch, and the bread sticks and "foldies" (think calzone) are also outstanding.

I happened to drive by this place when I hadn't eaten and was headed back to the hotel. I stopped in intending to order a slice but it was 7 pm and the owner was just doing full pies. He told me he would make me a personal size pizza though. He asked me what I wanted and then offered up a couple of suggestions after I told hi I wanted ham and pineapple.. he suggested bacon crumbles and rubbing the crust with garlic. I told him that would be great. While I waited he offered me a free drink so just took a cup of water. When he was done he came over and showed me the pizza and told me if I didn't like it he would remake it. This was the best experience I've had at a restaurant in a while. Be sure to patronize it if you can. Business appeared slow and I hate to see small places like that suffer in this economy.

Always an odd experience going in here. They charge $1 for self service fountain drink refills, which I haven't seen in quite some time. They charge extra for packets of mayo. They sell bottles of soda which typically have expired dates on them, to which I was told didn't matter. I was told they would charge me extra if I use a credit card. Food is fine, but not worth dealing with it all.
