So, hey.....it was between 7-8am on the Saturday before the 2014 Detroit Lions v Buffalo Bills game. Im a lifelong Lion fan, who'd been living in Atlanta. My pops is a Bills fan. We drove up from ATL, and tired as hell, we found this place before we got into Detroit. It was difficult to find any type of breakfast place in the area, aside from Michigan Ave. We were greeted with friendly hospitality, and hd our order taken within 5 minutes. Coffee was fresh, and replenished regularly. The food was on our table within 15 minutes, and was hot/warm....right off the griddle. For the pri, and the time of day, ad my level of exhaustion and hunger. RED OLIVE FIT THE BILL 100%

When this place first opened, it wasn't bad~ I might have given them 3 stars, possible 4. But lately it seems they are trying to get the food out fast and not good. I would rather wait a few minutes longer and get good food, not fast food. Disappointed, waitress was friendly

In my many many visits to this Red Olive I can say that I have been pleased with the food and the service. The food is fresh and ALWAYS tasty. There is one waitress, unfortunately I do not know her name, that is EXCEPTIONAL! She is a petite woman with short brown hair. Probably the best waitress with consistently excellent service that I have ever had in my life. I frequently get a salad and the greens are always crisp and fresh. No brown sections or lettuce from the core like some restaurants. The price for what you get is second to none. Love, love, love this gem of a place. If I were to give any constructive criticism it would be that other waitresses could learn from the actions of the one that excels here. The cashiers could also be more friendly not to say they are rude.

I have visited this place for breakfast more than once. Each time, I mainly saw senior citizens as their customers. That is too bad, because they have a really nice Greek omellotte with tdziki sauce and gyros meat.

The food is just meh. The menu is extensive and they present you with a book to order from with hundreds of choices. I've been there twice and have experienced cheaply prepared food a felt kind of ripped off. The saganaki is a complete rip off. I was really hoping for delicious homemade items and ended up with GFS garbage. The dining room smelled like cigarette smoke. I notified two members of the waitstaff and was quickly dismissed so I went to the front desk. I spoke to who I assumed was the owner. He tried dismissing me but then quickly blamed one of the other patrons for smoking in the bathroom on occasion but then did nothing. It really smelled like someone was smoking in the kitchen. Needless to say, I won't be back anytime soon.

I was surprised by how large the menu here was...it took a very long time to decide what to eat. I thought it was just a standard coney but it's a coney plus middle-eastern place with a decent american food menu too. I just ordered a chicken cesar wrap & some onion rings & both were good. The wrap was big, I made 2 meals out of it so that's always a plus. My friend ordered steak & shrimp & said it was pretty good for a diner. I'd eat here again though I still prefer Holiday Grill across the street which we forgot closes at 8 on Sunday & that's why we ate at Red Olive to begin with. We ordered 2 slices of pies for dessert to take home...I had the peanut butter pie which was VERY yummy & so rich I ate that for 2 days. My friend had the chocolate lover pie & raved about how good it was. The decor in the restaurant was nice & it was clean, the service was quick & our server was very friendly. I felt terribly that we were only able to leave a $3 tip & our bill was over $40 which I thought was pretty high for a diner & we only had $45 on us. Normally we are much better tippers...I dug every quarter I had out of my purse too but we had planned on eating at Holiday & they are quite a bit cheaper but don't have as good dessert (which is probably why, ha ha).

Great food and good prices. Usually not a wait and always consistent. Service has always been good as well. Its here or Leon's for family dining/coney in Dearborn.

I have been a frequent visitor to this restaurant since I live nearby and I have generally had good experiences but lately, not so great. I was wavering between 2 and 3 stars and decided to go with 3 because the food is good. They have a great selection for vegetarians and will leave off meat and give you a discount; love this part. Waitstaff is generally good, although tonight was so-so; I thought my waitress was slow and somewhat inattentive. The thing that really bothers me is how rude and unfriendly the greeter/cashier is; she is always very dismissive and never thanks customers. I wish they would have her work in the back. I heard her thank her co-workers for doing things, but apparently, she does not feel it is necessary to have the same courtesy with customers, or perhaps there is something else going on.

Stopped in here because one of my friends said that they had great salads. I had to go to the office place in this little strip mall and saw the restaurant and thought Mmmmm I am going to get me a salad. Sure enough - the salad was great! Took a carry out and did not eat inside, but the waitresses seemed nice enough. A little expensive for a salad though. Oh well, I guess I can afford it!!!!

I have visited numerous times for breakfast. Service is always spot on and the coffee is good. They have a great special Monday-Saturday, until 11AM where any omelette on the menu is $3.99. They are always cooked spot on, not undercooked or overdone. The hash browns are your normal shredded kind, but all in all very tasty.

Large variety of foods on the menu. Food ranges from good to excellent, as does the service. Gyros Deluxe adds some Feta cheese, and is great. Homemade soups are good. Try the Rosa Marina. Restaurant and restrooms are very clean, and the ambiance is one step above the average Coney Island. Cost is a little high, but portions make it a good value.

Well, the Snicker Bar Cake is pretty good. Once I found out this "family restaurant" is a diner (is this the code name used in Michigan?), I adjusted expectation accordingly. With a menu that is literally a book, I asked the wait staff for her recommendation of what's different and unique in a Michigan diner, she said this place is known for salads and Greek food. The dish Greek combo came with a bowl of soup, it was very salty like the chef forgot to dilute soup concentrate salty. Moussaka and Pastitsio could use some nutmeg in the Béchamel sauce, as it is a bit bland. Gyro meat is the processed ground-and-molded kind, like the ones you get at most US gyro shacks. As a diner, I wonder how this would rank against other diners. Greek food is meh.

This a great example of a great restaurant with poor customer service. Food is exceptional quality all the time. I love Red Olive for that but thats only 50% of the experience. The waitress was clueless and zoned out, the place smells like acetone nail polish remover due to the salon next door and the staff wouldn't accept a 20% coupon off their website because it was not printed out but rather on my phone. Wouldn't really come here often enough even though I live across the street. I would say try it and experience for your self its not that bad. Just make sure you print your coupon so you don't have to take any crap from the girl at the register wearing an I love Pink pajama hoodie (very professional) and stay away from the fish and chips!!!

I've eaten here a few times, and every time has been just phenomenal. Every dish I've ordered whether it be a burger and fries, a chicken and cheese wrap, a simple soup and salad, they've all had quite a taste to them. It's not your average bland diner. However I don't think they recognize the fact that they are indeed a diner. A bit pricey, the chicken wrap and burger were at a price where you'd think it included fries or chips. Unfortunately that was not the case, a la carte if you will. I don't think a simple diner/coney meal for one person should be $15-$17, depending on tip. Stil, the food keeps me coming back.

I tried this place once and I left quite satisfied. The food took a while and the wait staff was, well, the in between, transient high school to community college type (not surprised). Not very knowledgeable as they probably are just looking for spending cash at Old Navy and a place that gives steady pay. Otherwise, I think the portions are quite good. Price is slightly higher than avg for a diner but I can almost get two meals out of it. Like the other yelper said I think the food is prepared well. Vegetable soup is excellent and I also enjoyed the stir fry although the chicken in my and my girlfriend's dish was a little dry and overcooked. But in general I prefer the food here over other diners and had no real unexpected complaints. I will be back.
