I made a trip out to this place with 8 other friends from work. The service was really bad. We had to ask for everything, the waitress didn't offer to refill sodas or bring additional silverware when it was missing at the table. The food was pretty good. The garlic sauce was very watery and seemed like it had been made too much in advance. After dinner we got some hookahs. The hookah was good and burned well but the service continued to be less than desirable. The company on the trip was fantastic but next time we'll try another place.

This place was terrible. My friends and I decided to give it a try about a week ago for Iftar. We ate from the buffet which was a bit overpriced in my opinion considering that 90% of the food they had was either vegetables or some kind of noodles. They only had one type of meat there and it was grilled chicken which was a bit bland. The wait staff were horrible, they completely forgot that we were at the restaurant and thus drinks were not refilled and empty plates were not hauled away. To make things worst, they included an 18% gratuity in the bill which came out to roughly $24. We thought that the 18% tip was a bit outrageous considering that the wait staff were terrible and didn't serve us anything beyond the cups of water and the first round of drinks, there were no refills. We had the manager take the tip off the bill and we tipped accordingly. We came to the conclusion that the wait staff must have been a bit busy considering that the restaurant was packed and it was Ramadan. What got to me the most is that when food ran out, they refused to bring more, for example when the salad ran out, they refused to bring any more out, that really irritated me. So we decided that we should give them one more chance and we went back there today. Again, the service was horrible. The waitress was mean and snobby, the drinks didn't get refilled, and the gratuity was mandatory. Also, the food is not that good for them to ask for $9 for a chicken burger. The place is heavily overpriced. In addition, there is no reason for the service to be horrible this time around considering that Ramadan is over and the place was deserted. Needless to say, this is one place I will not be going back to, ever!! I have never been treated this horribly at a restaurant before. Maybe it is because the waitress was going to get her tip whether we liked it or not?

Lava Java Cafe - when you walk in and look around it appears that you have just entered into a volcano! The walls are orange/red like fire, lava is pouring from the walls, there are leather couches and tables for patrons. Has a fireplace and a chair with a microphone. I asked about entertainment and he said Friday/Saturday nights - arabic music. Invited me back so that I can hear the music. Called in a carry-out at 11:15 a.m. on a Saturday and told him I would be by inat noon to pick it up. I ordered hummous, fattoush with grilled chicken and tabbouli with pita bread. Very delicious and fresh. I had a Restaurant.com coupon for $10 and had to spend $22 - no problem! When I got there there were two young ladies who had ordered smoothies and then left, so I was the only one in the estabishment. Parking is right outside the door, very convenient. The two young men inside were very nice and gracious. I probably will go back, not for sure though because it is a little out of the way from my house, but definitely worth the trip!

Only thing great about this place is their hookah's and hand made pizza. Service ain't all that, and on the weekends when they begin the music portion of the night around 10-11pm, it is extremely loud. Singer things he's amazing of course, and I don't do well with loud. Can only tolerate so much until I call it a night and leave. They too are almost always out of certain syrups to make lattes there. The raspberry hot chocolate is my favorite.

The food is not great. I ordered a panini and a salad. They were both mediocre. The tomatoes in the salad were mushy and the cheese in my panini was barely melted. The service however, was quick. For the people who smoke argileh, I hear there is no place better. With that said, don't go for the food, rather the atmosphere.

Horrible service. People here are rude. Sat there for 30 minutes and still no service. Left and never coming back. Not worth the money!!

I finally got around to checking out a Ramadan Iftar buffet. Considering that this was a buffet set up, the warm food was pretty average-there was a ton of selection though. I would have been perfectly content limiting myself to munching on the hummus, baba ghanoush, and kibbeh (mmm . . . kibbeh). I also had one of their chocolate crazy coffees - perfect for someone who is not picky about coffee and loves sweet things. Absolutely no complaints here -

Love this place, it is like a hidden living room. Food is always great and the service can be terrible depending on which girl you get. Other than that its a great place to just sit back relax , and smoke a hookah.

Unscrupulous management with terrible service. Went here with a party of six. Sign on the door to the place says cover charge after 10pm. We thought that meant if you arrive past 10. Apparently it means if you are in the place when the singer starts. Cover is $7. That's reasonable. What isn't is they tried to charge us cover for each member of our party. And they added it to the bill without telling us. I spoke to the manager and demanded they remove it. Service was lousy. They are way understaffed. Waitress got our order wrong 3 times. Just overall a terrible experience.

We usually don't go here for meals, so I can't comment on the food. I can, however, comment on the desserts, hookah, and entertainment. The desserts are good, but nothing special. They have chocolate cake, cheescakes, tiramasu, etc. The lava java mix hookah with the orange head is AMAZING. It's a bit on the pricey side, but totally worth it. However, I was a bit disappointed last night because they didn't have the orange head (They ran out). That was the reason we went there! Also, on Saturday nights, they usually have an artist who sings and therefore there is a $5 cover charge. I usually enjoy the entertainment and it adds the Lava Java experience. I know some people think that the indoor decor is a bit much, but I love it! I love that they have the volcanic theme with lava lamps everywhere. But I'm cheesy like that :) And my most favorite thing about Lava Java are the waitstaff! They are always super nice and they always hook me up a little something extra when I go there. It may be little things like a scoop of ice cream with my dessert, but it totally makes me happy! Go check Lava Java out!!

I went here today for the first time and was pretty disappointed. Lets start with the atmosphere, the decor is a little tacky and over the top. It's called Lava Java so as you can guess there's "lava" all over the walls of the place. It's a young crowd, so expect to see a lot of high school kids here. Also, if you don't like a smokey environment, this place is not for you. They don't even have a nonsmoking section, and half the people there are smoking hookahs. The service was pretty bad as well. The waitress brought our appetizers and food out at the same time, never refilled our drinks and a few of the menu items weren't in stock. Most of the the chicken sandwiches have garlic dressing, which I'm not a big fan of. I asked for mayo instead, and got a garlic smothered sandwich with a side of mayo. On top of that, you could see the entire wait staff goofing around instead of at least acting busy. The food was mediocre and overpriced. A chicken sandwich with fries cost $9. My buddies were equally disappointed and we don't plan on going back anytime soon.
