On our way from Toronto to Chicago, my wife and I decided to drive through Dearborn, Michigan since it was highly recommended to us by close friends. We drive to this area and use our trusted YELP to pick a good shawarma stop. This bakery appeared on our list and it was highly spoken of by fellow yelpers. So let me say this, that I am reviewing this place all because of you yelpers out there who reviewed this place. My wife and I walked in and were amazed at all the different pastries, sweets, and types of breads they had. We ended up buying their cheesbread/manaeesh along with some spinach pies and meat pies. We didn't stay and eat the shawarma but the everything we bought from this place was DELICIOUS!! The breads and pies were absolutely amazing. On top of that, their prices are so so so amazing! I have never seen these low prices anywhere ever. Their service is fast as well and with a smile. Great place and will definitely visit this place again.

Golden Bakery is different from Shatila and New Yasmeen. It is decidedly more bare-bones, and the selection doesn't quite match up. But, I was very happy with my experience. The parking is far less crazy than at the other bakeries, for one thing. But more importantly, the food is good. The cheese bread and the spinach pies are very tasty, and super inexpensive. And, for $3.50, you can get a very tasty grape leaf sandwich, custom made with all sorts of add-ons. In the after-school/after-work hours, there is a steady stream of people in and out, coming for a quick shawarma fix, and I understand why. I think I will add this place into my Dearborn sandwich rotation.

Golden Bakery is the flagship bakery of east Dearborn, but they haven't spent a cent in maintenance or upkeep in 30 years. The place is not just shoddy, it's filthy. They have delicious products but they in no way inspire consumer confidence because of the condition of their shop.

I don't understand. Most bakeries around here are the same. If you get there at the right time and something happens to be coming out fresh, then great your lucky day! But the majority of bakeries here just reheat. Just as Golden Bakery does. Everything is just sitting out in counter tops. Cheese pies. Zaatar pies. Pep rolls. Just laying there soaking up the sun. Wtf? They all do this, fine whatever. Aside from all that, Golden has some of the worst customer service. Employees give you these blank stares. The so called "owner" hasn't smiled in years! I'm serious. Years!!! He doesn't smile. He doesn't say thank you. You feel like your inconveniencing these people by walking into their establishment. My money is green! Tell me thank u! And please, anyone who says "OMG they have great shawarma" does not live in Dearborn. Dearborn is the Mecca of shawarma. So trust me, I would never go to Golden Bakery for their shawarma. Golden attempts to specialize in bakery and breakfast items so let them keep attempting that. I'm not going to dog them about the reheating aspect of their bakery because as mentioned earlier, all the local bakeries do the same. Aside from the Yasmeen Bakery, Golden is one of the bigger places. You can actually sit down and enjoy your food for those rare occasions when they serve with someone worth enjoying. They have a ton of seating and a ton of space which is rare for this type of business. That alone gives them a +1 star. They also have this really awkward, I don't know, grocery section? A couple isles of madness. Bread and pickled items and just a bunch of random items tossed all over the place right in the middle of their store. I don't get it. Good luck making it to the front counter to place your order. There's no such thing as a line. The employees skip you for other people. You'll literally stand there for a bit and have people cut in front of you and nobody does a thing. God help this place.

Owners are getting too comfortable with their established clientele. You need to clean up the inside! The best manaeesh in Dearborn but the store is off-putting because it is not being maintained.

One of the best beef shawarma in Dearborn. Excellent selection of fresh baked goods, and a whole row of cold drinks from yogurt to fruit juices. Love this place.

Best cheese pie you will ever have! Like all the other reviews have said, Golden Bakery has the best baked goods in Dearborn. Their cheese pies are the best I've ever had. The dough is tasty and complex. I think they add sugar or something sweet. The dough is thick, yet still has the nice char from a high temp cook. The cheese is rich and blends well with the pie. However, many of the employees, especially the younger ones, are rude or inattentive. It can be hard to track down someone for service. A young female cashier tried to short change me on my last visit. While not all of the staff act the way, the bad apples have made me think about taking my business elsewhere on several occasions. For this they lose two-stars (and trust me, I'm not normally that harsh). What keeps me coming back? The best damn cheese pies you will ever eat.

Dear owners, I'm going to give you some constructive criticism, instead of simply complaining and beating up on you. You guys are trying to compete with Yasmeen bakery, but you're way too close physically to them to be able to provide some real competition. They are already established and well-known. Kind of an off-putting thing is the interior of your bakery; it is somewhat sterile. It's not as inviting as it could be. In the center of the bakery where you have that beautiful floor you have an empty space and shelves with products. The temperature inside is too low. It's cold. I saw people inside wearing jackets while eating. Think about putting some tables and chairs in the center - similar to what Shatilla did. Try having some low-volume ambient music playing in the background, perhaps some Arabic music to kind of make the environment feel more welcoming and warm. This will help on the days that you guys are really slow and people that walk in don't just come into a cold, uninviting environment where all they can hear is the sound the refrigerators running. Your pies were cold, and needed to be warmed up which was again was kind of off-putting. That makes me think that the pies are not baked fresh regardless if the oven is running in the background or not; if the lady at the front has to ask me whether I want the pies warmed up I don't really want the pies anymore. Finally I didn't quite care for the taste of the pies; perhaps it is because they were warmed up.

Low quality Lebanese bakery. You can find much better food at any other restaurants in Dearborn. While the food was cheap, the restaurant was a bit beat down and the bathrooms were dirty. The food was not the worst but for sure there are much better manaqeesh all over America and especially in Dearborn. We were told to go here by a friend who said they had good breakfast but we found that it was nothing special. For comparable price but higher quality drive down to New Yasmeen down the street or Al Mostafa Supermarket or Al-Ameer.

Only giving three stars because of the owners' dry faces. Close to my house, well as every bakery is. But I really enjoy coming for the chicken shawarma on French bread with extra garlic. Yumm.

All white meat chicken shwarmas are fantastic. All of their little breads are great. Order a zaatar w/cheese! It is quickly cooked in the oven to order and always is fresh.

I have always loved this place. My dad used to live in Dearborn and one of my favorite childhood memories is of him going out to GB on a Saturday morning, and bringing home a giant bag of cheese pies for the family for breakfast. Now that I am all growed up, I swing by here or their Ford Road location semi-frequently to get my cheese pie and shawarma fix. After reading some of the other reviews here, I may have to try the grape leaf wraps as well. Thank you GB for finding a nice place for my to put my money.

Golden Bakery used to be one of the best around but they have slipped considerably. High prices, poor quality are the new motto. One thing they have also been known for is the less than friendly service. It was the only place open and I had to feed the fam. $8 for a small styrofoam container filled with the most awful chicken shawarma I ever tasted. The hummus was old. The accompanying pickles looked like they had been recycled nine times. Do yourself a favor and keep driving by this place.

Please note that I am on a pesco-vegetarian kick right now, so did not eat any of their delicious-looking meat offerings. I tried the cheese and broccoli pizza and the cheese-stuffed bread with sesame seeds, requesting that they be warmed up. Both were solid, and I really enjoyed the cheese-stuffed bread. The cheese-stuffed sesame seed bread was very rich and, well, a little oily which just didn't seem like a bad thing! It was decadent. However, everything could have been warmed up a little bit more since it wasn't enough to get the cheese nice and melty. Unlike Le Prince Bakery on Greenfield Road, the "pizzas" are not made to order, so are not nearly as good in comparison. Since they aren't warmed up enough, either, the cheese doesn't get stretchy. That being said, the price on the breads was very affordable (2 brocolli cheese pizzas + 1 stuffed bread = $4.25) and the quality of the ingredients was apparent. I would definitely stop in again if driving by.

The BEST cheesebread/manaeesh that I have had outside of Dearborn, and definitely much cheesier then Yasmeen's. The service is fast and efficient, the food was super cheap, I just wish that the cheesebread continued to be made and served hot out of the oven past the afternoon hours.

Another amazing spot in Dearborn. I was visiting from DC and wanted a delicious spinach pie when I asked around everyone told me to go to Golden Bakery. Oh boy, were they right!! When you walk into GB all you can smell is delicious baked goodies. I got in line and ordered a small spinach pie. The dough is fresh, the spinach is fresh. My girlfriend loved them so much she ended up ordering 8 dozens to bring back to DC with us! LOL At $5.50 a dozen it was totally worth it. They literally are giving spinach pies away for free at that price. In DC it would have been twice that much for a dozen! Service was great and quick. When in MI def check out this place and order more then one spinach pie, trust me its worth it!

This is a great deli-style lunch stop. There is plenty of seating to eat in if you choose. It's the most authentic short-order food you'll find in east Dearborn (and that's saying a lot if you know the area). Zatar bread with cheese or a lamb shawarma sandwich come highly recommended. While their hummus is good, there is some better available nearby. They can also cater parties.

After hearing so many rave reviews from friends about Golden Bakery, I decided to stop and pick up a late lunch to take home. My feelings on the whole experience were mixed, at best. When I walked in, it was hard to tell if they had just opened, were remodeling or what was going on. It was a ghost town, and the lack of internal decor and overhead lighting was odd. I definitely fall on the carry-out side of the coin, rather than the dining-in side due to the lack of pleasing atmosphere. The service wasn't so hot. I waited in line behind the only other customer, a gentleman who was finishing paying for his take-out order. After he walked away, I stepped up to the counter to place my order, and the staff just walked away, chatting with one another as if they didn't see me. About a minute and a half later, the cashier returned and asked if he could help me. I'm not sure if there was a language barrier or just a breakdown in communication, but I had to repeat my order and the fact that it was for carryout 4 different times. In the 5 minutes or so that I stood off to the side waiting for my order, the staff behind the counter that were not involved in getting my food together just stood there and stared at me, unmoving and silent. Seriously, totally uncomfortable. I nodded and smiled at them to be polite, and got no response whatsoever. The food itself was average. I got chicken shawarma wraps (not bad, but not great) and an order of the rice with lentils and onions (which was in all honesty, chewy and rather bland.) The highlight was the baked pita bread which was folded over and stuffed with cheese and spices. That, was actually the one redeeming thing about the whole experience. Final summation: I don't get the hype about this place, but to each their own. Should another shawarma craving hit, I'd definitely take Cedarland or Bucharest Grill over this place. Just my .02!

I first came to this place after a long night out and we enjoyed grape leaves and other small eats. On a more recent trip I had lunch there twice! Their lamb shawarmas are some of the best I've had and their falafel and grape leaves are twice the size of anything i've seen here in FL. They also have this bread that cheese in it that is absolutely delicious. If you are hungry during the day or can't go home hungry after a long night this bakery is for you. It's fairly inexpensive so you get quite a good bang for your buck. I look forward my next trip to Detroit so I can visit this bakery once again.

If you like Middle Eastern breads fresh from a brick oven you can't get any better than Golden's. I love to combine the zatar bread with the cheese bread and dip it into their hummus. They also have these sesame cookies which are great with morning coffee. I haven't tried their shawarma as I always go there for the bread.

they have good dough there and they make great pita bread but they could go a little heavier on the ingredients , more cheese on the pizza and the cheese man2ouche etc ...
