One can argue that West Dearborn really doesn't need another restaurant, given the current density of restaurants compared with shops. But Frida fills a niche, as good Mexican fare is sadly lacking in the area. My spouse and I have been to Frida twice since its opening; on the first visit the hot salsa was not especially hot and the mild salsa extremely mild. On our second visit, the hot salsa was much more satisfying, with good heat and a fair amount of cilantro. The mild salsa remained too mild for our tastes-- certainly not what you'd find in a Detroit taqueria. The salsa set the tone for the overall Frida experience-- though mostly "autentico," there are definitely some nods to the tastes of mainstream Michigan Avenue. The flour tortilla chips that came with the guacamole appetizer strongly resembled Lebanese pita chips, for example, and the guacamole itself didn't have enough heat or cilantro in the mix for our liking (though the avocados used tasted quite good). The entrees are fairly priced and satisfying. We were very pleased with the Mole Poblano, and the Chalupa stacked up nicely against those made by our favorite local taquerias. The Enchiladas Suizas were good, though I could've used a little less cheese and a little more sour cream. The Nopalitos, ordered as breakfast-for-dinner, were missing something in the taste profile, though. The rice and refried beans that come with the entrees are both enjoyable, and the rice in particular had a fluffy texture that I recall fondly from the taco stands of my childhood in California. Frida has an extensive dessert list, though we have not yet tried any-- next time, no doubt. All in all, it's a welcome and overdue addition to the restaurant mix of Westborn, and the quibbles we have with the menu are outweighed by the pleasure of having a stylish, cozy, and affordable place to enjoy Mole Poblano in our hometown. Going there to dine is a much more pleasant experience than navigating the tourist magnets in Mexicantown... and, honestly, some of the big names of Mexicantown will give you a less pleasing meal. I would also recommend Frida over East Dearborn's Fuego and definitely over On the Border and similar chain places. Service was quick and attentive, and the interior really feels warm and attractive. We hope they succeed, and we plan to return.

Fridas has its pros and cons. Pros: Great service, cute location, nice menu. Cons: The food is lacking in quality and taste. It's hard to find good Mexican food in SE Michigan. The salsa that we got literally tasted like tomato paste; no spice and very little taste or texture. My friend ordered a shrimp burrito and it was covered in the same lackluster sauce. It tasted like spaghetti-os. I don't know if Fridas is dumbing down their food for the "gringo" palette or if they don't know how to cook very well. I'd like to see them cook more authentically.

4 stars because of the extremely reasonable prices and great service. Typical Mexican fair probably achieves 3 stars on its own. A great place for a workday lunch!

Went here with two other guys on a Friday for lunch. The food was excellent and the service was pretty fast for a Friday. There burritos had the perfect meat to rice ratio. I will be back here many times.

Went here for lunch the other day. I was pleasantly surprised by the decor. Thank goodness it doesn't look like a truck stop in Tijuana. Clean, linen napkins, a little upscale. Nice. The staff is very friendly and we were promptly served chips and salsa. I'm a fan of their hot variety. Not the kind that smacks you in the face with the hotness at the first bite, kind of sneaks up on you but not too much. I had the chicken flour tacos and my dining mate had the quesadillas. We also got a side a fresh guacamole. Both dishes were served with rice and beans. Plate presentation was very nice, not just slopped on the plate. My tacos were excellent and the guac was nice and fresh. My dining mate has been here on numerous occasions and gave her dish 2 thumbs up. We had coffee and shared the sopapilla. It was tasty, but I'm not really a fan of cooked banana. I would have preferred chocolate in the middle. Pros: Finally a decent Mexican restaurant in Dearborn Clean and nicely decorated Reasonably priced Fresh, thoughtfully prepared food Serves breakfast, lunch and dinner Cons: No liquor license (it is apparently in the works) Stupid paid parking in Dearborn. There are a limited number of free spaces up towards the building, but if those are all taken, you a stuck feeding meters. If you live in Dearborn or the surrounding area, you MUST give this place a try. So much better than the slop that Mexican Fiesta passes off.

With top shelf atmosphere and tasty food, Frida is like a guy who's wearing his most expensive suit & tie in order to impress a girl. However, the girl doesn't need fancy things and just likes him for who he is. The great menu is more than enough to keep me going back, but it doesn't hurt to have a nicely kempt hole-in-the-wall that helps define West Dearborn cuisine.

Came here with the family, who were excited to try halal Mexican food. I of course didn't have to worry about that because I don't eat meat, but it was nice that everyone I was with could order anything they wanted on the menu because it was halal. Its in a hidden type location, and kind of odd looking from the outside, but once you're inside, it has a nice clean vibe. I have to give major props to the waitress because she was the only one working and she was waiting for two big families, and she did a great job.. however after I got the food, it didn't have the same wow factor. I got the Enchiladas roja's (bean & cheese), which came with rice and beans. It didn't taste bad, but it was pretty mediocre. I didn't finish and didn't care to take the rest back for leftovers. The family wasn't impressed either. I like the concept of halal Mexican food, and it could've been an off night, so maybe one day I'll be back to try something else.

Great, authentic Mexican food and terrific service! I accidentally left my credit card at the restaurant, and the helpful staff had it ready for me to pick up when I stopped by later.

This is by far my favorite restaurant in Dearborn. It's quaint, yet classy, and offers a large selection of Mexican favorites. The food is always fresh and delicious. I recommend the Fajitas or Enchilada Rojas. The refried beans come in a crispy tortilla bowl which is my favorite!

Grim! This used to be a good place the first couple years they were open, fresh innovated food. We hadn't gone in awhile... great expectations dashed :( Although there was a strong smell of bleach when we first walked in from the rear entrance, the restaurant was grimy and the suede chair smelled like a young child had an accident. (Not an auspicious beginning). The chips were stale and salsa mediocre. Servers were pleasant, and suggested their house-made Sangria. If there was any wine in it, it was a minuscule amount, no fruit, just the taste of a mix, but I'm sure it was house-stirred to perfection. The chicken quesadilla and side of rice was okay. The beans were a bit puzzling, since it was a very small amount put into a fried tortilla cup. My husband had the shrimp burrito which was good - huge, and he was nice enough to share. In general they had a plastic covered menu with food to match. To sum it up, we don't have to do this again for a while!

Good food, but a little pricey. This is probably the best Mexican in Dearborn, but it could uses a little refinement when it comes to portions and pricing. The service is OK, nothing special, not going out of their way. For such a prime location, I feel they could sooo much better.

Okay so, I'm giving it a one star because there's not a no star option. Unfortunately harsh, but true. My friend and I wanted to try something different other than Mexican Fiesta (which I absolutely love) & On The Border (which is also great). So we walked in, they serve chips and salsa to start. Very little portion, but ok. Then we ordered nachos as an appetizer, & they were still OK. The food was very bland and the meat had like NO flavor. (Total empty calories).. Then we ordered tacos, her soft tortilla & I hard shell & they still tasted VERY bland. I felt like I was eating nothing... it had no flavor. Tried my rice, terrible & the beans that are served in a little tortilla bowl, again TERRIBLE. So bland with zero taste. After the first bite of nachos, I knew I wouldn't return back to this restaurant. The price wasn't too bad though. Our bill was $38 for an appetizer, two meals, & a soft drink. Still not worth it for us. I really don't like to leave bad reviews but I just don't think it's fair for anyone else to waste their time, money or appetite here :(

Still the best Chimichangas I've ever had... which says a lot considering I have lived in Arizona for the past two years now, surrounded by authentic Mexican restaurants. Order the chicken chimis with double beans (skip the rice). You can thank me later. ;) (Only down side - they are usually really busy during lunch, which is when I'd go, so it sucks waiting but it's been worth it 110% of the time.)

I love this little, local Mexican place. I've tried at least half of the items on the menu, and while there isn't too much variation in what you get, it is delicious. The staff are friendly and fast. This is definitely the go-to Mexican restaurant in Dearborn.

Very close to five stars. I'm giving it four stars because of three pretty small things... I'm not too generous with my ratings recently. Frida is excellent. I got the Frida combination and my dad got the chile rellenos -- both of which were awesome. The amount of food you get with the Frida combination is probably a better value, but the chile rellenos were delicious. There are a few minor problems I have with this place. The biggest is that, while I was here (in an empty restaurant at 4pm on a Sunday), I heard some arguing and crying in the kitchen. Luckily, a worker came into the restaurant after about five minutes and basically said "Shut up and get your ass out here." in Spanish. Nice! Another way less minor thing would be the water glasses... they're just too damn small. The food is just about perfect all around. The taco with its freshly fried shell, the flavorful rice, the Chihuahua (?) cheese in the quesadilla... mm. It was all really good and what I expected given the Yelp reviews and pant raising pictures. The last issue I have with Frida would be the burrito. Even though it was good, it was strange. It was like beef stew wrapped in a tortilla. It was tasty but it didn't say "Mexican" to me. Carrots? Celery? Potatoes? Weird. The chips are a little on the thin side, but are lightly salted -- both salsas served are pretty mild, but have pretty good flavor. I don't see myself going back to Frida simply because I'm *NEVER* in Dearborn, but it was one hell of a delicious meal.

2.5 sounds more realistic! Nothing special really below average food! I tried the fajita trio and hubby had the beef wet burrito. Didn't enjoy it one bit, there was no sear on the Fajita, and the burrito was a big blob of beans and meat and nothingness! Had no issues with the service but definitely not worth coming back!

  • Cheryl W.

Homemade Sangria was excellent. Food was so so Guacamole was blah. Tortilla chips blah. Rice blah. Enchiladas rojas ok. Tamales ok. Service ok. Nothing special to report other than sangria.

I've had a few good experiences here & a few bad... Not sure what they did with all of their old waitresses that I liked but their new waitresses are LOUD, rude, & unexperienced. There's a small door that the servers use to get into the back kitchen area and they always SLAM it shut. It's extremely annoying & interruptive. People are trying to have their dinner... Be a little more considerate. The food is good but I definitely won't be back until the servers learn a thing or two.

Such a shame!!!! The food is so good but it's outshined by the horrible customer service. Right when I walked in the hostess didn't even welcome us and all she said was "how many?!?!" like We were an inconvenience to her for walking in. Their portions are so cheap we kept having to ask for more. And also what blew my mind was that we ordered something that we didn't like and they still charged us for it just because she took a bite out of it and thought it tasted horrible. Like how are we supposed to know if it taste bad if she didn't try it. That's the only thing that will keep me from ever going back to this place. They really need to work on the customer service.

  • Scott W.

I was kind of excited to try this place. We found it OK but too much trying to make this upscale and not focused on the true Mexican food. At least in my book. The salsa was the best thing here. Very good salsa. I tried the Chimichangas after seeing what the menu had and knowing that others had recommended it here. There were 3 of these but because there were 3 and not 1 bigger one the filling was lacking. Rice and beans were not that special to me but my partner thoiught they are good and not loaded up with salt like other places do. He had the steak which was a good size but not much more than standard steak. Just a few pieces of green pepper and onion with it. Most places cover this with GP and Onion. Service could have been better as we had to ask for refills of everything. For me I will go get some great Middle Eastern food in Dearborn and take my Mexican craving to Detroit when I get one.

  • Mary A.

Had the chicken chimichanga and my husband had the chicken and steak fajita. Chimichanga was good but the fajita was amazing! Restaurant was very nicely decorated and clean but we didn't have our water refilled until the very end of our meal when we asked for it.

I love authentic Mexican food. I tried most restaurants in Mexican town. I went to this place for lunch today because I was in a hurry. My recommendation - please don't waste your money here. Food is expensive, food lacks quality, quantity and TASTE. I ordered carne asada and got 3 tiny pieces of meat, 2 tiny piece of bell pepper and 1 tiny piece of onion. (With rice and beans). It almost seemed like the bell pepper pieces and onion was overthrown from somebody else's plate. Rice and beans tasted okay. Long story short - not happy and not going there again.

We were staying at the Dearborn inn near by and decided to see what fine Mexican food tasted like in Michigan as compared to Texas. I had the chimichanga which I normally would expect to be one large single serving. They served 3 separate chimichanga which turned out very well. They were light and crisp and seasoned to perfection. My family had the fajita combo of chicken and steak. They thought it was very good. The restaurant was a little hard to find on the first pass. You need to park in the rear or across the street (in the back) in the public parking lot. We didn't see the front entrance on the first time past with the gps telling us we passed it. We took the next turn and went down the back street and while I missed it my wife luckily saw it next to the yogurt place. Just saying -- look close. The meal was well worth the short trip home the hotel. Nice to have a good Mexican food when away from home.

After a long, hard day of racing tiny electric cars my teammates and I wanted Mexican food and found Frida's without much to go on, but we were hungry and it was close. We lucked out! While I was concerned it looked a bit fancy for us (pit crew, dirty and sweaty) it was comfortable place with good food, good prices, and good service. They accommodated our group of seven very well, and I wouldn't hesitate to visit again when I'm in the area.

My family and I arrived at Frida close to opening time and we were the only ones in the restaurant, so I was kind of weary that things wouldn't be ready, but thankfully that was not our experience. I ordered the chicken chimichangas, my husband ordered the beef chimichangas, and we ordered the kids' chicken fingers for our son. Our food was served more quickly than expected and was also fresh and flavorful. My husband and I loved our chimichangas, and you could tell that the chicken fingers were made fresh (as opposed to the frozen, heavily-breaded chicken fingers that a lot of restaurants buy in bulk from restaurant suppliers). I wish I could have tried their chicken tortilla soup, but I was so full! I will try it next time because Frida is definitely a do-again!

Really great little mom & pop Mexican restaurant in downtown Dearborn. Off street parking in the back. Decor is warm and inviting. Service is authentic, knowledgeable and friendly. Los Banos are exceptionally clean. But what about the food? Frida has very good Mexican fare. The menu is standard - but all home made - with tacos, burritos, and all the stuff you're familiar with, all prepared with care. Guacamole is made fresh and although mild, it is delicioso! Ask for them to add some heat. Salsas are freshly made - they bring two types to the table - and I love the smoky, darker one. The traditional rojo is good, too. Enjoy!

I was expecting a nice authentic Mexican restaurant. That is not what I got. The place is very small. There were only 2 other tables occupied and there were 2 servers. The servers were not very organized, nor were they Mexican. The salsa was not very good. I got the enchiladas which were actually pretty good. But I have no plans to go back.

A breath of fresh air during my business trip in Dearborn. Fresh rose on the table, polite server, and $.99 cup of soup with my meal! The food was delicious and spot on. I will be happy to come again very soon.

Ok so we have had some very good Mexican food in the past... This restaurant was not one of them. Please spare yourself and try another place. Me and my tried just to try out a new place, she order one of there combo and I ordered the fajitas. Very mediocre food. Plus a average service. Not worth the price. Not going there again. Try out Fuego Mexican grill in Dearborn.

I had a sudden craving for Mexican food and I wanted to try something new. I decided to go to Frida based on a Yelp review posted by someone I know who also lives in the area. It was definitely the right choice! Food I had the beef flautas with beans and rice. The beef was seasoned perfectly and the flautas were deep fried perfectly. Just the right amount of toppings were added to make it absolutely delicious! My husband had the corn tacos with beef which are also quite yummy! The rice was cooked perfectly. I always have such a hard time with rice, either overcooking or undercooking and I can never tell when it's just right, but this was absolute perfection. Even the refried beans were spectacular! I know that sounds strange because they're just beans, but these were like no other i've ever tasted. Service I ordered carry out over the phone. The woman taking my order was very pleasant and professional. She gave me my total and the time my order would be ready. When I arrived I was promptly greeted and asked if I was there to pick up a carry out. The waitress was very friendly and I noticed the uniforms were very professional. I passed by the cooks on the way to get my food and they were dressed in professional chef's jackets. The restaurant seemed very classy and clean. The decor was nice and each table had a small vase with a fresh rose in it. The place was very clean. It was a little small, which made it a bit loud, but nothing unbearable. I will definitely try dining in next time because i'm anxious to try the flaming ice cream. Overall a great experience and probably my new favorite Mexican restaurant in the area.

Today I found a real gem in the city of Dearborn Frida is tucked away on Michigan Avenue in a block dominated by The Post Bar. When you enter the restaurant you notice that it's simple yet lots of care has been put into the décor. Chips and salsa where immediately brought to my table. The chips were warm and salty. The mild salsa was loaded with cilantro and flavors the hot salsa being spiced up with jalapeno. Next up was a small cup of mole poblano soup. This is a thick, spicy, and chocolaty soup that is covered with small tortillas. It doesn't drip off your spoon; it goes down in rich chunks. My main course was Napalitos: Scrambled eggs with cactus, peppers and onions. I've had this before at other establishment and they didn't even come close to Frida's Napalitos. Here, instead if eggs with a small amount of cactus, it was more like an entire sweet cactus with a small amount of egg to bind it together. Smashed together on a warm corn tortilla brought attained gastronomical goodness I could only dream of. Add some Mexican rice and refried beans to the plate and you've reached Mexican food nirvana. I can't say enough about Frida. The food soars, the service was excellent, and the restaurant is designed beautifully.

Frida is a welcome, authentic change to the usual Mexican fare around here. The salsa and chips are a great way to start any visit...I especially love the hotter salsa, which also has flavor. The wet burrito is one heck of a meal...large and very tasty. On the sweet side, I recommend the Mexican hot chocolate and the bananas/ice cream dessert. Yum! The service is good, the prices are fair, and I love their breakfasts, too.

Met my girlfriends here for lunch on a Saturday & I had a very tasty margarita that I forgot the name of but it had Grand Marnier in it. I had the chicken hard tacos with rice for my meal & it was good but the chicken was on the bland side & the rice was kind of dry. I wasn't a big fan of their salsa as it had too much cilantro in it so I couldn't just pour it over my rice like I normally would at a Mexican restaurant. I don't like refried beans so I didn't get any but the other ladies said they were really good...a couple of them said parts of their meal were on the bland side. They do have breakfast foods as well which is great & you can get them anytime so 1/2 of us had breakfast & the other 1/2 had lunch which was convenient. I'd come again but wouldn't get the chicken tacos again & might smuggle my own salsa in my purse!

Real roses on the table and a very Americanized feel in atmosphere, but don't let it fool you! The flavors are high quality Mexican dishes. I enjoyed the chile rellenos and a glass of Sangria. I felt as though my own abuela had made them. The batter is amazing and the price is perfect. Portions will fill you up and some. My only complaint is that the salsa could be spicier, but the delicious flavor really won me over on it. I wish I lived in Michigan so I could come here again, but my business trip is over. A shame to discover this place on my last day.

Mexican food review from Mexicans: I'm going to make this short and sweet. We come from south Texas so we know what Mexican food is supposed to taste like. Being in Dearborn we were craving good Mexican food. This wasn't it. First off, where we come from you can barely call yourself a Mexican restaurant without homemade tortillas. That's always the first question I ask. The answer was no, but the kids were hungry so we gave the rest of it a chance. It wasn't awful food but it wasn't worth the stop either.

Depends what you order. Fajitas NO. Enchiladas sometimes. One of their red sauces is bitter. The food is good over all, but there's a server that messed up my order on 2 different occasions. She also served 2 different tables that came after us before she served us. We practically waited 20 min for water and she was rude. Third time we went, we just walked out. she forgot about us.

Great food, great service, good prices, nice decor and interesting menu options! What more could you want? I've been here many times and never been dissapointed in any aspect of my meal. Relax yelpers, and enjoy your meal. Don't lament the silly issues like how upscale they are. They ain't, and it's ok!

Not worth the price for what you get. Food is average at best. Service is painfully slow, esp. for Mexican?!?

It was good, and I'd go back again but I won't be writing any adoring poems about their food. Nothing at all bad about it, and it will definitely do for your Mexican food fix. The food was just a bit bland for my taste, seems they are trying to cater for a white mid-western clientele.

Dated interior, chips were thicker than I liked. 2 salsas were served and both were very good. I had the carne asada burrito. It was filled with mostly rice and a small dollop of guacamole and a couple if smaller dollops of sour cream on top. There was very little meat in the burrito. I had to dig for it. The value was ok but I don't see a 4 or 5 star rating at all. Service was very good. I give it 2 stars. After this review was posted, I was contacted by someone who said I couldn't have been there based upon my comment about the decor. I was there and was actually generous on my 2 star rating. I'm thinking that these 4 and 5 star reviews were planted by the establishment and not actual customers. I won't return. When I pay $10 or more I expect to find meat in a burrito, not a huge quantity of rice with a very small quantity of meat scattered in it.

By far the best in the area. The menu is creative and very authentic. Yolanda and her staff have always been beyond friendly and attentive to all their customers. Great experience and great food and service, we'll always be regulars at Frida!

I've enjoyed Mexican Cuisine all over North America, Frida's is uniquely different and I mean that in a very good way. The food always taste freshly made. The flavors of the dishes excite every taste bud on your tongue. There are no Resturant tasting foods served here. Each dish, time after time, taste like a homemade serving prepared by grand mom. Try Frida's for Dinner and Breakfast. You won't be disappointed. Try the Flan for desert. Wow!!!

Had lunch at Frida after going to the Henry Ford. We were looking to try something new - glad we did! The chips and salsa were quite nice. The hot was very tasty and actually had some heat. The tacos al carbon was good ... the meat could have used a little but more flavor but with the pico and salsa I made up for that. The rice was bland so I skipped it but the refried beans were delicious (I'm not usually a fan). The wait staff were friendly and prompt. The space is very nice, clean and modern. Overall we were pleased and we will be back on a future visit to Dearborn. Solid 3.5 stars!

All my meals here have been great. The service is excellent and the place is always clean and quiet. The chile relleno is really good. I had some other seafood dish that was fantastic. Best Mexican food in Dearborn in my opinion. Definitely will be back

It wasn't bad, but it didn't knock my socks off like some of the reviews would suggest. I had the Diego combo and my boyfriend got the Frida Combo. Beans & rice lacked flavor. But the food was pretty good. Service was great. I'll go back and try for a traditional meal and see how the food is.

Frida is the type of restaurant that I like to see succeed. It delivers good, flavorful Mexican cuisine at reasonable prices and the staff is friendly and industrious. The restaurant is narrow but it somehow manages to seat larger parties, albeit cozily. I've been there for lunch several times now, enjoying one of several meals off their reasonably-priced lunch menu. This time around, we were both extra hungry so despite the excellent bowl of chips with both mild and hot salsa that we inhaled, we still went with the large dinner-sized portions for lunch: 3 enchiladas - beef, chicken, and cheese in a delicious suiza sauce. The dish is served with several sides but I was more interested in the main attraction on the plate. As always, the entrée was delicious; I would be hard-pressed to identify a favorite among the three. We debated dessert but given the time opted for something quick next door. Note: parking is available behind the restaurant. For convenience, you can also access the restaurant from the back (near parking).

I was pleasantly surprised by Frida. Most Mexican places I've eaten at all taste the same, but this place was a step above. Ingredients were fresh and varied enough to give the menu some diversity. The atmosphere is cozy and the server was polite and efficient. I've been back several times.

I'll admit: I'm a Mexican food snob. I walk into a place and immediately scan the menu for a few select items I need to call a place "authentic," having grown up in a predominately Hispanic neighborhood and having been on several long trips, both recreational and business, to Mexico. Does Frida have these items? Yes. Do they taste authentic? Not really. Are they delicious, and do I respect their chef for a bold new take on Mexican food in Dearborn? Absolutely. Try this place for its uniqueness, enjoy its flavors like a good Frida Kahlo painting, and you'll find yourself oddly hooked. The artist herself would be proud.

Frida is TOP NOTCH! I read through some of the other reviews that didn't find Frida to be their cup of tea. That's totally fine. If you enjoy "Mexican" food thats fried and smothered in so much fake cheese that you can't taste anything but greasy cheese and tortilla then please go to any of the other places to meet your greasy tasteless requirement. I come to Frida because it's fresh, it's presented nicely, and you can actually taste the food! The beans taste like beans! The cheese tastes like cheese! The rice tastes like rice! The staff is always very friendly and happy to see me when I visit. They know me by name and take the initiative to remember my name. They also try out different things once and a while and have specials which are always rotating. Try to see when they are serving cactus soup because it's the best! They are by far the best Mexican place in Dearborn and they also serve Halal meats so that our Muslim friends can enjoy the awesomeness of Frida.

loved the mild salsa, liked the rice. beans had a funky, maybe beefy, taste. not great for a vegetarian. cheese enchiladas with rojo/red sauce had a bitter taste i had never come across; barely OK. hubby loved his chile rellenos; they had a eggy, crepe batter coating, not the usual cornmealish/pancakeish batter. i thought they were just ok. tables were covered with cloth tablecloth and napkins. we were seated in the tight, with no extra space, aisle which was distracting as the two waitresses kept running back and forth every 3 minutes. service is slow with only those 2 girls for a lunch crowd. took at least 10 minutes to get drinks. had to ask for seconds on the small bowl of chips. no lunch entree less than $5.79, most more; serving sizes on the small side. doubt i would return.

Ok, they didn't have black beans. I love me a black bean burrito when I'm craving Mexican. So I got the shrimp burrito, that thing was huge. I never knew there were tortillas that big. It was filled with Mexican rice which I didn't care for and small shrimp with veggies. Even though I wasn't crazy about the entree I had, the fried banana dessert made up for it.

Great service and all the items here taste very fresh. We love the chips and salsa that come complimentary with every meal. The menu is eclectic and is more adventurous than your average Michigan Mexican restaurant. Worth a visit if you're driving down Michigan Avenue!

Frida has a huge menu! They serve breakfast, lunch, dinner and desserts. I love their cocktail menu, they pretty much have everything you can think of, especially in the tequila section. Great service, excellent value, and a very clean environment. I would definitely recommend Frida Mexican Cuisine to those have not tried it yet. I love their ceviche! It's amazing! Don't forget to try one of their amazing smoothies as well.

We've been to Frida twice since it opened and while it's still a bit sad to sit at the same table we did when the space was occupied by Annam , we've enjoyed both our meals there very much. Frida's recipe (pardon the pun) for success is simple; Authentic Mexican food and ridiculously affordable prices! We split the Chicken Fajitas for Two and ended-up taking enough home for two more Fajitas for lunch the next day! Frida is a great restaurant with a non-pretentious casual atmosphere. We'll be visiting it often.

I was so excited when I learned that there is a Mexican restaurant that opened up so near to my house. Hooray! I just tried it a while back and I can say they have good stuff. It was rather quiet when I went during the afternoon with a friend. We both got our meals rather quickly, rightfully so as like I said it wasn't that busy. The waitresses tended to chat among themselves since it was so quiet, but never once did they leave us hanging and gave us good service. Is your traditional Mexican-American restaurant. I believe that everybody that works there is fluent in Spanish and cooking some good grub. It's has a really nice location and I really like the inside of the place it was rather kind of like a chill spot. My only complaint was that there was a homeless dude that came in from the street and was trying to sell paper roses to customers. He seemed rather pissed off when I politely told him that I didn't have the cash on me. I have no problem dining with anybody as long as they are not trying to sell me stuff while I'm eating...unless its more food, drink, or magic beans that can make me continue eating without gaining weight cause like I said this place does have some good food! They do deliver, but I believe that the minimum that has to be charged is $30. Please be aware that since this is downtown Dearborn, you do have to feed the meter. There is an app that there now offering for your phone where you can pay with your debit card called Parkmobile. Just a little side tip.

Frida is a great little restaurant for a nice romantic dinner. It's a narrow joint with tables that are a little too close, but the times I've been that hasn't been a problem because it's not busy. Their food is good, although I did get dry rice on my last trip. I'm pretty sure the only thing we've ordered have been chicken enchiladas, which were excellent. A little spicy but not too much. They serve free chips and homemade chunky salsa (it can be a little heavy on the cilantro, so beware!) Jake loves their soup, which was only .99 for a bowl the last two times we went. If you like having a nice glass of Pepsi with your meal, Frida is not for you... they use "gun" soda, which is much less bubbly and quite honestly tastes flat to me. I just order water instead. Their prices run about $7-10 per plate. They do not currently serve alcohol, so no margaritas with dinner! Frida does have desserts and I was sly enough to con Jacob into trying one. We ordered the chimi bananas, which was amazing... deep-fried bananas with ice cream and strawberry sauce. Very sweet and decadent. I'm sure their other desserts are great as well. Frida would be a great place for a first date. They have a cozy, romantic atmosphere, friendly waitstaff, good food and no big rush.

Went here ta few weeks ago when we were craving Mexican food. It's very small inside but we were the only ones in there throughout most of our meal, it was an hour before closing on a Wednesday night, so it wasn't bad. If it were busier, it would of been fairly cramped. It was very nice inside, nice decor and ambiance. Chips and salsa were good and they had very good sweetened ice tea. I ordered the carne asada burrito that was HUGE. I could not finish it. It could of used more flavor. It was good, but not amazing. The boyfriend ordered mole poblano and he seemed pleased with his dish. The waitstaff was good and attentive, but again, we were the only ones in there sooooo...duh. ha They did take forever to come pickup the check though. We just kept sitting there wondering if we were supposed to take it up to them or what...but finally, after around 15 minutes, the waiter came and got it. Not a big deal. It was a pretty good place, I want to go back for sure and try some other other menu items and hopefully save room for a chimi banana!

Finally, a Mexican restaurant returns to this busy strip of Michigan Ave in West Dearborn. Frida occupies the former spot of Annam. The new proprietor has done a really nice job with the interior, simple, stylish, and elegant. The food is quite good and generous in portion. It's traditional Mexican food made with fresh ingredients, with strong and well balance flavours. Not quite Mexican-Town-taco-truck-authentic, but far superior than some of the "gringo"/touristy restaurants in Mexican Town or any of the chain restaurants. A nice combination of good food and beautiful environ. Excellent service!

Very nice place. Mexican restaurant with an upscale feel and presence. Classic dishes. Very friendly staff. Small, but doesn't feel crowded. I loved the background music they were playing. Dishes were served like I happen to like them, not soggy, with a nice presentation. No complaints on taste. Would recommend.

Have been here for lunch about a half dozen times and highly recommend it. Value: Outstanding lunch specials, most of which are under $7 and come with rice and beans Food: Very fresh! Chips and salsa are delicious and promptly served. My favorites are the chicken chimichangas and fish tacos. If they have the chicken mole soup, order it! Service: Friendly enough but orders have a tendency to come out in spurts if there are more than a couple people in your party Atmosphere: Clean, relaxing, nice background music. Green points for the hand towels in the bathroom. Somewhat small so can be busy at times but the table turnover is fast.

Wow! I was not prepared for how good this place is! I will definitely be going back. Let's start at the beginning: a genuinely warm greeting. Fast, friendly service. Warm, lightly salted chips were served immediately, and they were refilled twice without asking -- along with some of the most fantastic, fresh salsa I've ever had. To start, we ordered the mole poblano and chicken-something soups, and they were both really, really good. I got the Frida sampler entre, and everything was simply wonderful. It was a lot of food, and it looked like too much for one person, but it was all so good I ate 3/4 of it. The beef had good flavor, the chicken was excellent, the lettuce was fresh, the cheese quesadilla used really good cheese, the chimichanga was cooked to perfection (not too fried), and everything had just the right temperature. I was very impressed. The beans tasted homemade -- awesome! My son had the beef flour tacos, and they were delicious. My little one had chicken tenders, and while it's obvious they weren't run-of-the-mill restaurant chicken tenders -- they appeared to be done in-house -- we weren't crazy about the breading, but the chicken itself did not appear processed, it looked like the real deal. And the fries appeared to be fresh-cut potato fries. The decor is small and cozy, and actually looks quite nice. Some of the chairs are mismatched. But wow was the single restroom decorated nicely. Hand towels, soap in fancy pumps, lotions, etc. The only complaint I can come up with for the entire evening is that the lid for the porcelain throne wouldn't stay up, and the whole unit was wobbly. They should pay a plumber to set it in correctly. Okay, that ended on perhaps not so good of a note, but I hope that very small ding doesn't distract from the overall excellent experience we had at Frida Mexican Cuisine. It really was super good!

Frida know's how to do a wet ground beef burrito, so huge and tasty, it was the bomb!!! Anyone who really needs a big meal, this is what you need to order. Got the salsa hot and it actually was hot this time, big improvement, but still just as tasty. No booze, but you can walk next door for a drink before and after.

The Mexican bread pudding is AMAZING. It's like bread pudding, with a little bit of whipped cream, and with melted cheese on top. At first I thought the cheese was a strange touch, but the saltiness of it really added to the dish. I would go back just for this! The rest of the food was solidly good (the beans and rice were especially good), and the service was nice and friendly. Overall, I would say this is a good restaurant with the best bread pudding I've ever had.

I've gone to Frida twice so far and haven't been disappointed. Since I didn't grow up in an area with a lot of Mexican restaurants, it's hard for me to judge authenticity. However, I can judge on flavor. The chicken enchilada soup is great, the horchata is really good (not quite Mi Pueblo good, but it's up there), and the food is flavorful. I had the Capitalinas. It's essentially beef stew wrapped in a tortilla. I've never had it before and I love it. It's going to take a lot of convincing to get me to switch to a different menu item next time. As far as location, it kind of sucks that you have to know to drive around the back of the building to park in a metered lot. (It seems to be a common theme in the west Dearborn area). The decor is well put together, simple, neat, and classy. As of couple of weeks ago, our server told us they now deliver. Not sure on the radius, but I may have to find out soon.

Its not going to kill you but this is not good food, nor a good Mexican restaurant. Even the basics are lacking. Chips must have come out a bag, salsa was lacking any kick and added little flavor. The food was weak. Example: the Botana appeared to be some chips w/cheese perhaps microwaved, some beans and meat that was barley warm and raw onions and peppers on the top, it was never in an oven in my opinion. Other dishes were no better, Cancun chicken was overwhelmed by a disgustingly sweet salsa, Salmon covered in a tasteless green mush. To put the final thumbs down on this place, the Margaretta's were weak , small and just not good. I can't explain the 4 an 5 star ratings they don't sound like the same place. Nice people, good service , bad restaurant.

This is our favorite Mexican restaurant in Dearborn and the surrounding area. The food isn't just slopped on your plate like most run of the mill Mexican restaurants. They artfully craft your dish and it's presented perfectly! They make their own salsas (we mix the hot and mild together) and I swear I could drink it. The space is small but nice inside and they always have fresh cut flowers on the tables. I swear by the carne asada burrito. It's enough for two people. If you still have room - get the flaming ice cream. They actually light it on fire!

This place was delish! I checked out the menu online before going and knew that the prices were very reasonable so I was quite surprised when I walked in because it looked far more upscale and I was worried the prices would be higher than I anticipated. I was wrong, the prices were great and the portions were as well! I ordered the shrimp burrito, at the waitresses suggestion, and it was great! When the plate came out I gasped because it was sooooooooo big! lol It was fresh and well seasoned. I was able to get 3 total meals out of it. I will definitely go back. Its a refreshing change from Mexican Fiesta which I love but is very heavy.

Frida is my favorite new restaurant that opened up in 2011, so much that I had my last dinner of the year there on New Year's Eve. The set-up is cozy and cute, reminiscent of the laid-back cafe atmosphere of Pete's Place in Ferndale. I live about 25 minutes from Frida, which is located on Michigan Ave in Downtown Dearborn. Sure, there are other Mexican restaurants located in closer proximity to my front door, but Frida is worth the drive and here is why... Passion: The owner, Ricardo, exudes an enormous heart for traditional Mexican cuisine and providing a modern dining experience. It seems that he's attempting to usher in the next generation of Mexican dining while also maintaining the old-school soul. Authenticity: When my significant other and I were the only diners left in the restaurant late on New Year's Eve, we had the pleasure of eating with Ricardo and he shared some great insight into his background and the restaurant. In a nutshell, Ricardo is from Mexico, has significant experience in the restaurant and hospitality industry in Mexico and in the States. Frida is a small kitchen and everything is made in-house. His mom makes the tamales at home. The tamales I ordered at Frida were moist, so the salsa and guacamole were perfect compliments, not necessities to supplement dryness (they are as good as tamales I've had in Mexico and California). Execution: The plating at Frida is immaculate and divine, which I've often noticed goes neglected at other Mexican bistros I've dined at. The ceviche appetizer is flawlessly refreshing. Frida takes Mainstream Mexican fare such as fajitas and quesadillas and puts to shame the Taco Bells of the American landscape. Also, the decor is very intimate and this places feels much more upscale than your bill would lead you to believe. Peculiarity: Located in the Arabic enclave of Dearborn, Frida is Halal certified, which is quite unique and leads to some inevitable experimentation in Mexican cuisine. This also translates to it being a B.Y.O.B., and Merchant's Fine Wine is located directly across the street.. pick up a great bottle of vino beforehand! Some say the interpretations of the Mayans meaning of 2012 is about bringing a change in the mind-set of the world, not an end to the world. Frida is changing what a Mexican bistro can be.. embrace it!

Frida Mexican Cuisine is a great addition to Downtown Dearborn. The restaurant is named after Frida Kahlo, and a few of her replicated paintings hang on the wall. The little bistro takes mexican cuisine to a whole new level. Upon seating you are immediately served with hot chips and salsa, with a mild and hot version. They have a great combo section if you can't decide on what to get. I had the Frida combo which consisted of one beef burrito (moist chunks of beef), one flour chicken taco, one cheese quesadilla, and one chicken chimichanga. The chimichanga was topped with the usual fixings of lettuce, tomato, sour cream and guac. It also comes with a side of beans and rice. The portions are HUGE. My companion had the Diego combo which comes with an enchilada which was delicious. For dessert I had the Chimi Banana which is a chimichanga stuffed with banana and deep-fried, served with vanilla ice cream, caramel and seasonal fruit. Overall, it was the attention to detail and service that gave Frida a five star. Not only did the owner of this establishment come out and greet us but even the dessert spoons came out with a mini dessert on them. I finally found my mexican staple in Downtown Dearborn.

On the surface, Frida's isn't much different from the xeroxes of white-bred Mexican restaurants you find spread across American suburbs. You'll find the same flavorless rice and overdone refried beans that you'll find all over America. The salsa is decent, but the tacos and enchilladas, unfortunately, are not. There is one thing I will add to Frida's that does make it unique. If you're going there for lunch, the portion sizes are rather small. I'm going to chalk this up as an unlikely benefit. Because the one side effect of a heavy Mexican meal is that you feel bloated and unproductive afterwards, which is a real bad thing if you're headed back to work. Frida's lunch portions are the most perfectly sized I've seen. You can finish your plate and not feel slowed down. Yes, I realize this compliment would only seem more backhanded if it were delivered by Andre Agassi, but if you work in Dearborn and want Mexican food for lunch it is Frida's redeeming quality. And the reason I've been back for subpar Mexican food.

Frida Mexican Cuisine is an excellent choice in West Dearborn. Jules had the Steak Ranchero. Walter enjoyed the Salmon Veracruzano. Jules and Walter shared a dessert, Arroz con Leche - Grandma's traditional homemade rise pudding, served with whipped cream, cinnamon and raspberry. Walter wonders if any customers have to slap their grandmother after dinning at Frida.

I really enjoyed my lunch at Frida's. It was a Friday at noon, so I expected any place around this area to be busy. Almost every table in this quaint (read:small) space was occupied, which was an encouraging sign. I don't believe the chips are house-made, nor were they warm, but that isn't a deal-breaker for me. The menu was surprisingly varied for such a small kitchen. I ordered the lunch portion chimichangas, one beef and one cheese. They arrived hot and crispy with a small side of rice and beans. What impressed me, besides the taste, was the cheese inside the chimi. I expected the typical yellow-y cheese filler, but was pleasantly surprised by melty, oozy white cheese. (I wish I could be more specific as to what kind of cheese, but I didn't ask, I just ate) The staff was very friendly, fast, and efficient. Water, chips, and salsa were replenished often without us having to ask. Just a few notes for those of us that are used to that "other Mexican place" in Dearborn: there is no cole slaw on the menu, the kids menu only has two items-chicken wings and chicken tenders, and the portions are a little smaller than you may be used to. Frida's is definitely a welcome addition to Dearborn, and I look forward to trying more of the great food!

Mexican isn't necessarily my favorite type of food but I certainly get a craving from time to time. While in town for business, some colleagues and I were looking for a place that was open for a later dinner and stumbled upon Frida. I believe it is fairly new. The restaurant itself is small but clean and nicely decorated. The staff is very friendly....and talkative...at times, a little too talkative. You get the standard chips and 2 salsas, hot and mild. I am a sucker for spicy food - the mild is far too mild for my taste and the hot is not spicy enough for me. The hot does have very good flavor though. At our table we ordered the California burrito which was HUGE (literally can feed 3 people), the combination fajitas with chicken and steak, fish tacos and a chicken dish. The food was decent all the way around but nothing overly different and exciting. Home made Horchata was delicious though. Definitely good quality, value and service - you also get a lot for the price....and it beats a greasy hole in the wall. If you are looking for Mexican food in the Detroit area I would still recommend it, but just don't expect anything too life changing.

I had wanted to stop and check this place out for some time now. I am glad that I did. I stopped in for a quick lunch and was very satisfied. It is small, and quaint, but modern, and very nice inside. Staff was very prompt and super friendly. They seemed genuinely concerned about your experience. A big upside was that there are free parking spots for the restaurant in back, with a back entrance for easy access. I will definitely be back. A hidden gem for sure!!

It's been difficult to locate good Mexican in Michigan (after living in the Southwest I'm going to unfairly complain about it here in the midwest). But Frida ('s?) is great. Excellent service, friendly staff, delicious food, and a nice setting inside.

Very mediocre at best. I had the fish tacos which comes with citrus potatoes and spanish rice. The fish was cooked perfectly-flaky, not seasoned but I actually prefer my fish unseasoned. They were out of the mango sauce it usually comes with. I stuck some salsa and guac on them and they weren't bad at all. The potatoes were cubed and pan fried. No sauce, no seasoning, nothing citrus-y at all. Just potatoes. Creepy diner hashbrown quality. The spanish rice was bland and hard. I also got the guacamole. Sad excuse for guac. I would be shocked if they actually made any of their food in the back from scratch. Rice had to be from a box, potatoes had to be frozen, guac had to be store bought. And to top it off, all of that was about $15. If you want mexican, you're already so close to mexicantown, just go there. Better food, better prices. I'm really not sure how this place has such a high rating.

After reading the raving reviews of this establishment, my husband and I decided it would be a great new try. As a precursor to this review, I should tell you that I am extremely easy going eater, very very rarely will I walk out of a restaurant without at least one good thing to say about it. Unlike my siblings, I will eat just about anything, as long as it doesn't have meat. This restaurant however did not do justice to the reviews or my taste buds for that matter. First of all, their dishes are a bit pricy for the quality of the food, an entree runs you about $10 as does an appetizer order of guacamole (they should have called it holy moly money, in my opinion). Second of all, their service was mediocre. As soon as we walked in we were seated and given menus, but within 3 minutes we felt as if we kept getting hounded and pressured into quickly deciding and ordering. Made me feel like I was at a fast food restaurant! Now for the food. My husband ordered a bean and cheese chimichanga and I ordered a quesadilla. My husband (who is also not a picky eater) said that the chimichanga wasn't horrible but it also lacked any flavor. Also, though he asked for a bean and cheese chimi, it was filled only with beans (he even dug around for the cheese). The cheese in the quesadilla was good, but was minimal. It came with a side of beans, rice and guac all of which were quite flavorless as well. Maybe I've just become really spoiled after becoming a regular at Senor Lopez in Detroit, but man this place was really disappointing. If you want quality mexican, go to Senor Lopez, not this place. And there you will really get your money's worth. Simply put, as much as I really wanted to like this place, it just didn't live up to the hype...at all. p.s. I feel like I should be at least a little positive, so I will say that their decor was nice. Thats why it got 2 stars instead of 1! :)

There are things I really like, and there are a few things that annoy me. I love the Habanero sauce they make, you have to ask for it......very tasty. Their salsas are very good for putting on your dinner, not sure they are good for dipping chips in and watching football (no they don't have TV's in there, just making a point to those who always expect they should be eating chips and salsa before dinner)...they do bring the chips though...Wait staff is good and friendly, ready to serve, worth tipping appropriately... Food is very consistent, presented well, and has a bit more flavor than your typical "Southwest Detroit Mexican" fare. It was appropriate for them to separate the "Traditional" from the "Popular" mexican dishes on the menu. It's time for Detroiters to start thinking outside the box a little. The food is priced likely as it should be....the restroom has actual towels instead of paper towel, another experience relaxer......clean resturant....So, the things I don't like......there are two types of chairs in the restaurant...hard uncomfortable wicker chairs...and soft comfy brown fabric chairs....I would rather sit on hard wooden benches then hard wicker chairs. Parking...OH GOD PARKING....Frida basically has no parking of their own...there are hardly any spots behind the restaurant to park in for free (always full) and the pay parking lot has a bunch of those call a phone number to pay for your parking spot things...I often drive by Frida for dinner and pass it because there are no spots open behind the restaurant, I refuse to do that complicated pay over the phone for parking lot stuff. I'll go down the street or across town to another restaurant where I don't have to pay for parking....which is disappointing when I'm hungry and want to have some of Frida habanero sauce on something....I love the sauce, but not enough to go along with Dearborn's stupid parking lot. I like this restaurant, it has lots of potential (besides the parking issue). Biggest word of advice....lose the wicker chairs, they make my butt hurt....I don't like eating good food while my butt hurts....or have some cushions made for the chairs, do something....also, get rid of the dessert refrigerator at the entrance, you don't need it. Just get rid of it...ebay it or put it on craigslist. This is a great lunch spot, and the luck in getting a free parking spot is about 50/50. If the city went back to pay on the spot parking, I would park there....but the pay for parking they have there now is stupid (not the restaurant's fault)... If you haven't been to Frida and you like Mexican, you should go, try to go before lunch or dinner crowd, your more likely to get a free parking spot. I hope Frida stays there for a long time....and I hope the parking situation improves...otherwise, I would visit the new Frida if they move into a new spot...

Went here the other night for dinner. The first "Yay" was the private parking out back. Small lot but if you get there around 5, there should be no problem. Better than paying for parking which is what dinner in Dearborn will cost you. The chips and salsa WERE delivered right away but as to the flavor, it's OK. Everything is relative and I like Mexican Villlage chips and salsa better. But the food at Frida's was really good to me. I got the Frida combination and really enjoyed it. Will go again. The place is small, thought, so once again I suggest getting there early.

I tried Frida's the other night for the first time, sadly, I just didn't think it was that great. My favorite part of the whole meal was the hot salsa, which was unique and flavorful. The chips however, were a huge disappointment. They seemed to have been nuked and sprinkled with table salt. If Frida's is supposed to be gourmet Mexican food, then I expect everything to be fresh, cooked on premises, not nuked bulk food from Gortons Food Service. The refried beans tasted like canned refried beans, and were either nuked on the plate or had sat under the heat lamps for too long. The rice was bland. The worst part? The weird 'citric' (sic) marinade on the chicken fajitas. The flavor was more reminiscent of a yellow curry (which I love, but not with the flavor profile of Mexican food), only with a very strange flavor and after taste. Why not just grill chunks of fresh chicken with some great fresh veggies from Eastern Market? Whatever that yellow marinade may be, it was wholly unappealing, and really clashed with the rest of the flavors. We had the chimi banana also, meh...that was okay, a nice caramel sauce at least, but the banana was lost in the chimi wrapper. I'll give Frida's another try, I just hope they get their chips situation ironed out...bad chips in a Mexican place? Sheesh. If Frida's wants to be known as Gourmet Mexican, they're going to have to start with the chips and work their way through the menu. I'd rather see a smaller menu with fresh ingredients and excellent execution. Please, nix that yellow marinade on the chicken...it doesn't add anything to the chicken.

Everything's Halal! Staff gets 5 stars. This is a family owned and run place- cook was at El Rancho in South West Detroit for 11 yrs. The waitress was super friendly and helpful in making recommendations. Food gets 4 stars simply because I didn't like the shrimp at all! My sister odered shrimp dish- fajitas? it was chewy and not well flavored. I shared the mixed chicken and beef Fajita- comes out on a sizzling skillet. It also comes w/sides lettuce, tomato, sour cream, guacamole, refried beans, and tortillas (choice of flour or corn- i like flour). This was very good, i liked the chicken and my brother liked the beef (not surprising since I'm just not crazy about beef). The Cancun Chicken was also ordered and got not complaints. For desert we shared the fried banana w/side of vanilla ice cream it was good nothing too exciting though. The decor is simple but modern and easy on the eyes, music was perfect. The place looks very clean and you can sort of see into the kitchen. I'll be going back for sure!

This is not your typical tacos, enchiladas Mexican joint. Every three months they do specials from a region of Mexico. My pollo positono tonight was delicious with superb spicing. The salsa was great and sometimes they have fruit salsa. The pricing was moderate and the atmosphere good. Finally a Mexican restaurant that I can enjoy

Wonderful FRESH food! they do take away and the only reason I'm not giving them 5 stars is they don't have their liquor license yet. when they get it, I'm never leaving!

Decent food, great ambiance. I didn't like the fact that they dont serve alcohol and dont allow you to BYOB. The bread pudding is real good ... very rich.

About TGI Friday

TGI Friday is a casual dining American restaurant chain founded in 1965. The term “TGI” is an acronym for Thank God It's and together the name of the restaurant is often announced as Thank God It's Friday. Over the years of its existence, the TV commercials and other advertisement streams have also twisted the phrase a bit and used it as Thank Goodness It's Friday. The restaurant serves alcoholic beverages primarily. However, they are also known for their low-carbohydrate and low-fat menu items to promote a healthy lifestyle. TGI Friday also offers gluten-free items on its menu for those with gluten intolerance.

Besides the cool name, TGI Friday also has an interesting background story of its origin. The founder of the restaurant Alan Stillman lived in a New York-based neighbourhood full of a young crowd, especially girls from the airline and fashion industry. He started the first TGI Friday restaurant in New York in the hope of meeting single women as there weren't any such public place for young men and women to meet. He invested $5000 on his own and borrowed another $5000 from his mother to buy a bar named The Good Tavern and renamed the premise to Thank God It's Friday, inspired from an expression during his time at Bucknell University.

Mexican Cuisine

If you enjoy Taco Tuesday, then you have officially fallen in love with the Mexican Food. The main grain of Mexican cuisine is maize. Also known as corn, maize is grown for the past 9000 years after the crop was discovered by the people in Mayan civilization. Mexican empire flourished when they started growing beans, tomatoes, chili pepper, sweet potato and cactus. Till this date these ingredients are used in cooking authentic Mexican dishes and drinks.

Great use of spices, fresh chili pepper dishes like fajitas, tortilla chips, corn chips, salsa, chimichangas, burritos, nachos and quesadillas are invented in America. But when you are looking for authentic Mexican food then you must find a restaurant in the city that serves Rajas con Queso, Garbanzo in a Guajillo Chile Sauce, Pork Filled Chiles Rellenos, Chiles en Nogada, Molcajete Salsa, Pico de Gallo and Frijoles de la Olla. An eye-opening fact – Mexican don't like their food hot. They use fresh chili and other spices to create a flavor that lingers in your mouth.

Mexican food is great for those who are Gluten Intolerant as they use Corn instead of wheat in most of their dishes. Also, you can easily find many beans based Mexican dishes. Another dish which didn't get similar glory as tacos or nachos is the Mexican hot chocolate. If you love something hot on a chilly day, then go for Mexican Hot Chocolate. On merry days, you can enjoy the authentic Mexican Drinks like Tequila, Mezcal, Tecuí, Sotol, Bacanora, Charanda, Posh O Pox, Puebla and Pulque. Mexican Cuisine is for people who enjoy strong drinks and hearty meals.
