This meal was amazing. Portions are huge, falafels were perfectly cooked and the kabobs were tender and spiced just right. The setting was eclectic and hodge podge with a diverse clientele, adding to our experience.

I've been eating here for years and one of my favorite places to eat middle eastern food. The food is fresh, delicious, ample servings, and very reasonably priced. The staff are all very friendly, and the food is fast even on busy holidays. I recommend trying this place if you're in the area and wanting good middle eastern food, with fast friendly service, and a great price- what's not to like!? Also,if you're in a hurry, they have a drive thru!!!!

4 stars Why? Well the food is awesome, that is my reason for giving this place any stars. I ordered a cedar plate which has kibbie, meat shawarma, shish kabob, shish tawook, stuffed grape leaves, and rotisserie chicken, also a side order of Hummas and futtosh. Oh and I recieved the complimentary lentil soup or maybe it came with the cedar plate. The only part of this meal that did not taste great was the Hummas. Everything else was grilled, roasted, and spiced to awesomeness lol. 3 of us had stuffed our faces and have more than half the food left. All this for less than 40 dollars. The wait staff was just slow and disengaged. Barely checked on us, and just was not helpful. The food makes up for crappy service. I use to come here a lot growing up, use to be so well kept, always packed, and a great vibe....sucks that it's not the same but at least the food is still pretty good.

By far one of the best halal Lebanese restaurants in the Dearborn area. They're chicken and beef ghallaba over hummos are my favorite dishes. However it upsets me that they're service is very poor. We went during Ramadan and waited an hour before the waitress realized she forgot us and proceeded to be rude. Also the restaurant is not clean.

They have really good chicken shawarma sandwiches as well as their meat shawarma I'm personally not a fan of shush kabob at any restaurant it's just not the same as it would be at home but it did look really good.

So cheap, large portions and sooooo tasty. The second you sit down, you get a FREE basket with two types of pita bread and delicious lentil soup. The hummus is fantastic. Very garlicky and creamy; not as acidic. Good falafels and very well priced sandwiches (around $3). I cannot wait to go back to Dearborn and order from Cedarland again!

Came here with some friends on a recent Saturday. The place was empty at 1 p.m. but that was not surprising as it is right in the middle of Ramadan smack dab in Dearborn. The service was excellent!!! I've not had better service in quite a long time. The server knew exactly when to bring out the courses, and seemed to know when I'd had enough and brought me containers to take home my leftovers. The food was fast, hot, and very tasty!!! Soup (lentil) was served even when just a sandwich was ordered. I also got a salad with my Lamb Combo. Everything tasted great!!! The serving size could have fed two people easily. What a great place to get Middle Eastern food!!! I'll definitely be back!!!!!

I love Cedarland. We have been coming here for years and it is the best Middle Eastern restaurant in the area. I recommend it to everyone. Their lentil soup they give you is free, which I love. Their fattoush salad is the best I've ever had. It is all cut up small and I love that about it. It is not like other fattoush I have had where it is primarily all lettuce. Cedarland's fattoush has cucumbers, radishes, etc. cut up in it. I usually come here with my family so for entree we get the platter. It comes with a bunch of different meats, grape leaves, rice or hummus, and choice of tabouli or fattoush. It is definitely a lot of food and we leave with leftovers. So worth it for the price. Love this place and will continue to recommend it.

If you are looking for great authentic Middle Eastern food this place is a must try. Their pita bread is baked at their bakery next day and most times is still warm when brought to the table. You are given a complimentary bowl of crushed lentil soup which is very good. My Mom loves the raw kibbie fingers. She says it is the best she ever had. I ordered sauté chicken with almonds on top of baba ghanoush. It came with a fatoosh salad and choice of rice or fries. I chose the rice. This is my favorite dish when I go to Cedarland. Their garlic sauce is so good and not to over powering. Next time in Dearborn, this is a must try.

Since the early 1990's our family has been going to Cedarland and it is still a favorite today. A family owned restaurant, we love the food from the grilled meats to the salads. Great for any size group but especially good for large groups. We recommend their very large family platters which allows you to try many items and is great value as well. Recommended.

Cedarland Restaurant serves delicious, mouth-watering food. I'd like to give a special thanks for Detroit Yelper, Lorna, for recommending Cedarland to me. If you've traveling to Detroit, as we were, passing through Dearborn for a meal is a must! At this casual diner, we started with the hummus, and the "small" order was huge. It was more than enough for two of us. They also serve complimentary bowls of lentil soup and pita bread. The pita bread was the softest, most pillowy pita I've ever eaten. I had the chicken shawarma wrap for lunch, which comes with fries. I think you can choose rice if you prefer to keep it traditional. The wrap was so good; there were so many different flavors in a single bite. The chicken was tender and seasoned well, and the cup of the garlicky sauce was so good I ran out of it! Two of us ate very well here for $16. Now I have to begin my quest back home to find something just as good.

Actually I had a good time here. This place has competition all around. But they are here to stay. Loved everything that got served, service was great. And I think food is way flavorful than other Mediterranean places. Quantity was good. Bread and soup is really nice. Soup I do have to agree with previous reviewers is more of a chowder than Lentil like. We were with four other families, and they accommodated and served us promptly. Would love to come back.

I don't make it to Dearborn too often but we had visitors with dietary restrictions so we got some recommendations and made our way here. Amazing lentil soup. Amazing baba ghanouj. Nice fattoush too - my guests couldn't get enough! We had the cedar feast and it blew our socks off, so much so that we returned here with other guests 2 days later, and they were equally pleased. The food is plentiful, the ambience is very casual, and they're used to large groups and families with kids. It's all very earthy and unpretentious and the price is right for the amount and quality of food you get.

Lebanese style Arabic! It was wonderful. Ordered the Cedar plate and side of kibbee. Three of us couldn't finish all the food that came. Was just like my mother in law's cooking. My choice for dinner in Dearborn every time.

I've been coming here since I was three, so Cedarland holds a special place in my heart. It isn't the best arabic restaurant in town, but it is pretty good. You cannot go wrong with the boneless chicken meal. It's so tender and delicious! They're Mulukhiyah (spinach type leaf) with chicken is amazing too. I think their fatuous is terrible, but their tabouli is OK (needs more bulgur). I love the free soup and turnips & peppers. The rice pudding is made with rose water and is great. I wish they had an oven to make the bread in house. I enjoy the hummus, it's whipped very nicely. I think the inside is outdated and feels a bit grimy. I love their garlic paste. The drive threw is also a major plus.

Deboned chicken is delicious. The soup and salad that they serve with an entree is very good. Service is always good as well.

Started eating here approximately 20 years ago. Up until the last few visits I would have given Cedarland 5 stars. Used to drive here from Monroe, a couple of times a week. However the last couple times I have been very disappointed. Food quality has declined & the place is filthy. Service was the same as always, just okay. Now there are several middle eastern restaurants downriver, that I would not pass up to get to Cedarland. Sorry :-(

This is a family owned business and it shows. Everything is cooked from scratch and with love. We ate the best baba ganoush and hummus that we've ever put in our mouths. And we lived in the Middle East for 5 years!! There is a reason for this. Fresh eggplant and other fresh ingredients...this makes a huge difference. If you love arabic food as much as we do, don't hesitate! And the price is right. One order of anything would feed four.

  • Alex P.

My friend brought me here and I have to say... It's unreal. The portions are above and beyond and the prices are a secondary thought. The grilled chicken is phenomenal and their bread, hummus and EVERYTHING is delectable. I came back twice in three days lol. Serving staff is friendly too! Everyone should give Cedarland a visit.

We have loved Cedarlands for the past 10 years but have noticed that the place has gone downhill for the last few. Filthy bathrooms, sticky tables and chair backs. Soup amazing but lately is overly salted, deboned chicken relish, hummus the best. The problem we are having is not with ambience. We are talking basic cleanliness. Really filthy on our visit today. Stuck to our chairs, bathrooms foul. Makes us sad as this was our go to Middle Eastern restaurant and we took friends who had never had this cuisine as we wanted them to start out with the best. Perhaps they will clean up but until that happens, we are searching yelp for another Middle Eastern eatery in the Dearborn Arabic community.

Halal meat is served here. Owners are known Muslims. Went here with a party of 12. The place was very busy but they still gave us good service. We had the cedar mixed plate which comes with lamb chops, beef kebabs, chicken wings, hummus, baba ganoush, fatoosh salad and tabouli. We also had order of Lemon Chicken and additional Chicken Wings and Marinated Chicken Breast. Also ordered the Lentil soup for appetizer and the Mixed Fruit drink. Everything was very good. My favorites were the chicken wings and the marinated chicken breast pieces. The fruit smoothie was very good as well (they put honey into it). They have booth and table seating inside. Fast and Friendly service. Highly Recommended.

We've got marinated grilled boneless chicken with rice, babaganoudh and salad. But, as always, it came with a cup of delicious lentil soup for everyone in the group. Next to soup, they also gave pita bread and turnip pickles. Great appetizer with no extra charge. Chicken breasts were tender, well cooked but juicy and very delicious. The rice was with almonds, that made a great combination. The babaganoush was creamy and very yummy, a meal with pita bread on its own. They offer different salads each with their unique names. We asked for regular green salad that had romano lettuce, cucumbers, tomatoes in it. I think it had shredded tiny some kind of cheese in it. It came with its own dressing already mixed. We did not need to add anything to make it better. It was great enough. The place does not look well decorated or fancy, but is jus OK. The waitresses are not doing anything above expectations. which is OK as well. I come here for the taste they offer at a reasonable price. I will come back.

I've been coming to this restaurant for over 15 years now, and I can honestly say it's incredible as ever. Servings are huge for the price, so I always have lunch/dinner for the next day as well. Very reasonable and affordable. They give you lentil soup (which is hot, fresh, and so delicious) with pita as complimentary appetizers. My family usually orders the Cedar Plate, which includes kafta, chicken & beef shawarma, tawook, grape leaves, falafel, and kibbe. My favorite has got to be the chicken shawarma, and eating it with their garlic sauce makes it even more scrumptious. Speaking of their garlic sauce, it is SOO good, makes EVERYTHING taste 10x better. Also, hummus, rice, and fatoush comes with our Cedar Plate, and the hummus here is seriously the best I've had (after my mom's homemade one, of course). Overall, I would recommend this restaurant to anyone and everyone. Much better quality than the 'higher-class' mediterranean restaurants around it, and for half the price. Affordable with 5-star quality food.

The BEST Middle Eastern food I've ever had in my life!!! I've been coming to Cedarland for close to a decade now. I no longer live in Michigan and have searched for something close to the quality of food Cedarland serves but haven't been able to find anything close to it. :( I even brought my husband here when we were visiting and he agreed that it was the best Middle Eastern food he's ever had!

The food was delicious and portion sizes huuuuuge. I had the lamb combo which came w meat pie, kibbeh and kofta with rice. My friend had the pepper steak. For appetizers there was hummus, lentil soup and salad. The service was good and fast, food was great. The place was clean and there are booths on the sides with tables in the center.

THE best I've had. The lamb tongue is spectacular. My family shared this and the sampler plate. Everything was fantastic. They were out of the lentil soup. We went at 11pm. I can only imagine I can't praise it enough. 11/10!

  • Fatal H.

Cedarland is a very delicious middle eastern restaurant. I was very impressed with their hummus, it was probably some of the best hummus I've ever had. In addition, they give this lentil soup (I think it's called addas) as a free appetizer along with a large amount of pita bread to eat it with, and it was delicious! Nice and warm. We ordered the cedar plate which contained a whole lot of meat for on 25 bones! I was impressed.. It was enough to feed 4 people! The falafel was delicious, and all the meat items were good (nothing super special though). We also ordered the lamb chops with which was very tasty as well. If def go here again and recommend it to others!

Cedarland is our favorite Middle-Eastern Restaurant in the world. We have eaten at dozens, and Cedarland takes first prize. The food is delicious, and they serve it family style, which is really cool. Everybody gets lentil soup, pickled turnips, awesome garlic sauce and fresh, hot pita bread straight out of the oven. We like taking folks there who have never experienced Middle-Eastern food before. They are always blown away! I saw some comments about bathrooms and sticky tables... The place definitely isn't fancy, but I would describe Cedarland as quaint and quite authentic. It ain't perfect, but the staff and food is excellent at a great price. YUMMM!

I've been eating here for years, however not so frequently anymore. I remember when the restaurant was in what is now a bakery next door....the food really was better back then. Then it got really big and they adjusted quality detail to serve the larger crowds. I like the owners. I like the staff most of the time. This is one of two places with a large crowd of non-Arabs coming in to dine. And that is also why I believe it gets higher ratings than it should. It isn't great. There have been times when the hummus and salad were stale, the shish tawook was undercooked and I wasn't happy. There are other times when the lamb tongue plate was cooked to perfection or the shawarma was fat and gristle free and I was very happy. Then there are acceptable quantity issues. The shawarma plate used to be huge. In recent years, I was served a shawarma sandwich so thin on meat, you could pick your teeth with it. What was once the thing that made me drive long distances to eat, turned into something disappointing. It is, overall, a consistently acceptable level of quality. It is not, however, the best of what this town now offers. It is just mostly good most of the time. And, with so many other options these days, it hasn't been a regular stop for me in over 10 years.

Cedarland is great. Love the lentil soup that's served when you arrive. The Baba Ghannouj is the best here: it's so creamy and smoky. The atmosphere is diner-esque but the food is terrific.

This is the best little Mediterranean restaurant in Dearborn. They value their customers, they use very high quality meat, and their food is delicious and affordable. I love the shish kabob, and the salad is unbeatable. They don't short the seasoning either; the garlic level is like you'd find in Lebanon, not at the American level, which makes the food that much better. They make you feel like family when you eat there too. They really enjoy what they do.

  • N P.

This place is pretty amazing. It's busy and chaotic but the food is so good. We got the starter combo and one of the fattoush salads. Everything was very fresh and both of those dishes had a nice tangy flavor. The ghallaba was our entree and it was loaded with veggies. There are many more options on the menu for meat eaters but there is a lot for vegetarians too. They have a platter for about $20 which I think we should do next time. We could have been full just with an appetizer too (my friend absolutely loves the hommous here). They gave us plenty of food for two and we had a large box of leftovers. The food was also out pretty fast even though it was busy. I have to try more on the menu but I can see this being a 5 star review if future visits are this good.

I came here several times during my pregnancy (14 yrs. ago) and it was my first experience with ME food, so tonight I wanted to go back...it has been a long time and it wasn't what I remember. Service was severely lacking. I don't get it. in some ME places you will be treated like you are family. The staff is engaging, attentive and just friendly, and at some ME places you get the feeling like you've ventured where you shouldn't be. No smiles, no basic conversation (how are you...how is your food, can I get you anything else? thank you for coming) acknowledgments of thank you's...I want to say that in an economy where restaurants are closing left and right I would think you would be happy to see people. Our waitress did her job. She took our order, brought us our food and brought our bill, but was far from engaging. Remember service/ambiance is as high priority at the food. Fattoush salad, rice, soup AWESOME!!!! Chicken, Kafta, Shwarma, flavorful, but dry. Hummous/Baba Ganoush absolutely the worst I've ever had. No flavor, just flat and pasty. I requested lemon, to just liven it up a little bit. HUGE portions, enough for two meals, but quality is more important than portion. Also, the food was quite expensive. I've been to some of the higher end ME restaurants and they charge similar prices, but the quality matches the cost. With ME restaurants being a dime a dozen, this one a last time visit.

So, I came here with the band for lunch before a gig. Any place that starts out serving you lentil soup in little plastic cups that remind me of the kind my mom used to serve me as a tyke, is already a plus in my book. One of the guys got there early, so he had ordered some hummous and baba ganoush, and maybe it was I was starving or the fact that I could not put it down. But I'm picky on my baba because I grew up having friends who were from Iraq. They served not just the regular pita but the puffy kind as well. I was in heaven. In fact, I was so full that by the time my food came I could hardly eat it. Some of the guys got sandwiches and said they were really good. I had went with the boneless marinated chicken with a fattoush salad and fries. I couldn't even get through the salad and the half boneless was the same amount many places give you as a whole portion. The chicken was delicious and juicy. It was a combination of breast and thigh meat, which is fine by me. It was a ton of food, I think I have meals for at least two days! Okay two meals...but still, I would so go back here. I would go back in hopes that I got baklava and tried something else on their list. And, the place has Drive thru....I mean seriously. If I lived closer I'd be there a lot.

Have been coming here for yearsssss. Why? They're Mulukhiyah (spinach type leaf) with chicken. It's a dish usually made by someone's mom and everyone always wants it. This is the only restaurant around here that sells it. Andddd they have a drive thru!

I am a devout fan of Hamido, but today I ventured out to have lunch with some former colleagues. Cedarland was a family favorite for many years, but when I discovered Hamido's chicken, I moved on. This may not have been an entirely wise move. First, Cedarland crushed lentil soup is better than Hamido, but not a reason to go in itself. What was amazing was my spinach fatoosh with feta. I have always wondered why most Dearborn establishments have not experimented with their salads, and was pleasantly surprised that Cedarland is more creative. The combination of spinach and feta is a powerfully delicious. Highly recommended.

3.5 stars really. Awesome food at reasonable prices in a spacious environment. I like how clean the place is because a lot of places are just nasty in Dearborn. The staff are all pretty nice and enjoy a good joke. The food is not blow-your-socks-off good, but solid for sure. I was there once and one of the workers started freaking out and cussing and yelling and then one of the other staff punched him in the face so they get the extra half star for their live entertainment.

  • Chanell S.

This is my go-to Middle Eastern Restaurant and is well worth the drive from Ferndale. So why pass up fancier places in my neighborhood to go here? First, the food is always good. Even on a bad day, it is better than the places close by. Second, the prices can't be beat. My man and I order the half chicken combo with tabbouli and hummus (on separate plates bc you get more). Even if I ate meat this would be just enough for the two of us, but because I don't he always leaves with left overs.... on an $11 meal for two. Is this real life?

  • Sylvonna R.

The only thing you need to convince you to try Cedarland is the complimentary lentil soup. I could come here and ONLY eat that soup and be more content...oh, but that never happens. Why? Because the goodness just keeps on going. Hummus, shwarma, warm sandwiches, and even their tea (with honey of course) tastes divine! There is plenty to choose from so everyone can find *something* they will love. The food here speaks for itself; that is why Cedarland doesn't have to make anything fancy or expensive and they are still the best in town: the food is THE BEST hands down (I didn't intend for that to rhyme)!

true portions are generous, but some of the food was just okay. the lamb stirfry, a specialty according to waitress, was kind of bland. some lamb chops were too chewey, and they didn't ask how well done we wanted it - it was done. baba ghanoush and hummus were great. tabouli was solid, not particularly stand-out. ok service.

Probably closer to 3.5, but I'll round up because I enjoyed the experience. Came here with some friends after work the other day. I love being back in the Dearborn area because finding good Middle Eastern food is not so much of a challenge. AMBIANCE- I wasn't sure what to make of this place at first. It's got a drive thru attached to it, but this place came on a recommendation. When you walk in, it looks like it was some other type of restaurant at first, (I;m guessing some sort of diner). The back walls have two huge murals- one of people skiing and one of a village landscape. Don't really get it, but I guess that is what makes it unique. SERVICE- I'm pretty sure there was only one server that was working on the night that we were there. Didn't matter, she zoomed from one table to the next and did it all with a smile on her face. MENU- Sandwiches, entrees, appetizers. Having been back in the Dearborn area for a while, I feel that most of the menus are pretty similar. If you really need to know what they got on the menu, check out the website. My friend ended up ordering the falafel, my other friend a shwarma, and i got the 1/2 chicken, 1/2 shwarma entree. FOOD- my friends and started out with the 1/2 babba ghanouje (yeah I know I killed the spelling) and hummus. Both were excellent. Then they brought out some lentil soup. So simple but SOOOOOO good. Really dug it. With my entree I got a fattoush salad which was HUGE and ROCKIN. While we had our pre-dinner food, my friends also ordered smoothies. Both the mango, and the mango/strawberry/banana were very tasty. Finally they brought out the rest of our food. I tried my friends falafel which was ok, and my shwarma and chicken were good. It was definitely a "healthy" portion of both chicken and shwarma, and that garlic sauce is just the whip. OVERALL- like many other places I have been in the area, very good. Man I love being back in the area. Celebrity Rating- Sarah Shahi

So, the food here is not the best I've ever had, but it is definitely good. For the price, you can't beat it. The server greets you with a basket of pita, a plate of pickled turnips, and a cup of very tasty & simple lentil soup. All these freebies with a $3 sandwich make for a substantial meal. If you come with a group, order the maza tray. For around $20, you get nearly every vegetarian item on the menu. It is so much food that you have to sit at one of the bigger tables because it won't fit on the small ones! I think the baba ghannouj is the standout dish here; it is super smoky and garlicky. I've tried to make it at home and it didn't come close to Cedarland's.

What can I say about this place ? It's incredible !!! Everything was so good I don't know where to start. They're tabbouleh is awesome ! Best I've had outside my own house. Fattoush was good as well. They chicken kabob was so juicy and kafta was as well. Rice was real good and they're hummus was out of this world !!! I drove all the way from saint Louis to come here and it was worth the drive !!

I was visiting the Detroit area and a friend recommended Cedarland to me. When I got there, I was a little unsure because the decor was a bit lackluster and our service was very no nonsense. I have to say, the food spoke volumes! I had no idea that I would be getting lentil soup and it was delish! Also, the fattoush was very fresh and had just the right amount of lemon for me. I've been to several places that really overdo the dressing. I had the shish platter for my entree and it was equally as good. The portion are very large and easy to share. If you don't mind the bizarre diner feel of the place, then I think it's really a great choice.

This place was pretty good with a huge menu. I enjoyed the chicken tawook along with hummus. I liked that they gave two different kinds of bread....the thicker kind and the thin kind. The service was attentive and it didn't take long for service in general. Parking seems a bit tight in the lot and on the street, but we didn't have a problem. There was a big crowd inside, so they are obvioudly doing something right.

I went here after someone recommend this place to me. I was sadly disappointed. We started off with an excellent lentil soup, so I thought that the food was going to be fantastic. Little did I know that I was wrong! The chicken shawarma was over cooked along with the tawook. The fattoush salad lacked flavor and their bread was cold. All in all, I wasn't too impressed.

Service is sort of crummy consistently and the food isn't quite making up for it enough, so I am going down a star. I still enjoy the food and the value.

Very yummy and huge portions. My combo meal has now turned into 3 days worth of lunch. The complimentary lentil soup is lovely. The service was good, the place was clean, the ambiance was just okay. It is housed in what used to be a Denny's and still kind of has the vibe.

As someone who grew up in the middle east, this restaurant is a gift from the divine. The quality of food is excellent and the prices reasonable. We ordered the chicken platter, and there was so much food. But, the quality of the food remained excellent through all the different dishes we had. Highly recommended. I just wishes we lived near Dearborn!

Cedarland offers satisfying meals at a great value. I can't believe the enormous amount of food I got for what I paid. Dan and I took my mom out for a pre-Mother's Day dinner. The three of us split a medium hummus. She and I both had an entree and Dan got a sandwich. All of us had lentil soup and enormous salads (the soup and salad alone would have been a perfectly appetizing meal). Our entire bill including tip came under fifty dollars. I will always love Cedarland's hummus as it was my teenage introduction to middle eastern cuisine. It's as creamy and well balanced as ever and the three of us completely cleaned the plate. My fattoush was also splendid and mountainous. I especially loved the julienned bits of cucumber and radish. The lentil soup was hearty and a lovely shade of yellow, quite yummy with a splash of lemon juice. I wish I had been as thrilled with the main course. It was an admirable experiment that fell just shy of great - zucchini stuffed with lamb and rice, served in a tomato-y broth. Again, the portions were phenomenal - three stuffed zucchinis! - and the ground lamb had a pleasant, mildly spicy flavor. I wish the rice mix had been a bit more aromatic and the tomato sauce tasted just like (hate to say it) Campbell's vegetable soup broth. I also have to admit that Cedarland's pita is pretty underwhelming. However, my mother's shawarma featured perfectly cooked and tender shreds of beef and lamb. Dan's chicken kafta was savory-sweet and rolled up with those amazing pickles that give those sandwiches a vinegary edge and a delightful crunch. I am definitely intrigued to try more meaty treats at Cedarland. And with it's bright, open dining space, large comfy booths and friendly service, I always feel at home there.

Great food, informal diner-type atmosphere, low prices. Bring a crowd so you can sample many of the wonderful tastes.

I love the falafel here! I have tried other Middle Eastern restaurants' falafel, but none comes close to the texture, flavor, spices in this version. It has made me a falafel addict. It haunts me. I wake up jonesing for it. I have contemplated on it for months. Is it an appetizer? An entree? a sandwich filler? A dessert? I crave it, and I regularly look for comparable quality, but I just end up throwing it in the trash and returning to Cedarland. Excellent lentil soup, baba ganoush, shish kafta, tawook, kebab also. The fattoush can sometimes look old, with edges of the cucumber browning. And the quail is dry and tough. (Don't order it) The decor is not so hot, but I can't eat decor, so I could care less

Love this place. The complimentary lentil soup is wonderful; I'm the only vegetarian in the family and everyone generously gives me their bowl of soup (I don't eat the meat entrees they order). I don't know how they can give it up! My family's "regular" order is a grilled whole boneless chicken, with a side of hummus, fattouch, and extra side of fries. we occasionally get chicken shish kabobs and grilled kefta sticks. I've had all of these before becoming a vegetarian, and they were all cooked perfect, amazing taste. The fries were nice, huge steak fries. yumm. their hummus is also perfect-o. the waitstaff is very friendly and attentive. i've been meaning to try the fresh smoothies, as i heard they were great, in keeping with the awesomeness of the rest of the food there :)

I come from an Egyptian family and have traveled pretty extensively throughout the middle east, and I tell you plainly that Cedarland is the most authentic and tasty middle eastern food I have come across in the U.S. (dare I say, in many places abroad, as well!). My family and I have been coming here since I was little--the 45-ish minute drive from Toledo being well worth the trek--and I continue to bring my family and friends there now that I live in Michigan. The quality of the food is totally healthy and perfectly spiced. The atmosphere is laid back and has a definite feel of being in the old country on a lively summer's evening with friends, surrounded by neighbors enjoying food and life. We always get the Cedar plate, with some extra side orders of grape leaves and falafel--and, of course, take lots and lots of food home for many lunches. On a final note--whatever you do...whatever you do...do not skip (1) the lentil soup, and (2) the freshly squeezed juice. Also, consider a stop across the street to Shatila Bakery afterwards, if you get the chance(/have the room). "Sahtain!"

I love Cedarland and am always dragging others there since its not close to home. Living In southern Oakland county there are plenty of middle eastern restaurants but none up to the standards of cederland. They give you soup immediatedly, great lentil soup, before you even order. The quality is great, I have ordered the feast with friends before so I have tried most everything. The service is great and when I just took a group of women they definitely did not mind that we sat chatting for awhile. A welcoming atmosphere and great food at great prices.

I am a self proclaimed soup nut, and this place has the best Lentil soup in the area. This is saying a lot considering that this restaurant is on the strip affectionately know as "Little Lebanon". Every restaurant on Warren Avenue has something awesome to offer, Lentil soup and huge servings are this place's. Ceaderland is the Middle-Eastern staple of my lunch circuit. #2, Shish Tawook, yellow rice, hummus, and fatoush. Only now I just simply order 'the usual'.

I love this place! The atmosphere leaves a little to be desired with it's mix of Rockwellesque American photos and it's Middle eastern lights and fixtures but the food is delicious. I live in Oakland county but still make the trek to Dearborn to get their chicken shwarma. It is fantastic I also really really like their lentil soup. My family has been going to this restaurant for many years and we think it is one of the best. Their lamb is always moist and tasty. If you want great middle eastern food this is your place!

Cedarland in Dearborn has yet to disappoint me. The chicken soup is wonderful, the fatoush salad is always outstanding, and the deboned chicken has an amazing flavor and tenderness. The prices are extremely reasonable for the amount of food you get-- especially if you order the combo plate for 4; we've actually fed 6 people (with healthy appetites) on one AND had leftovers. The pita bread is always fresh and warm, and the garlic paste is one of the best I've had. They even have a drive-thru window that you can order from, as well as pick up your carry-out order at.

I went to Cedarland with a couple of friends while visiting Detroit for the holidays. I was in the mood for some Lebanese food and my friend suggested this place. I thought it was pretty good. The service was decent. All of the staff working there were Middle Eastern, as were most of the customers when we were there. They have a lot of long tables where large families or groups can eat. We were sat in a comfortable booth by the window. Our waitress had a little accent, but nothing too difficult. I also have to mention that the fatoush was very good. Again, something that I can't seem to find outside of the Metro Detroit area. Also, the crushed lentil soup was some of the best I ever had. Once again, another thing that makes me miss living in Detroit. The hummus is what makes it a solid four stars. I don't know what it is, but there is something about the hummus in the Metro Detroit area that tastes better than everywhere else. Cedarland was no exception. Also, I love that they serve big thick fries that are perfect for dipping in to hummus. I couldn't decide between the shwarma or shish. I eventually went with the shish combo. It came with a chicken, lamb, and kafta. I thought the chicken was very good. It had a great flavor and texture (I find a lot of restaurants end up giving your overcooked chicken with the wooden texture). The lamb was also very tasty and tender. I was not a big fan of the kafta. There was something about the texture that was off. I don't know if it had to do with how the meat was ground or what. But overall they were all very good. The prices were very reasonable, especially compared with some places in Dearborn. The place has no culinary masterpieces or unique takes on the classics. It is just quality Lebanese food that I grew to love up growing up in Detroit. If that is your kind of Mediterranean food, then you should like this place. The next time I go, I will try the raw kibbee and report back.

Bring your appetite - that's the opening line. Cedarland gives you more food than you can humanly eat in one sitting. One of the best Lebanese joints in Dearborn, I won't haggle over who has the top spot, but over the years, they've never disappointed. For me, my favorite is the kafta, but all of the food is great. Fatoush as well. I hightly recommend fasting before and/or after.

Tried most of the middle eastern places around Dearborn, and still always come back to Cedarland. It has been the most consistent and delicious over the past 15 years. The lentil soup is the best. The portions are huge, most of the time a single order is good for 2-3 people. The "feasts" for 2-4 people is always enough for atleast 6.

  • Ricardo H.

I was with my friend after class today and he was like "are you hungry?" and I was like "Yea!" Really, it went just like that. Ha Ha So he continued to rave about this joint and all of his ravishing raves were accurate. I got the Chicken and Lamb Shawarma combo... Let me say HUGE! So much gnarly food and the lentil soup that they bring prior to your meal was good enough for me to ask for another bowl or maybe 3 but, I refrained. No I didnt. Ok, yes I did. I wish I could say more but you'll have to go for yourself and dig it! I am still full, and as a matter of fact I am going to go to bed now and dream of swimming in a gigantic bowl of that lentil soup like it was the ocean I rarely get to see anymore.

Had lunch here yesterday. They bring you crushed lentil soup before you order. I'm typically not a fan of crushed lentil soup, but this was fantastic. They bring an entire pitcher of water to the table (and leave it) so you can refill your own water - love it. I ordered shish kabob as part of a lunch special. It is all meat - no veggies, which was a little unexpected. However, the lamb was perfectly cooked. Came with rice which was moist i.e. good, and hummus (ok), garlic sauce, and pita. Pita was soft/fresh, but in a plastic bag. Before they bring the entree, they bring a "side" salad. I chose the tabbouleh - it comes in a typical diner dish (e.g. coleslaw), but it was mounded high. Very good - not overloaded with dressing/seasoning. My companion had the fattoush which he liked a lot. Flat screen tvs at the end of the restaurant tuned to ESPN was a nice bonus. Not quite 5 stars, but awfully close. Highly recommend.

Yum. Don't come for the ambience, but do stay for the food. Wow. Full of flavor. Great variety. Huge portions. What's not to live. This one might just be as good as it gets for Middle Eastern food in Dearborn.

Cedarland in East Dearborn is affordable and delicious Lebanese cuisine at its best (unless it's from your ummu's kitchen). There are the basics like generous portions of mouth-watering shawarma, tart and crunchy fattoush salads, and cups of rich crushed lentil soup. Try their "Home Sweet Home" daily specials for dishes like fassoulia, tender lamb and lima beans in a thin tomato sauce (perfect for pouring over buttery rice pilaf). And...drumroll...they have drive-thru! Forget fast-food when you can drive up and get a shish tawook pita sandwich.

This is my go to spot for kibbe. I have a kibbe addiction. Especially, when the garlic sauce is slathered all over it. Shwarma is excellent as well. Service is friendly and they have fresh juices. It's great for the family.

I love this place! Amazing food! Although the people behind the counter need an attitude adjustment. But the waitress I get all the time is so lovely and wonderful! Lentil soup is amazing, and so are the bbq chicken wings!

It's high time I reviewed this place, since they get a sizable chunk of my eating-out budget each month...so you know I love it. No, this is not a gourmet joint with exquisite service. It has a diner atmosphere, and is even a little grimy. Kids are often playing about tables of large parties, so I would not even say that the atmosphere is especially relaxing (though I personally love that families feel relaxed enough to be themselves with their lively discussions and restless children, so for me, that's a plus). No - Cedarland is not necessarily going to be you destination for a romantic date or an exquisite dining experience. What you'll find at Cedarland is incredibly reliable service and yummy eats with generous portions. A place you can safely take your friends, large group or small, and everyone will leave happier than when they entered. Time and time again. Therefore, I can not give it anything less than five stars...for these top six reasons: 1) Their portions are enormous. When I take new people here I always warn them to share an entree, but they never seem to believe me. And then I get to say "I told you so!" in response to their wide-eyed expressions, and they get to have enough for another couple of meals at home. 2) Their prices are incredibly reasonable. Especially when you consider #1. 3) Even if you order a $3 sandwich, you get a complimentary cup of lentil soup, tons of pita, and a relish tray with those purple pickled turnips...yum! Many times I have munched on bread, soup and turnips, only to take my sandwich home! 4) Every last thing I have ever ordered here is delicious - not just adequate, but really scrumptious. I have never once been disappointed in the 12 or so different items I rotate through. Nor have any of my dining companions. 5) They are open late, which is a huge plus for my household, because we often don't even start thinking of dinner until around 9 (when many places are closing shop on a weekday). 6) They have this awesome kitschy and seemingly random mural of downhill snow skiing that perhaps has done more to educate Detroiters about Lebanon's skiing tradition than even the Olympics. I would be remiss to not mention that this place is always teeming with Dearborn's Arabic inhabitants - a sign of authenticity, I feel - and yet I never feel "othered" by the service, and we've never had to wait for a table. They can easily accommodate large parties - in fact seem geared for it, considering the group-dining Arabic culture - without so much as even a sigh or eyeroll. The waitresses may seem a little harried, but they are incredibly respectful, efficient and prompt. Cedarland is a staple in my dining repertoire, and will remain a top destination for me to bring visitors to get a taste of Dearborn's colorful Arabic culture and cuisine. if you are ever in Dearborn and craving some Middle Eastern grub, you can be sure you'll receive authentic food, stunning value, and attentive service at Cedarland.

dear cedarland, i have been eating at your restaurant for years. i guess maybe 6 + ? anyways, when i left MI i forgot about you. Not because you're forgettable, mostly because i am crazy and unorganized and prone to forgetting things. but i remembered you the other day when i was driving through dearborn. and i mentioned that i missed you. and what appeared a few blocks later {i have since forgotten where anything is in the mitten}? you! oh man. for $20: two TASTY lentil soups. 1 HUGE fatoush. on the fatoush scale it got a solid 5. a falafil sammich. and a huge hummus platter. i can't reasonably rate hummus anymore since i have been absent from this region, but it made me sad that i have been eating any of the other imitations for the past 5 years. plus drinks and a waitress that may have been my mom in a previous life. she was really sweet and attentive. maybe there are better places in dearborn but cedarland never disappoints.

My friend took me here because basically we were both starving and didn't feel like blowing a lot of money. I got the shish combo and it was a pretty good deal. For the average person, it's 2 meals in one. However, I eat for two people. It comes with 5 skewers of meat in the forms of ground meat, beef, and chicken. You get your choice of rice or hummus and a choice of fattoush salad or tabouleh. On top of that, you get a huge stack of pita. All for 16 bucks. Not bad. The portions are pretty big for the price you pay. The restaurant has its own parking lot and there is even a drive thru, although it might be easier to just call ahead and then pick up your food.

ok. love, love this place- 1 thing I miss so much being out of the Detroit area is the amazing Middle Eastern Food and let me tell you, Cedarland rocks! the lentil soup is awesome and may I suggest the following to you-Maza tray! it is SO, SO good and yes, it is vegetarian, but I'm telling you, you will not be disappointed.

My boyfriend wanted to stop here for what he calls an "Arab sandwich" a.k.a. a Lamb Sharwarma sandwich. I got the Chicken Sharwarma sandwich and it was probably the best I've ever had. It was so juicy and I love the thinly sliced pickles and the garlic-tahini sauce. The sandwiches come with a cup of lentil soup too. When 2 people can eat for under $8...it's a beautiful thing!

If you like culinary adventures, Cedarland is nice. It's a "coney island" style diner with a twist - the music is "Lebanese Idol" on CD - Arabic language dance music! My sisters are fans of the roast chicken, hummus, and Baba Ghanoush (roasted eggplant dip). I love the Shawarma, which is like a Middle Eastern version of a Greek Gyros sandwich. There's NOTHING like Cedarland in South Florida :(

I haven't been to Cedarland in a long time, but I don't remember particularly liking it. The food was nominal and my dad may have gotten sick one time we went (which is probably why we stopped going). There are much better Lebanese resturants in Dearborn, don't waste your time on this one.

It's places like Cedarland that make me miss Detroit and Dearborn. I live in the Bay area and haven't been able to find anything even close to Cedarland in California. I loved the food, the prices, the quantity -- my friends and I could share a gigantic quantity of food and not have to spend a lot of money for it. There's nothing this authentic or reasonably priced in northern CA.
