My wife and I and another couple had lunch at Pier M33 and were disappointed. We'd been there before and everything was fine, but not this time. I ordered their fish and chips and it was inedible. The portion was generous and looked good, but when I bit into the first piece, the breading surrounded a shrunken fish stick that was so tough I could not eat it. I don't know what was wrong, but sent it back and asked the server to have the cook try it. I replaced it with chicken soup that was good but very salty. Three others at our table had dressed salads, and said that the dressings tasted good but were very skimpy and wished they were on the side. One in our party asked and they brought a side. Otherwise the salads were fine. We'll go there again hoping things are better, but they weren't the day we were there.

What a nice gem of a restaurant in Cheboygan. Right on the river with a beautiful view including the neighboring marina. We ordered the ribeyes which were cooked perfectly but needed a bit more salt anf fresh ground pepper on top. The sweetened bell peppers with the bbq sauce was a fabulous topping. The calamari had a thicker breadding crust than what we are used to, but the creamy dipping sauce paired well with it. The service was friendly and we did not feel rushed, making it a relaxing and enjoyable dinner experience.

It's 2013 and still no website for this place. Trying to see any changes in the menu but had to stop in for that. Two ladies at the hostess stand were rude because I only wanted to look at the menu and not stopping in to eat. We had eaten here three times prior. Twice by other's invitation and once by our own. I have never noticed a change in the menu but Yelpers insist that it changes. Anyways... hostess stand was again a gossip corner upon our arrival for a meal. We had to listen them be 5th graders for five minutes complaining about some woman looking for a place to breast feed. First impressions people. We get seated in a cramped corner and we asked to move to another seat outside but they would not oblige because we were only four people and the outside table was for six. So we shoe horned in this spot with a baby carrier and diaper bag. Waitress twice kicked the carrier by accident (again zero room to put the baby anywhere else.) Food was alright. Burger was good but do we have to have it on a brioche bun? It distracts the flavor from an otherwise decent burger with too much bread. Lobster bites were clearly previously frozen because ours arrived at the table, still cold inside. Wife tried the Prime Rib sliders and said they were good, except for the brioche buns. Too much bread masking the quality of the well prepared prime rib. Didn't venture any further than that. This place is just expensive. No real value for money. Pasta dishes run around $15.00. Pulled pork sandwich for $13.00. Whitefish plank almost $24.00. I give the chef some credit for trying to be playful and making certain items in house but it just comes to a point where the owners just have an expensive place to eat. Hostesses are just bad people and raised without decency, class or manners. Service is average at best, and food is ok but unnecessarily overpriced. If they localized there menu instead of having Maryland crab from a can and frozen lobster tots, your price points would be lower and therefore you can offer the meals at less than inflated prices. Do fewer things better and my God, if you're going to charge $15.00 for pasta, it better come with three courses. BTW--having brioche doesn't make things gourmet.

If I could give more than 5 stars I would for this place. The entire night was perfect. Calamari appetizer, fantastic apple/celery/blue cheese soup, wife had the filet special and I the roasted leg of lamb, finishing with the best damn banana bread pudding and butter pecan ice cream desert I've had in ages. Every dish was well crafted, flawlessly executed, and beautifully presented. Service was fast and friendly. What more could you ask for on a date night out with your special lady?

We've eaten here often since they opened. Great addition to Cheboygan dining establishments. The wait staff and greeters have continued to improve and are generally friendly and helpful. They do a good job keeping the table cleaned off between courses and always are quick to refill water and check on drinks. The food is excellent. We've had most things on the menu and they never fail to delight. The soups are always worth trying. The shrimp tacos are excellent. The strawberry salad is terrific. Chicken under a brick is very tasty. The desserts are usually really good. The chef does a great job being creative. We've all noticed that they seem to be sourcing local which we really appreciate in a dining establishment. The deck is really pleasant in good weather and a relaxing place to watch the boat traffic.

One thing I love about Chicago is the wide variety of bloody mary bars in the city. They are everywhere. And I LOVE a good bloody mary. It should be thick and hearty and have some kick, and have lots of garnish (cheese, sausage, pickle, olives....) and it should really be a meal in and of itself. I will say, here on yelp for all the world to see, that the bloody mary I had at Pier 33 was the BEST bloody mary I have ever had. Ever. In. My. Life. Ever. It was dope. Totally dope. (And just as addictive, I'd say). Their secret is pickle juice (which has bits of garlic floating around in it...). Yeah, I said it- why don't you let that marinate in your brain for awhile? I could have consumed 5 pitchers of the things. The boyfriend got the mojito. I am not a big mojito person, but this was outstanding, as mojitos go. As far as food, we split an appetizer special- something with pesto and tomatoes and cheese... and can I just say it blew my hair right off my head, it was just that good. I did actually lick the dish it came in. I swear that I did. The only downside was the hostess stand ladies. They were rude, impolite and snobby. Completly unfriendly. They couldn't even be bothered to give me a curt, polite, fake smile. BUT, our server was AWESOME! She was really on the ball and friendly and all around professional!! I would absolutely return and I would absolutely recommend this restaurant. And I HOPE they open a location here in Chicago. The food and drinks were off the chain, dude....

By far the best restaurant around. Cheboygan isn't known for it's culinary prowess but with the addition of Pier 33 at least there are two good places to eat now. You will notice a dent in your wallet however. My fish was $28. Food was excellent and we all enjoyed. This is pretty much the only place you can eat with a water view. They have made a move toward local and that's always a big plus in my book.

My sister and I decided to celebrate our Mom and Dad's 58th Wedding Anniversary which was on a Tuesday evening... My sister had baked and decorated a beautiful cake which we brought in an appropriate container. We were seated and quickly met by the waitress and the Manager... Where upon they told use we could not eat the cake due to health code regulations "BIG LIE" we explained that only are party of 4 was going to be consuming are celebratory treat!!! Need less to say this put a bitter taste in our mouths. They can take a DRIVE OFF THEIR PIER!!!!! We won't be BACK.......

I'm struggling to pin down a rating for Pier 33. Probably 3 and a half stars to be fair. The burger and the outdoor seating keep me coming back, but there are just a few things that keep me from being a true fan. At least so far. The good: Pier 33 now holds claim to the best burger in Cheboygan. There's only one on the menu and it comes with bacon, cheddar, and a secret sauce, which is subtle but delicious. The brioche bun sets it apart fom others in town as well. The shoestring fries are great, but the burger comes standard with chips, you'll have to sub for the fries. I'm a sucker for outdoor seating and Pier 33 has it. The rest: Other menu items (many of which change seasonally) have been hit or miss for me. My choices are limited, though, since I don't eat fish or seafood and these are featured here. The service seems a bit scattered. Our welcome is always slightly uncomfortable, like we've just interrupted something. Something about the atmosphere is cold, maybe it's the colors in the room? Whatever it is, I never really feel comfortable, and at the end of the day, I want to dine out at a place where I can relax. Ok, I'm just going to say what everyone is thinking - why the tedious "Pier M-33 On The Cheboygan" name? Can we just ignore the official designation and stick with Pier 33? All in all, I'd like to see this restaurant succeed and it's a good addition to Cheboygan dining. It just needs to warm up a bit.

Our first dining experience at this new restaurant was interesting to say the least. While I am not a fan of the decor and the waitstaff (typically an integral component to my assessment) has much room for improvement, the fantastic food has brought us back several times. The coconut-curry scallops are amazing. Perfectly cooked scallops with a mild sweetness and a nice spicy bite has forced me to order this entree multiple times. I look forward to traveling to Pier 33 during the boating season as well. The food certainly carries the day here. A great addition to the many quality restaurants in Northern Michigan.

I figured it was a positive sign when I noticed this restaurant had its own Pure Michigan sign leading you to the door! The service was very friendly and I felt very comfortable as an "outoftowner" single diner. They are obviously dedicated to the promotion of Michigan micro- brews. I loved the decor! Light and airy with a nod to the nautical surroundings without being kitschy. If you want good food that is not standard fare and you are making a choice in Cheboygan, pick this place.

I am a retuning Snowbird and have been to Pier 33 four time already. I had the best perch I have ever had and some very interesting starters. Plan on going at least once a week. Nice view of the river and easy to find. They are doing a great job, keep it up. We have been back many times is summer and each time had something different and all of it has been great. The menu keeps changing which makes it more interesting each visit.

We ate here again this year multiple times. The service was fantastic, I arrived we'll ahead of my boating crew, 4. I Had micro draft beer and Boingo? Shrimp, great appetizer and beer. i really appreciate tasting local micro brews. As crew was docking, the owner walked up and notified me and we had a pleasant conversation. Kathryn our waitress was on top of everything. The crew ordered a couple more appetizers and we all ordered our dinners. Wife & I split as usual. When told usual split charge we declined extra plate, it was no problem. Food was pretty good. I'd like to see flavors a little more developed and distinctive but overall both food and service are high quality and friendly. The only short coming was that we were never asked if we wanted more beer or wine. They could have sold us a second glass of each. We've been coming here since they opened and look forward to it every summer.

We have been to the restaurant many times. It was very noisy when it first opened due to the construction in the building. They have put wall hangings up that have improved it. The food is always exceptional and the changing menu keeps eating there a fresh experience. The Bloody Mary's are the best I have ever had. The wait staff has always been good to exceptional. Occasionally when they are very busy the wait for meals is longer than you'd expect. I know they had to adapt to the building they bought and seem to do a very good job considering that. It is a welcome addition to the available places for dinning out in this area.

Best burger I had in Cheboygan and friendly service. I enjoyed everything I tasted I loved the views out onto the river. I will most definitely be back when I return.

My wife and I had a wonderful dinner tonight on the patio overlooking the river. I had a wedge salad that was excellent and she kicked back with what she called a "top notch" mojito. For our entrees, she chose the pork tenderloin with mushrooms and polenta and just raved about it. I had the chicken under a brick. It was delicious. All the food that passed by on the way looked wonderful. The restaurant must place a great emphasis on presentation. I'm dying to go back and try the amazing looking burger. Our server, Emily, was terrific as well. We highly recommend the place on all counts!

Loved the peaceful setting. Sat outside by the river. The Lobster fritter appertizer was good. Also enjoyed the chicken under a brick eventhough it was on the small side. Service was good and attentive.

A group of 4 of us went to Pier 33 for dinner on a rainy, Friday night. It was VERY busy and VERY noisy and we were told there was about a 20 minute wait. We opted to wait and by the time we were seated we were quite hungry. We then waited another 55 MINUTES after the friendly waitress took our orders for fish and chips and burgers. The food was hot and quite good. I really enjoyed the "Canadian" crispy, skinny french fries. I wanted to try the perch but at $19 I thought it was too spendy for a "nothing-special" plain decor establishment. It's probably nice to sit outside and eat on the porch overlooking the river, but as I said we picked a cool and rainy night so everyone was inside. Our waitress was doing the best she could with a lot of tables to handle. As the noise level rose highter and higher, so did our stress levels. We could barely hear each other. When the man/host who greeted us checked on us and asked how we liked our meal, I told him the food was very good, but the wait-time was too long. He abruptly turned around, came back with a clipboard, and started checking off our informtion; the time we arrived, 20 minute wait for our table, the time we got served...he had it all written down (we're thinking...not a good sign, this must happen often!) In the end he just looked at me and said defensively, "I told you we were busy." I told him it looked to me like he had issues in the kitchen. He blew me off and walked away. Worst customer service response ever! I subsequently asked other people I knew in the area if they had eaten there and 2 people (completely unrelated situations) said they had and that the food was good but the wait time was extreme. It was agreed that clearly, they do not have an adequate kitchen setup for the amount of people they are serving. Because the host was rude and seemed completely clueless about what good customer service looks like, I'm only giving Pier 33 2 stars. It doesn't matter how good the food is, or how friendly the wait staff, if you have to wait too long for food, it's unreasonably noisy, and you have poor service at the top, people won't come back. This person, anyway!

Pier 33 is one of Cheboygan's newer restaurants and its best. It is on par with Douglas Lake Bar for quality of food. The coco curry shrimp is my favorite and my wife likes the walleye best. We have had other dishes but these are favs. I have found the wait staff to be very friendly and had one incident (out of many visits) where the waitress forgot our table; this was quickly corrected by the floor manager. With good food and a positive attitude, Pier 33 can only get better as it matures.

Ate at Pier 33 tonight and had the duck special. Excellent! Daughter was happy as chef offered gluten free menu choices and my husband shrimp pasta was very good. Beautiful night with river full of boats, good service, good food and wonderful company.

This place was a great stop on our northern Michigan road trip! We were seated promptly in the outdoor enclosed porch area (complete with mosquito netting, which is a great touch since the restaurant directly overlooks the river), and our waitress was very friendly and helpful. The lemon garlic shrimp salad was excellent - the shrimp was perfectly cooked and the blend of greens/asparagus/feta well-seasoned. Prices were reasonable especially for cocktails. Would visit again if we ever come back to this area!

My wife and I ate here last night, and it was very good. I had the salmon--fresh, moist, and topped with a delicious crab stuffing--and she had the pork tenderloin, which she said was excellent. The service was very good; the waitress was knowledgeable, efficient and friendly. It was a gorgeous evening, so we ate on the deck overlooking the Cheboygan River. A delightful evening in every way!
