Do Go If: -You like a big gooey cheeseburger rich in flavor. -Enjoy a gently toasted bun. -Don't mind your burger be seasoned a little bit on the salty side. I almost never give out 5 stars because I reserve that for perfection and you have to save that for something remarkable. That said, Roy's was what I would classify as a delightful surprise and guilty pleasure. The overall experience earned them brownie points in my book but I'm afraid it might have put me on their bad list. The hours posted on Yelp and Google said they were open until 10pm during the week but once I arrived as the only customer at 8:50pm on a Tuesday night (tonight) I saw a handwritten hour change to 9pm. Once I returned home I verified it on their website which indicated the proper hours. Having briefly done hard time in the food service industry, I'm sensitive to showing up right before closing. It's not only inconsiderate but it can only increase your chances of getting a special secret ingredient on your food. Still the deed was already done by the time I realized the change in hours but I received a nearly perfectly cooked burger from a girl who I might say is the smiliest (we'll pretend that's a word) person I've ever met. She smiled from the moment I arrived to the moment I left (more so for the latter I'm sure) despite my moment of food douchiness (also a word). It's not really built for many diners but by the time I walked to my car I couldn't even wait another minute. The smell was fantastic and the flavors were extraordinary, only to be equaled by the contrast of textures, a slightly toasted bun and burger patty that was the perfect amount of crispy on the outside and soft on the inside. The only thing I might say could be a drawback for some is that the meat was a little salty, but this is a matter of personal preference. I don't like salty food but in this case it worked. 1/2 burger with a ton of gooey cheese and slightly salty, this place is about as American as it gets and I loved it.

The hamburgers are greasy and they were like we made them from home however home burgers are much better. The meat was so greasy that it made the bun soggy. We won't be back. There are far to many other burger joints around that are way more better. The burger also made my stomach upset after 30 minutes of eating it.

Roy's of Canton is a nice little place redone from an ice cream parlor. They have 3 or 4 tables and a service counter and that's about it. A sign advertises drive up service, but I'm assuming it's a type of car hop service for nice weather. We ordered a Big Cheese with lettuce, tomato and onion and a Mushroom Steak and Cheese sandwich. We also finished our order with Steak Fries, which were excellent, and Onion Rings and an order of Fried Mushrooms, which were both just OK. The Big Cheese was pretty good, albeit well done and falling apart and the Mushroom Stake was very good and a well filled 6 inch bun. The counter person was friendly, very helpful and came out to our table to take and deliver our order. Good menu items and I can go 3 stars after my first visit and I'll be back...

Love Roy's! The Ypsi location is great too! Great for a good burger, shakes are delicious, menu is extensive for a greasy burger joint. No frills facilities, 5 tables and a counter place your order. burgers are large and filling, I have been here many times!

The only reason for 3 stars and not 4 is the smell inside the building. It doesn't smell or look dirty at all, but honestly, it smells like a cottage or restaurant up north. So, I think they inherited the odor with the building. We were greeted by a super friendly counter person, and were the only people there. My son and I were a little skeptical while we waited for our food. Once we got our baskets and tasted the food, we were happily surprised. I got the 1/4 squeeze burger and curly fries. The burger (IMO) tasted like the Big Boy burgers, without the annoying sauce and stupid bun in the middle. It was seasoned and cooked just right. The curly fries were standard, but good. It wouldn't be one of my meals if I didn't get something weird, so I added a Diet Coke float. Yum. They do have curbside service, but there was a sheet of directions regarding how that worked, and "ain't nobody got time for that", so we just ate in. All in all, really good stop for lunch, and we'll be back.

Burgers are good but not great. Break easy and too moist. Ya I know a juicy burger is a great burger but this too moist

I was pleasantly surprised to see this restaurant FINALLY open. A couple of my coworkers and I took the trip to check it out. It was delicious! We all got the 1/4 Squeeze Cheeseburger and either curly or seasoned wedge fries with a pop. This was plenty of food for the three of us! I usually don't eat everything but it was so good I couldn't stop. The patties were thick and juicy with nice seasoning. The fries were cooked perfectly to have that nice crunch. I don't recommend the large pop over the small..it's not that much difference to pay the extra money. My only complaint was the parking...It's snowy and there's not much room. People were parking parallel giving those in the regular spots hardly any room to get out. Plus, I don't know how the car hop would work as the parking lot is blocked view by a huge snow pile. I guess you would have to call them to come out. I think next time, we may park in the office building lot next door. They do have a good option to call ahead and pick up to save time since their burgers are made to order and not sitting under a heat lamp. I highly encourage you to try. We are definately going back. Can't wait for the summer to sit on the tables that they have outside.

Yes, I agree the parking is a bit inconvenient, but walking a few extra steps is ok. The bugers have a really distinct taste...what is that seasoning? It's good whatever it is. Yes, the service is slow, because it is not fast food, assembly style junk. Give Roy's a try, you'll be back.

WOW! This is a big difference from the Roy's Squeeze Inns down on Michigan Ave and Ellsworth. The 1/4 burger was salty like no other and my stomach got bad that night. Bad seating accommodations and small parking. Never coming here again. Your lucky I like the other locations enough to give 2 stars.

We've been there twice since it opened, so we're definite fans. It's close, convenient, quick, very reasonably priced, something Canton desperately needed, and the service is friendly and efficient. We get the five-burgers-for-$6 deal, and they are excellent. The only reasons Roy's doesn't get a five-stars rating is that 1) their menu is very limited, 2) their parking lot and inside dining room seating situations leave something to be desired (if you go there when it's crowded to eat on site, you might be eating standing up), and 3) they don't have a drive-thru. It's definitely a great addition to the community, and so glad it opened up after what seemed like forever since it announced it was coming!

Although the building is small, Roy's has some good burgers. I've never seen this place packed so the smaller parking lot has never been an issue. Menu is located on a board behind the counter where you order; it's simple, burgers, fries, BBQ sandwich, a handful of other items that are priced fairly. Nothing is pre-made so wait times are in the 10 minute range but it's well worth it. The burgers are seasoned so if you don't like salt/pepper, beware. The style of burger is in line with 5 Guys but where they just throw toppings on ok meat, Roy's only puts the basic toppings on great seasoned meat. If your in the mood for a good, "greasy spoon" burger you can't beat Roy's.

This place is very interesting. I guess you'll just have to stop in for lunch to see what I mean. The burgers are good, something about them just tasted off, and the burger patty seemed to have trouble sticking together. Overall had an OK burger and OK onion rings for about $7...not bad.

I want to really love this place, but I think I'm close to giving up after 4-5 visits. It isn't the food quality at all. Just once, I would love to park my car, go in, order my food and get what I ordered within a reasonable amount of time. Not once have I been able to do that. First off, I have never seen such a bad parking lot. I truly don't know how they are going to have car hop. There is only enough room for a handful of cars. There have been times I wanted to go, got in the lot and it was full. I drove to McDonalds instead. The cashier/waitress never writes down that I don't want ketchup. I tell her, she repeats it to me, and then returns with my burger, with ketchup. Send the burger back, and it still comes back with ketchup. This has happened twice. I've had issues with the speed of the food as well, it really isn't quick. I'm not looking for drive thru quick, where you can have your food in under 3 minutes. However standing there for 10 minutes for a burger, seems just a tad too long when everything should be ready to go, other than throwing a beef patty on the grill. Their fries are not that good, and we have stopped ordering them. On the upside, the burgers are really good, and the people working there are very friendly.

I took my wife and daughter, we had sentimental reasons as Roy's was my wife's father's name. I must say the food was very good. My wife and I had the BBQ Pork sandwich, which was topped with cole slaw and resting on a buttered bun... quite tasty. The cole sale was excellent and I am picky about my cole slaw. My daughter had the Cheesesteak and fries and loved it. This is a winner!

This place has excellent burgers and friendly service. I've been there over a dozen times and the burger is always seasoned and cooked to perfection. Much better than Five Guys down the road.

Good ginormous cheeseburger and curly fries. To the reviewer who was disgusted by the smell of grease and pepper in a burger joint...What did you expect?

I went to Roy's with my 11 year old (expert) son. He has decided to make burger tasting his calling. If you are expecting 'fast food'---don't. It may take 5-7 min before your burgers come out. Are they worth the wait? Yes. No need for any salt or seasoning on these bad boys. Roy's in Canton is not a sit down place. We guess the seats are there so people can wait for their To Go. If you have any more than 4 people with you---stay in the car. The location is the only 'beef ' we have. It's not set up in an user friendly way. If they can change that; we'll give it 4 stars :) !

I've been to and reviewed the Ypsi location, but this was my first trip to Roy's - Canton. It's a little hidden away, but not prohibitively hard to find on Canton Center. The counter staff were extremely nice (one was in training) and peppy, and the cook seemed to be clean and professional. I dove in and ordered a Philly cheesesteak wihiz wit' plus mushrooms and a side of fries. This was in my top 5 of Michigan-born cheesesteaks. Just the right amount of all of the ingredients, the perfect chop and cut of meat, and the whiz...oh the whiz! The only thing I might change is to give it a little hardier bun, and of course make it bigger! The fries were hot and crispy and all was good in the world. I left a contented person...to return in the near future I'm sure.

Just finished a watery, greasy 1/4 Cheese Squeeze. I think it's the lettuce that makes it watery, or maybe they plunge the burger - bun and all - into a cup of water like competitive eaters do (then "Squeeze" it). The whole thing was soggy and smashed when I got it take out, after just 1 mile drive home. There were more onions on it than beef. The seasoning is good, though. The fries were undercooked. Prices on their website are wrong. My sons "5 Cheese Littles" read $6, but we paid $8 when we got there. We live so close, and wanted to like this place. Had stayed away because of the mixed reviews. Our stomachs are beginning to make noises and there's grease left in my mouth. Should have "went with our gut," now our guts are hollerin'!

Their burgers are called Squeezes and they just ooze cheese. The service is fast but their indoor seating is 3 tables. Good thing they have a drive thru.

Oh my goodness! My husband and I didn't feel like going out to eat dinner so we had heard that this place finally was opened and decided to go there and bring home our dinner the weekend before last. We walked into the place and first of all noticed that there are only a couple of places to sit which bummed us out. But the stench in the place just about made us fall over! The smell was awful, it smelled like pepper and oil and grease! It was brand new and didn't feel very clean and while we were pleasantly waiting for our food (which took quite awhile and there were only a few couples in there), the counter girl told us to "go out to your car and we will bring your food out to you as it gets pretty congested in here". Well, we wanted to just wait and didn't feel like sitting in our car, so we didn't! Well, nobody said anything, so that was good anyways. We finally got our food after waiting what seemed to be forever and a day! We got home with our bag of dinner and it was as though everything had been "squished" together and it all ran together inside of the bag and was a huge mess! There was condiments all over everything and the paper coverings were wet and squishy and had gotten weak and had holes in it! I didn't like the taste of my food at all! The fries weren't great and I"m a french fry " enthusiast! I also didn't like the cheeseburger that I got. The burger had a very high pepper content and tasted so much like pepper and spices that I didn't like or enjoy it all. So now I guess with 2 new burger joints in town...we'll be spending our money at the competition *(5 Guys Burgers & Fries ) !! Sorry for the "downer" review!

This location of Roy's Squeeze Inn has made its home in a tiny former neighborhood ice cream shop. There are only a few seats inside around a few tables, and some bar/counter seating around the street side. They do offer car-hop service, but I can't vouch for it yet, nor was it apparent how to catch their notice from out in the lot. Something kind of rubs me the wrong way about calling a burger a "Squeeze". I would rather think of my burger as a nice juicy patty, done nice and brown on the outside, and topped with great stuff (which is how it came out). Calling it a "squeeze" leaves a factory-abbatoir image in my head, with raw meat getting pumped through stainless steel pipes. Fried mushrooms are a unique addition to the normal menu you expect at a burger & fries joint. The pulled pork is kind of spicy, and much better than I expected from a burger joint. They have bbq beef too, but I didn't try it. If you don't like cole slaw, be sure to ask them to leave it off your bbq sandwich. It seems like it has taken forever to open and we were worried that it had fallen prey to the recession. It is nice to see places opening instead of closing for a change, and it is a welcome addition to the neighborhood.
