From the moment we walked in the door right down to the second we left, the staff was the friendliest and most polite I have ever seen anywhere. The menu was pretty extensive and I had a hard time trying to decide what to get. I ended up getting the Acapulco Salad. A fried flour tortilla shell with lettuce, beef, chicken, shrimp, cheese, onions, tomatoes, and sour cream. This thing was huge and delicious! I sipped on my Negra Modelo and enjoyed a great dinner and great atmosphere. I will definitely come back here again!

I'm surprised by the good reviews. I ordered chicken enchiladas (on 2 separate occasions) and the chicken was rubbery and gross. Dark meat mixed in. Ick. Service was terrible both times, too.

Best Mexican restaurant in the area! Never disappoints! Clean inside too! Staff is always so nice and attentive. You can truly tell they sincerely appreciate your business.

I was unimpressed with this restaurant. It was mediocre at best. I ordered two beef tamales, but the chef must have forgot the need part! I ended up eating a corn tamale only! Very disappointing.

Service was great. Food was semi-authentic. I live in San Diego so I am used To extremely authentic Mexican cuisine. My taco was very "taco bellish." And my chile relleno was literally the size of a small skinny finger. I ate it in one bite. It was so small that I was confused. I thought it was hidden under the cheese or something. Anyhow, the Ultimate margarita was delish, and strong enough for a buzz. Good pricing, and again, great friendly quick service. I would definitely recommend for this area!

35 years old and this is the BEST Mexican restaurant I have ever been to. I've never had a dish here that didn't wow me. Burton is not exactly a food mecca, but El Cozumel is simply amazing. I'm so thankful I don't live too far from here. :)

We just moved here from California two days ago and found this awesome Mexican Grill. I loved my flautas, my husband had the 5 enchiladas, and my sister had soft chimichangas. We also had a kids quesadilla and the cheese dip for the fresh chips. We will definitely be back. This will probably be one of our go to places when my parents visit too. Everything was delicious. Prices are awesome in comparison to every Mexican restaurant I've ever been to. Only $35 for three adult meals, one child's meal, and cheese sauce appetizer side. The staff were all really nice and they told me about the areas that are good to live in and good schools. I am looking forward to going back here regularly. Now all we need to find is an amazing house to live in nearby. And we did. :)

Good Mexican food. Chips are fresh and the salsa and the queso are both good. Ordered the Super Veracruz ($17.95) which is shrimp, a chicken breast, and a T-bone steak on a skillet served with 3 tortillas, rice, and refried beans (frijoles). Alone, the chicken and steak are overcooked and dry. But it has good flavor when you combine it on a tortilla. I would definitely come back to try something else on the menu. While the Super Veracruz was good, I'd like to try their tilapia.

I would describe the food to be decent. The wait staff was friendly and accommodating. Had the veggie fajitas which was pretty good. Good seasoning with nice char on the different veggies that were chopped in to perfect size for putting on a tortilla. Also sampled a tamale which came on a plate removed from the husk with cheese and mole like sauce. It tasted ok but could have been better without the cheese and the sauce. I like tamale without lot of stuff on it, just bit of salsa. I would go back in the future.

We stopped here on our way through town because of what we read on Yelp*. Very glad we did! Service was A+. Not just from our waitress but from other staff who cleared dishes etc. Very personable. Food was extremely tasty! I tried something I haven't had anywhere before and was not disappointed! Chorizo queso dip was outstanding. Fried ice cream for desert -chocolate, -raspberry was perfect ending to a delicious meal. The clean, colorful atmosphere was just an added bonus. It got four stars because I don't ever give 5 stars--

Soo good. Living in Ann Arbor where good Mexican food is lacking, this was a treat.

Excellent place! Service was stellar, food (burrito loco) was unbelievably tasty. It was on the table minutes after ordering... There are two Mexican restaurants in Flint that remind me of dining in San Diego; this and El Portrero on Fenton Road. Can't wait to come back!

Eh food. Good drink. Fair price. The after affects of the food were felt by everyone in the house that ate there.

I really like this place! Found it after going to PF in Courtland Mall and have been back several times. I'm a creature of habit so I tried (and have kept trying) their taco platter. It's 3 tacos, beans and rice. The prices are very reasonable for what you get. I don't care for refried beans much so I just double down on the rice which is so incredibly worth it. The rice is fantastic which is hard to say for rice but it just is! The tacos are pretty good, nothing amazing which is why this isn't a 5 star, but they're awfully good! The decor kind of sucks though. Its like Tijuana exploded in there. They could stand to tone is down a bit, but I do love those crazy chairs! If you crave mexican dine-in in the Burton/Grand Blanc/Flint area than El Cozumel SHOULD be on your radar! FRESH AND HOMEMADE CHIPS AND SALSA!!!! MMMMMMM!!!!!!!

Delicious, somewhat authentic Mexican food at a great price. Great service, colorful fun environment. This is the place I've been longing for in Chicago. Oh and be sure to try a margarita.

Awesome food, awesome service. Try the burrito marino or the chicken soup. Both are absolutely amazing.

My favorite sit-down Mexican place in Michigan. Good service and excellent food. Prices aren't outrageous.

Mexican Cuisine

If you enjoy Taco Tuesday, then you have officially fallen in love with the Mexican Food. The main grain of Mexican cuisine is maize. Also known as corn, maize is grown for the past 9000 years after the crop was discovered by the people in Mayan civilization. Mexican empire flourished when they started growing beans, tomatoes, chili pepper, sweet potato and cactus. Till this date these ingredients are used in cooking authentic Mexican dishes and drinks.

Great use of spices, fresh chili pepper dishes like fajitas, tortilla chips, corn chips, salsa, chimichangas, burritos, nachos and quesadillas are invented in America. But when you are looking for authentic Mexican food then you must find a restaurant in the city that serves Rajas con Queso, Garbanzo in a Guajillo Chile Sauce, Pork Filled Chiles Rellenos, Chiles en Nogada, Molcajete Salsa, Pico de Gallo and Frijoles de la Olla. An eye-opening fact – Mexican don't like their food hot. They use fresh chili and other spices to create a flavor that lingers in your mouth.

Mexican food is great for those who are Gluten Intolerant as they use Corn instead of wheat in most of their dishes. Also, you can easily find many beans based Mexican dishes. Another dish which didn't get similar glory as tacos or nachos is the Mexican hot chocolate. If you love something hot on a chilly day, then go for Mexican Hot Chocolate. On merry days, you can enjoy the authentic Mexican Drinks like Tequila, Mezcal, Tecuí, Sotol, Bacanora, Charanda, Posh O Pox, Puebla and Pulque. Mexican Cuisine is for people who enjoy strong drinks and hearty meals.
