Went to Pete's Place Brownstown today after bad experience last week at Taylor location. Lunch was perfect!!! I posted pix of my house salad with a burger and grilled onions on top (instead of steak from menu) and they prepared it with no problem. Hubby had omelet that was just right. Many coffee refills, spot on service and just a relaxing, no stress lunch.

My family and I love this place. The breakfasts are great and the servers are friendly... they even make my toddler's pancakes in the shape of Mickey Mouse. Highly recommend.

We visited Pete's on a Saturday at lunch and I had heard good things about it. Unfortunately my experience was not so. Our service was VERY slow, we were with a group of 12 people. The food came out in a very random fashion, my cheeseburger was 1/2 gone before my sons kids pizza even showed up. Then our checks came before all of our food was even served (probably because it was so sloooooow). The food was average, the service average, the pace was horrible, so for that I am giving them 2 stars. They were not crowded and there wasn't even a wait. Hopefully our experience was not the norm. The atmosphere was good, plenty of TV's on the bar side if there is a game you want to see while you wait and wait and wait for your food. Lunch took almost 2 hours.

I love Pete's Place food. I haven't dined in at this location in a very long time. I can tell you that the last two times I placed carry out orders, I've been treated pretty rudely by I believe the same person both times. When I call and state that I'd like to place a carry out, the first questions I get is "You know you're calling Brownstown, right?" in a rude tone. I understand that having two locations on the same street may be confusing, but maybe they could sa "Pete's Place Brownstown" when they answer the phone if this is a recurring problem. It could be because I generally call from a 313 phone number, but even still, I don't think that their current process for verifying that customers are calling the correct location is the best option. They did make 2 of our soups with sour cream (even though I asked for it without) but luckily you can scoop it off the top. Hopefully the owners see these reviews from Yelpers and work on client service.

Glad we found this place! We are camping in the area and stopping at small and local places to eat. Sampled waffle, pancakes, biscuits and gravy, corn beef hash and the home fries. All were great, cooked perfect. You could hear the cooks working on our food in the kitchen, it wasn't frozen-from-a-warehouse food. We would go again.

This place is a bit a hit or miss. I have been coming here on and off for about a couple years since its by my work. It seems like every single time I order take out they seem to always get my order wrong. The waitstaff is not at all friendly they are too busy to even greet customers with a hello but have time to text on their phones. Today I ordered the lunch special, which was a tuna sandwich and bowl of clam chowder. The tuna salad was pretty good but the bread I ordered wasn't what I got. Ordered whole wheat bread got white bread. I usually wouldn't make a big deal about it but they always get things like this wrong. The clam chowder was overly salted that I actually felt my blood pressure going up. It was way too thick that it had a consistincy that reminded me of a country gravy. I don't think I will come back since i've given this place more than one benifit of the doubt.

Good portions, cheap prices! The pancakes were delicious! The bacon was kinda skimpy but it was cooked perfectly. The omelets and potatoes looked delicious too!

The food here was delicious! It was too bad they don't have the service to match. My boyfriend and I went there for lunch one day and a large party was leaving as we were coming in. The entire time we were there, the staff was making people wait to be seated all because no one was clearing empty tables. One girl kept running around telling people, "We just didn't have time to clear anything because we had a HUGE party just now." That went on for 45 minutes after that huge table had already been gone...

Ment to review Taylor location. Haven't been here in years. My aunt use to live in the apartments behind the restaurant. We'd eat here some times.

Everything was cold except for my med-rare streak that was cooked to shoe leather. Way to go cook for caring about your customers ....

Food is always good! The charbroiled chicken grinder and the tomato basil bread bowl soup are amazing. Haven't been disappointed and I always try something new.

I had not been to Pete's Place for many years , and I have to say I was pleasantly surprised. The space is clean and renovated fairly recently. Food is standard diner fare but done pretty well. Wait staff is friendly. I would probably return for a soup or sandwich.

Great food and outstanding service. We just moved other area and looking for a new local place for quick meals. Try the Italian grinder. Ambiance is warm and clean. Smaller than most places but that suited us just fine.

We were told to come to Pete's Place by a friend and were in the area. The homemade cookies were AMAZING but the staff was borderline rude and seemingly distant even though we sat right up front. The iced chai latte was really good although we heard the waitress say "all this chai is, is this liquid in the bottle and then milk? That's too easy". The espresso machine must have been really messed up because we asked for one and were given an espresso cup with only 1/4 of it filled up. Definitely not the right measurements. When we called it out the waitress didn't seem to care and walked right on by. So we asked for a second espresso shot and that one came about halfway up the tiny little cup. Probably only one fourth of an ounce the first time and maybe half an ounce the second time. Thankfully the waitress heard my laughter over the ridiculousness of the tiny sip of a tiny cup and only charged us for one espresso shot afterwords but it was a bit ridiculous. Two "espresso shots" from there was half of one espresso cup. They should know better that those tiny cups are meant to house an ounce of coffee and should've kept the machine working until the cup was almost full. A sip is not an ounce.

Have had allot of people tell me to check this place out. Went with my girlfriend for lunch and the food lost it for me overall very bland and lacking flavor, dry chicken mixed with no seasoning is a recipe for disaster. The good would have to be the service and environment also the mimosas were presented very well there.

We went in because of the amazing beer flight special 3 bucks for flights!!!!! They bragged about the craft beer selection which the menu is very very impressive!!Three of us absolutely love beer so what better place !!! I asked the server which IPAs they had and she had no idea what I even meant so that is a little sad I think they should have some basic knowledge on Atleast what they are offering...3 of the 4 I ordered were out . When I asked for suggestions she didn't have any.I came up with 3 more... Huge disappointment since they were all IPAs and similar beer which is why we went in... We didn't enjoy the ones we ordered so we ordered another flight . 2 of those were out and we all just ordered random things which we ended up leaving behind. Since the beer didn't work out and It was like 3 pm and we were hungry, we all ordered food which was amazing!! The tempura shrimp in an Asian spicy sauce ( a special) it was sooooo delicious!!!!! I wish I ordered another . I ordered the fish I believe mahi mahi or tuna sandwich it came plain with just bread which wasn't very tasty and kind of dry The description said with a Mediterranean cucumber dressing.. The server had no idea what I was talking about and brought me gyro sauce... Which didn't really compliment the fish.... The boys ordered a Reuben and they loved it. Overall the experience was decent. Although the server didn't have beer knowledge she was very friendly. I think overall if it was a basic restaurant I would be very satisfied but I had high hopes for the taproom and beer selections on the menu ( the reason why we and in ) I would go again for the shrimp and if the beers are all available .

Every time I hear that the Eskimos have a ton of different words for snow I cringed til today. To call what Pete's Place serves as food is a dis-service to the word. Vile, nasty, and other non complementary adjectives come to mind. The wait staff is passable at best. Too many of them had their heads buried in their mobile media devices to notice or care. The food insults the memory of solyent green let alone real food. The fish was over battered, on the small side, and somehow dry and dusty. The triple crown of revulsion. Rarely will I indulge our child and say he doesnt have to eat what was on his plate. Not only that but I offered to take him to McDonalds for Mcnuggets. When McNuggets sound good to me after sampling what was served to him; well there is no going back to this place. Consider to be warned....inattentive staff, cooks who at best can work a microwave... Be Wary

We have had a bad experience at this restaurant in the past but decided to give it another chance. We entered and the waitstaff peered out from behind a wall looked at us and then returned back behind the wall. 3 to 5 minutes later the waitress decided to come to the table and greet us and bring us menus. She was not pleasant and I regret our decision to Dine at this establishment. The waitstaff is a joke and extremely inefficient and discourteous. The waitstaff lacked any hint of professionalism for the duration of our visit. I even watched on as another set of customers entered the restaurant and once again the waitstaff did not greet the customer and waited several minutes before even acknowledging their prescence. Upon checking out I took my check to the counter, paid the bill and as I was signing the receipt when the waitress said have a good day and simply walked away. So there I was standing at the counter with my signed receipt while she exited my view and did not return. So I guess after you sign your receipt you should just leave it on the counter and when they want to return they will place it in the drawer for you, this is completely an unacceptable behavior in any restaurant or place of business. Let me remind you that at this time there are four tables that are occupied with an average of two customers each so this business was not busy, after experiencing their level of service I guess I can see why they are without customers. The sad part is that Petes place actually has a decent menu, we have dined at the Taylor location and the Brownstown location in the past, both having hits and misses. I can say for certain that this is my last time going to this restaurant it appears that they have lost any value in the customer experience. The food was decent but definitely lacked something. My mother's soup was even cold. Best of luck to this business it appears that they spent most of their money on their decor in both the Taylor and the Brownstown location instead of training their staff. I would also like to add that I had ordered takeout on a couple different occasions in the past from the Taylor location as well as the Brownstown location and it never fails that they end up missing something such as the chili that goes inside the bread bowl or the Bread bowl itself. After speaking with my family about the experience, it appears my experience is not isolated. My family members have experienced the similar and simply do not go to the restaurant any longer. Best of luck and I hope you revamp your business, sad to lose a once decent restaurant to poor customer service. Goodness knows we are lacking good restaurants in this area.

Good service, but the food was average at best. Potato soup was tasty and warm, not hot. The stroganoff had an odd flavor and was very hot. Kind of backwards. Won't go back.

What is great about Pete's is that it's consistant..you know what to expect. It's not fancy, but that's what I like about it. It's a casual restaurant with better than casual restaurant food. If you asked the customers in Pete's how many times they'd been there, you'd have a hard time finding someone that said it was their first time. Pete's Place is a local tradition downriver. Grandparents took their grand-kids, who are now taking their kids. If you've never been there, try the Monte Carlo sandwich, it's different, but in a great way. Their specialty coffees are a "newer" addition to their menu, and they put Starbucks to shame! This is one of the few restaurants my whole family can go to and no one is disappointed with their food, and that is a rare thing.

I've been going to Pete's Place for years, since I was very little and my grandparents would bring me here. As far back as I can remember, I was always excited to come here. The most recent time I dined here was just about a month ago. As others have said, the inside is more coffee shop than diner. I wouldn't really call Pete's a diner though. I have to say though, I love the quotes on the walls. It's such a cute, quaint place, and the remodel a while back has really made it so much more awesome! I always get the pierogis when I'm here, they're potato and cheese, served with sour cream. I lovelovelove pierogis, and these are some of my favorite, they're just so good. The last time I was here I also got the beef stroganoff. The portion was absolutely HUGE! It was pretty good, but the gravy/sauce was too clear. I prefer beef stroganoff that has sour cream in the sauce. Salads here are huge and breakfast is good. They have lots of specialty coffees and they're amazing too! Definitely get a coffee, no matter what time you're in! I've never had a problem with service here, everyone has always been friendly and attentive. Love this place and will definitely never stop going here!

i read the reviews on my phone, and was mistakenly excited for what i thought to be a non-chain (which are hard to find around here). while the food was totally fine, the ambiance lacked. that said, it is a great deal for large portions of totally reasonable food.

I don't get it. What's with all the raving reviews? This place is a three star at best. It wasn't bad but I just don't think it deserves a 5 star rating. The location is in the middle of nowhere much like everything else around Romulus but that isn't a problem. Walking in you're greeted with a cozy coffee shop atmosphere rather than a diner. There are inspirational quotes about food along the walls very reminiscent of Branes & Noble. A lot of dark wood and cream colours. The service was friendly and fairly quick. The food was mediocre. I had a grinder with onion rings and coleslaw. For those that don't know what a grinder is, it's a sub. Yeah, I didn't know that either. I got a charbroiled chicken grinder and the chicken was tough. Biting into it as tough. Chewing was tough. Cutting it with a fork and knife was almost impossible. I was basically ripping and gnawing at the sandwich. By the end of it, my plate looked like it was ravaged by a dinosaur. The coleslaw was of the creamy variety. It was tasty and not of the radioactive green kind. The onion rings were very strange. It tasted like the onions were on the verge of expiry. They had a wet, watery, and almost perfume like taste. The batter was good but the taste put me off for the rest of the meal. Overall, I wouldn't recommend coming here. You're not missing much. The prices are very good but unfortunately the quality isn't. I do recommend the cookies here as they are soft and tasty.

Not bad. I'd come back. I had the lemon pepper baked cod, which was good, but came out a bit luke-warm rather than hot. Can't fault them too much for that though - it was super busy in there and the cold draft coming from outside probably didn't help much either. Everything was very tasty though. They don't serve beer. Boo.

PETE's is the best diner ever. Fantastic food and great service. They even have really great specialty items. Desert and coffee is a great option for evenings. WIFI in a very comfortable atmosphere we have had breakfast, lunch, dinner and dessert here. Servers are always friendly and efficient. We almost always run into friends here. Great place and they even have coupons floating around.

Food is good and plenty, but from my experience the service isn't always fast. Petes has their own recipes and isn't your same old cafe food. I would give 4 stars but because of the sometimes slow service I gave it a 3. We go here often.

I love this place. I have yet to have a bad meal here. Their omelets are awesome for breakfast and grinder sandwiches are excellent for lunch or dinner. They also have really good cafe drinks and seasonal choices like pumpkin spice lattes. It's a quaint diner/cafe with free wifi and has a comfortable atmosphere. The girls that work here are really friendly and fun to talk to. My sister and I went in for dinner and it started to downpour, so we hung out for about an hour and had coffee so we didn't have to walk home in the rain. It was later in the evening so we were the only customers, and the girls were great and friendly and we had a good time just lounging with some mocha's.
