The food is absolutely amazing! However, it is a bit over priced and the service was extremely slow when we were 1 of about 6-8 tables. You must try the scallops and the lobster bisque. Improve the service and you are 5 stars!!!

Stopped in at lunch, but ended up ordering from the dinner menu because I had heard about the scallops. Wow! The sea scallops melted in my mouth. They were obviously fresh, perfectly prepared, and so good! The risotto was a perfect compliment. I don't care for asparagus, so they substituted fresh green beans. The waitress was knowledgeable and pleasant. It's a little pricey, but so worth it!

My husband and I have this thing about new restaurants...we like to wait to visit until they have all the bugs out of the service and meals (metaphorically speaking). Alexander's has been open for a while now, so we tried her out. The start of our dining experience was not so great, but once they found out about their mistake, it was smooth sailing after that. We had been seated and no one came to wait on us for 10 min. The host came by and I asked him if we could get service. He gasped, because he remembered seating us. I do believe it was a misunderstanding with the wait staff. Once she knew we were in her section she was very attentive. We had the baked garlic and goat cheese for an appetizer, which was good, but I would have liked more goat cheese. And loved the loaf of bread they brought to our table. My husband had the pork chops, which were amazing and I had the crab cakes, which were huge and so good that I asked the host to complement the chef. Yes it is expensive compared to the other restaurants in Brighton, but you get what you pay for and I had no problem paying for my meal. Well worth it. We will be back!

Food was great except the tenderloin tips. They were overcooked. The calamari was excellent! Everything else we had was very good and we had great service. We will definitely go back.

My husband and I have been to Alexander's half a dozen times in the last two months after we were told by a friend how good it was. Each time we have gone we have been greeted in a professional manner and have had outstanding service. The food presentation is wonderful and the taste has been amazing each time. We will be back for sure!

I came here for happy hour, so filled up on the half-price martinis and $5 appetizers. The drinks were excellent, as were the fried asparagus, fried calamari, and escargot. The entrees cost more than I like to spend, but the only one I tasted, the scallops, was excellent.

We went to Alexander's on a Saturday night in search of fresh seafood. There were three of us and we started with oysters that were fresh and delicious , and a nice bottle of wine. We followed that with salads, good also. For dinner we all ordered seafood that was beautifully presented , fresh and also very tasty. Problem was the waitress could not leave us alone. She constantly keep interrupting us and pushing us to order our next course. It really brought the evening down. With those prices, let us enjoy our food and good company! Food a 4 star, service a 21/2 star. She did our orders correct and brought our bill promptly.

Very good food. Nice decor. Outdoor seating and lots of room for parties. Lobster bisque was great and prime rib is good. We have been back many times. Nice dinner in Brighton? Sure, this could be your place.

My husband and family & friends went to Alexander's for the first time on my hubby's b-day (Dec 28th). The staff was friendly and helpful. I really wanted to like Alexander's, a seafood restaurant that's fine dining is just what Brighton needs- and bonus it's not a chain! Not to mention everything on the menu sounds amazing! Perhaps our expectations were too high because, unfortunately everyone found the food to be lacking. It's a tradition for my husband to have king crab legs on his birthday, so we were disappointed they were sold out, unfortunately we didn't find out until we tried to order them (it would've been nice to know that the kitchen was out when we were given menu). I believe our reservation was 7:30ish on a Saturday, it seemed odd that the kitchen was already running out of food. But, this didn't ruin the evening. I ordered the Block Island Swordfish and asked that it be cooked medium rare, when the server informed me that the chef recommended it be cooked well-done it SHOULD have been a clue to me not to order it. I went ahead and had it cooked as the chef recommended, which I think contributed to it's totally flat flavor (even tho it was supposed to be blackened). The risotto on which it was served had a decent flavor, but was undercooked, so I sent it back. Upon it's return it was still undercooked. I didn't have the heart to send it back a second time or ask for a substitution (as I hardy send back food, I have this guilty feeling doing it even tho I know it's silly). A few people got the lobster bisque which has potential. It had good flavor and the way in which it is presented is unique. Unfortunately the soup was not very hot, and one of the dishes had a 'skin' on top indicating it had sat under a heat lamp. Alexander's could be so much more and so much better. I'd like to try it again, but for the price-point it's hard to want to risk a rather disappointing and expensive meal.

Alexander's= Applebee's. Except its more expensive. Sorry guys, we won't be back. It's trying to be upscale but miserably fails. (Valet parking when there's a field of parking available?!?! Give me a break). The decor looks like they ran out of money converting the restaurant from an old Denny's to this place. Some weird black and white plastic shingles on the wall. The waitress was difficult to find at times and at 830pm on Sat night, they were already out of 4 dishes. Poor kitchen management. The food was mediocre at best and tasteless at its worse. Honestly, save your money and just go to Applebee's or an Olive Garden if you want this quality. Note to owner- managers and host staff standing around and gossiping doesn't help.

Very disappointed. Never received the crab or bernaise sauce for my filet Oscar but was charged for it. We were charged for the free Ice cream that comes with the kids meals. My kids never received their drinks. Service was slow with minimal people in the dining room. We won't go back.

Went to Alexander's tonight for my birthday and it was excellent! Hubby and I both had the escargot and then the spinich salad to start and both were very good. Hubby had the crab-stuffed flounder which he said was great. I had the scallops and they were fantastic! They were caramelized perfectly and served with risotto and asparagus. Yum! Very good experience and we will definitely go back!

Very expensive food for the taste. Waitress said they were known for their fish, so we tried Great Lakes Perch and Crab Stuffed Sole. Yuck!! Fried and fishy... Not impressed. Would have spent the same or less money at Stillwater Grill in downtown Brighton, and would have gotten double the amount of food. Stay clear of this place.

With such limited fine dining-ish options in Brighton, my wife and I were looking forward to stopping into Alexander's for happy hour on a fine August Sunday afternoon. Decor first - this isn't your parents' JB's Brighton House. Gone is the 70's era feel - dark, smoky and retro, but not in a good way. Extensive renovations have brought the space current with tasteful furnishings and natural light. We started with cocktails- I was pleased that they carry the excellent Tito's Vodka and my wife opted for the Strawberry-Basil Mojito, which exceeded my expectations - sweet but not too much so. We ordered the Spicy Tomato and Leek Soup - nice flavors, light and just the right amount of subtle heat. The Smoked Salmon Plate was simple and very well done. Nicely accompanied by toasted French bread, hard boiled eggs, diced onions, capers and the not entirely necessary but good horseradish cream sauce, it was a hit with both of us. We were both underwhelmed by the Ahi Tuna. Tuna was fresh enough but the scant seasoning and small amount of ponzu sauce left this without much character. We were intrigued by the Heirloom Tomato Salad which is served with pickled red onions and housemate ricotta. This sounded like a home run and while it was good, it was not all it could be. Some salt and pepper would make this a much better dish and when we shared this opinion with the server she told us that some dishes were designed with gluten free diners in mind and that was why some dishes were left under seasoned. (???) Otherwise service was good, all staff was friendly and they all seemed to be trying hard to make this the fine dining experiment our area is missing. With time and repetition, I think they will get there. Good experience overall and I look forward to getting back to try the Sea Bass and Cioppono.

Just had the biggest let down of the year giving Alexander's a fair shake. Stayed safe with Calamari (that was small portioned and average tasting). The lobster bisque was well presented but only like warm. All the crab from appetizers to crab stuffed sole left a bad after taste and rumbling gut. We were disappointed at virtually every turn of the evening and left with a large buyers remorse with a large bill. Ugh!

We went to Alexander's for a Saturday night dinner expecting the best based on some local comments. Alexander's was a very $$$ for an average dining experience. When you spend more than $200 on a dinner for 4 you expect the service to be responsive and the food quality/presentation to be excellent. Alexander's did not meet any of these requirements. Although it was a Saturday night and they were busy, the service staff seemed confused on roles and responsibilities which lead to delays and rechecking our orders. Our group's meals were all average. Presentation was good but it looked and tasted like they had been sitting for a while before delivery. My steak was ordered medium and it came out well to over done. Much better dining options in Brighton for a lot less money. Brighton Bar and Grill etc.

I finally found my replacement for one of my favorite haunts in Chicago - Jilly's - that closed a year ago. And right in my beloved hometown in Brighton. And Brighton NEEDED an upscale dining option. High-five to Alexander's, which has a great bar area - enough to make you want to skip the dining room. I'm not even a seafood fan (that's their specialty) but they made this land-lubber pretty happy. Great wine list, relaxed vibe, and good food but I think their strength is in their service. Terrific bar tender Jackie will steer you to the right menu items, and the rest of the staff seemed equally friendly and attentive. This is the kind of place that makes you want to become a regular. It's why I moved to Brighton, and Alexander's exudes it. Ask Jackie for a "nice Hawaiian punch" and you'll see what I mean. Ahoy and enjoy.

Have been here numerous times. Have always had good food and good service. It is a little expesnsive, but a little more upscale then the owners other location. Captain Joes.

Yea! Brighton has an upscale dining option! My family is not in to seafood but there are some great options on the menu. They do have a kids menu with all the usual options. We brought our 9 year old and she was pleased with her choices. I started with a garden salad. It was good, but nothing different than usual. My husband had a bean soup that he likened to a thin chili because it had a kick to it. I tasted it and it was good. There was also some sausage in there. Hubby had a steak in a red wine sauce, served with vegetables and some roasted potatoes. He liked it. I had duck in a pear sauce served with those same vegetables and a rice. I loved the duck, highly recommend! The skin was crispy and delicious and paired with the pears - on my!!! I also really liked the vegetables because they were not overly seasoned. I can't stand a lot of salt so I appreciated the more natural taste of the vegetables. For dessert, we had the flourless chocolate cake and the duet of mousse. Both were fantastic and we highly recommend them! The cake was pretty typical but good. I haven't had this type of Carmel mousse before so I was in love. We also loved the added windows and contempory remodel. The old Brighton House was very dark. Alexander's is fresh and light, a warm and inviting restaurant.

Lunch is acceptable bar food at higher than normal prices. The decor was expensive to build so that justifies the extra price of the food. Really, the place deserves some upscale menu offerings rather than the deep fried everything they choose to offer. Bread was nice, fish with chips (were not "hand-cut") was nice, Po-boy shrimp sandwich was greasy and the caesar salad wasn't. OK bar food.

I had high expectations! Nice decor, nice waitress. Free lunch since the fish tacos were bland, served less than lukewarm along side a semi-stiff serving of white rice and black beans - also less than lukewarm. Even simple food like this could be served piping hot - that might have helped. It wasn't worth eating. Priced at $12. I expected something delicious and it was three soft corn tortillas with some mushy fish (supposedly sole)? not crispy and tasteless with some shredded cabbage - also tasteless and some salsa verda - flat and flavorless. So the waitress was kind enough to offer to bring something else - I had already attempted to order the fried soft shell crab and they were out of that - after that nothing really looked appealing except for their house made potato chips - she brought me a bowl of lunch - potato chips - so I didn't leave hungry. My friend ordered spinach salad with salmon and it was just a big bowl of spinach with a few thin slices of apples - not much else going on there. Others ordered sandwiches which seemed to taste just fine. I wouldn't recommend the fish tacos - I've had fabulous fish tacos but only in Florida where the fish was fresh and served HOT. The manager came over and wanted to know what could be done to improve the fish tacos so I basically told him what I thought it needed (fresh HOT fish cooked crisp + some interesting salsa - with some spice to it - some would think when ordering 'Mexican' that it might have a spice kick in there somewhere - the tacos should be hot and the side of rice/beans might also be served hot. There's too much competition in Brighton to start off serving mediocre food. The only thing that will guarantee my return is that I didn't have to pay for food that I didn't eat. I'll give the another try - perhaps for dinner? Maybe the chef will be there then? There weren't many people in there at all for lunch on a Saturday. I was hoping for a place like Conner's (see connorsrestaurant.com ) - now that's a wow place - why can't we get something like that here?

First time visit and will go back. The decor is mod and cool. Monday night half off bottles of wine is a perk. The warm bread loaf served with real butter was amazing. Garden salad was simple and fresh. Loved my beef short ribs, full of flavor, tender and accompanied by perfect mashed potatoes and crisp-tender carrots and green beans, perfect on a cold, rainy fall evening. My companions loved their duck breast (served perfectly medium rare), and seared scallops.

This is my new favorite restaurant . Fantastic service, delicious food prepared to perfection and reasonably priced. nice atmosphere, friendly and courteous staff, and a pleasant warm atmosphere. Decor is worth a visit to see it! I've been there four times in a week. I highly recommend Alexander's. I think the fact that they have been open for a few months now has given them a chance to correct any initial problems as I did not experience any ot the issues listed in some of the other reviews. Give it a try!

We live in the area and have dined here a few times. The food is good, but overpriced. They were often out of items on the menu and we were ALWAYS seated next to the kitchen even if the place was almost vacant. We will most likely be driving further out of our area for a seafood restaurant in the future.

Dropped in on a Sunday evening because it looked upscale and trendy from the road with a friendly and attractive hostess we could see through the front window. What a delightful experience! Loved the décor. Waitstaff was knowledgable and intuitively attentive. We shared a pork tenderloin that was cooked to perfection, presented appealingly on the plate and right out of the oven hot.

Family and friends went to this establishment after my grandson's christening. We had been to Alexander's before and had always experienced good food and good service. This time the food was sub par (surf and turf and perch sandwich dried out, tough and tasteless), and attention to detail by management/owner was nonexistent. Needless to say, none of us will be returning.

Beautiful decor. Wonderful booths make you feel you are only ones in restaurant. The ice tea is very good. We had great service. We had Michigan Salad which was fresh and very tasty. The bread was warm with yummy butter. The calamari was excellent. And the fish tacos are worth every bit. We felt the prices were reasonable. You can't beat fresh and nonfrozen food! And we had the expresso brownie parfait and it was unvele

First time at this restaurant and was impressed. Nice update on the decor from the old Brighton House, looking forward to the patio opening as well. Ordered mussels as an app- absolutely fantastic. Generous portion of ahi tuna steak, prepared with a sesame crust, perfectly seared. Very good selection of wines by the glass, most reasonably priced. Service very good.

my family and i went there tonight hoping for a great dinner. we wanted sea food . had the calamari which was ok could have been cook a minute or two longer. I ordered the fettuccine permavia which the alfredo sauce was one of the worst i have ever had no taste or seasoning in it ! my husbands pasta too wasnt that good . The two table we were in between were unhappy with their food. The server must've had a section inside and pick up my table outside and should've. she was suppost to bring bread never did. I would've sent my pasta back but it took so long to see her again. Im disappointed in the quality and price.

Great experience here for lunch after the brunch-time rush. Would definitely come back. I thoroughly enjoyed the salmon blta served on a toasted ciabatta with house cut fries. Maybe I just got lucky but the salmon was cut and prepared just how I like it, a little blackened and then end piece. There was a generous amount of crispy bacon and fresh avocado layered on top. It's a hardy portion but I couldn't help but finish the whole sandwich (open-faced). The fries were fried fresh and typical house cut deliciousness. My mom had the shrimp wrap that she also enjoyed. There was plenty of shrimp to taste in every crisp bite into the slaw filled wrap. She had the remoulade on the side that I tried with a couple of fries, this was also very good and a wee bit zesty. Service was good, our waiter had only been there a month but was knowledgeable about the menu, brunch, and kindly offered suggestions to our indecisive selves. He was good at refills (bonus points for a new lemon with every iced tea!) I'm not sure why people complain about the cost so much. Each of our sandwiches with fries were $10. That's less than the popular food chains and most other locally sourced fare. The ambience is better than most and the food was delicious. Give it a try :)

The dinner my wife and I had was excellent but my wife got the cheesecake and she stopped eating it because it tasted funny. Then I took a bite and I ran for the bathroom. I almost vomited, it took me about 5-10 minutes for me to get myself together. I told the host as we were walking out but I would just assume she wouldn't care. Overall I will never step foot in this establishment.

Great restaurant in Brighton! I came today for a late lunch/early dinner and had a wonderful meal. I was greated quickly and asked what type of table I wanted (bar or dining room). I selected the dining room. The waitress came quickly and took my drink order. They have a really nice selection of beers, wine, cocktails, soda and tea. I ended up on a glass of Pinot Grigio. They have a great menu. A lot of appetizers, soups, salads, sandwiches, burgers, fish, pasta, steaks and desserts! I ended up getting the whitefish. It was a large piece of fish that was sauteed beautifully with a little bit of cheese and served with a lemon burre sauce with a lot of capers. It was served on a large bed of mashed potatoes with perfectly cooked green beans! I decided to treat myself and get a cup of coffee and the creme brulee for dessert. That was the biggest dissapointment of the meal. While it looked pretty, it wasn't all that rich or very flavorful. I wouldn't get it again. The key lime pie other hand..... Overall, Alexander's has great food in a beautiful environment. I'll be back!

We ordered the shrimp cocktail, clam chowder, Caesar salad, whitefish, and crab cakes. The shrimp cocktail should've been jumbo shrimp considering it's $14 for 6. The clam chowder was a 6 out of 10. Caesar salad was good. The white fish was a 7 out of 10; and the crab cakes were a 5 out of 10. The crab cakes were not made w lump crab meat. Therefor they were made w too much breading which came out really mushy on the inside. The ambiance was ok and the restaurant was clean. It seems to me there are some serious gouge sessions going on here. Needless to say it was not worth $80 and we will not be returning.

This was our first time dining here (didn't know it existed actually) we started off with drinks & the Baked Brie appetizer. It was very good! The selection of wine (by the bottle or glass) is impressive as well as their cocktail & beer menu. My husband had the pork chops while I had their "special" Surf & Turf. Pork chops were very good but my steak lacked seasoning but was grilled the way I ordered it. The green beans that came with both meals were very good--we both commented on their seasoning! Service was great! Very attentive & quick to have empty plates removed & water glasses refilled! Will probably be back to try other menu items! Wondering how their Happy Hour is as well...

Wow! So happy my manager suggested this place for me and my love to dine at. The ambiance is classy and upscale. We were greeted and seated immediately by a very friendly host who asked us what we prefer booth or table! Nice touch! It's rare that you get to choose where your going to sit. Our waitress was so pleasant, fast, and nice! We ended up here on a night where they have 1/2 off bottles of wine, glasses of wine, and martinis. They offer a wine menu however no martini menu. That might be the only disappointing thing that happened. We decided to tell our waitress what we wanted or had in mind for a martini and just based off of that the bartender made us some amazing martinis I ordered the blackened mahi mahi.. It was so amazing and perfectly spicy! My love ordered crab cakes. He knows his crab cakes and this is the first place he took a bite and said wow these are great crab cakes. He's a Maryland native so he knows good seafood from bad seafood. The calamari appetizer is so amazing! It's not that super breaded served with marinara sauce deal. It's lightly breaded to the point where you can see the squid and it's served with this amazing sauce. We absolutely loved this place! We will be back for more! Yum!

We had talked about stopping in here for a long time, but for one reason or another it just never happened. But on this day on the spur of the moment we decided to stop. Wow!!! My husband ordered the a bowl of clam chowder & a shrimp po boy which he said was great. Mine was the crab cake entrée. This was nothing short of amazing. The cake itself was a nice enough size to be a true entrée, & was served with a side of rice pilaf ( yum), & al dente green beans. Dessert was another heavenly experience. His was tiramisu, mine was the vanilla bean cheesecake. The restaurant itself was tastefully decorated and comfortable, it was the middle of the day as well as the middle of the week, so we pretty much had the place to ourselves. The staff were all smiling and pleasant to interact with. All in all a wonder experience! A return trip wont be too far off!

Lobster bisque is amazing, spinach salad was great, as was the service and atmosphere. However, walking in we passed a big bucket full of water with cigarette butts and candy wrappers floating in it, right next to the door. Really gross and not a good impression. Gave us the feeling that the place was dirty. The fish and chips was supposed to be cod, but we were all skeptical. It was very thin; not at all like cod we've had anywhere else. The fries were nice and brown, but mushy. I don't think the oil is hot enough. We'll probably try it again when I feel like a salad. I think they just need to pay more attention to details.

We went here for Mother's Day dinner and I really wanted to like it more than I did. I will forgive them a little because it was very busy due to Mother's Day, but you'd think a restaurant of this price would be well-prepared for a very busy day! First, the service was extremely slow. Instead of being brought refills when our drinks were low, we had to constantly ask. It also took far longer to be able to place our orders and receive food than is typical. Our waiter seemed very busy and flustered, and the restaurant seemed disorganized. Once the food arrived it was actually fairly decent, though to be honest I thought the portions were on the smaller side. I had the beef medallions and added a lobster tail. The steak and vegetables were very good, but the lobster tail wasn't spectacular. We may try Alexander's again, but given the price it may be a while ...

A group of six of us went there for an early dinner today after the recommendation of a friend. Three of us had the surf and turf special at $15, and three of us had a variety of hamburgers. The steak in the surf and turf was very tasty and the lobster tail was good but very tiny. The meal included fresh green beans and mashed potatoes and all of it was well-prepared. Those who had the hamburgers, which were served with homemade chips, said they were delicious. Each of us had a different dessert including lemon cake, Key Lime pie, tiramisu. flourless chocolate cake and creme Brûlée. All were very good. The ambience was comfortable, the service the right level of attentive without being in your way.

The service was EXCELLENT and the waiter was very knowledgable. The appetizers - Brie, Calamari, Oysters and Escargot - were delicious. The Jambalaya, however, was undesirable. I would suggest that they lower the lighting and/or the shades in the dining room during dinner to give it a classier, more intimate feel. Looking out the huge, bright windows and seeing a strip mall/parking lot was not the atmosphere I was looking for.
